Impact Wrestling Rebellion 4/25/2021

We see Rich Swann arriving in the back and greeting people.

X-Division Title - Ace Austin (c) vs Josh Alexander vs TJP

TJP comes out with a broom without explanation. Ace does a nice headspring out of headscissors and Ace gets back body dropped over the top by 2 people. TJP inside to outside dropkicks Josh from the 2nd rope. Ace does a fosbury flop over the top onto both opponents outside.

Ace gets his ace card taken away then throws TJP hard into the post. Josh hits two germans then a straight jacket german for the 3rd. Ace does his springboard kick from the 2nd rope onto Josh then takes a big face kick from TJP. TJP gets double superplexed from the top. Ace sits on the apron then Josh crossbodies his back down to the floor. Josh takes a hard back body drop over the top then Ace gets sliced while he hangs from the top rope in the tree of woe. TJP does a big frogsplash for 2 but Josh puts him in the ankle lock. TJP reverses it and puts Josh in the ankle lock, then Josh grabs Ace to put him in the ankle lock. Josh keeps Ace in the ankle lock and TJP puts Josh in the octopus stretch while he does it. Ace does a double twisting blockbuster on both opponents.

TJP double facewashes both opponents and Fulton trips TJP. Ace dives onto Josh, who catches him and forward rolls him onto TJP. Josh then hits a jay driller on TJP for 2. Josh is sat up top and Ace tries to do his inverted hurricanrana, but the spot gets botched. Josh ankle locks TJP but takes the frogsplash from TJP. Fulton pulls out TJP on the pin attempt. Josh hits another jay driller and wins it over Ace.

This was an x-division 3 way. It was never going to be super smart and you really can't be in these matches. But, the action was non-stop and they definitely tried to do some cool stuff here. It was what I expected and I did enjoy it.  The good thing about three way matches is that you can overdo it a little and it's not noticeable because someone can always break a pinfall attempt.

Violent By Design does a promo. EY is talking to someone, but it isn't clear who. He says the mystery person can make an impact tonight.

Violent By Design vs James Storm, Chris Sabin, Eddie Edwards and Willie Mack

W. Morrissey is the mystery man for VbD, taking the injured EY's place. He's the former Big Cass.

Eddie gets beat up on early and overhead belly to belly suplexes Deaner. Deaner takes a hard hiptoss from Storm. Storm is sat on the top rope and is facekicked off by W. Deaner does some nice stomps on Storm in the corner.

Doering does a strong crossbody on Storm, then Doering and Rhyno go at it. Mack gets the hot tag in and clears off all of VBD off the apron, then does a nice corkscrew back elbow onto Deaner. Mack then hits a nice leg drop on Deaner and a sitout powerbomb/spinebuster move. Sabin dives on VBD outside and is caught, then Eddie dives onto all of them. Deaner is in tree of toe and gets double dropkicked. Eddie butterfly powerbombs Deaner. Deaner takes some other offense before a top rope elbow from Storm.

W comes back in and takes out all opponents. He tags himself in and is pulled over the top by Mack. Storm running cannonballs Rhyno off the apron and Mack has his dive blocked by W. Sabin suplexes Deaner off the top onto multiple people on the floor.

Doering gets a stunner from Mack but then W sneaks up behind Mack. Mack takes a big face kick and instead of pinning Mack, W swinging side slams him for the win, then pounds on him after.

This was a fine multi-man tag. I like VbD and I like the Impact Sekigun unit of Eddin, Sabin, Storm and Mack. It could have been longer and more epic, but it was good for what it was. W really should use a different name, but he was treated well here.

Matt Cardona vs Brian Myers

Not a fan of Matt's new road warrior chest protecotrs. It just doesn't fit the character. Not a fan of this feud either since they are well known friends. Brian flips him off early and takes some punches for it. Brian tries to suplex Matt on the floor but he turns it into a neckbreaker. Brian drops some elbows onto Matt.

Matt thumbs Brian in the eye then dropkicks him from the 2nd rope. Matt hits some clotheslines and face washes him through the ropes. Matt then hits radio silence on the ramp. They fight on the floor more and Brian spears him outside. Brian hits a hard top rope elbow. Brian misses a corner charge and is hit with an unprettier for 2.

