Wardlow vs CM Punk
This was slow but they did the big man vs little man match here. Wardlow hit a bunch of powerbombs and tried to pin him, but MJF got on the apron and told him no. Wardlow hit more powerbombs then powerbombed him through a table. Punk was almost counted out which would have been a solid ending to this but they had him make the count instead. MJF called for more and Punk rolled up Wardlow in a stupid ending. MJF then pushed him and started poking him with his finger. Wardlow grabbed it and Shawn Spears came in to stop it. AEW loves jobbing out their hosses and Wardlow lost again like he almost always seems to do.
Powerhouse Hobbs with Ricky Starks vs Dante Martin
Lio Rush was supposed to be out here but I guess they thought better of it. Dante rushed Hobbs near the ropes and they both went over hard. Dante ran the apron and dove on Hobbs only to get spinebustered on the floor. Hobbs hit a great clothesline here and a nice head punch. Dante was thrown into the buckles and did a silly looking bump over the top before Starks stomped him. Dante had a nice comeback with a big rebound off the ropes into a dropkick then a high missile dropkick. Hobbs hit a body block and Starks got on the apron, only to be pulled down by Jay Lethal. Dante then did his double jump moonsault and won it. this was a pretty good match with both looking good here. The finish was a little lame though and Lethal clearly replaced Lio, who dared to cross the boss this week.
Jericho and the Inner Circle were interviewed. Eddie sneaked in as Jericho talked about 2.0. Eddie told him to mind his business and said he wants Daniel Garcia instead of Jericho. Eddie hinted that PnP are not tag champs because of Jericho and Jericho told him to get out of their business. PnP left and Jericho said Eddie can come down to the ring tonight but if he gets involved, he's going to beat him up too.
MJF then came out. He said Punk won tonight but he got powerbombed to hell and said we would finally get the match we all want - CM Punk vs Shawn Spears!
The UE and the Bucks did a promo. Britt Baker came in and said her and Cole would take on OC and Kris Statlander in a mix tag match.
Adam Page came out to talk. He said he needed a new challenger and Dan Lambert interrupted. Dan questioned his cowboy credentials and brought up famous Texas cowboys in wrestling. He said Page was full of cowboy sh*t. Page threatened him and Dan said he would leave then lance Archer came after him. Dan told him not to miss his opportunity while he is in the ring with the champion and Lance beat up Page. Archer then hit his reverse razor's edge on Page threw a chair.
Arn was interviewed with his son and Lee Johnson. Arn said they would experience something today they haven't before. He said it was Horsemen country then FTR and Tully came in. Tully invited Arn to join them. They dared Lee and Brock Anderson to challenge them next week and they said okay.
Jade Cargill and Mark Sterling got a video package. Jade said she did everything she said she would do and said TBS stands for "That B*tch Show".
Serena Deeb vs Hikaru Shida
Shida got her clipped by Deeb during her entrance. Deeb worked on the knee and won quick with a tequila sunrise. The refs tried to help Shida after and Deeb beat Shida's knee with the kendo stick.
Jurassic Express and Christian Cage did an interview. They said any top five team that wants them can challenge. John Silver and Adam Reynolds said they are top five challengers and challenged them for Rampage. They agreed.
Matt Hardy and Private Party talked in the ring. Matt said he would delete Penta tonight and send himt othe hospital to be with his brother.
Matt Hardy vs Penta El Zero Miedo
They both did their crowd taunts to start and we went to break soon after. Penta hit some sling blades and a bad tilt-a-whirl backbreaker. Hardy got tied up on the buckles and Penta double stomped him from the top buckle. Hardy missed a moonsault from the top then took a package piledriver fro the Penta win. This wasn't good.
Penta and Alex did a promo on Malakai Black after, saying they would teach him respect. The lights went out and Malakai Black teleported in. He got a good kick in on Alex then high kicked Penta. He went for Penta's mask then the Varisty Blondes stopped him. The lights went out and Brody King appeared in the ring and took out the VB's and Penta.
Leyla Hirsch, Red Velvet and Kris Statlander were interviewed. Leyla called Kris selfish for focusing on the mixed tag match and not their match. Red Velvet tried to make peace.
The Acclaimed vs Bear Country
The Bears shoulderblocked them down early and Boulder gorilla pressed Bowens on Max. Max hit a crossbody off the top on Bronson. We went to break and Bowens tried to sunset flip Bronson but got sat on. Boulder hit a double reverse STO on the Acclaimed then they missed a bear bomb. Max hit a top rope elbow and beat Bronson to win it. Another hoss, another loss. This was one of the better matches both teams were involved in but I really don't know why the Bears were selected for the loss here.
Sting then came out and Darby tope'd Max with the skateboard. Bowens went for the boombox but Sting hit it with the bat. Max then took a scorpion deathdrop.
Pac got a vignette. He had a bandana over both eyes and said even though he is blinded, he sees everything. He said his vision has never been so clear.
Matt Hardy was interviewed with Private Party. He said something has to change and Andrade El Idolo came in with his translator. He said he wanted to offer a deal with Matt and Matt said lets talk in the office. Private Party were gestured to stay behind.
TNT Title - Sammy Guevara vs Daniel Garcia
Eddie Kingston and Chris Jericho are at ringside. They exchanged hard slaps early and Sammy hit a twisting dive on him. Sammy jumped in mid-air and was caught with a backbreaker. Sammy did a double jump 450 to the outside on Garcia. They botched a cross roads and Sammy tried his double jump cutter. He was caught in a choke and piledrivered him for 2. 2.0 then came down and jumped Eddie and Jericho. 2.0 tried to get involved but Sammy hit a GTH and won it. The match didn't really have any story to it and certainly should not have been in the main event.
2.0 jumped Sammy, Eddie and Jericho after but Jericho cleared them out with his bat. This angered Eddie and that ended the show.
Overall thoughts: I liked Hobbs/Martin and Bear Country/Acclaimed. The main really shouldn't have been the main and wasn't too special. The Matt Hardy stuff didn't work, Lethal now being with Dante just makes things more confusing and Wardlow losing to Punk didn't work.
