WWE NXT 1/11/2022

WWE NXT 1/11/2022

Bron Breakker did a quick promo talking about his title win and said he likes NXT because there is no off week.

Winner leaves with Elektra Lopez - Xyon Quinn vs Santos Escobar

Xyon rushed him with MMA punches early. Xyon bullied Santos around here and went outside. He and Lopez hugged then Lopez kicked him in the nuts. Santos then picked up the pin with the cradle shock soon after. Lopez turning on Xyon really didn't make that much sense and why would this match even happen if that was the end game?

Tony D'Angelo did a promo. He said he tried to be a nice guy and let Pete Dunne off with a broken hand. He said Pete is done tonight though and said Pete would learn that Tony D is in charge.

We saw Mandy Rose posing with the NXT Women's title at the pool.

David Kemp vs Cameron Grimes

Grimes was wrestled down early then he was caught off the buckles with a belly to belly. Malcolm Bivens came out to scout him. Grimes had a nice top rope crossbody and won with a cave-in M. Bison stomp. I'm not sure why they did this to Kemp since he isn't bad for his experience level.

Joe Gacy and Harland were excited about being in the Dusty Classic. Gacy said he wants everyone involved to have an equal chance of being in the cup. He said his opponents would be in a safe space tonight.

Joe Gacy and Harland vs Edris Enofe and Malik Blade

Gacy hit a spinning uranage early. Gacy had control over Enofe and Harland shoved his knee into the back of Blade's head against the bottom buckle. Harland started banging Blade's head off the top rope and  wouldn't stop and the ref DQ'd Harland in a lame finish.

We got an Imperium vignette with them beating up jobbers. They talked about how much better they were than Americans. They called Americans fat but of course ignored that Walter hasn't been in shape for most of his career.

Crowbar on a Pole Match - Tony D'Angelo vs Pete Dunne

Tony hit an awesome exploder here getting some major height. Dunne trapped Tony's head on the top rope then stomped it a bunch of times. Tony then brought him in over the top rope with a nice falcon arrow. We went to a long break and Tony hit a nice delayed german after. He then was the first to the get crowbar, though he didn't get to use it. They wrestled around it and Tony finally nailed him with it to win.

Grayson Waller was interviewed. He said he would create another Grayson Waller moment tonight against AJ Styles.

Mandy Rose did a another photoshoot and then it went into a Toxic Attraction vignette. They talked about everyone wants to be them or be with them.

Wendy Choo, Persia Pirotta and Indi Hartwell vs Amari Miller, Kayden Carter and Kacy Catanzaro

Wendy came to the ring with a pillow and in her pajamas. Amari did a nice tope and always did a header onto the floor. Kacy then did a nice tornillo over the top rope. Choo later was drinking something while on the apron from a straw. Choo did a handspring into a forearm then everyone got in and hit something. Indi ended up winning this soon after with a top rope elbow onto Miller's back in a quick one.

MSK ran into Dakota Kai in the back while staring down the Dusty Cup.

Solo Sikoa was taping up. Solo said he didn't care whether Boa or his alter ego showed up. The crowd yelled "U-SO" at him.

Kay Lee Ray showed up near the photoshoot area with a baseball bat. She started destroying everything and threw a stand through the backdrop. Then she did a homerun swing on the camera tripod which was cool.

Boa vs Solo Sikoa

Boa hit a nice spin kick early but Solo was pounding on him. Boa hit a bunch of shots to the gut here and a nice double underhook suplex. Solo's mouth got busted open and Boa's head was bleeding too. Solo came back with nice knees to the gut and a good forearm. Then they both took a hard fall over the top with a lariat. They both got counted out after fighting on the floor in another lame finish. Solo then chaired Boa in the back. This really wasn't bad despite being kind of short. I would have liked to have seen more.

AJ Styles was interviewed. AJ said Grayson has to step up to the plate and AJ said he would ride the momentum of the Georgia Bulldogs winning the college football championship to the Royal Rumble. He said it all starts with Waller.

Trick Williams and Carmelo Hayes arrived in the back and told the guard to watch their keys.

We went to commercial and came back to Boa and Solo brawling backstage. Boa got thrown over boxes then fireballed Solo. He then changed into his alter ego.

We were told that Von Wagner was suspended earlier but that the suspension was lifted and his fine was paid.

Trick and Carmelo talked in the ring. Hayes said he wanted to take a moment of silence for Roderick Strong's title reign that he stopped last week. He then said "rest in piss". He wore a hat that said "Unified Melo" on it and said his title was the "A" championship. Both were good on the mic here as usual.

Trick and Carmelo went to the back and Grimes had their keys. He gave them back but said he was coming for Carmelo's North American title.

The Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic starts next week.

AJ Styles vs Grayson Waller

Waller didn't have his gloves on here. AJ hit a nice dropkick and cleared ou Grayson. He tried to go over the top rope but GW tripped him on the apron and AJ did a great sell for a neckbreaker on the 2nd rope. GW then did an awwesome baseball slide outside into a lariat. We came back and AJ then did a nice plancha on Waller. Waller then came back with a great forearm.

AJ started working the leg with the calf crusher but took a sitout spinebuster for 2. Waller teased a styles crash then hit his inside the ring roll into a cutter. AJ hit a nice pele kick then brainbustered him, then won with a nice phenomenal forearm. The match had a little bit of a story with Waller being cocky against AJ. The action was good and flowed but I think they could have worked on the story a little more. I'd love to see these two go at it against as they matched well together.

AJ got on the mic after and said GW was good but not phenomenal. He then said he wanted to introduce him to a friend and LA Knight came out. Knight nailed him and hit him with a wild throw over the table. Knight then clotheslined him out of the ring.

Overall thoughts: The main was good but this show had a lot of bad finishes that hurt it.
