WWE Monday Night Raw 11/4/2024

WWE Monday Night Raw 11/4/2024

Last week's show is here: https://prowresblog.blogspot.com/2024/10/wwe-monday-night-raw-10282024.html

We are in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Michael Cole and Corey Graves are on commentary.

We see various wrestlers arrive with Dom petting a cat.

Liv Morgan, Raquel Rodirguez and Dominik Mysterio come out. Liv says "Welcome to Monday Night Morgan" and shows off her Crown Jewel ring. She says The Liv Morgan Revenge Tour is over but we are movingon to The Liv Morgan World Tour. She said she took out Rhea Ripley for the third time and said she will be gone for a long time. She said she beat Nia Jax to become the Crown Jewel champ and says she's the greatest women's champ of all time.

Dom goes to talk and Jade Cargill and Bianca Belair interrupt for some reason. Jade said they aren't the only ones to walk out with gold and say if they want a shot at the tag champs, now's the chance. Liv says they interrupted her and asks why they are so angry. Liv says Jade and Bianca are pretending to like each other and says her and Raq have a real friendship. Liv says Jade and Bianca are only kept together with the tag titles. Bianca says let's put it to the test and have the match tonight.

Adam Pearce comes out with a ref. He says we aren't starting Raw this way and says he needs them to calm down and back up. Liv tells Jade to watch out for the knife Bianca stabs her in the back with. Iyo axe kicks Natalya then Biana eliminates Sane. Nat is kicked off the apron by Sonya and eliminated. Sonya and Shayna are thrown out by Jade and Bianca together. Jade, Bianca, Iyo and Lyra are the last four. The four pair off and fight.

Jade saves Bianca. Lyra takes a double slam. Iyo is swung into the buckles. Jade and Bianca face off. Raquel grabs Bianca by the hair. Liv then pulls Bianca and Jade over the top as they tug over Bianca's hair. Liv then mocks them then Jade and Bianca chase Liv and Raq.

Iyo hits a corner meteora on Lyra. Iyo and Lyra fight on the apron. Iyo hits stomps on Lyra. Lyra boots Iyo then Iyo germans her on the apron. Lyra falls down and gets pinned.

Thoughts:
This existed to get a bunch of girls on Raw in one segment. They did okay with it by building up Liv/Raq vs Bianca and Jade and also continuing the Maxxine/Ivy stuff. It wasn't great or anything but it was fine for what it was. They timed the eliminations poorly though as two of them happened during the break. It was a bit hard to tell who was who here as everyone wore full body suits.

Cathy Kelly interviews The New Day. Woods said they should have won the match for the tag title shot. Woods blames Gable for costing them the match. Woods says he talked to The War Raiders about it and they are willing to run it back. Kofi says he doesn't see what happened as an issue and Woods blams Kofi for dropping the ball. they argue about this.

The Wyatt Sick6 takeover the feed. We see The Mix talking to Michael McGuillicuty and Bo Dallas from an old Raw clip. We then see Bo Dallas has Miz tied up and has his mouth taped shut. Miz says they want Final Testament and he's not with them. Bo laughs in Miz's ear and says they don't care about Final Testament, they want Miz. Bo says Miz will beg and plead and mercy until returns to the ground. Uncle Howdy then grabs Miz and the video cuts out.

Kofi springboard chops Ivar and single leg dropkicks him. Kofi walks up the buckles and hits a twisting crossbody. Kofi hits a ranhei to Erik for 2. Ivar is pulled over the top. Kofi tope con hilos Ivar. Kofi boom legdrops Erik.

Erik shoulders Kofi over. Erik hits a nice uranage on Woods. Woods takes a 2nd rope lariat + german and is pinned.

Thoughts: I would have liked for it to get more time but what we got was good. The two teams worked well together and hit their stuff clean. The knee to the back of Kofi's head looked really nasty.

Sami Zayn comes out to talk. He talks in Arabic and Jey Uso comes out. Jey thanks him for having his back. He asks Sami if it was an accident when he kicked roman Reigns in the face. Jimmy Uso comes out. Jimmy says Jey say what he saw and said Sami did it on purpose. Jimmy says they can't trust him. Sami asks Jimmy if he wants him to remind him of his track record.

Sami said Jimmy was his brother but then kicked him in the face then Roman and Jey when things went bad. Jimmy says he's not the bad guy. Sami says he doesn't hate Jimmy and says he's not a bad guy, just a guy who makes bad decisions. Sami said he came out for Jey only but said it felt like old times. Sami tells Jey he can't do this again and is out.

Jey asks him to come to Smackdown so they can talk this out like family does. Jimmy says Sami ain't family. Jey says just because Sami isn't blood related doesn't mean he's not family. He says Sami is family. Jey says he sees Jimmy Uso, Jey Uso and Sami Uso. Jey says he hopes to see him on Smackdown.

Seth Rollins is interviewed by Jackie outside. Seth is back to wearing stupid clothing. He says he's in the fatal four way because of his resume and the last 20 years of his career. He says Bronson Reed is as advertised and says he respects his fight. Seth says in the distant future, they will fight again. He says he has gold on his mind tonight in the #1 Contender's match. He says he knows who he is after Crown Jewel.

Dragon Lee vs Chad Gable

Chad has new music. Chad waistlocks Lee and throws him on his head in a botch to start. Chad throws him again and rolls him on the mat. Chad gets Lee's back and paintbrush slaps him. Chad side headlocks him. Chad pulls on the mask and pulls part of it off. Chad pulls Lee down backwards by the mask.

Lee side headlock takeovers Chad. Lee grabs Chad by the singlet and snaps it into his chest. Lee flying headscissors Chad. Lee top rope crossbodies Chad for 2. Chad and Lee trade forearms on the apron. Lee pumping knees him then Chad back body drops Lee on the floor. Lee barely gets over enough.

We go to break and return. Chad is stuck in tree of woe and Lee top rope double stomps him. Chad overhead belly to belly suplexes Lee into the buckles and he bangs his head off the mat again. Chad ends up face first into the 2nd rope off a dropkick to the knee. Lee hits punches.

Chad handstands in the corner and is superkicked. Lee hits combinacion cabron. Lee corner dropkicks Chad in the mouth. They trade forearms. Chad takes a rebound german. Chad no sells it and germans Lee. Lee no sells it. Lee takes 2 germans.

Ivy distracts the ref. Chad tries to take Rey's mask. Lee hits destino on Chad and wins.

Thoughts:
I didn't like this at all. These guys didn't work well with each other and there were at least 3 spots where someone could have gotten seriously hurt. Don't run this match again.

Gunther and Ludwig Kaiser are interviewed by Jackie. Kaiser asks why she is asking him questions about the undeserving and lucky Cody Rhodes. Gunther says Cody was the better man. Gunther says there's 3 capable performers tonight and Dom. He says he's the champ no matter who wins in the four way tonight and says it's on him to do better. He says him and Kaiser both have to do better.

#1 Contender to the World Title - Damian Priest vs Sheamus vs Dominik Mysterio vs Seth Rollins

Dom oes out and DP goes after him. Seth hedscissors Sheamus. Dom pushes Sheamus and Seth then DP follows him around. Dom gets surrounded by all 3 opponents. Sheamus chest clubs Dom. Seth rolls up DP as Shemaus does it.

They interrupt each others moves. Seth kicks Cheamus out of the ring. Sheamus pulls DP out and they fight outside. Seth then topes both twice and topes Dom. We go to break and return. Dom is in control as we come back. He slingshot swantons DP. Dom stomps on DP then baseball slides Sheamus and Seth.

Dom tornado ddt's DP for 2. Dom superkicks and jumping neckbreakers DP for 2. Dom chops DP then DP hits lariats. Dom is driven down into the mat. DP hits kicks and forearms. DP flying back elbows Dom then lifting flatliners him.

Sheamus comes in abd hits irish curse backbreakers. Sheamus top rope knee drops Dom. Seth breaks the pin up with a springboard swanton. Seth enzugiri's DP then DP lariats him. We go to break and return.

Reed lariats Sheamus and death valley drivers DP and Sheamus. Reed top rope splashes DP. Reed hits top rope splashes and headbutts Seth outside. Reed splashes Seth through the commentary table off the rails. Dom top rope splashes Sheamus for 2.

Dom 619's DP. Dom comes off the top and takes a south of heaven chokeslam from DP. DP pins Dom and wins.

