TNA Slammiversary 2025 7/20/2025
We are in Long Island, NY.
Mustafa Ali vs Cedric Alexander
Ced armdrags him early then is armdragged. Ced wristlocks him. They each escape wristlocks and then armdrag each other. Ced knocks him over and they stand off. They trade chops. Ali shoulders him over then rolls him up for 2. Ced spin kicks him in the gut then germans him on the floor. Ced then does it again. Ali missed a tope early and went head first into the floor. Ali then was sent face first into middle buckle. Ced then slams Ali off the 2nd buckle onto his security outside. Ali spinning heel kicks him then satellite ddt's him. Ali misses a standing corkscrew moonsault. Ced then suplexes him into the buckles for 2.
Ali sharpshooters him then chokes him with the ring skirt. Ced boots him outside then Ali superkicks him outside. Ali is then back body dropped onto the bottom half of the stairs. Tasha Steelz argues with the ref, causing a distraction. Ced chases Ali around then gets caught with a ddt from Jason Hotch. Ali of course only gets a 2 count off of that.
Ali rolls and Ced cutters him. Ced germans him twice. Ali is belly to belly suplexed into the buckles. Hotch and Skyler get involved and Ced thwarts them. Ali ends up hitting a 450 on Ced for 2. Ced is pulled into the 2nd buckle. Tasha Steelz throws a chair in and comes with it. Ced stops her and argues with her. Tasha misses a punch and gets lumbar checked. Ali then top rope 450's Ced and wins.
Thoughts: I hated it. Ali took two awful looking bumps here with the back body drop on the steps and the tope into the floor. Ced also took a bridging ddt on the floor. None of it meant anything and it was just indy crap. The ref also saw Ali's buddies get involved many times and didn't once try to DQ him or eject any of them.
Gia Miller interviews Joe Hendry, who is working out in the back. Joe says TNA is in New York and he says the entire world is watching. He said he respects Santana and hates Trick, but says the whole world is behind himself.
Darkstate (Dion Lennox, Osiris Griffin, Saquon Shugars, and Cutler James) vs. Matt Cardona and The System (Brian Myers, Eddie Edwards, and JDC)
Darkstate jump in to start and the match starts. Eddie topes Cutler. Brian top rope elbow drops everyone off the top onto the outside. JDC does Sabu's pose, Alisha does Fonzie's whistle and JDC tope con hilos off a chair onto the outside. Matt is thrown into the apron side and Brian is thrown into the post. Brian backdrops Shugars.

Matt takes a triple team powerbomb for 2. Shugars and Brian fight up top. Shugars is double powerbombed down. Brian htis a top rope elbow drop and JDC hits a top rope legdrop for 2. All 8 fight in the ring. JDC is sent into the post. Brian superkicks Dion. Griffin crossbodies Brian. Matt hits radio silence on Shugars. Eddie shining wizards Shugars and wins.
Thoughts: It was a bit rushed and they didn't get enough time for how many people were involved. I also didn't love The System acting like faces since they never are otherwise. I'm also not sure if they pushed the issues The System had with Cardona as well as they could have. I liked what we got, but I wish we got more of it because there was a lot of story to explore here.
TNA Injury Report
Trey Miguel is out with a hernia. KC Navarro is cleared. Elijah is still out after recovering from triceps surgery.

Indi spinebusters her for 2. Tess side headlock takeovers her into a headscissors. Tess hits a big forearm and messes up a spot leading to a tiger driver for 2. They go on the buckles. Tess hits a 2nd rope cutter. Tess hits a top rope diving codebreaker for 2. Tess running boots her then she slaps her. Tess says it's personal. Indi full nelson drops her into the ropes then full nelson twisting drops her on the mat to win.
Thoughts: It was really bad. Indi had so many botches and sloppy moments here and just couldn't help bring Tessa down with her. It looked like a 2000's divas match and it went too long.
Gia interviews Indi after. She is asked what's next. Indi says she just beat a former world champ and wants the title. Tessa then jumps her and pounds on her. Gia grabs Tess to try and stop it and is slapped. Tess pounds Gia's head against the steps. Indi stops Tess. Crawford grabs Indi and security stops Tess. Gia is then helped up and Gia is crying.

Jacy pulls the hair and is pushed. MS forearms her then Jacy armdrags her off of her shoulders. Jacy flying headscissors her and running back elbows her. Jacy is tripped into the ropes for a head kick. MS running lariats her. MS 2nd rope twisting sentons onto Jacy and Fallon.

Thoughts: I was hoping Masha would win but that not the case here. This is ultimately the problem with these interpromotional arrangements - the more powerful partner gets their way. The match didn't get enough time to be an epic and felt a bit rushed. This should have gotten double the time it did given the stakes. The match was okay enough mostly due to the double titles being on the line but it wasn't what I had hoped for.
Eric Young and The Northern Armory talk in the back. Eric yells at his crew for losing earlier. Eric says he's a 2x champ and The Home Town Man beat him. He said they have 1 job and he can't lose. He grabs Travis by the throat. He says things will change and they will either get on board or get lost.
