WWE NXT 4/15/2025

Last week's show is here: https://prowresblog.blogspot.com/2025/04/wwe-nxt-482025.html

NXT North American Title #1 Contenders Match - Lexis King vs Wes Lee vs Eddy Thorpe vs Ethan Page

Ricky Saints comes out to watch. Everyone grouped up on King early and threw him out. Eddy then Wes both took control for a bit. King tried to spear all 3 opponents in the corner and missed all of them. Page codebreakered Wes over the 2nd rope and Wes did a nice sell for it.

We got a tower of doom spot with Wes powerbombing everyone down. Wes hits a running ssp for 2. Wes then topes King outside. Eddy is pushed into Starks by Page. Starks then goes after Page and is ejected by the ref for it. Wes is slammed onto King. Page crabs King. Eddy then crossfaces King on top of it but Wes stops King from tapping out.

King ends up on Page's shoulders. Wes twisting cannonballs King and Page ddt's Eddy while holding King. Wes and Page trade. Wes enzugiri's him. King hits a top rope swanton on Page then Eddy breaks up the pin with a top rope elbow. Wes top rope diving metera's Eddy. King hits a coronation then Page hits a cutter on King and wins.

Thoughts: It was a spotty four way here. It was entertaining though and they were creative with the various spots. I wasn't that interested in it at the beginning but they tried and I liked it. Page won but I don't know what that or any of these guys winning really accomplished.

Page gets on the mic after. He says he's the #1 contender and isn't the guy Saints wanted to win. He talks trash then Saints comes back in and spears Page.

We get a video on Jordynne Grace that shows her major body transformation.

Zaria and Sol Ruca talk in front of a bunch of girls in the back. Kelani Jordan comes up to them and tries to start trouble. She says she will be a 2x N-A champ. Izzi Dame comes in and says she will be the winner and will bring another title to The Culling.

Women's North American Title Ladder Match Qualifier - Tatum Paxley vs Lola Vice

TP rolls her up to start. TP moonsaults over her when both are over the mat and tries to roll her up but is put in a hold. TP does a bridging armbar then Lola does a triangle.

Lola side headlock takeovers her. Lola does a nice takedown slam on her. TP goes under the ring and Gigi has words for Lola outside. TP pulls Lola's arm into the ring rungs.

We go to PiP break and return. TP hits forearms and a step up enzugiri on Lola. TP then neckbreakers her. TP corner crossbodies Lola. Lola gets her knees up. Lola hits a kick combo. Lola hits a corner hip attack. TP sunset flips her. TP corner crossbodies Lola's back. Lola sits up top and TP walks up the ropes and kicks her. TP suplexes her off the buckles for 2. TP comes off the 2nd rope and is kicked in the gut. Lola urakens her and wins.

Thoughts: The crowd was really into this for some reason. It was better than the usual Lola match but I didn't think it was the pic they made it out to be. The two worked pretty well together and they should probably run this one back as Lola's been hurting for someone who can have some decent matches with her.

Giulia does a video. She said she watched Vaquer become a double champ but not give her a rematch. She says rematch only go so far when it comes to the women's title. She said she reminded her what beautiful madness is. She says Jaida is confident but she doesn't know her. She says Jordynne Grace is strong but she will introduce her to strong style. She says Grace and Jaida are obstacles to her getting to Vaquer. She says there's no friends, just a rematch. She said she introduced herself at Stand and Deliver last year but becomes champ this year.

We see Trick Williams arrive.

Gigi, Tatum, Fatal Influence and Meta-Four talk to Ava. Ava says there will be a triple threat women's tag title match at Stand and Deliver and the winners get a women's tag title shot. Roxanne Perez comes in and is mad that she doesn't have a match at Stand and Deliver. Ava says she will make it a four way if she can get a partner.

#1 Contender's Tag Team Gauntlet Match

Leg 1 - Hank Walker and Tank Ledger vs Tyson Dupont and Tyriek Igwe

TD and Tank go at it. TD knees him in the face then flying euros him for 2. TD corner splashes Tank. Igwe knees Tank in the gut. Igwe lariats him from behind.

Igwe is shouldered over then TD takes a springboard lariat. Igwe takes a double bodyblock. Igwe then takes a powerslam + back elbow and is pinned.

Leg 2 - Hank Walker and Tank Ledger vs The Culling (Niko Vance and Brooks Jensen)

Hank is double teamed in the corner. BJ hits uppercuts on Hank. Hank corner lariats him. Tank hits a corner lariat. Tank's team hits corner attacks then double bodyblocks Niko. Hank is lifted for a butt drop on BJ.

