WWF Superstars of Wrestling 2/15/1992

Vince McMahon and Mr. Perfect are our hosts. They show us clips from SNME and Vince complains about Sid leaving Hulk on his own. We then see clips of the Hulk and Beefcake interview after with Mean Gene. 

We see clips from last week's Wrestling Challenge with Sid Justice at The Barber Shop. Brutus rips Sid for Hulk's elimination at The Royal Rumble and and goes over Sid complaining at the press conference then apologizing to Hulk after. Brutus says Hulk's the best friend he ever had and asks him why he wasn't there for Hulk. Sid says he doesn't care about Brutus or Hulk. Sid says he will do Brutus a favor and re-arrange his face. Sid then swings a chair at the Barber Shop window and breaks it. He then destroys the rest of the set with chairs. Sid hits some bottle of shampoo or something and it ends up all over his face. Sid says Hulk is a coward because he knows he's the man who rules the world.

Vince says Jack Tunney has taken matters into his own hands over this.

WWF Update

Mean Gene says Jack Tunney has made a ruling. He says due to Sid's allegations of Jack Tunney's favoritism, there will be not one but 2 main events - Ric Flair vs Macho Man Randy Savage for the WWF Title and Sid Justice vs Hulk Hogan. Gene says there may be a special ref for Sid vs Hulk and says we will hear from the parties in the Mania main event later.

Thoughts: Now this was dumb. Hulk had a title shot against Flair and Tunney just gave it to Macho. The only thing Macho has done is beat Jake lately. Sid didn't have the strongest case for a title shot but he has now been passed up twice for it and does have some reasoning for being mad about it. 

The British Bulldog vs Omar Atlas

They lock up. Omar side headlocks him and tries to shoulder him over but gets knocked over himself. Davey hiptosses Omar then armdrags him. Davey wristlocks Omar and knee drops the arm.

Omar knees Davey in the gut. Perfect is mad about Macho getting the title shot over Hulk. Davey throws Omar. Omar boots and clubs Davey in the corner. Davey corner lariats Omar then hits a running powerslam to win.

Thoughts: Omar got a few things in here at least before being put down but that's typical with Davey squashes. Davey won here as expected.

Vince shills Wrestlemania VIII and we see some past Mania highlights.

The Nasty Boys (Knobbs and Saggs) vs Kris Germany and Larry Williams

Larry is in the white. Saggs hits shots on Larry then elbows him in the back of the head. Knobbs elbow drops Larry then bangs his head off the mat. Saggs pumphandle slams Larry for 2. Larry takes a pit stop. Kris gets his head banged off of Sagg's boot. Saggs backdrops Kris then stomps on him. Knobbs corner splashes Kris.

Knobbs powerslams Kris. Saggs hits a top rope elbow drop on Kris and gets the pin.

Thoughts: It was a quick squash here with the jobbers getting nothing in before being put down.

WWF Event Center

Sean Mooney talks the 2/29/92 Boston Garden show with Taker/Flair vs Hulk/Piper. Flair, Taker, Perfect and Bearer do a promo. Flair says things have changed but says him and Taker stand firm. Flair says Hulk and Piper is the strangest alliance in all of wrestling. he says Taker is ready and so is he. Taker says Hulk is a marked man and says now Piper can rest in peace next to him.

Hulk Hogan and Roddy Piper do a promo. Hulk says everything is subject to change, except when Piper decides to stand next to you. Piper says Hulk's the guy you stand next to. Piper says they are coming at you and have been mega powers for years.

"Rowdy" Roddy Piper vs Todd Overbow

Piper waistlock takedowns Todd. Piper rides his back and Todd ropebreaks. Bret Hart does an inset promo. Bret says he got a chance to win back the IC belt at Mania. He says you can throw the respect and friendship out the window as he wants his belt back.

Todd and Piper go to the ropes. Todd slaps Piper. Piper then pushes the ref out of the way and slap flurries Todd. Piper sleepers Todd and Todd's out. Piper wins.

Thoughts: It was a quick one with Todd getting a slap in and paying the price quickly for it.

WWF Event Center

Sean hypes up the 2/24/1991 Worcester show. The Undertaker takes on British Bulldog. British Bulldog does a promo. He says he knows what Taker is all about. he says bulldogs like to bury bones and dig holes. He says maybe he will bury Taker's bones.

The Nasty Boys and Jimmy Hart do a promo on The Legion of Doom. Saggs says The LOD is not coming back from Nastyville. Knobbs says it's about time. He says it's time for The Nasty's to be tag champs again. He says get ready to get nastysized as they are going down.