They announce that 7,623 are in attendance, which is their highest North American attendance.
TNA X-Division Title - Moose (c) vs Leon Slater
Leon comes out with a ufo on the tron and Moose comes out on a throne with new music I think. Leon also has purple and white paint on one side of his body (they say it's a tribute to Jeff Hardy).
Moose backs him up in the corner and takes leg kicks. Leon chops and punches him. Moose pulls him off the 2nd rope with a sky high for 2. Moose is pulled over the top and Leon jumps out. Leon running boots him then superkicks him. Leon hits another superkick. Leon springboards and Moose spears him in mid-air. Leon runs at him outside and takes a code red on the floor. Leon goes up top and Moose rolls away. Leon then swantons him off the top. Leon hits the swanton 450 and wins.
Thoughts: Leon won as expected here. It was a good match with Leon bringing the flying and being the underdog. I would have liked Moose to bully around and throw Leon a bit more but I liked what we got. Leon was always going to win here as he could become the youngest champ ever by winning and there was only so much time to make that happen.
Carlos Silva goes to give Leon the belt. Moose takes it then puts the belt around Leon.
AJ Styles comes out while Leon Slater is celebrating. AJ makes his return to TNA after a long time. AJ asks if we missed him. AJ says it's been a long road and says he made his name here. He said he was told he may not be able to come back at one point but he says here he is. He says the crowd is bigger, the lights are brighter and the talent is better than it has ever been.
The crowd chants "you deserve it" at Leon and AJ says he didn't deserve it, he earned it. He says Leon made him realize why he loves this business. The crowd chants for "one more match". AJ said Leon showed everyone that it's not about weight limits, it's about no limits. AJ says it was him Daniels, Lynn, Homicide and others when he started. He said they were the foundation and Leon is the future. He says the X-Division is in phenomenal hands.
AJ said he made history and now he needs to make his legacy. AJ then introduces Leon as the new champ.
TNA Tag Titles - Ladder Match - The Nemeths (Nic Nemeth and Ryan Nemeth) (c) vs. The Hardys (Jeff Hardy and Matt Hardy) vs. The Rascalz (Myron Reed and Zachary Wentz) vs. Fir$t Cla$$ (A. J. Francis and KC Navarro)
First Class come out with a rapper and a whole entourage of people. First Class then toast champagne with all of them. They were the only ones to get a special entrance here.
The Nemeth's come down with ladders and get hit by The Hardy's as soon as they enter. Nic and Ryan are clotheslined with a ladder then AJ is as well. The Rascalz then get it. Nic is suplexed on a bridged ladder.
The Hardy's climb the ladder together and are pushed off into the ropes by First Class. Reed legdrops KC over the middle rope. Reed comes off the top and AJ pushes a ladder into him. Reed is thrown into the ladder in the corner. KC then running euros him there and AJ corner splashes Reed there.
AJ picks up reed and a ladder and hits the others with it then world's strongest slams Reed on the ladder. KC gets on AJ's shoulders to grab the belt but Zach top rope dropkicks them both down. Reed kips down out of a lariat and hits an enzugiri on AJ. Reed slingshot codebreakers AJ. The Rascalz get up top and drop a ladder down on AJ.
Reed jumps over the top and hits his cutter on the floor on Ryan (that spot is still stupid). AJ is buried under a ladder, Zach climbs it then jumps onto KC, who is on a bridged ladder outside. AJ climbs the ladder and is hit by a chair from Matt. Matt hits a twist of fate on AJ. Jeff top rope swantons AJ.
The Hardy's are pushed off the ladder but avoid the ropes. Ryan neckbreakers Jeff. Nic hits a danger zone on Matt. Ryan yells at Johnny Damon, who is a baseball player and is in the front row. Damon pushes him. The Nemeth's climb the ladder. The Rascalz follows them up the ladder. KC tips all of them over into the ropes.
KC chairs The Nemeth's and The Rascalz. AJ climbs a ladder then he moonsaults off of it onto his opponents. First Class climb a ladder together then are thrown off the top through ladders that are bridged outside. Zach's head is banged off the buckles. Reed takes a twist of fate into a cutter. Matt side effect's Zach.
Zach is bridged on a ladder outside along with Reed. Jeff top rope swantons them and the ladders don't budge. Jeff then swantons off the top through them on ladders again. Jeff grabs a controller and a rope ladder shoots down from the ceiling. Jeff climbs the rope ladder and The Nemeth's try to stop him. The Nemeth's double team Jeff. Matt chairs Ryan. Nic superkicks Matt. Matt chairs Nic in the gut.
The Nemeth's have chairs on their necks and take stereo twists of fate. Jeff then climbs the rope ladder and grabs the belts to win.
Thoughts: It was a fun and wild ladder match. AJ was the MVP here taking a huge bump to the outside and doing an impressive moonsault. The rope ladder spot was neat and everyone took a whooping here. It was your usual ladder match with all kinds of big spots and The Hardy's won as expected here.