Thoughts: It was your usual 4-way with people coming in and out, making it hard for anyone to get momentum and making it hard for any real stories to be told. It was fine for what it was but the match type limited this some here. I'm curious if Priest and Sheamus will go after Reed now. It's kind of silly to have Reed lose to Seth if they were just going to continue the feud.

Gunther and Priest stare down in the ring. I'm not excited to see that one again.

Overall thoughts: The show flowed better than other 2 hour Raw's have. They did a good job with the time. Nothing was great here as has been the case with all 2 hour Raw's but the show was easy to watch and sit through. Lee/Gable was a disaster and I suppose the four way was the best match of the night. I give this one a 7 out of 10.

Thoughts: The finish was super weak here and should not have put Honma away. It was a short one otherwise just to get people on the card and was a waste of LIJ. They teased the Hiromu wants to wrestle in World Tag League.

Hiroshi Tanahashi & Oleg Boltin vs. House Of Torture (EVIL & Ren Narita)

Oleg and Tana get hit as they enter. Kanemaru and Ren get some shots in as Evil distracts the ref. One would think Tana could call the DQ as he's the President but no. Tana takes a corner lariat and darkness falls for 2.

Tana helps out Oleg and hits dragon screws on the heels. Taka hits a twist and shout on Ren then slingblades Ren. Oleg splashes Ren for 2. Ren rolls up Oleg and gets the win.

Thoughts: It was your usual short HoT match with them breaking every rule in the book and making the faces look stupid en route to victory.

Tana is held after and Evil talks trash. Evil asks Tana if he really thinks he has another year left as a wrestle and talks about their 1/4 match. He then tries to cut Tana's hair but Jado stops him. Tana and Jado are beat up outside. Ren low blows Oleg. Tana and Jado are dragged to the back and Ren poses on Oleg. Ryohei Oiwa comes out and says he will take Ren's belt away from him. Thoughts: They didn't get enough time. Shota won with relative ease after a simple death rider and the match ended right when I thought it was reaching the middle portion of the match. This was a waste of a Sanada loss and totally a nothing match.

IWGP Tag Team Title Match - TMDK (Mikey Nicholls & Shane Haste) (c) vs. United Empire (Great-O-Khan & HENARE)

Mikey ddt's Hen then Hen hits a berzerker bomb. Mikey sliding lariats him again. Khan and Shane go at it. Khan shoulder throws him and fireman's carry takeovers him. Khan then monkey flips him into an armbar. Shane hits euros on Khan. Khan armbreakers Shane. Khan tries to sit on his neck in the corner but Shane stops it. Khan claws both opponents at the same time. Khan takes a uranage + powerbomb for 2. Mikey takes an imperial drop and is pinned by Khan. Khan and Henare win.

Thoughts:
There were a ton of double teams here though the moves looked good. It was a slower match that didn't really get enough time to be an epic. They pretty much skipped the middle portion of this match and went from trading shots to trading high impact moves. It wasn't as good as it should have been.

Kenny Omega comes out to talk.  Kenny says he talked to Hiroshi Tanahashi. He says he should wrestle a younger wrestler and says he will be able to wrestle soon. He says he wants to come back to NJPW. He says how about January 5th. He then says it in English. He says NJPW is still the king of sports and still home to him.

Rob high kicks TJP then pops up Kosei into a ddt on TJP for 2. TJP is held in the air for a cutter and Akira breaks it up. Rob takes an electric chair springboard cutter for 2. Akira and Rob hit superkicks. TJP tries a pin then Rob reverses it and pins him.

Thoughts:
It went longer than it needed to and they did a little too much. They did have a lot of exciting points here and the match stuck out a little more due to being one of the faster matches on a slower show. Had they cut a few minutes off of this, I might have liked it more.

Robbie Eagles gets on the mic after and says his team won. Him and Kosei say they want to challenge Kevin Knight and Kushida. Knight and Kushida then come out. Kush and Knight congratulate them and accept their challenge. They ask where Catch 22 is as they said they beat them. They say they will see them at WrestleKingdom.

Drilla Moloney and Clark Connors then attack everyone with chairs. Drilla says they beatevery team in the tag division and says there's no party like a War Dog party. Drilla says it's not WrestleKingdom without The War Dogs.

Douki neckbreakers him and chinlocks him. They trade chops and Douki goes down. Wato bckdrops him. Douki dropkicks him. Wato tope con hilos him then springboard euros him for 2. Wato does a submission and Douki ropebreaks. Douki armdrags him out and baseball slides him.

Douki ddt's him on the apron. Douki hits a top rope senton onto a standing Wato outside. Douki hits a top rope double stomp and does the douki chokey. Wato hits a TTD for 2. Wato hits a recientemente. Douki rolls him up for 2 then Wato puts him in vendaval. Douki dragon suplexes him. They trade forearms. Wato high kicks him then Douki hits a big lariat. Thoughts: It went a little long and they did a little too much but I think they put out a good effort and the match came across better after some of the garbage on this one. I didn't expect to like it but I was mostly okay with this.

El Desperado comes out and challenges Douki for the Tokyo Dome.

Tai slaps him then takes an air raid crash for 2. Tai gets a 2 count on him and hits an emerald flowsion.

DF buckle bombs him then Tai superkicks him. Tai hits an air raid crash for 2 then Sanada pulls the ref out. Sanada takes his shirt off and reveals a Wardogs shirt. DF hits Tai with a shillelagh. DF hits overkill and wins.

Thoughts: Well, I didn't see that one coming. I never liked face Sanada. If it means he goes back to being cold skull Sanada, I'm up for it. The match wasn't that bad but the finish took away from what we did get.

Sanada low blows Taka after then hugs Tai. Sanada hits then hits a twisting ddt on him. Douki then argues with Sanada after. DF brags on the mic after. DF says he warned Taichi he might have a wolf in his pack but Taichi didn't listen. DF said this only happened as Yuya was afraid to fight him. He says Yota Tsuji thinks he's better than him. He says it's one thing to have a win over him but nobody gets 2 wins and gets away with it. DF tells him to get his fat @ss out here so he can handle business.

Zack hits chest kicks and Shingo michinoku drivers him. Shingo hit a last of the dragon. Shingo lariats him over. Zack lariats him over and PK's him. Zack legsweeps him then hits a michinoku driver to win.

Thoughts: I wasn't a fan of it. Zack did his usual submission exhibition stuff for the first half of this then they just started doing high impact moves on each other. I didn't see anything special about it and thought it was just an average match. There was no great story here or heels or face either.

Zack talks on the mic after and wonders who his neck challenger will be. Shota Umino comes out and gets booed.  Shota tells him he wants to challenge for the title in English. They call each other d!ckhead and shake hands. Zack said he wanted to win the G1, the IWGP Title and be in the Tokyo Dome main event.

Zack gets confetti then Ricochet comes out. He springboard lariats Zack. Ric says he never got to congratulate him on winning the G1 and the title and congratulates him. Ric says he wants the power in NJPW and says the man with the title has the power. He says he wants the title to show he's still the man around here. He challenges him to a title match on 1/5 at Wrestle Dynasty.

Ric goes to attack Zack again and Shota Umino comes in the ring to stop it. Zack then attacks Shota and throws him out. Shota then hits a death rider ddt on Zack. Shota then holds the title up.

Thoughts:
This wasn't good. Ricochet vs Zack Sabre Jr isn't exactly a huge match to get excited for and is not worthy of a Tokyo Dome big match. I don't know what's going on with the Shota stuff either but Zack vs Shota isn't much better of a Tokyo Dome match.

Overall thoughts: I've been saying it for most of the year and nothing has changed. NJPW is really in a down period post-AEW poachings. The roster is diluted talent wise. The booking sucks and the general direction sucks. That was on full display here. The main wasn't that good and the idea of Ricochet vs Zack Sabre Jr. being an IWGP Title match at the Dome is ridiculuous (as is Shota vs Zack). Finlay continues to be pushed beyond his talent level and Sanada has now turned heel (though I'm okay with the latter). Sanada and Shota could have been good but they didn't get enough time. The juniors did too much like they always do and the undercard was nothing special. I would not recommend this one and I think this is one of the worst periods NJPW has ever really been in. I'd give this one a 4 out of 10.

WWF Superstars of Wrestling 6/8/1991

WWF Superstars of Wrestling 6/8/1991

Last week's show is here: https://prowresblog.blogspot.com/2024/10/wwf-superstars-of-wrestling-611991.html

We're in Rockford, Illinois at the MetroCentre. Vince says it's national shampoo week. Vince McMahon, Macho Man Randy Savage and Roddy Piper are our commentators.