We go to PiP break and return. BJ nails Hank and kneels on him. During the break, Hank took an electric chair facebuster on the commentary table. BJ backslides Hank and we see Fraxiom watching in the back. Niko stomps on Hank.

Hank lariats Niko. Hank is held in the powerslam position and BJ comes off the buckles and flips Hank. Tank is in and lariats BJ. He lariats Niko over the top then fallaway slams BJ. Tank cartwheels into a lariat on BJ.

BJ rolls up Tank for 2. Tank comes off the buckles and BJ spinning heel kicks him. Tank counters a doomsday device move with a belly to belly suplex on BJ. He then pins BJ.

Leg 3 - Hank Walker and Tank Ledger vs No Quarter Catch Crew (Myles Borne and Tavion Heights)

Tav death valley drivers Tank for 2. Tav lariats Tank. Borne dropkicks Tank for 2. Tank takes a fireman's carry takeover then Tav hits mounted forearms.

Hank hits punches on Borne then back elbows him. Hank bulldogs Borne. Hank jumps off the steps and bodyblocks Tav. Tav takes a double team bodyblock then Borne tope con hilos Hank and Tank.

We go to PiP break and return. Borne and Hank hit each other then both tag out. Tav and Tank club on each other. Tav lariats him then takes a back elbow. Tank backdrops Tav then Tav does it to him. Tav hits a big lariat on Tank for 2. Tank then rolls up Tav and pins him.

Leg 4 - Hank Walker and Tank Ledger vs Yoshiki Inamura and Josh Briggs

YI's team attacks as they enter. YI suplexes Tank for 2. Josh side slams and splashes Hank for 2. YI hits chops on Hank then corner facekicks him. Hank is chokeslammed onto YI's knee for 2. Hank cradles Josh and pins him.

Thoughts:
It got a lot of time but not all the matches in it did. The 4th leg was a waste and the 3rd leg was the best of these matches. Hank and Tank were the only option for winners here since they had a storyline set up for it. It was good overall and Hank and Tank really got a workout here in this one. I was impressed by some of the double teams from BJ/Niko and I would have liked to have seen more of the last leg.

Stevie Turner, who they call "Sophie Turner" here talks to Kali Armstrong. She says she will be in the main event of Evolve tomorrow in a four-way. Kali thanks her. Ava says Kali will be a big star. Stone is happy for Hank and Tank. Ava says she has a last minute entrant for the final qualifier for the women's ladder match.

We see Oba Femi arrive.

We get a video on Jaida Parker. She says people have made assumptions about her all her life. She talks about coming from the streets and says she's the only homegrown talent in this match. She said she's pressured. She talks about her dad being a soccer coach. She says none of the girls want her to succeed. She says her best friend is her uncle and she talks about losing him. She says she will take the title at Stand and Deliver.

We see the D'Angelo Family minus Tony in the parking lot. Rizzo asks where Tony is and Stacks says he's not coming. He says he's the underboss and this is his call. We see Dark State arrive.

Parking Lot Brawl - Stacks and Luca Crusifino vs Dark State

This isn't an official match. We see Dark State get hit with crowbars then the fight goes inside. Dion has a trash can thrown at him. Shugars is chaired in the back. Luca gets hit from behind and I think Drako Knox gets chokeslammed through a table. Cutler James is double backdropped through a table.

Osiris is double speared through a wall. Stacks is sent into lockers and Dion tries to throw lockers down on him. Shugars fire extinguishers a bunch of people including his partners. Stacks is sent into a car. Stacks is rammed into a rollaway door. Luca's head is banged off a car. Luca is then double uranage'd on a car.

Tony D'Angelo arrives and hits Dark State with a crowbar. The cops then arrive. Stacks says they gotta get away from the cops but Tony said he called them. Tony asks what Stacks did going over his head. Tony said he had a plan. Tony said we all want Dark State but we won't do it in a street, we will do it at Stand and Deliver. Tony says he knows what's best for the family and tells Stacks not to question him again.

Thoughts: This was a wild fight with lots of fast action and people getting hit with stuff. It wasn't a true match but it might as well have been. I'm not sure what the ending of this was about as I wouldn't think Tony would want the cops involved no matter what. I was surprised Dark State wasn't more dominant here since they had a 4v2.

We see Stephanie Vaquer in Chile. She is interviewed for a news show there. She said her dad got worried when she said she wanted to be a wrestler. She says she's blessed to be here and says she will keep Chile's name high.