Bubba Ray Dudley/Bully Ray comes out after. He gets on the mic. He congratulates them on another tag title. He says they are catching up. Bubba says it was another amazing match and says they are one of the reasons why tonight is an attendance record for TNA. He says it's a record they set in 2013. Bubba says 25 years ago, The Hardy's and The Dudley's made history in New York in a tag team tables match at The Royal Rumble.
He says there's always talk about who is the greatest tag team of all time. Bubba says it's The Road Warriors. Bubba says this is about giving the fans the last great tag match of all time. He says it's about something that can't happen again. Bubba says at Bound for Glory in October, he wants The Hardy's vs Team 3D in one last match. The crowd chants "Thank you, D'Von". Bubba says we will hear one last time, "D'Von, get the tables".
Thoughts: D'Von hasn't been doing well health wise and has been retired, so I'm a little skeptical on how good of an idea this is. Hopefully everyone makes it through okay...
Santino Marella comes out to talk. He says Tessa Blanchard is suspended indefinitely for attacking Gia Miller. Santino asks the pre-show panel for predictions. Frankie Kazarian comes out. He says he doesn't respect Tommy Dreamer and doesn't care about his prediction. He says no one has done more for the company than him. He says he's the uncrowned champ and should be in the main tonight. He says he will do commentary.
TNA World Title - Trick Williams (c) vs Joe Hendry vs Mike Santana
Mike Santana came out some backroom and had some rapper rapping for him. Mike then came out through the crowd like usual. Trick Williams had the Harlem Gospel Ensemble chanting "Whoop That Trick" for his entrance. I don't think it was supposed to be comical, but it was. Frankie Kazarian is on commentary for this.
Trick talks trash to both guys then they hit him. Trick takes a double flapjack then is thrown out. Joe fireman carry takeovers Mike. Joe rolls through a wristlock then side headlock takeovers him. Mike then does the same. Joe headscissors him and they stand off.
Mike and Joe shoulder battle and Mike is knocked over. Mike armdrags Joe then is hiptossed. Joe ducks a spinning lariat and they stand off. Trick then double lariats both. Trick hits punches on Joe and then Mike. Joe is pump kicked by trick. Trick is sent into Joe and Mike is back body dropped over the top. Trick uranages Joe for 2.
Trick hits mounted forearms. Trick hits an AA on Joe for 2. Joe hits chops on Trick. Trick guillotines him. Joe suplexes him. Mike germans Joe. Mike hits chops on Trick. Mike flying lariats Trick then corner chops him. Mike enzugiri's Trick. Trick leg lariats Mike.
Trick flapjacks Mike for 2. Trick chinlocks him. Mike headbutts Trick off the buckles. Trick uppercuts Mike on the buckles. Trick then takes a blockbuster + powerbomb combo. The three trade shots on their knees. Mike pump kicks Trick then Trick spinning facekicks him.
Trick flips out of Joe's chokeslam. Joe hits a reverse AA on Trick then hits a standing ovation. Frankie Kazarian pulls the ref out on the pin attempt. Kaz is then ejected by the ref. Mike tope con hilos Trick outside. Joe then jumps over the top onto both of them. The camera's mostly missed both dives. Mike goes to throw Trick in but Trick can't get in and they call for medical. Joe goes up and over Mike. Mike backrolls into a cutter. Mike hits doi fives on Joe. Mike corner cannonballs Joe for 2.
Trick has to be helped up by the refs and doesn't look good. Joe pop-up powerbombs Mike then AA's him. Joe hits a standing ovation on Mike for 2. Mike and Joe trade shots. Mike spinning lariats him. Mike hits another spinning lariat then Trick comes back in. Trick throws Mike out and pins Joe to win.
Thoughts: I didn't see that ending coming as I was sure Mike was finally getting crowned champ here. The match wasn't that great and didn't have a great ending either. It didn't get much time and there were no big spots here or really anything to make this special. It was basically a TNA TV level match (and those are weaker than WWE TV matches) and not really suitable enough for the biggest show of the year. TNA losing two big title matches on their biggest show of the year isn't a good look no matter how you spin it. I have no idea where this goes from here and this has to be the end of Joe Hendry getting title shots for a while as he has no claim at this point after all of these losses.
Overall thoughts: It was a good effort by TNA. We had title for title matches, an appearance by AJ Styles, a ladder match and some WWE vs TNA matches. It was a good show overall and it had a nice variety of various things. There were a lot of matches that didn't get enough time though and production had issues all night long. I didn't like the opener. The System tag needed more time but I did like what we got. Tessa/Indi was a disaster with Indi botching everything. The Knockouts Title match didn't get enough time but was okay. I don't love NXT holding two TNA Titles right now and I credit it to WWE being the more senior partner and taking advantage of the relationship. Moose/Leon was good as expected then AJ Styles returned after. The ladder match was the usual wild bout and they announced Team 3D vs The Hardy's after. The main was short, wasn't particularly great and Trick winning was not the right call here. But as I said at Against All Odds 2025, making the top faces look bad is a TNA staple going back 20+ years. I have absolutely no idea where they are going with anything moving forward other than The Hardy's vs Team 3D and Indi vs Jacy. I'd give the show a 7 out of 10 overall, but it could have been even better.