Vince and Macho make puns with Macho saying he's head and shoulders above the rest. He tells Piper not to work himself into a lather.

The Big Boss Man vs Al Burke

Al attacks Boss from behind and clubs on him. Al is sent hard into the buckles. Boss leg lariats him on the ropes. The Mountie and Jimmy Hart do an inset promo. Hart says the only law and order in the WWF is The Mountie. Mountie says Boss will find out the hard way, so why doesn't he save himself some trouble and go back to Cobb County, Georgia?

Boss back elbows Al and hits him in the back. Boss hits a hard shot on Al's chest. Boss hits a nice big boot then headbutts him. Boss hits a sidewalk slam and gets the pin.

Thoughts: Boss roughed up Al a bit here before getting the easy win.

Boss handcuffs Al to the ropes after and threatens him with his night stick in true face fashion.

WWF Update

Mean Gene talks about Andre turning down managers. We see Andre turning down Jimmy Hart then getting injured by Earthquake. Gene calls it one of the most despicable things he ever witnessed.

Jake Roberts does a promo. He says there's no danger when the snake is in the bag or when a giant has his back turned. He says the danger is when you meet a man face to face and accept your wrongs. Jake says he doesn't play and neither does Lucifer.

The Warlord vs Red Tyler

War clubs on Red and flying shoulders him. War gutwrench suplexes him. War lariats him over and Red takes a nasty bump for it. War full-nelson's him and submits him.

Thoughts: It was your usual quick Warlord squash here. Red took a nasty bump on the neck.

We get a quick music video that lasts about 5 seconds on Sid Justice.

WWF Event Center

Sean says Sid Justice will be an incredible force in the WWF. Haku and Bobby Heenan do a promo. Heenan says he has contracts coming out of his ears. He says Haku will wrestle anybody in the WWF. Haku talks in his language. Bobby says that's Haku's way of saying he isn't afraid of anyone.

Bret Hart does a promo. He said a lot of people didn't think he could do it in singles wrestling. He said it's going to be easy for him. He says he's in a groove and has set his sights on Mr. Perfect and the IC Title. He says he knows Heenan will throw all of his men at him but he says he will find a way to get past them. He says he's on a roll and will keep on rolling.

The British Bulldog vs W.T. Jones

Winston the bulldog is with Davey. Davey shoves WT off the lock-up. WT side headlocks Davey and Davey hiptosses him. Davey hits an armdrag and a slam. Davey chinlocks WT. Macho says Red Tyler can team with WT and Vince says no one will team with Red after the 360 he took on his neck.

Mr. Perfect and Bobby Heenan do an inset promo. Perfect says he'll give Davey a one way ticket to the dog pound if he goes in the ring with him. And Heenan says he knows what happens there. Macho says it's the same as the glue factory.

Davey suplexes WT then chinlocks him. Davey hits a headbutt then a stiff lariat. Davey corner lariats him then hits a running powerslam. Davey then picks up the win.

Thoughts: Commentary was entertaining here with them talking about anything but the match. The match wasn't anything special and Davey won as expected. I was surprised Red Tyle got namedropped here.

We get an ad for The WBF Championship.

The Berzerker vs Gary Jackson

Gary is still active as of 2024, wrestling for Southern Illinois Championship Wrestling. No entrance for Berz here.

Berz rushes Gary and hits a face kick. Berz jumps around and clubs Gary. Berz puts Gary on the ropes and facekicks him. The Berzerker and Mr. Fuji do an inset promo. Berz just says "huss" a lot and Fuji says he will turn him loose on anyone in the WWF.

Berz hits a slam and a world's strongest slam. Berz then throws Gary out hard to the floor. Berz then wins via countout.

Thoughts: It was your usual wild Berzerker squash with him jumping around and yelling while doing some facekicks. It's always fun to see Gary even if he never gets anything in.

Berz slingshot knee drops Gary on the floor after.

WWF Event Center

Greg Valentine does a promo. He says he changed his mind about a lot of things in 1991. He says there's no more Jimmy Hart. He says he's by himself but he thinks better and sees things this way without Jimmy confusing him. He says he' a wrestlers legend and says it's Hammertime.

The Nasty Boys and Jimmy Hart do a promo on The Legion of Doom. Saggs says everyone wants a shot at the tag titles and asks what makes them so special. Saggs says they aren't so special and not nasty enough to take it off of them. Knobbs says they aren't scared of anyone. Knobbs says they will nastysize anyone who stands in their way.

Ricky "The Dragon" Steamboat vs Dan Johnson

Dan's built well and has a huge neck. Ricky hits punches and Dan messes up a chop sell. Dan eye rakes him and slams him. Vince talks about Macho/Steamboat at WM3. Dan gets another slam in and Ricky hits a side kick. Ricky fist drops him and hits a shot to the gut. Ricky backfists him then slams him. Ricky hits a top rope chop on Dan. Ricky hit a top rope crossbody and gets the win.

Thoughts: Selling wasn't exactly Dan's strong suit here and it was hard to buy some of Ricky's offense against him. Ricky won as expected here and it was cool to hear Macho talk about his WM3 match with Steamboat.

This month's WWF Magazine has Jake Roberts on the cover and an article on IRS.

The Funeral Parlor

Paul Bearer says everyone is scared to enter the parlor. He says his guest is like him and it's Irwin R. Schyster.

IRS says he's happy to be here. He calls the fans tax cheats and says Paul runs his business by the books. IRS says Paul has a tax refund coming real soon. He says there are two things certain in this world - death and taxes. He says it doesn't matter who it is, they will learn that they will pay the penalty when they deal with IRS. Paul then thanks him.

Thoughts: I loved this segment. These are two completely different personalities and one wouldn't think they'd have much to talk about. Instead, IRS busted out the death and taxes line and said Paul is getting a tax refund. Brilliant.

We get another 5 second music video on Sid Justice.

Virgil vs Bob Bradley

Bob's looking good as always here as one of the regular jobbers on this show. Bob tries to box Virg. Virg blocks his punches and punches him down. Virg atomic drops him and punches him. Bob goes over the top rope in a nice bump. Ted Dibiase and Sherri do a promo. Ted says Virgil is taking the biggest gamble of his life stepping in the ring with him and says it's a sure thing that he'll lose it all.

Virg step up enzugiri's Bob and hits more punches. Bob eye rakes him and gets some shots in. Virg hits him in the gut. Piper goes off about how he and Virg don't gamble. Virg knocks Bob down with punches. Virg then taps out Bob with the million dollar dream.

Thoughts: It was interesting see Virgil use Dibiase's finish here. It was Virgil's only move of the match here as he did little else but punches.

Sgt. Slaughter vs Buck Zumhofe

They talk about the WBF Championship and Piper says he wants to crash the event. Sarge has Col. Mustafa and General Adnan with him.

Sarge clubs on Buck then chokes him with a belt. Sarge clotheslines him with a belt. Sarge drops him throat first on the top rope. Sarge knee drops Buck and stomps on him. Sarge clubs Buck's back then camel clutches him. Buck submits.

Thoughts: Sarge should have been DQ'd for using the belt here. It was a quick squash with Buck getting nada in.

Mustafa camel clutches Buck and Sarge boots Buck while he's in it.

The Ultimate Warrior does a promo. He says The Warriors should follow him to the personal fitness expo and head to the WBF Championship to see the greatest bodybuilders of all time.

WWF Event Center

The Orient Express do a promo. Mr. Fuji says he's proud of his Express. He says part of his training is making blood come out of your nose and making your eyes pop up. Tanaka says they have been training hard for every tag team.

Tugboat does a promo. He says the competition keeps getting meaner and stronger and says the managers are getting more and more devious. Tug says it'll be like going into the deepest ocean or a battle between a sardine and a great white shark as he is coming after wrestlers with everything he has got.

Thoughts: I feel like we saw similar version of the same two promos before.

Next week has Tugboat and The Bushwhackers vs Earthquake and The Nasty Boys. Mr. Perfect will also visit The Funeral Parlor.

Overall  thoughts: This wasn't one of the better Superstars episodes. There were no star vs star matches nothing of note really happened on this one. We did see our first Sid Justice videos on the show though. There was lots of WBF shilling though. I wouldn't recommend this one and would give it like a 3 out of 10.