Hank and Tank are interviewed in the back. They are excited. Hank says they got advice from various teams and said they stayed true to who they are. Tank says they know who they are but know who they aren't. Fraxiom comes in. Ax says they are looking forward to their match. NF says he was looking forward to it the entire time but it's a shame they won the gauntlet for nothing. Hank and Tank offer handshakes, NF walks away but Ax shakes hands with them.

Roxanne Perez talks to Ava, Stone and Turner. She says she will be her own tag partner in the four way. Ava says no. Cora Jade walks in and says it's interesting but asks if Perez will say she's sorry.

Andre Chase talks to Kale Dixon and Uriah Connors in the back. Chase says he's scared he might ruin their lives. Thea Hail comes in. She says she's not coming back in to Chase U but she'll be a proud alumni and is qualifying for the N-A Title match.

Women's North American Title Ladder Match Qualifier - Karmen Petrovic vs Thea Hail

Ashante Adonis comes out with KP. I thought they were done for some reason.

Thea rolls up KP. KP seeps her and they stand off. Thea hits armdrags then running back elbows her. Thea hits an exploder.  Thea goes for a dive and is kicked. KP slingblades Thea. KP spinning lariats her for 2.

Thea headbutts KP then hits double axe handles. Thea lariats her then flipping neckbreakers her. Thea hits a world's strongest slam on her. Thea rolling sentons her. Thea then springboard backsplashes KP. Thea double underhook twisting bombs KP. Thea kimura's KP and submits her.

Thoughts:
It was a quick one and Thea won as expected. It's good to see her back. I'm interested to see how she does on her own as I have my concerns. The match was fine but nothing too memorable.

All the girls in the ladder match then look at each other from various spots in the arena.

Trick Williams comes out for the final face off, wearing some stupid hat with his hair tied up under it. Trick says Evans told him he was a young Carmelo Hayes. He says he gets it as you either die a hero or live long enough to become the villain. He says he's still alive and heavy is the head who wears the crown. He says Oba's head is heavy but he's coming for the crown. Oba Femi comes out.

Oba Femi comes out. He says Trick talks like he's the man but he's a broken record playing the same hits. He says no one sings along as Trick is the only one whooping that trick. Oba says Trick gets one more chance to stand in the spotlight and he will move on after that.

Trick says they are still chanting whoop that trick, then the crowd does. Trick says he will take the title back. Je'Von Evans comes out. Evans tells Trick to shut up. He says Trick comes out every week talking about a match he deserves. Evans says we are tired of that. He says Trick is dismissed. He says Oba has been glued to a title since he came here.

Evans says he was hyped about dropping an NXT champ, not just a regular wrestler. He says Oba walks around like there's a wall around him. Evans says he wasn't supposed to make it here but he did. Evans says Oba is the favorite but that's how he likes it.

Oba says Evans had a phenomenal rookie year but he knows about that. He says Evans is the future but he's the present. Oba says NXT revolves around him as he has the title. He says he's the top dog and says Evans can't handle it as he is a child. Trick interjects. Evans says he can wrestle circles around both of them.

Oba and Trick send Evans out then trade punches. Evans gets in and is thrown out. Trick and Oba fight more and Evans hits a springboard double cutter on them. Evans then holds up the title.

Thoughts: I don't like them mentioning that Trick is a bit less over than before. That was done on purpose though, for reason I do not understand. Evans felt like the little brother and 3rd wheel of this trio and if this was supposed to sell me on him being a threat against Oba/Trick, they failed.

Overall thoughts: The opener was okay but it was a thrown together #1 contender's match. Page winning didn't accomplish much. Tatum/Lola wasn't bad, but it was a random qualifier for a multi-person match. I liked the tag team gauntlet and Hank and Tank were clearly the only team who could have won this. It was another random one. Hank and Tank do have a story going on at least and while I'd be okay with Fraxiom being the forever tag champs, Hank and Tank kind of need to win at Stand and Deliver.

The parking lot brawl wasn't really a match, but it was short, violent and action packed. Karmen/Thea was short and Thea returned out of nowhere then qualified for the ladder match. We then got the final segment with Trick/Oba/Evans. They didn't do a great job of making Evans looked like he belonged with the two. I'd give it a 6 out of 10 overall as there was some solid wrestling. However Stand and Deliver is a weak looking card that NXT just wasn't ready for and there's only so much the last show before it could do to get me hyped for it.