Shawn Michaels vs Rudy Gonzales

Shawn has new music and it's not the sexy boy theme. Shawn comes out with Sensational Sherri.

Shawn hits punches on Rudy. He flying knees him out of the ring. Shawn flying lariats Rudy off the apron. Sherri and Shawn do an inset promo. Shawn says he's never been insecure about the world he's living in but says you have to know when you go against the grain.

Shawn backbreakers Rudy then hits a superkick. Shawn says now it's all over and he backdrops Rudy. Shawn then lays on him to win.

Thoughts: It was a quick one here with Shawn doing some different stuff than usual. It wasn't anything too impressive though.

Shawn flirts with Sherri after.

Wrestlemania Report

Mean Gene shills Wrestlemania VIII. Ric Flair and Mr. Perfect do a promo. Perfect says Tunney has stepped on both of them and says the decision he made doesn't sit well with them. Perfect tells Macho not to let the chance of a lifetime pass him by. Flair says Tunney distorted his title on TV and says now he has to fight Savage. Flair says he's the man of the hour and says he knows something he doesn't.

Macho Man does a promo. He says he has the best chance to beat Flair. Macho tells Flair to say what he knows. Macho  says Flair has something that he wants and will take. He says he's better than him and can beat him flat 1-2-3. He tells Flair that if he's got it, show it.

Sid Justice does a promo. He says it all started at Summerslam. He says he saw Hulk's jealousy and envy as he's bigger and stronger than anyone else Hulk saw. Sid says Hulk took the easy way out at The Rumble as he didn't have a chance. Sid tells him to ask Brutus how it feels to be a fox trapped with nowhere to go and says he's the hunter. He says he rules the world.

Hulk Hogan does a promo. He says his stomach knotted when he found out he wasn't getting a title shot. He says Tunney likes to block his destiny. Hulk says he knows why Tunney did what he did. He says he will show the Hulksters how to turn a negative into a positive. He says he will get the title back someday but Sid is in the hot seat. He says Sid is a big kid with a big mouth and says he couldn't lace his boots up. Hulk says when Sid attacked Hulk, he might as well have attacked him. He says he like his song says, when you attack him, you attack his pride. He says Sid will find out the power of Hulkamania and ask what he will do when Hulkamania runs wild on him.

Rick "The Model" Martel vs Terry Daniels

Rick hammerlocks TD then chinlocks him. TD gets his own hammerlock in it. Rick cartwheels off the ropes then poses on the buckles. They trade wristlocks. TD is sent into the buckles. TD hits an armdrag and does an armlock.

TD hits some shots on Rick's arm and gets some pops for it. Rick nodowa otoshi's TD then clubs his back. Rick backbreakers TD. Rick then submits him with a crab.

Thoughts: It was a short but competitive match here. Terry got over a bit and it was nice to see something relatively even. The two worked well together and Terry was moving well.

WWF Event Center

Sean Mooney hypes up the 2/29/92 Boston Garden show. The Natural Disasters and Jimmy Hart do a promo. Hart asks if Sarge and Duggan are sure they wanna face them. Quake says it takes guts and power in the WWF but says they can't match their power. Typhoon says they have more guts than brains as if they had brains, they wouldn't be in the ring with them. Typhoon says they will get the beating of their lives.

Sgt. Slaughter and Jim Duggan do an inset promo. Jim says The ND's are bullies. Jim says they don't back down and won't take a step back. Sarge says The ND's have a lot of weight to push around but are going down.

Next week's show has Tatanka, Bret Hart, IRS and Ted Dibiase in tag action and the entire Macho Man vs Jake Roberts match from SNME. They say we will also see Jake ambushing Macho after, which we didn't see yet.

Overall thoughts: The big news coming out of this one is that Flair vs Hogan at Wrestlemania VIII is off. Why? They didn't really explain it. It was a stupid move as this match had been built up for 8 months on TV and in the end, we won't get it. It doesn't make a lot of sense from a kayfabe perspective either as even Hulk wasn't happy about it. And it's not like Hulk lost or something, they just said. Tunney changed his mind. The WWF was just so weird about that stuff at this time. They'd build things up for months then just change course suddenly. The show was all about Wrestlemania VIII with everything else being secondary. The Martel vs Daniels match wasn't bad here and we got our first Superstars look at the new Shawn and Sherri pairing. News wise, this is a must see especially for Wrestlemania VIII, but action wise, there wasn't anything worth seeing. This was a show with a lot of talking on it.