TNA Xplosion 10/25/2024

TNA Xplosion 10/25/2024

Last week's show is here: https://prowresblog.blogspot.com/2024/10/tna-xplosion-10182024.html

Arianna Grace comes out. She says she's here to grace us with two of her best friends - Kendal Grey and Carlee Bright. She then announces their opponents. She says one of them is her best friend too and says sometimes best friends fight. She gets upset over this and brings out Brinley Reece. Xia Brookside then comes out in cowboy themed attire.

Xia Brookside and Brinley Reece vs Kendal Grey and Carlee Bright

CB = Carlee Bright

CB and Brin shake hands. CB throws her over by the arm. Brin wristlocks her and CB kips up then cartwheels before reversing it. Brin forward cartwheels over her and rolls her up. CB victory rolls her for 2.

CB has her crossbody caught. She is then slammed. Xia dances and elbow drops CB. Xia wristlocks her. CB headflips out. Grey gets in. Grey goes up and over Xia. Xia dropkicks her.

Xia christos Grey then russian legsweeps her for 2. Xia la magistrals her. Grey does a nice fireman's carry takeover. Xia takes a double team then CB standing moonsaults Xia. Grey does a nice olympic slam/suplex on Xia. Grey straightjacket chokes Xia. They high kick each other and both go down.

Brin and CB get in. Brin shoulders her over and lariats her. Brin forward cartwheel lariats her for 2. Xia codebreakers Grey. CB takes a double team in the corner. Xia iconoclasms CB and pins her.

Thoughts:
It was a pretty solid match here and much better than the usual offerings. It was fast paced, everything they did look good and even Xia even came out of this looking good. Its not surprising though. This NXT rookie class is one of the best ever.

Around the Ring with Gia Miller

Chris Bey got seriously injured during the next set of tapings so Chris being the guest this week is really bad timing. Gia said she interviewed him on this when she was doing it for the first time and said it didn't go well. She said this is a redemption episode. Bey says he's producing a new song every Monday as part of a project.

Bey says he's releasing a song he did years ago but never got around to releasing. Gia says the wrestlers were doing karaoke but Bey was sleeping and missed it. Chris says he needs female vocals for a song and invites Gia to hit the studio.

Mike Santana vs John Skyler

Mike comes through the crowd as usual. John says the Tennessee peons are degenerates, scumbags and common street thugs like Mike is. He says they will clean up this city with these good hands.

Mike wristlocks him and yanks his arm. John reverses it. John hits a forearm and Mike knocks him over twice. Mike overhead belly to belly suplexes him. Mike hits a corner lariat. John gets on the apron and is back elbowed. John pulls Mike out. Mike superkicks him on the floor.

Mike hits chops in the ring then suplexes him. Hotch gets on the apron and distracts the ref. Mike goes after him then is hit from behind by John. They slap each other. John slingshot spears him for 2. John hits some shots and snapmares him. John the leg drops him for 2.

Mike back rolls off the ropes and hits doi fives. Mike spinning lariats him and wins.

Thoughts:
It was a short and average match here. They were fine but they didn't have much to work with in this one. It was a total throwaway.

Overall thoughts: There were 2 new matches here and one new interview segment which had some bad timing to it. Neither match was must see but the NXT girls did a good job and made Xia look better than she usually is. I wouldn't recommend this one and it was very average.

WOW Women of Wrestling 11/2/2024 Season 5, Episode 8

WOW Women of Wrestling 11/2/2024 Season 5, Episode 8

Last week's show is here: https://prowresblog.blogspot.com/2024/10/wow-women-of-wrestling-10262024-season.html

We see clips from earlier in the week. Jessie Jones arrives at Lana Starr's mansion in her truck with a giant stick. Lana answers the door and she Jones tells her to move.

Top Tier (Gloria Glitter and Kandi Krush) vs The Dojo Defenders (Kara Kai and Tara Strike)

Krush is put in a side headlock by Tara. Tara armdrags her off the casadora. Tara running knees her in the corner then snapmares Krush. Krush takes a sandwich kick to the back. Kai hits kicks on Krush then headscissors her using the buckles. Kai scorpion kicks her

Kai running euros Krush. Glitter beats up Kai on the apron and Kandi knees Kai in the gut while she hangs over the 2nd rope. Glitter knees Kai in the gut then makes her do aerobics while in the full nelson. Glitter sliding lariats Kai in the back of the neck. Glitter stomps on Kai then does the stair stepper on her.

Glitter pump kicks her for 2. Kai takes a double backdrop then she gets stomped on by both opponents. Krush throws her off the front facelock. Krush armlocks Kai. Tara gets in and top rope crossbodies Glitter. Tara hits a helluva kick in the corner and bulldogs her for 2. Krush tries to save Glitter but gets thrown out and falls onto Coach. Tara then jacknife pins Glitter in an upset.

Thoughts: It was a fast paced match and wasn't bad. They kept this moving and we had a nice surprise ending to it. It's nice to see The Defenders maybe finally getting to do a storyline.

Top Tier attacks The Defenders after. Coach says she formed this team and has been building them up to be top tier. She says every team needs to be challenged and tested and sometimes you need to make cuts. Coach says she's disappointed in her team. She says there's no cuts today. She says she will break them down to build them back up again until they show the elite athleticism they are known for because "Coach knows best".

We go back to Lana's house. Jones is looking for Big Rig Betty and Holly. She tells them to go and gives Lana the money the The Truckers go. Jones says they are going home. Jones and Betty leave and Holly closes the door on them, saying she will join them after the party. Dave says we will have to see how things play out.

Thoughts: There's likely more to this one as Jones and The Truckers aren't usually aligned.

Siren the Voodoo Doll vs Holly Swag

Holly's still wearing the clothes Lana Star gave her. Holly jumps on Siren and hits mounted shots. She swings wildly at her then Siren hits corner spears. Holly clubs on Siren's chest. Holly slides under her legs and then pump kicks her.

Holly slides out and gets kicked. Siren does butt drops on Holly's back. Siren camel clutches her and pulls on the hair. Siren suplexes her for 2. Siren curbstomps her. Siren misses a corner cannonball. Holly knees Siren in the face then top rope crossbodies her for 2.

Holly hits a uraken then does a rainmaker style lariat for the win.

Thoughts:
It was a short one but they kept it moving and it was fine. Siren hit all of her stuff clean here and I had no real issues with this.

Holly grabs Siren by the hair and throws her out after.

Dave McLane interviews Holly Swag in the ring. Holly says she swagged up, got a raise and says Betty got left behind. Dave says that's not a good daughter and Holly says she should have been a better mother.

Thoughts:
Whoa. Is hanging out with Lana starting to rub off on Holly? She came off like a heel here.

Sylvia Sanchez, Fury and Genesis vs Chantilly Chella, Holidead and Kalaki the Island Girl

Genesis gets on the mic. She says she's here for the WOW World Title as a singles competitor. Dave says they chose her for a partner. Gen says if she wanted to be in a trio, she would have stayed in Exile. Dave asks if she wants to do it and Gen says she'll participate.

They announce Ice Cold is now Scout Parker. They say she found herself in nature and appears to be an environmental activist now.

Kal and Gen start us off. Kal waistlock takedowns her and front facelocks her. Kal trips Gen. Syl gets in. She waistlocks Kal then is thrown in the corner. Chella is whipped into Syl in the corner. Chella gets on Holi's back and they ram into Syl. Syl then takes a douvle suplex.

Kal drops Chella onto Syl. Chella back elbows Syl then 2nd rope diving armdrags her. Chella 2nd rope twisting crossbodies Syl. Syl throws Chella back by the hair. Chella's head is banged off the buckles. Fury hits shots on Chella and Gen doesn't care at all. Fury suplexes Chella for 1 then cranks on her head.

Chella hits kicks on Fury then legsweeps her. Syl grabs holi's leg outside and Chella can't make the tag because of it. Fury backbreakers Chella for 2. Fury corner splashes Chella. Syl side slams Chella. Gen legdrops Chella for 2

Holi and Syl get in. Holi hits back elbows then atomic drops Syl and Fury. Syl and Fury's heads are banged together. Gen says something on the mic while this happens. Kal hits a leg lariat on Syl for 2 and Gen breaks the pin up. Holi is thrown into Chella on the ropes and knocks her off. Kal tries to pin Syl but Gen reverses it for Syl and Syl pins Kal.

