WWE Friday Night Smackdown 4/30/2021

Roman Reigns vs Daniel Bryan for the Universal Title is tonight. DB must leave SD if he loses.

Bianca Belair comes out to talk. Ziggler and Roode interrupt her. Then the Street Profits interrupt them. Before they get down to ringside, Bayley interrupts them and takes Bianca's mic away. She laughs at everyone and Bianca slaps her. Bayley then takes her down and all 6 brawl.

Bayley, Robert Roode and Dolph Ziggler vs The Street Profits and Bianca Belair

We go to break and return with this starting. Bianca and Bayley trade punches then Bayley stomps her foot. Bianca dropkicks her then kips up. Dolph and Bianca tease fighting but Dawkins comes in and blindsides Dolph, leading to a dropkick from Ford. The SP's then double dropkick Roode. Ford then flip dives onto Roode and Ziggler outside.

Bayley rams Bianca into the steps then Dolph superkicks Ford. Ford gets splashed by Dolph then takes a uranage from Roode. Bayley hits Ford while he is on the ropes. Dawkins gets the hot tag in and exploders Dolph, then spinning splashes Roode. He then does a double underhook twisting neckbreaker for 2.

Bianca picks up and drops Ziggler which was very close to being a DQ in my opinion. Roode grabs the tights of Dawkins and tries to pin him but gets whipped by the hair of Bianca. The ref saw it and didn't care then Ford hits a springboard frogsplash to win.

This was totally bogus with Bianca breaking the rules right in front of the ref's face and the ref didn't care. They also were clear to let the women get shots in on the guys but didn't let the guys nail the girls. I hate intergender wrestling and I hate the normalization of it.

Daniel Bryan is interviewed. He said he is excited to finally get a fair fight against Roman. He feels confident that he won't get the boot from SD. He also says he will give Cesaro the first chance at the title if he wins.

Seth Rollins weighs in on DB/Roman and says DB will win. He says Cesaro won't make it past next week and says it is a challenge.

Shayna, Nia and Reginald are interviewed. Shayna said she's not worried about Nattie's wins over them in singles competition as this is tag match tonight. Natalia and Tamina then jump Shayna and Nia.

Natalya and Tamina vs Nia Jax and Shayna Baszler

Nia runs into the buckles ot start with help from Tamina. Tamina top rope splashes Nia, but Nia gets her knees up. Nia holds up Tamina for a side slam and Shayna brogue knee's her.

Tamina tries to pick up Nia but she collapses under Nia. Natalya hits a spinning clothesline on Shayna for 2 then release german suplexes her. Nia running elbow drops Natalya for 2. Nia does a poor job of spearing a post then Reg interrupts Tamina as she climbs the top. Natalya goes after Reg but is thrown into the announcer's table. Tamina splashes Baszler off the top and wins it.

The finish was odd here as Tamina was up top forever yet still somehow hit the splash to win. It was clear Nia and Shayna were losing due to a lack of challengers otherwise.

Booker T says Roman will beat DB tonight. Nakamura says DB will win.

The Mysterio's are interviewed. Dom says fighting alongside his dad is like being in a comic book. Rey says him and Dom becoming the first father/son tag team champions would be legendary.

Aleister Black does a vignette. He said his dad taught him that living a life where you live in a 3 bedroom house with a white picket fence is the wrong way to live life. He said he can show us how to escape.

Big E gets interviewed. He says he will get his title back tonight. He compares it to a baby and says he will put his baby in a passenger's seat and they will go north.

Xavier Woods says Daniel Bryan will win. Kofi Kingston says Roman will win.

Intercontiental Title - Apollo Crews with Commander Azeez (c) vs Big E

E flips over Crews early and thrusts at him. E gets Crews on the apron and splashes him. Crews comes back then hits a suplex on the floor. We go to break and return with Crews in control. Crews comes off the 2nd rope with a double axe handle and gets a belly to belly. Crews then moonsaults on him on the outside from the apron.

E hits another belly to belly and splashes Crews for 2. Crews kicks E in the face for 2. Crews charges at E in the corner and gets a uranage. Crews and E fight on the apron then Crews death valley drivers E on the apron. Crews then frogsplashes E from the top but E comes right back with a Big Ending. Azeez pulls out Big E and throws him into the post for the DQ.

Kevin Owens runs down and nails Azeez. E comes to and helps him out. Sami Zayn the ncomes down and helluva kick's Owens in the corner. Zayn grabs Crew's belt after and gives it to him, then he raises Crews' and Azeez's hand, saying there is no problem. Azeez doesn't buy it though and hits him with the nigerian nail.

They didn't sell enough in the match and they were kind of rushing through it.

The Miz picks Roman to win tonight.

Cesaro accepts Seth's challenge for next week. He then says DB will win the title tonight and he will take the title from him at Backlash.

Paul Heyman is interviewed. He says he is sick of hearing about Daniel Brian. Paul mocks the yes chants saying all the fans think DB will win tonight. Heyman says NO though and says DB will not be on Smackdown again.

Corbin picks DB to win. Corbin is wearing a hat and a funny green hawaiian shirt, looking like a Wyatt Family member.

WWE Universal Title - If DB loses, he leaves Smackdown - Roman Reigns (c) with Paul Heyman vs Daniel Bryan

DB running dropkicks Roman to start and kicks at him. Roman escapes a yes lock then is dropkicked through the ropes and takes a running knee from the apron.

We go to break and return with DB in control. DB hits some running shots then gets nailed with a big lariat. Roman takes control for a while and DB runs and ducks under him only to get hit with a big back elbow.

DB tries to hurricanrana Roman from the top but DB takes a 2nd rope powerbomb instead. We go to another break and return with Roman pounding on DB outside. DB goes into the rails. They go back in and Roman gets crotched on the top. DB hits a back drop from the top. DB hits some kicks but Roman samoan drops him. Roman goes for the superman punch but gets kicked in the arm then DB kicks him in the arm again.

DB tries to tope Roman on the outside but gets a belly to belly on the floor. Roman tries to spear him into the barricade but DB moves and Roman goes through the barricade. We go to break and return with DB hitting a top rope headbutt for 2.

DB charges at Roman and gets a superman punch. Roman goes for a spear but is rolled up then DB running knee's him. DB does some reverse curbstomps and puts Roman in the yes lock. Roman gets out and spears him for 2. Roman then puts DB in a king crab hold but DB escapes.

DB armbars Roman and puts him in the yes lock. Roman pounds DB then deadlift powerbombs him hard. Roman pounds on DB again and hits another deadlift powerbomb. Roman then chokes out DB with the king crab hold. This was a really good match. DB worked the arm most of the match and tried to with it and Roman was really stiff with him in return. They really put in a lot of effort here and they just matched so well together. This was easily one of the better matches this year.

Roman goes for a conchairto but Cesaro makes the save. Jey Uso then comes down to fight Cesaro and superkicks him. Cesaro gets tied to the ropes then Roman hits DB with a conchairto as Cesaro is forced to watch.

Overall thoughts: The main was really worth seeing here and was one of the better matches of the year. E/Crews needed to be less rushed and like usual, the mixed wrestling match had issues.
