WWF Wrestling Challenge 2/16/1992

We are in Lubbock, TV. Gorilla Monsoon and Bobby Heenan are our commentators.

Gorilla rips Sid for what he did to Hulk at SNME where he turned on him. We see clips from SNME of that. Heenan says who cares about Hulkamania? He says Sid cares about Sid and that's the only way to survive in the WWF. We then see clips of the Hulk/Beefcake interview from SNME after that match.

We then see last week's Barber Shop which didn't air on some versions of last week's show, including the one I reviewed.

The Barber Shop

Sid Justice is this week's guest. Brutus says his guest turned his back on Hulk Hogan and Hulkamania and it's Sid Justice. Sid comes in. Brutus talks about Sid dumping Hulk out at The Rumble and Sid complaining about not getting a title shot at the WM8 Press Conference. Brutus then brings up Sid turning on Hulk at SNME.

Sid says he doesn't care about Brutus or Hulk's friendship. He says he doesn't care if Hulk has a friend out here either. He grabs Brutus by the hair and says he will rearrange his face. Sid then grabs a chair and slams it in the window at the barber shop. Sid then destroys the rest of the shop and makes some kind of liquid explode in his face. Sid then destroys the rest of the barber shop as he calls for Hulk Hogan.

Sid says Hulk is a coward and says Hulk knows he's the man that rules the world.

Thoughts: This was the last Barber Shop segment and just furthered along Sid's heel turn. 

Heenan thinks its great. Gorilla says Jack Tunney made a decision as enough is enough.

WWF Special Report

Lord Alfred Hayes says Tunney made a ruling. He says due to Sid's accusations of favoritism and actions in the ring, there will be a double main event at Wrestlemania VIII. Flair wil fight Macho for the World Title and Hulk Hogan will fight Sid Justice. Al says a special ref may be selected for the Hulk/Sid match at Wrestlemania VIII.

El Matador vs Dale Wolfe

Heenan is mad he wasn't consulted about Macho getting the title shot over Hulk against Flair at Mania.

Dale backs up in the ropes and Tito hits armdrags. Tito armlocks him. Tito hiptosses him thendropkicks him. Tito hits another armdrag into an armlock. Tito confuses Dale and lariats him over. Dale pokes him in the eye and hits some shots. Tito punches back.

Tito back body drops Dale then flying forearms him in the back of the neck to win.

Thoughts: It was nice to see Dale get a few shots in but it was the usual squash otherwise. Tito's finisher doesn't look that good.

The Mountie vs Terry Daniels

Heenan says Mountie should be fighting Piper at Mania and I don't think he's wrong about it. Mountie has Jimmy Hart with him.

They boot each other in the gut. Mountie clubs on him then flying back elbows him. Mountie throws him out then back in. Mountie backs Terry's head off the buckles. Mountie knocks Terry down with a punch then hits a nice dropkick for the win.

Thoughts: It was nice to see Terry get a shot or two in. I was surprised to see Mountie win with a dropkick.

Mountie shocks Terry in the throat with his shock stick after.

WWF Event Center

Sean Mooney talks the 2/29/92 Boston Garden show with Taker/Flair vs Hulk/Piper. Flair, Taker, Perfect and Bearer do a promo. Flair says things have changed but says him and Taker stand firm. Flair says Hulk and Piper is the strangest alliance in all of wrestling. he says Taker is ready and so is he. Taker says Hulk is a marked man and says now Piper can rest in peace next to him.

Hulk Hogan and Roddy Piper do a promo. Hulk says everything is subject to change, except when Piper decides to stand next to you. Piper says Hulk's the guy you stand next to. Piper says they are coming at you and have been mega powers for years.

"Hacksaw" Jim Duggan and Sgt. Slaughter vs Brian Elmore and The Brooklyn Brawler

Sarge backs up Brawler on the ropes. Brawler gets a punch in then is lariated. Brawler takes a double back elbow. The heels both take double clotheslines.

Jim knees Brian in the gut on the ropes and spinning slams him. Sarge bangs Brian's head off the buckles and Brian takes a botched back body drop. Brian is whipped into a Jim lariat and Jim pins Brian.

Thoughts: It was all squash here. Brawler didn't wear his shirt during the match which is kind of rare.