Thoughts: I liked this. There was a decent story here with Gen not wanting to get involved but changing her mind and giving her team the win. The action was fast paced here and there was a ton going on in this one.

We see more footage from Lana's house. Jones and Betty complain about Holly. Betty says Holly doesn't belong with them. Jones says she has an idea and they will get Holly back.

They tease Holly having to pick between Betty and Jones or Lana next week.

Abilene Maverick comes out with a different hairstyle and look than usual. She joins the commentators. She says everyone missed her.

Winner gets a title shot - The Classmaster vs Santana Garrett

SG = Santana Garrett

Americana is not with Santana as the announcers said Americana's son Levi broke his arm on a playground.

Class pokes SG in the head. Class catches a crossbody. SG sunset flips her but Class doesn't go over. SG wristlocks her then hits a forearm. SG armdrags her then jack knife pins her. SG chases Class around the ring but Samantha Smart gets in the way. Class bangs SG's head off the apron.

Class knees SG in the gut then does something like a fameasser on her. Class misses a legdrop then misses a corner facekick. SG rolls her up for 2. Class bangs SG's head off the buckles. Class hits corner spears. Abilene says she can find the next WOW champ on commentary and says she has a new protege. She says millions of people know her. Class leg drops SG's inner legs.

Class does the scholar collar. SG jawbreakers Class. SG hits back elbows. SG headflips into a chest forearm. SG cartwheel back elbows Class then superkicks her. SG indian deathlocks her. Smart chokes SG on the ropes and Class running facekicks SG to win.

Thoughts: Class winning shouldn't be surprising due to the storyline but it was. That's one of her biggest wins so far. The match wasn't bad. SG's offense was mostly on point here and they had an acceptable match here.

Samantha Smart and The Classmaster talk on the mic after. She says everyone else is collecting participation trophies and she's collecting wins. Smart says Class agreed that if Class beat Santana, she'd get a title shot. Dave says she will get the match. Smart says her assistant will send Beast cleaning supplies to polish the belt as soon it will belong to them.

Smart talks trash to the fans. Dave asks Abilene who her surprise is. Abilene says her protege is coming soon.

Overall thoughts: This was one of the best shows WOW has ever done. We got some stuff built for next time. We got some outside of the ring segments. The matches were fine and they teased some stuff for the future. Everything went well here and I'd have to give this one a 9 out of 10. While I do miss some of the girls from past seasons, I do think this is some of WOW's best work right now and it's good to see the promotion doing well.

Thoughts: It was very average as expected. 3 of the girls in this one aren't that good and it was clear that this was not going to be great early on.

Rian vs HANAKO vs Syuri

Rian is knocked over by both Syu headscissors Hana out. Rian hits chest forearms on Syu then Syu hits knees to the gut. Syu running knees Rian and underhook suplexes her for 2. We get a 3 person sleeper spot.

Hana knocks Syu off the apron and running boots Rian. Hana does her head and arm choke on Rian and wins.

Thoughts: It was a shorter three way with the usual limitations three ways have. It was nothing special as expected. Hana's finisher still sucks. I was a bit surprised Syuri lost here but she has not been featured as a big name much lately.

Goddess of Stardom Tag League 2024 Blue Goddess Block - Rina and Azusa Inaba vs Saori Anou and Natuspoi

AI = Azusa Inaba

Anou gets hit from behind by AI to start. Anou takes a bulldog and basement dropkick sequence then is stomped on by both opponents. Poi and Anou hit stereo kicks. Rina takes a double kick to the back and a double basement dropkick.

Poi snapmares Rina off the top and rolls her up for 2 after an Anou suplex. Anou top rope dropkicks Rina and Poi hits a top rope crossbody on Rina. Poi misses a 180 splash on Rina. Rina reverse suplexes Poi for 2.

Rina hits a top rope double knee drop on Poi for 2. Poi la magistrals Rina and pins her.

Thoughts: The finish wasn't timed well here. It should have been part of a greater Poi comeback that didn't exist in this one. Rina and AI as usual brought very little to the table and anyone could have had the same match or better with Poi and Anou. This wasn't that good.

Mayu Iwatani & Momo Kohgo vs Maika & Mina Shirakawa vs Yuna Mizumori & Aya Sakura vs Natsuko Tora & Ruaka

Mayu got the win over Aya here. It went 7:43 which is obviously not close to enough time for the amount of people involved in this one. They did what they could but it was your usual forgettable multi-person tag with us not seeing a lot of anyone.

Goddess of Stardom Tag League 2024 Red Goddess Block - Hazuki & Koguma vs Tomoka Inaba & Ranna Yagami

TI = Tomoka Inaba

Kog is in the ring and wants to do her taunt but Ran runs away for some reason. Ran and TI do rock, paper, scissors to determine who gets in. Kog then does her taunt and tries to get Ran to do it too. Syuri comes in and yells at the girls not to do this.

Ran forearm and leg lariats Haz for 2. Ran rolls up Haz for 2 and hits forearms. Haz pump kicks her for 2. Haz puts Ran on her shoulders and Kog neckbreakers Ran for 2.

Haz corner back elbows Ran then codebreakers her while she's on the middle buckle. Haz top rope sentons Ran and wins.

Thoughts: It was alright. It took a while to get going with the stuff involving Ran not wanting to do Kog's taunt. It was a normal math for the most part otherwise but it was alright. TI didn't get much in on this one.

TI slaps hands with Haz after and Kog does her taunt on Ran.

Goddess of Stardom Tag League 2024 Red Goddess Block - Sayaka Kurara and Tam Nakano vs AZM and Miyu Amasaki

Tam and Saya come out in wedding veils and bottoms as usual. Saya and Miyu start us off. Miyu wristlocks Saya then Saya reverses it. Miyu side headlocks her then takes her over. Saya dropkicks her. AZM misses a top rope double stomp on Tam. Tam backdrops AZM for 2. Tam spinning high kicks AZM. AZM suplexes Tam then Tam high kicks her. Saya hits dropkicks on Miyu then Miyu flying back elbows her. Miyu puts her in the scholar collar. Tam hanging dragon sleepers AZM while Saya hanging sleepers Miyu. Tam and Miyu then hit stereo crossbodies off the top.

Miyu and Saya trade chest forearms. Miyu ddt's her. Tam and Saya hit a dropkick + superkick then they both dive together outside onto their opponents. Saya top rope dropkicks Miyu. Miyu pendulum ddt's Saya then Saya spears her for 2.

Miyu rolls up Saya for 2. Miyu and AZM hit stereo suplexes. Miyu hammerlock ddt's Saya for 2. Saya takes a rare double fisherman's suplex then Miyu sitout pedigrees her to win.

Thoughts: It was an okay tag here with everyone getting good stuff out of each other. The two teams matched up well and the younger girls did good for the spot they were in.

Miyu and AZM talk on the mic after.

Goddess of Stardom Tag League 2024 Blue Goddess Block - Starlight Kid & Suzu Suzuki vs Hanan & Saya Iida

Suzu and Han trade forearms. Suzu is tripped into a Saya elbow drop. Suzu then takes a double bulldog. Han misses a facekick on the ropes. Han and Saya are stacked on each other on the ropes and take double drive by kicks.

Han leg lariats Kid on the ropes. Kid 2nd rope twisting crossbodies her. Kid dropkicks Han in the knee then pulls the knee down over the 2nd rope. Kid dragon screws the knee over the ropes then stretch mufflers her. Kid thne grabs onto the arm as well and Han ropebreaks.

Han running back elbows Kid. Saya double sledgehammer shots Kid and Kid takes a fameasser from Han. Kid kicks Han in the back of the head then cross legged fisherman suplexes her. Han holds on and cuty specials her and backdrops her.

Saya and Suzu get in. Saya shoulders her over then sliding lariats her for 2. Saya takes corner attacks and a double basement dropkick. Suzu takes a leg lariat then a sliding lariat for 2. Suzu takes a double team lifting reverse ddt bomb. Saya and Suzu trade forearms. Suzu tequila shots her for 2. Suzu hits head kicks on Saya then Saya bridge pins her for 2. Kid flying headscissors Han.

Kid top rope planchas outside onto Han and Saya. Saya takes a half-nelson slam + lariat combo. Suzu then hits Saya with 2 germans and wins.

Thoughts: It was okay. They kept it moving and definitely traded pace and flow for a real story or face/heel work. It wasn't anything you'd remember. I thought they hid some of Hanan's weaknesses well here.

