DEFY Wrestling 4/17/2025 Living Proof

Cody Chhun, Guillermo Rosas & Negro Casas vs. The Bollywood Boyz (Harv Sihra and Gurv Sihra) & Galeno del Mal

Cody and Rosas do The Bolly's dance. Negro then does it too. Both teams then do it together.

Harv or Gurv rolls up Cody and cradles him. Cody takes a double axe handle to the arm. Gurv (shorts) takes shots from Cody. Gurv and Harv take double shoulders. Harv (long pants) takes a double dropkick. Mal and Negro get in. They trade chops and Negro goes down. Mal shoulders over Negro. Mal is pulled over the top.

Gurv takes corner attacks then a dropkick + suplex combo for 2. Negro wristlocks Gurv. Negro and Gurv chop each other. Gurv eye rakes him. Rosas comes in and hits shoulders on everyone. Mal boots him over. Rosas takes corner attacks.

Rosas takes a backbreaker + top rope elbow drop combo. Mal splashes Rosas for 2. Harv chinlocks Rosas. Rosas backdrops Harv. Cody gets in and hits shoulderblocks and dropkicks. Cody hits corner splashes then punches.

Mal takes a double suplex. Cody and his partner have their heads banged together then are put in double sharpshooters. Mal and Negro trade. Negro hits leg kicks and dropkicks him in the knee. Negro's team then does triple la magistral's and wins.

Thoughts: It was fine. It ended at the right time and the finish was clever. Negro didn't do a lot here. Rosas and Cody were happy to be the old school faces here. 

Ravenous Randy Myers comes out and makes out with a man in the front row. I didn't need to see that. He says nothing of note and says let's make some magic. Evan Rivers then pushes him over and ends that.

Randy hits punches and Evans hits a spinning pumphandle slam and ends this.

Vert Vixen, Amira & Viva Van vs. Nicole Matthews, Rhio & Liiza Hall

Hall and Vert go at it. Vert throws her down. Hall throws her over then Vert shoulders her over. Vert goes up and over. She sweeps Hall then elbow drops her back.  Hall is legswept then takes a double basement dropkick.

Hall buzzsaw kicks Viva then fisherman suplexes her for 2. Viva comes in and spinning heel kicks Rhio for 2. Viva flying headscissors Rhio. Viva hits another spinning heel kick and shimmy's. Amira gets in and is dropped on Rhio.

Rhio forearms Amira then double underhook suplexes her. Rhio shotgun dropkicks Amira. Rhio facekicks Amira then crossbodies her for 2. Rhio lariats Amira. Amira armdrags Nicole then spinning armdrags her. Amira backrolls Nicole and Nicole turns it into a sleeper.

Nicole leglocks Amira. Nicole lariats Amira. Hall snapmares Amira and kicks her in the back. Amira takes chest kicks from Nicole on the ropes. Amira takes a high/low then a spinning neckbreaker. Amira sitout powerbombs Hall.

Rhio and Vert trade shots. Rhio step up enzugiri's her. Vert superkicks her. Amira and Nicole each hit shots. Amira hits forearms and elbows on Nicole and Hall. Amira hits corner attacks. Amira and Viva do stereo cannonballs. Vert and Rhio fight in the crowd.

Viva upkicks Nicole then codebreakers her. Hall pump kicks Viva then germans her. Hall death valley drivers Amira. Amira takes a spider german. Viva and Nicole botch some electric chair spot. Viva then ocean cyclone suplexes her to win.

Thoughts: It wasn't that good. It went on longer than it needed to. Most of Viva's offense didn't look good here and she botched the finish twice. Amira and Hall did okay though.

EVIL vs. Michael Oku

Evil eye pokes him and side headlocks him. Evil shoulders him over. Oku flying headscissors him and dropkicks him. Oku then topes him outside.

Evil blocks a PK from the apron and flips Oku onto the apron. Evil chokes Oku with a rope and tries pin attempts. Evil hits chops on Oku then eye rakes him. Oku 2nd rope dropkicks him.

Oku ddt's Evil for 2. Oku PK's Evil then asai moonsaults him for 2. Evil throws the ref in the way of Oku. He kicks him in the gut then does a magic killer by putting him on the ref for 2. Oku superkicks him. Oku fosbury flops Evil outside. Oku top rope crossbodies Evil for 2.

Oku half crabs Evil. Oku goes up to the ref and Evil low blows him for 2. Oku dropkicks him then hits a top rope 180 splash. Oku corner dropkicks Evil. Oku is flipped with a lariat. Evil hits darkness falls for 2. Evil then hits everything is evil and wins.

Thoughts: It had the usual Evil cheating. Evil didn't do anything too unbelievable at least but it wasn't great. The crowd was more forgiving to him than you would expect.

DEFY World Tag Team Championship: Sinner & Saint (Judas Icarus and Travis Williams) (c) vs. Lykos Gym (Kid Lykos I and II) vs. HYO & Susumu Yokosuka

Kid Lykos II has the mask and Lykos I doesn't.

Hyo and 1 go at it. 2 headflips out of a wristlock, Hyo headscissors him and they stand off. They then headflip up together. Judas is double teamed by SY and Hyo. Judas takes a double back elbow then a knee > basement dropkick.

Trav chops up Hyo. 1 dropkicks Trav in the leg and head. Trav takes a double back elbow then is tripped into a baseball slide. 2 takes a dropkick + enzugiri combo in the corner.

Trav stomps 2's arm into the mat. Judas lariats 2 for 2. 2 jawbreakers him. Hyo gets in. He hits euros on Trav then rolls him into a double stomp. Rivers comes out and trips Hyo. Randy Myers then hits Rivers on the apron. Rany slams Rivers on the floor.

