Ring of Honor YouTube Special Episode #4 12/30/2025

The last show is here: https://prowresblog.blogspot.com/2026/01/ring-of-honor-on-honor-club-12262025.html

The next show is here: https://prowresblog.blogspot.com/2026/01/ring-of-honor-on-honorclub-112026.html

We are still in NYC. Caprice Coleman and Ian Riccaboni are on commentary.

Death Riders (Daniel Garcia & Wheeler Yuta) vs Alec Price & Jordan Oliver

Mox is with the heels. Yuta and AP shake hands. Yuta back elbows him and hits punches. AP takes a double back elbow. DG chops him in the corner. AP goes up and over then flying headscissors him. DG takes a double team ending in a fameasser and a low dropkick. JO springboard lariats Yuta on the apron. AP then suicide dives outside.

DG takes a double flying knee in the corner. AP is pushed off the top by DG. DG kicks JO in the knee from behind. AP's head is banged off the buckles. Yuta basement dropkicks JO. Yuta ties up AP's legs and bridges. JO suplexes DG. Yuta throws AP into the steps outside.

JO takes running corner attacks. JO is held in the air for a 2nd rope forearm. DG crabs JO. JO ropebreaks. AP is tagged in and he faces a 1v2. AP hits shots on the heels. AP takes a double pop up drop and is double pounded on. AP takes a flying knee + STO. AP is pinned.

Thoughts: It was fine. Price looked good just as he did last time. He moves well and happily takes reckless bumps. I don't know if AEW needs Oliver and Price but they are a breath of fresh air and are doing well with what they are given. TNA should be looking into Price though.

Mark Davis vs. Matt Mako

They shake hands. Mark misses a chop and takes leg kicks. Mark misses a senton and is kicked in the arm. Mark slams him then sentons him. Mark hits mounted punches and chinlocks him. Mark germans him then shotgun dropkicks him in the corner. Mark suplex throws him.

Matt hits shots to the gut. Mark hits a straight punch. Mark goes for a running lariat and Matt rolling armbars him. Matt hits some kicks. Matt spinning heel kicks him then hits kicks to the arm. Mark flatliners him into the 2nd rope and sliding D's him in the corner. Matt then does a surprise armbar. Mark slepeers him.

Mark lariats him from behind then running lariats him. Mark then pins him.

Thoughts:
It was a shorter but decent bout. The little Matt got in looked good and he had some nice surprises here. Mark stiffed him.

Big Bill & Bryan Keith vs. The Dark Order (Alex Reynolds & John Silver)

BK kicks away John's handshake. BK boots him in the gut and side headlocks him. John dropkicks him. BK is double tripped into a double basement dropkick. Alex armdrags BK then flying headscissors him. Alex dropkicks him and headflips up.

Alex back elbows BK. BK headbutts him off the top after Bill distracts him. Bill shoulders Alex over. Bill clubs on Alex outside. Bill corner splashes Alex then back body drops him. BK trades shots with Alex then lariats him.

Alex back body drops him. John comes in and lariats BK. BK nails Bill on accident. John pump kicks BK then topes Bill outside. John hits kicks on BK then suplexes him for 2. John tries to rack Bill. John hits a bad pump kick to the back of the head and racks Bill. Bill facekicks his opponents and BK pins John.

Thoughts: I was disappointed by this. It should have been a decent bout but they couldn't really get a flow going and they just didn't click that well. John hits his foot on a tope here.

Satnam Singh vs Charles Mason

I'm shocked Singh is even employed. They shake hands and SS squeezes his hand. CM gets on his back. SS gorilla press throws him. SS chops CM in the corner. SS throws him. CM chops him, SS runs the ropes and crossbodies him. SS pulls up from the pin attempt. SS hits a big chokeslam and pins him with a foot on the chest.

Thoughts
: It was a short squash and went as you would think. It wasn't anything too special and Mason certainly took his bumps here.