Suzu and Kid get on the mic after and have words for their opponents. Saya then gets on the mic and rams her head at Suzu. Hanan then gets on the mic. Kid and Suzu then get on the mic and close the show.

Overall thoughts: There was nothing must see on this one. Everything was either average or a little better than average. The semi main was maybe the best thing on this show. I wouldn't recommend it and thought it was just a 5 out of 10 overall.

WWE Crown Jewel 2024 11/2/2024

WWE Crown Jewel 2024 11/2/2024

We are in Riyadh, Saudia Arabia.

We see various wrestlers arrive.

Roman Reigns and The Usos (Jey Uso and Jimmy Uso) vs. The Bloodline (Solo Sikoa, Jacob Fatu, and Tama Tonga)

Jey got a bigger pop coming out than Roman did. The crowd chanted we want Roman after the match had gone on for a while but Jey tagged in Jimmy instead. Jimmy and Roman had an issue with this. Roman got hot tagged in later in the match and immediately squared off with Solo. They totally botch a pinfall attempt here with an Uso not breaking up a Solo pin on Roman but the ref making it seem like he did anyway.  Roman threw Tama in the ring and Tama landed on the ref. Solo then ended up getting the pin on Roman after Fatu hit some attacks.

Thoughts: The match really wasn't that great. There weren't any big spots, there wasn't any weapons usage and there weren't even a ton of near falls or anything. They didn't play up the possible issues between the faces at all even when they could have to excuse the finish. This was disappointing.

Solo puts the necklace on over top Roman. Roman tries to get some shots in then Roman and Jimmy get beaten up by Bloodline. Jey tries to help out and gets beaten up. Solo puts a chair around Jey's neck. Sami Zayn's music then hits and he comes out. Solo tries to get Sami to work with them. The crowd chants, "Sami Uso". Sami goes to hug Solo and exploders him. Sami then gets a group beating and The Uso's and roman save him. Sami and Roman try to hit Solo together but Solo slides out and they nail each other. Jimmy argues with Sami about it and Jey tries to play peacemaker.

We get clips of a Gunther interview. He says Cody has a lot of support from the fans and the company. He says he beat Orton last time in Saudi Arabia and will choke out Cody. He says Cody will realize he's the secondary champ.

We then get clips of a Cody interview. Cody says nobody looks better than Gunther, but both skirmishes with him went his (Cody's) way. Cody says Gunther is good at getting under Cody's skin. Cody said if he loses, the winner of The Rumble might try him as they may see him as the weaker champ and he doesn't want that.

WWE Women's Tag Titles - Jade Cargill and Bianca Belair (c) vs. Damage CTRL (Kairi Sane and Iyo Sky) vs. Meta-Four (Lash Legend and Jakara Jackson) vs. Chelsea Green and Piper Niven

All the girls wore full body outfits here. Iyo missed a pop up spot here and uppercutted one of the girls right in the mouth in a funny moment. They built some to a Jade vs Lash fight in this one. Green teased doing a moonsault off the post but thought better of it and just jumped off the apron where she got caught by Piper. Jakara got on Lash's shoulders and dove out onto various girls. Jade and Bianca ended up winning here after hitting a doomsday device on Piper.

Thoughts: They put out a pretty good effort for this one with a lot of dives and girls doing things they don't normally do to try and get this over. They had a rough moment or two but it was entertaining and they far surpassed expectations for a match like this where there's a lot of limitations to work with.

Seth Rollins vs Bronson Reed

They start off fighting on the ramp as Seth hit Reed during his entrance. Seth put Reed's jacket over his head and hit him then Reed rolled Seth down the ramp. Seth then hit a tope on Reed. Seth runs at Reed outside, gets caught and is slammed over the rail onto a desk chair and the floor.

Seth is sent into the steps. Reed lariats Seth then hits a top rope splash. Reed misses a top rope splash. Seth hits a curbstomp for 2.

Seth hits some shots and ends up taking a butt drop. Seth is sent into the corner chest first. Seth goes for the slam but Reed falls on him. They trade chops. Reed goes for a powerbomb and takes a ddt.

Seth hits lariats and is stopped up top. Seth hits a top rope splash for 1. Reed bobdyblocks him and sitout powerbombs him. Reed hits a death valley driver for 2. Reed top rope superplexes him for 2. Sth hits slaps and is lariated over. Seth tells him he should have finished him while he had the chance.

Reed wants to hit a splash but Seth keeps moving out of the way. Reed bangs Seth's head off the commentary table and Seth ends up curb stomping him on the steps. Reed gets in and takes another curb stomp. Seth then hits a curb stomp off the buckles and wins.

Thoughts: It started off hot and really slowed down as the match went on. It just didn't really get to the next level but what they did made sense and the match was fine with Reed being the bigger guy and Seth working as the underdog. Reed got busted open from the curbstomp onto the steps.

Reed gets up after and they stare down.

WWE Women's Crown Jewel Title Match - Nia Jax vs. Liv Morgan

Nia shoves Liv over and drops her with a headbutt. Nia elbow drops her and hits a corner splash. Nia misses a splash and Liv clips her. Liv step up knees her in the corner and pulls the leg around the ropes. Liv ddt's her for 2.

Nia pop-up samoan drops her for 2. Nia corner hip attacks her then misses a corner spear. Liv stands on Nia's back but Nia catches her and does a 2nd rope samoan drop. Nia bangs Liv's head off the mat. Liv sunset bombs her off the 2nd rope.

Tiffany Stratton then comes out teasing a cash-in. Nia confronts her as she tries to do it. Tiff says she was trying to cash in on Liv. They argue and Liv baseball slides Nia. Liv goes for a tope and Nia forearms her. Nia tells Tiff to get out of here. Liv crucifix bombs her off a pop-up samoan drop though it really looked more like Liv took the samoan drop. Nia uranages Liv for 2.

Tiff goes to cash in again. Raquel Rodriguez fights Tiff for the briefcase. Nia's throat is pulled over the 2nd rope and Liv 2nd rope codebreakers her. Dominik Mysterio then appears and Raquel backs down Tiff. Liv joins in and Nia bodyblocks all 3 against the rails.

Nia splashes Liv on the ropes then legdrops her. Dom gets on the apron then Raquel kicks Nia off the buckles. Liv hits oblivion and wins.

Thoughts: It was short, filled with shenanigans nothing too special. The girls did what they were supposed to do with the big girl vs little girl style of match but there was not a lot of wrestling here once you took out the shenanigans.

Triple H gives Liv the Crown Jewel title after. I think the title is bigger than Liv is.

Randy Orton vs Kevin Owens

KO is wearing a Cowboy Bob Orton shirt. This is after he wore a Dusty Rhodes shirt either this week or last week. KO hits Orton as he poses on the ropes and chairs him. KO hits shots on Orton outside and Orton fights back. 2 refs are there trying to stop this. Orton eye pokes him and backdrops him on the commentary table.

KO's head is banged off the steps. KO chairs him in the ring. The ref takes the chair. KO then stunners the ref. Various officials come out. Orton chairs KO. Orton backdrops KO on the commentary table. Daivari takes the chair from Orton and is sent into the post. Orton hits a draping ddt. Aldis and Pearce then come out to stop Orton. Orton RKO's Pearce. KO sends Orton into the post.and Orton sends KO over the rail. They fight in the crowd. KO hits him with a box lid and puts him on a table. KO then jumps off a rail and elbow drops Orton through a table. And that's it.

Thoughts:
The match never officially got started and was a total brawl. This feud wasn't really explained well but they did what they could with it.

WWE United States Title Triple Threat Match - LA Knight (c) vs. Andrade vs. Carmelo Hayes

Andrade and Melo trade shots as LA watches. LA hits punches on both then LA takes a double superkick. Melo 2nd rope twisting lariats him. LA pulls Melo out and bangs his head off the commentary table. LA slingshot shoulderblocks Andrade then slingshots Melo onto him. LA ddt's Melo for 2.

Andrade 2nd rope flipping russian legsweeps Melo. Andrade flying forearms him. LA is back body dropped out. Andrade top rope moonsaults outside. Melo tope con hilos Andrade. Melo blocks a BFT with a handstand. Andrade spinning back elbows Melo. Melo hits a codebreaker + senton and does his suplex cutter on Andrade for 2.