SY takes a double boot. SY hits lariats on Sinner and Saint. Judas takes corner attacks. SY exploders 1 off top. Hyo then 2nd rope sentons 1 for 2. 1 hits shots on Sinner and Saint. 2 comes in and 1 and 2 hit kicks on Trav in the corner. Trav takes a top rope senton + neckbreaker combo. SY lariats 1. 2 enzugiri's SY then 2nd rope dropkicks him.

Hyo slingshot cutters II. Hyo jawbreakers Judas and takes a dropkick + angels wings. Trav pins Hyo.

Thoughts: It was okay but nothing too great. It was a fast paced match as expected where you'd miss something if you blinked. I was surprised to see the Japanese guys take the fall here. 

KENTA vs. Mance Warner

They trade forearms then slap each other. They hockey fight. Kenta hits chest kicks then Kenta facekicks him down. Kenta hits chest kicks outside and sends MW into the post. MW bites him and headbutts him. MW bites the hand then Kenta bites his hand.

Kenta puts a fan's hat on and facekicks MW against fans. MW hits more shots outside. Kenta hits headbutts then facekicks him while he's in the front row. Mance is sent into the post. They sit down on chairs on the stage and slap each other. MW chairs Kenta in the gut. Kenta powerslams him on a chair.

 Kenta corner dropkicks a chair into MW's face. MW throws a chair in his face then running lariats him for 2. Kenta facekicks him and hits a falcon arrow for 2. Kenta hits a top rope double stomp for 2. Mance hits a big chokeslam for 2. MW running knees him in the face for 2.

They trade forearms. Kenta hits slaps. MW forearms him.  Kenta hits a go to sleep and wins.

Thoughts: It's a 2025 Kenta match. You are not getting much but kicks and slaps and he's not going to be taking a bunch of bumps. This went longer than it needed to and had a slow pace. They tried to make it a heated brawl but without any real aggression or heat, so it didn't quite work. I think MW got as much out of Kenta that you can get in 2025.

Ricky Gibson gets on the mic beforehand. He says it's great to see people cheer for the RNR and said people came to see if they were still alive. Rick says they are still alive for now as the match hasn't started. Eddie says they are trying to save them the embarrassment and tells them to leave their boots in the ring and give a retirement speech. Morton says they went on for 20 minutes and tells them to kiss his @ss. Morton says they know they are old and said they couldn't whip him by himself in his prime.

The Rock ‘n’ Roll Express (Ricky Morton & Robert Gibson) vs. Midnight Heat (Eddie Pearl & Ricky Gibson)

Ricky Gibson hits shots on Robert. He then hits Eddie on accident. Ricky Gibson avoids a double team but then takes a double punch. Ricky Gibson goes out to stall.

Robert double chops Ricky and side headlocks him. He then hiptosses Eddie with the other arm. Eddie takes a shot to the gut and a kneelift. Morton punches Eddie.

Eddie backs up Morton in the corner. Morton eye rakes him. Morton wristlocks Eddie then Robert keeps the hold on. Morton then keeps the hold on when he gets in. Eddie uppercuts Morton.

Ricky Gibson foot chokes Morton then chinlocks him. Morton is kicked in the gut by Eddie then punched in the head. Eddie punches Morton in the gut. Eddie misses a corner charge.

Robert gets in and bangs Heat's heads together. The Express are snet into each other then Ricky Gibson nails Eddie on accident. Morton canadian destroyers Ricky Gibon and Robert gets the pin.

Thoughts: It was a shorter match but they hid The Express' weaknesses well here and there was nothing wrong with this one. They worked this well and kept it safe and simple. 

DEFY World Championship: Clark Connors (c) vs. El Phantasmo vs. Man Like DeReiss

MLD and ELP do taunts beforehand. CC flips both off. MLD shoulders ELP over then dropkicks him out. CC stomps on MLD. ELP hits chops on CC then CC chops him back. ELP dropkicks CC.

ELP twists CC's fingers then stomps the hand into the mat. ELP walks up the buckles, rope walks and and is pushed down onto the ropes. ELP is knocked off the apron into the seats. CC headbutts MLD outside and sends him into the post.

CC eye pokes ELP outside. CC chokes him with a chain. CC suplexes him then elbow drops him. CC chinlocks him. and back elbows him.

MLD hits lariats on CC and lariats him. MLD enzugiri's CC from the apron. MLD diving blockbusters CC off the top. ELP enzugiri's MLD on the buckles. We get a tower of doom with CC being on the bottom.

CC hits his opponents and takes MLD's doo rag off. CC takes a double superkick. They trade forearms. MLD sunset flips him and they trade pin attempts. ELP step up enzugiri's him. ELP spinning ufo neckbreakers MLD for 2.

MLD kips down out of a lariat and cutters ELP. MLD 450's ELP. CC throws MLD and gets a 2 count on ELP. ELP cradles and superkicks CC. He superkicks CC again then hits a gordbuster for 2. ELP is enzugiri'd up top. CC gets his knees up on MLD's 450. CC speakrs MLD then ELP. CC then hits a high angle ddt on MLD and wins.

Thoughts: It was an okay main. Nobody did anything too wild here because there are more shows they have to work but it was acceptable. Someone was sitting out of this one at all times and there weren't any real big spots outside of a tower of doom.

Overall thoughts: I missed some of Mance/Kenta but it was an okay show overall. There's nothing I would go check out here but it's a watchable show. The opener, main and semi-main were all fine. The less said about the stuff with Randy Myers, the better. I'd give it a 5 out of 10 as too many people took it easy due to having other matches to do.