Matt goes for radio silence again and his leg buckles. The ref throws up the "X". Brian helps up Matt then lariats him twice and wins it. I don't really get what this was about at all and it just didn't help a storyline that wasn't really believeable in the first place.

Tony Khan Tony Schiavone, Aubrey Edwards and Jerry Lynn are interviewed by Gia. Scott D'Amore comes in. He said he is happy to have them here, even Schiavone and says they have the reffing thing under control. Khan doesn't like Hebner being the ref as he might screw Omega. Scott then agrees to having two refs.

Knockout Tag Team Championship - Fire n Flava vs Jordynne Grace and Rachael Ellering

Jazz comes out with Grace and Ellering but gets her own entrance. Rachel has a noticeable gut. Hogan tries to headlock her but is just carried arounbd. Grace holds Hogan up for a side slam and Rachael kicks Hogan in the head before she is thrown door. Grace then throws Hogan into the buckles hard twice.

Hogan hits a nice high kick on Grace then Grace takes double superkicks and a double suplex. Hogan baseball slides Grace for 2. FnF try to hold Grace for a kick, but Hogan nails her own partner then spinebusters Hogan hard.

Ellering makes Hogan DDT Steelz then Ellering does a twisting legdrop from the buckles. Grace puts Hogan on Ellering's knees, then she sentons her. FnF hit double dropkicks from the top on both opponents for 2. FnF tries to double suplex Grace but both get suplexed by her instead. Steelz gets back body dropped over the top and botches something and lands hard on the apron edge. Grace then topes Steelz outside.

Hogan goes up top and crossbodies both opponents outside. Hogan gets lifted for a suplex but then Rachael drops her back for a sit out bomb. They tried to do some things here but its the women and there was the usual slop. Ellering really isn't that good but she had to win here.

Last Man Standing - Sami Callihan vs Trey Miguel

Sami slams Trey from the inside of the ring to the floor to start. Sami then slams him again on the floor. Trey's good in no time though and slice bread #2's him off the post on the floor. Trey hooks himself through the ropes and hurricanrana's Sami from it. Trey tries to tope him but Sami moves and he dives into the rail. Sami then throws Trey over the rails. Sami tries to run a box into Trey, but her moves.

Trey then gets pop-up powerbombed onto the box. Sami gets a chaint and hits Trey with it, but they cutaway when he does. Sami sticks a wrench into Trey's mouth. Sami throws chairs into the ring and throws one at Trey's head. Sami then throws a table in there too.

Back in and Trey lightning spirals him on the chairs. A table is put upside down and Trey gets slammed on the legs of the table. Sami throws chairs at his head twice then piledrivers him through a table off the 2nd rope. The table barely dents.

They turn stairs on their side outside and fight on them. Sami then piledrives him onto the apron very lightly. Try gets back up then runs the apron with Sami and cutters him through a table. Sami can't make the count and Trey wins.

Not a fan of this one at all. They just did tons of big spots throughout and half of them looked dangerous while looking like crap. There was just little logic to this and little selling.

Rich Swann is interviewed. He confirms this is the biggest match in his career and industry. He said this never happens and said Callis did get in his head a little. He says no mind game will stop him from proving he is the best. Swann says this is his house and he's not going to let Impact down.

Impact Tag Titles - FinnJuice (c) vs The Good Brothers

Juice gets the edge early on Karl. Karl gets held down by Juice for a Finlay diving euro uppercut. Doc goes for the double chokeslam but gets caught and takes a double bulldog instead. Finlay gets thrown out by Karl then hit by Doc on the outside. Doc hits a headbutt on Finlay then high kicks him.

Finlay gets beat up for a little by Doc then comes off the 2nd rope with a euro uppercut. Juice gets the hog tag in and attacks both opponents. Juice hits some punches and a bad leg lariat. Juice cannonballs Karl in the corner for 2.