Andrade canadian destroyers Melo. Andrade hits a top rope moonsault into a standing moonsault on LA. Andrade hits a top rope moonsault slam on Melo. LA does a double jump double elbow drop on both opponents.

LA misses his jump up to the top like usual and crotches himself. He top rope germans Andrade. Melo hits a top rope nothing but net on LA for 2. Melo goes for a la mistica facebuster but LA hits a BFT on him and wins.

Thoughts: It was a 3-way and ended at the right time as it was wearing out its welcome. It worked better than you would expect but it had the usual issues with 3-ways with it being hard to build stories and being spotty. They also did too much here. I have no idea where this leaves Melo and Andrade booking wise but I wasn't exactly high on them beating LA anyway.

They had a nice video package with past champions for the main.

WWE Crown Jewel Title Match - Cody Rhodes vs. Gunther

They get off to a slow start. Gunther blocks a takedown and Cody hammerlocks him. Gunther snapmares him and Cody armdrags and armlocks him. Cody rolls through an armdrag and hits his own. Gunther shoulders him over and side headlock takeovers him. They stand off after getting out of sleepers.

Cody hits punches and Gunther chops him over. Cody hits lariats and sends Gunther out. Gunther goes for a sleeper but is sent out. Cody topes him, gets caught and is thrown into the apron edge. Cody goes for a slam but his back gives up. Gunther butt drops Cody's back.

Gunther sleepers him. Gunther hits chops then Cody slams him. Cody gordbusters him then Gunther slams him. Cody powerslams Gunther then hits punches and an elbow. Cody hits a cody cutter for 2.

Cody goes for a disaster kick but Gunther catches it and crabs him. Gunther then sleepers him. Gunther germans him and sleepers him again. Cody hits jawbreakers then hits cross rhodes. Gunther shotgun dropkicks him and powerbombs him.

Gunther piefaces him around and hits chops. Cody tells him to hit him and Cody fires up with shots. Cody backdrops Gunther. Gunther lariats Cody then Cody hits a cross rhodes on Gunther. Cody runs up the buckles but is caught with a sleeper. Cody then pins Gunther.

Thoughts: Man was this disappointing. One would expect Gunther to chop the crap out of Cody until Cody makes his comeback and either wins or loses. That didn't happen here. They did nothing special in this one. There were no huge spots or bigger stories in this. It was worked like any other match between them would be and with both of them not being super charismatic, it was not that interesting. This should have been an epic and was nothing close to it.

Cody, Liv, some officials and Triple H then come in the ring after.

Overall thoughts: It was the usual disappointing Crown Jewel show. WWE does not let its wrestlers go all out for these shows and does not try to produce epic matches for these shows. I have no idea why since they are getting paid big money for it, since it's a PLE and since the wrestlers and fans want it, but they do it. They basically mailed in the main event. Nia vs Liv was nothing. The Bloodline match was by the numbers and even the men's 3-way was on the shorter end of things. There was nothing must see here and it's a shame since this should have been a classic. WWE has put out better Raw matches than what they did here. I give this a 2 out of 10 just for the sheer lack of care WWE had with this one and for them handicapping everything on purpose for unknown reasons. I'm mad I wasted my time watching this and this was so bad that I'm tempted to not watch another one of these again.

AEW Collision 11/2/2024

AEW Collision 11/2/2024

Last week's show is here: https://prowresblog.blogspot.com/2024/10/aew-collision-10262024.html

We open the show up with all the wrestlers on the stage or in the ring. Private Party is welcomed out by Tony Schiavone. PP gets a, "You Deserve It" chant. Zay said they said, "new year, new champs" at the beginning of the year and then says they did it. Quen says they want to say thank you to The Bucks for making them earn this.

Zay says they are willing to defend the titles against anyone and everybody and say it means everybody. The Infantry, who haven't been on this show in months look interested. They hold the tag titles up in front of FTR. Dax shoves Zay and Garcia breaks it up. Truth Magnum says we are here to celebrate the 5 year journey of Private Party.

Turbo says what's in the past is in the past. Turbo says it's Private Party's time now. He says the sign outside says AEW: Where the best tag teams wrestle, not Private Party, The Outrunners or FTR. Zay says the party won't end and says there's no party like a private party and says that's a flex.

We see Mariah May and Anna Jay walking in. Anna says she can, has and will beat May.

Renee interviews The Acclaimed. Renee says they are the most winningest team in AEW history. Bowens congratulates Private Party but says they are coming for the tag titles. Max says they won't stop just because it's not The Bucks. He says when The Acclaimed and Private Party lock-up, there's only one outcome that can happen. Max says Private Party are still on the come up and says they don't have friendship bracelets and money coming out of them like he does. He says they also don't have MVP begging them to join like they do. Max says he doesn't know about joining them or not. Max had cut off Bowens earlier then Bowens cuts Max off at the end as they tease dissension.

Day of the Dead Match - Thunder Rosa vs Harley Cameron

HC is wearing pink cat facepaint. We have a skull with candles and a board with a cat on it. Rosa comes out with two people in facepaint holding candles a woman who is kind of dressed like her. Rosa has a picture of Harley and is wearing skeleton paint. Rosa puts HC's photo near candles like a dead relative.

They shove each other. HC hits knees and a step up enzugiri. Rosa gets behind her and throws her. Rosa armdrags her and enzugiri's her. Rosa dropkicks her through the ropes. Rosa hits her with fake tombstone and a trash can lid.

Rosa holds onto a fan and HC and walks the rail. HC crotches her on it then bangs her head off the floor. Rosa is thrown into the steps. HC is thrown through a board. We go to PiP break and return.

They hit lariats on the ropes on each other. Rosa chest forearms her then they facebuster each other down at the same time. HC codebreakers her. Rosa bridges the skull on the two chairs and HC hits her with a pinata.HC suplexes her through the bridged skull for 2.

HC bangs Rosa's head off the chairs. HC running kees a chair when Rosa moves. Rosa chairs HC. Rosa then puts a trash can on HC's head and kicks it. Rosa runs up a table and dropkicks the can on HC's head. Rosa then pins her to win.

Thoughts: It was a fun little hardcore match. It was nothing ground breaking or anything but it was something different and it worked fine enough.

Lexy interviews Roderick Strong, Taven and Bennett. Strong says Shane Taylor is just an obstacle on the road to MJF. Strong says Taven and Bennett got a big win on Rampage last week and says Cole got a big win on Dynamite.

Brian Cage and Lance Archer come in. Cage says they've been leaving bodies laying. Lance says if they get in their way, everybody dies.

Kyle Fletcher vs Komander

Oh wow, I wonder who is going to win this one. Kyle has black short trunks with gold/red on them and long black boots now. He throws his jacket in Kom's face and hits him. Kyle throws him on a slam. Kyle hits another slam and kicks him while he's in tree of woe.

Kom is caught on a crossbody and crucifixes Kyle off of it. Kom flying headscissors Kyle then dropkicks him. Kom hits chops on Kyle. Kom walks up the buckles, does rope tricks and is pushed off into the rails outside. Kom takes a powerbomb on the apron edge.

We go to PiP break, full break and return. Kom hits a 2nd rope shiranui. Kyle forearm topes Kom outside then boots Alex in the face outside. Kom walks up the ropes and does a blind moonsault on Kyle. Kom hits kicks then standing spanish flies him for 2.

Kom moonsaults in Kyle's double boots. Kyle hits a sitout last ride for 2. Kyle's face bleeds some. Kom hurircanrana's him for 2. Kyle blocks a poisonrana but they roll with it and Kom poisonrana's Kyle on the floor. Kyle drops him on the apron. Kom walks up the buckles and hits a moonsault. Kyle flips Kom with a lariat. Kyle running boots him in the corner. Kom double springboard canadian destroyers him. Kom rope walks and corkscrew dives Kyle outside. Kom is crotched up top and Kyle brainbusters him. Kyle brainbusters him on top buckle and wins.

Thoughts:
This was horrible. It was the worst of both guys. They didn't sell squat and they did way too much. And who thought it was a good idea to have Kyle go even with Komander when Kyle is a guy they are trying to push and Kom is a perennial jobber? This was one of the worst booked matches of the year and that's saying something for AEW. And Kyle got bloodied up too by Komander to make him look even worse.
Mark Davis comes out after. They get in each others faces but nothing ends up happening.

