All Japan Pro Wrestling New Years Wars 2022 Day 1 1/2/2022

Jun Saito & Shuji Ishikawa vs. Rei Saito & Rising HAYATO

The Saito's are somehow twins yet look nothing alike anymore after being duplicates a few years ago. Rei in particular looks more like Tony D'Angelo's twin. It wasn't good and they threw some real sissy looking chops here.

Andy Wu, Black Menso~re, Masanobu Fuchi, Takao Omori & TAMURA vs. Baliyan Akki, Raimu Imai, Seigo Tachibana, Takayuki Ueki & Yoshitatsu

Seigo has an awesome purple suit. Akki botched his very first move here on a failed leapfrog. Ueki brought a gun into the ring and pointed it at Fuchi who slapped it away. Ueki then did some kind of corner rush and either purposely or unintentionally went over the top on a clothesline. Fuchi got his usual body slams and punches in and Omori got the win with a weak axe bomber. This was short.

CIMA, Super Crazy & TAJIRI vs. Izanagi, Musashi & SUGI

This was slow and not very good. Little happened until we got a dive train near the end which led to the finish. A total waste of these guys in what could have been a fun one with enough time.

NEXTREAM (Atsuki Aoyagi, Kento Miyahara & Yuma Aoyagi) vs. Hikaru Sato and Runaway SUPLEX (Shotaro Ashino & SUWAMA)

Atsuki did some nice flips early then took a combo enzugiri + lariat from Suwama. Ashino got great air on a Karelin's lift on him. Suwama hit some cool lariats where he yanked him up off the mat either and hit a real nice belly to belly on Astsuki. Yuma and Ashino traded germans then Yuma won out of nowhere with a spin kick to the face. This was short and a waste of time essentially. Suwama went after his opponents after and fought with Kento on the apron. Kento spiked him with a stiff piledriver on the apron.

Abdullah Kobayashi, Daisuke Sekimoto & Ryuji Ito vs. TOTAL ECLIPSE (Koji Doi & Kuma Arashi) and Ryuki Honda

We had some weapons shots early with Ito bringing in a cane. We had a tower of doom spot here with Abby helping with an Ito superplex on Kuma. Ito then hit a top rope frogsplash and Abby did a top rope elbow on Kuma for the win. The match was short and this stuff is not really Abby's and Ito's forte, leading to a match that wasn't very special. The BJW crew got jumped by Total Eclipse after.

All Asia Tag Team Championship Match: #STRONGHEARTS (El Lindaman & T-Hawk) (c) vs. TOTAL ECLIPSE (Hokuto Omori & Yusuke Kodama)

Following the other matches tonight, this was also too short. Really wish they would have cut something out and gave this more time. The finishing stretch was pretty short and started with Linda and Omori trading chest slaps. Linda did a nice flip dive to the floor and then got nailed with something like a Ki-Krusher to get pinned. As expected, the Linda vs Omori sections were good but this could have been a lot more.

Overall thoughts:
Not a great night of AJPW action. They had too many matches so everything got cut short and a lot of the finishes felt right out of nowhere. The show also had tons of tag matches which meant the people in it got even less than they should have.