FinnJuice holds up Karl for the russian leg sweep then he takes a flying kick while in it. Karl takes the demolition elbow from the 2nd rope for 2, then Doc is clotheslined over the top. Finlay gets pushed off the 2nd rope to the floor then Karl neckbreakers Juice. The Brothers hit a reverse #D for 2 on Juice. Finn saves Juice from the magic killer and Juice rolls up Doc for the win. This wasn't anything too special but I really didn't expect the FinnJuice win here. I'm rarely ever impressed with the Brothers' in-ring work and this was no exception, but it wasn't bad.

Gia Miller is outside of Kenny Omega's locker room. Don comes out and says Kenny isn't available. He said we are living history and Kenny is going home with all the belts. He said he raised Kenny Omega and said no one in the back cares about Kenny. He calls Rich Swann an orphan on the other hand and said they are going home with both titles tonight.

Impact Women's Title - Deonna Purrazzo (c) vs Tenille Dashwood

They start off fast here reversing each others moves. DP puts her in the gory special. Deonna straightjacket chokes her. Tenille comes back with some forearms and a big clothesline. Tenille puts DP in the tarantula in the ropes then crossbodies her from the top.

DP hits her with two nice german suplexes and Tenille fights back with back elbows. Tenille then double underhook suplexes her into the buckles. Tenille then splashes her against the bottom rope. Tenille curb stomps her then puts her in the muta lock. Kimber and Susan get on the apron while she has her tied up and then Kaleb gets involved.

DP uses this distraction to pump kick Tenille. She goes up to the top and misses a headbutt then Tenille does like a low pump kick to a downed DP. Tenille gets distracted by DP's group, then DP hits a rolling exploder. DP comes back with a fujiwara armbar, then does a neutralizer soon after for the win.

Tenille's offense was pretty good here and I didn't see any real story here.

Tenille gets beat up after by Kimber Lee and Susan until Taylor Wilde comes out. Taylor handles both Susan and Kimber and they exit with Deonna.Deonna tries to pose on the apron in front of Wilde but gets ran off.

Impact Wrestling Title vs AEW Title - Rich Swann vs Kenny Omega

Omega slaps Swann in the back of the head early and pulls his hair. Omega then slaps him again and runs to the ropes. Omega tries a reverse monkey flip and Swann just 450's over him. He then dropkicks Omega through the ropes. Swann hits a phoenix splash off the 2nd rope to the outside. Swann takes control and tries a rolling thunder but Omega gets his knees up.

Swann is dropped across the apron from the floor. Omega is in front of the ropes on the outside and Swann tries to do a handspring from the floor to the ropes. It gets messed up and he is just spiked on his head on the apron.

Back in and Swann takes a buckle bomb then is neckbreakered over the knee. Omega then backbreakers him over the knee. Omega works the back more and Swann tries to come back. Omega goes for a leg drop over the back of Swann, but he handstands out. Swann hulks up a little and hits some chops then takes some forearms back. Swann then hits a tilt-a-whirl headscissors. Omega gets sat on the top rope and Swann jumps up to hurricanrana him from there.

Omega comes back an they fight up top. Swann is supposed to reverse a top rope powerbomb but ends up landing on his head/shoulder then Swann frog splashes him for 2. Swann tries a high kick but is push kicked into the buckles hard then Omega hits a doctor bomb for 2.

Omega hits a high spin kick to the head then v-triggers him in the corner. They botch some kind of electric chair escape from the 2nd rope. Swann takes a snap dragon suplex and Omega his usual weird bit where he talks to inivisble people in the audience. Swann takes another snap dragon suplex and comes back with a cutter.

Swann tries his handspring into a cutter and ends up hitting a cutter on the ref. Swann gets clotheslined. Omega grabs a chair but AEW ref Aubrey Edwards takes it away. Omega and Callis argue with her then Swann hits his handspring cutter. Swann then hits a michinoku driver for 2.

Swann catches another v-trigger then Omega hits an electric chair into a german. He then hits a jay driller for 2. Swann takes another v-trigger. Swann misses a phoenix splash then takes another v-trigger and Omega wins it with the one winged angel.

This was the usual Kenny Omega match with some extra botches in-between. Kenny works a body part, forgets all about it, then they do too much and forget to sell in between a thousand v-triggers.

Overall thoughts: This was a little long at almost 3 hours. I didn't like about half the matches here but I did like the VBD 8-Man tag and I did mostly like the X-Division three way.