Heenan tries to read Monsoon's notes at the desk and Monsoon shoves him, sending him flying.

WWF Event Center

Sean hypes up the 2/24/1991 Worcester show. The Undertaker takes on British Bulldog. British Bulldog does a promo. He says he knows what Taker is all about. he says bulldogs like to bury bones and dig holes. He says maybe he will bury Taker's bones.

The Nasty Boys and Jimmy Hart do a promo on The Legion of Doom. Saggs says The LOD is not coming back from Nastyville. Knobbs says it's about time. He says it's time for The Nasty's to be tag champs again. He says get ready to get nastysized as they are going down.

The Undertaker vs Ed Robinson

Heenan says Mike McGirk is proof there is no cure for ugly.

Taker clubs on Ed then flying lariats him. Taker walks the top rope and clubs Ed's shoulder. Taker then hits a tombstone and wins.

Thoughts: Taker won as expected here as the mighty Ed Robinson couldn't take him down. Taker didn't waste much time in this one.

Ed is put in a bodybag after. 

We see clips of past Mania's.

Wrestlemania Report

Mean Gene Okerlund shills the WWF Superstars Shoot-out hockey game and talks about Hulk vs Sid.

Sid Justice does a promo. He says it all started at Summerslam. He says he saw Hulk's jealousy and envy as he's bigger and stronger than anyone else Hulk saw. Sid says Hulk took the easy way out at The Rumble as he didn't have a chance. Sid tells him to ask Brutus how it feels to be a fox trapped with nowhere to go and says he's the hunter. He says he rules the world.

Hulk Hogan does a promo. He says his stomach knotted when he found out he wasn't getting a title shot. He says Tunney likes to block his destiny. Hulk says he knows why Tunney did what he did. He says he will show the Hulksters how to turn a negative into a positive. He says he will get the title back someday but Sid is in the hot seat. He says Sid is a big kid with a big mouth and says he couldn't lace his boots up. Hulk says when Sid attacked Hulk, he might as well have attacked him. He says he like his song says, when you attack him, you attack his pride. He says Sid will find out the power of Hulkamania and ask what he will do when Hulkamania runs wild on him.

Gene talks about Flair vs Macho. Ric Flair and Mr. Perfect do a promo. Perfect says Tunney has stepped on both of them and says the decision he made doesn't sit well with them. Perfect tells Macho not to let the chance of a lifetime pass him by. Flair says Tunney distorted his title on TV and says now he has to fight Savage. Flair says he's the man of the hour and says he knows something he doesn't.

Macho Man does a promo. He says he has the best chance to beat Flair. Macho tells Flair to say what he knows. Macho says Flair has something that he wants and will take. He says he's better than him and can beat him flat 1-2-3. He tells Flair that if he's got it, show it. 

Bret "The Hitman" Hart vs B.A. Dalton

Bret side headlocks him then shoulders him over. Bret running lariats him then boots him in the gut. BA's head is banged off the buckles. Bret boots him out of the corner. Bret 2nd rope elbow drops BA then legdrops him. Bret russian legsweeps BA then sharpshooters him. BA submits.

Thoughts: It was a quick one sided squash with BA getting nothing in before being put down.

WWF Event Center

Sean Mooney hypes up the 2/29/92 Boston Garden show. The Natural Disasters and Jimmy Hart do a promo. Hart asks if Sarge and Duggan are sure they wanna face them. Quake says it takes guts and power in the WWF but says they can't match their power. Typhoon says they have more guts than brains as if they had brains, they wouldn't be in the ring with them. Typhoon says they will get the beating of their lives.

Sgt. Slaughter and Jim Duggan do a promo. Jim says The ND's are bullies. Jim says they don't back down and won't take a step back. Sarge says The ND's have a lot of weight to push around but are going down.

The hosts then talk about next weeks show with Papa Shango, Shawn Michaels and clips of Jake vs Macho at SNME.

Overall thoughts: Like most weeks, we had already seen the Event Center stuff and the Wrestlemania Report. Outside of that, it was all squashes and the Sid Justice Barber Shop segment. Sid getting covered in white stuff kind of hurt the segment and they probably should have re-did it.. That Barber Shop segment was the final Barber Shop segment. I wouldn't recommend this one as there wasn't anything that interesting on it aside from the final Barber Shop segment.