Jack Perry does a promo. He says things are changing these days. Daniel Garcia interrupts. He says he wanted to grab him by the throat and put him up against the wall again. He says that's not the best way to communicate to him. He says Jack has been handed everything he has had his entire life while Garcia worked for it. Jack says he has already fought for everything because he loved it. he says it turned his back on him. He says Garcia still thinks there's good and bad but says he's afraid to be the person he has to be. He says he's afraid to sacrifice everything he loves and that is why he's not ready.

Lance Archer and Brian Cage vs Shaun Smith and Joe Keys

It's such a shame with Joe. If he were 5 inches taller he'd be so much further ahead Cage takes control early and hits a release german on Joe. Lance running back elbows Joe in the corner. Lance lariats him then hits a black hole slam on Smith. smith takes a deadlift superplex in from Cage. Lance chokeslams Keys. Smith takes a powerbomb + chokeslam combo. cAge pins Smith.

Thoughts: It was a squash as expected here with the big guys beating the crap out of their opponents.

Lance hits a blackout on Joe after and Cage hits a drill claw on Smith. Undisputed Kingdom then save the jobbers in a surprise.

We see Kyle O'Reilly watching this in the back.

AR Fox is interviewed by Lexy. Nick Wayne, Mother Wayne and Kip Sabian interrupt. Nick says he's finally seeing him after a year. Nick says a lot has changed since then and says he was taught to never forgot who wronged him. Nick says he's changed. He says he's going to face Hook next week. AR says he doesn't care about that and challenges him to Collision next week.

Kris Statlander does a promo. She says her coming for Mone's TBS Title should be no big deal. She says Mone shields herself and hides in a private dressing room. She says she's afraid because she knows she's the target. Kris says to be prepared to show her worth. She says she walked in to Full Gear as TBS champ last year and walks out as champ this year.

Jon Moxley, Wheeler Yuta and Marina Shafir come out. Mox does a promo in the seating area. He says OC wants to be the king and he's got the right idea but it's not that simple. Mox says the game already began and says the question is if he can even make it to Full Gear with his body and mind intact. He puts over Yuta as honest and hardworking. He says he loves yuta and would do anything for him. He says Yuta understands sacrifice and putting your ego aside for the goal and objective. He says Yuta is a Philadelphia hero.

Action Andretti comes out. He says Yuta is not a hometown hero and not what Philly represents. He says Yuta looks like he came straight out of amish town with a horse and buggy. He says if you want to talk about people coming out of Philly, you can talk about him. AA says they aren't about talking here but action. He says he came to throw hands with any single one of them here. Pac then nails AA from behind.

Pac vs Action Andretti

Pac pump kicks AA then throws him hard into the buckles. Pac foot chokes him. AA is thrown out. We go to PiP break and return. Pac suplexes him. Pac running euros him in the corner and side headlocks him. AA handspring back elbows him.

AA is popped up and dropkicks Pac. AA tope con hilos him. AA hits corner punches on Pac then enzugiri's him. AA springboard kicks him. AA falcon arrows him for 2. Yuta tries to get in and Shafir hits AA on a springboard attempt.

Pac pump kicks him. Pac hits a superplex and puts him in the brutalizer. Pac then submits him.

Thoughts
: It was a match. I don't have too many thoughts on it. It wasn't exactly as high flying as you would hope for with these two and wasn't anything too great.

Pac keeps the hold on after. Orange Cassidy appears in the crowd. He says "go birds" and says he loves Philly. He talks about Yuta sleeping on his couch and says Chuck Taylor was his roommate. He says that person in the ring is not Yuta. He says the old Yuta would not do what they did to Chuck. OC says Mox is just using Yuta and doesn't care about him. OC says he needs to show everyone Mox is not the man he says he is. He says in 2 weeks he will bring back the old Wheeler Yuta, the old AEW and beats Mox to be the next world champ.

Mox slaps Yuta and tells him to go get OC. Yuta goes after him with a chair. OC gives Yuta the chance to hit him with the chair. Yuta does and Mox is wondering what's up. OC then orange punches Yuta. OC goes up the stairs and leaves.

Thoughts: Top Flight is here yet refused to help out their guy for unknown reasons.

Malakai Black does a video talking about Adam Cole. He says he's been sitting still for so long that he's becoming a shadow. He says him and Cole are becoming relics. He says he wants Cole to bury the noises in his head and says he will show him.

Kyle Fletcher and Konosuke Takeshita are interviewed. Kyle says everyone wants to talk about the past but he wants to talk about the future. He says the future looks like AEW gold. He says him and Takeshita beat Private Party months ago and says they should jump back in the tag division. Takeshita says he will end Ricochet on Wednesday and tells Ric to bring anyone he wants.

Lio Rush vs Ari Daivari

Ari throws a shirt at him and stomps on him in the corner. Ari slams him. Lio springboards off the ropes and headscissors him. Lio hits punches in the corner and the ref pulls him off. Ari lariats Lio.

Lio rolls him up then Ari reverse ddt's him for 2. They trade punches. Lio hits some forearms then lariats him over. Lio falcon arrows him for 2. Ari goes out, Lio tries to tope him but topes Woods instead. Lio then topes Mark Sterling for yelling at him. Lio tigeer feints into a 619 on Ari outside.

Ari ddt's him. Lio hits a seated springboard stunner then hits a top rope splash to win.

Thoughts: Lio won as expected here. It was on the shorter end of things and was just average.

MxM Collection and Johnny TV are interviewed by Lexy. JTV says fashion saves more lives than doctors. He says MxM have "it". MxM thank him. JTV says to slide into his DM's if they want to collab and then he gets pulled away somehow.

Roderick Strong vs Shane Taylor

The Infantry are with Shane Taylor Promotions now which is a new development that was not explained on TV.

Shane backs up Strong on the lock up and hits him in the gut. Shane hits punches and puts his foot on Strong. We see MJF watching from his plce. Strong hits forearms, gets distracted by Bravo maybe then is dropped with a punch.

Shane chops Strong. Strong dropkicks him through the ropes and pounds on him outside. Strong takes a bridged stunner.

We go to PiP break and then full break. Shane misses a legdrop on the apron. Strong basseball slides Shane off the apron. Strong hits Shane off the apron. Strong hits flying forearms then flying lariats him for 1. Strong flying kicks Shane then olympic slams him for 2.

Strong misses a flying knee and is knocked down with a punch. Shane uranages him and splashes him for 2. Shane hits a big punch. Strong jumping knees him. The ref botches the pin count and Strong gets the win.

Thoughts: Strong was a face here and I think it took a while to catch onto that. It was okay with Shane looking good as usual but it could have been better. Shane got dropped hard on the olympic slam he took.

They announce a Full Gear 4-Way Contenders Series for tag title shots. There will be 3 matches with the winners of each moving onto a 4-way at Full Gear against Private Party.

We get a Mina Shirakawa video. She says she's coming.

AEW Women's Title - Mariah May (c) vs Anna Jay

May backs her up in the corner then they slap each other. Anna headlock takeovers her. Anna hits knees to the gut and flipping neckbreakers her. May hits forearms on the back of Anna's neck. May ties Anna up in the ropes and dropkicks her in the back. We go to PiP break and return.

Anna hits forearms and sends May hard into the buckles. Anna flying forearms her then basement dropkicks her. They try pins on each other. Anna flatliners her then backcrackers her.

Anna spinning heel kicks her in the corner and May does a hanging sleeper in the corner. May 2nd rope dropkicks her. May backdrops her hard on her neck. May running knees her for 2. Anna neckbreakers May over the 2nd rope.

Anna blocks a handstand headscissors in the corner then blockbusters May for 2. Anna grounded sleepers her. May rolls back and tries to pin her off of it. May stun guns her then rolls her up with a bridge to win.

Thoughts: It wasn't anything special. It got lots of hype but neither of these two are great workers and this wasn't going be that good. It didn't get a ton of time and they really didn't go all out here. This was really disappointing and had a weak finish.

May offers Anna a hand after but then pulls her hand away and mocks her outside.

Overall thoughts: I didn't like this episode. We had the usual random matches. May and Anna disappointed and did nothing special in the spotlight here. Fletcher/Komander was one of AEW's worst booked matches this year with Kom kicking Kyle's butt and busting his open while both no sold. Strong and The Undisputed Kingdom are now faces but they didn't tell anyone and Top Flight watched Action Andretti get beaten up and did absolutely nothing about it. Rosa/Harley and Shane/Strong were the only decent things on this one and I wouldn't recommend it. I give this one a 3 out of 10.