We see an Ace Austin interview from World's End. Ace says he's been thinking a lot about his position here. He says he came directly for the best and saw Bandido is on a hot streak. He says he wants to throw his name in the hat for an ROH Title match. Rocky Romero comes in. He complains about Ace coming in recently and calling people out. He says he say Ace's buddies lose to FTR and says they won't be in any title situation anytime soon. Ace says if he needs reps to prove he can challenge for the title, they should have a match. RR agrees. Ace says he can call him and throws a playing card at him.

Rocky Romero vs. Ace Austin

They lock up and trade holds. RR backrolls and shimmies. RR back elbows him. Ace backrolls and armdrags him. Ace then dropkicks him. Ace goes out and RR flying knees Ace off the apron. Ace handstands on the apron and kicks him from it. Ace tries a helicopter kick inside but RR kneebreakers him. RR basement dropkicks him. RR then poses.

RR chops him. RR back elbows him. RR hits corner lariats then Ace lariats him down. Ace russian legsweeps him and legdrops him. Ace hits corner lariats. RR is on the top rope and Ace reverse headscissors him down. RR rewind kicks him.

Ace is supposed to be flipped to the apron but slips. Ace slingshot sunset flips him. They trade pin attempts. RR pushes Ace into the ref. He double throat thrusts him and shiranui's him for 2. Ace suplexes him. Ace helicopter kicks him then hits the fold. Ace wins.

Thoughts
: It wasn't as good as it should have been. Ace seems to have injured himself during this. They really should have worked better together than they did. I think it got more time than it needed as well.

ROH Women's World Television Title Proving Ground Match - Red Velvet vs. Janai Kai

JK kicks away a handshake to start. Red snapmres her and is put in a hammerlock. JK takes her down by the arm twice. JK stomps her then Red hits shots to the gut in the corner. Red foot chokes her in the corner. Red comes off the top and is superkicked in the gut. JK foot chokes her.

JK armbars her. JK hits strikes in the corner and slams her. Red cradles her for 2. JK kicks her in the gut. JK stomps Red's back. JK sits on her back and does a dragon sleeper with a hammerlock. Red breaks it with a stunner. Red hits shots to the gut. Red ddt's her.

Red japanese armdrags her then meteora's her from behind on the ropes. JK running facekicks her then single leg dropkicks her against the ropes from behind. JK kicks her in the face then kicks her in the back. Red hits a big slap and pins her.

Thoughts:
It was a different type of match here. Kai has very unorthodox strike based offense and probably got more in here than Red did. It wasn't that great but it had some moments of interest.

Overall thoughts: It was a mixed bag. The first two matches were decent. Big Bill's and Ace Austin's matches were not as good as they should have been. The main had the unorthodox Janai Kai fighting Red Velvet and that was a different type of match. There was virtually no storyline developments here and none of the champs were around as usual. I wouldn't recommend this one and would only give it a 5 out of 10 as I thought it was so-so.

Ring of Honor on Honor Club 12/26/2025 Boxing Day Brawl 2025

Ring of Honor on Honor Club 12/26/2025 Boxing Day Brawl 2025

Last week's show is here: https://prowresblog.blogspot.com/2025/12/ring-of-honor-on-honorclub-12182025.html

The next show is here: https://prowresblog.blogspot.com/2026/01/ring-of-honor-youtube-special-episode-4.html

We are in NYC. Caprice Coleman and Ian Riccaboni are on commentary.

The Grizzled Young Vets come out for their match. Zack does his usual lines. He said he heard how great NYC was growing up. He says it's a 3rd world country where the streets are country and the people are scumbags. Zack says Eddie Kingston is the epitome of NYC. He says he has shown them disrespect. Eddie Kingston then comes out and hits both Vets with a chair.

Eddie Kingston vs James Drake

JD step up enzugiri's him then stomps on him in the corner. The match then officially begins. JD pounds on Eddie and hits corner spears. JD hits euros and short arm lariats him. JD eye rakes him. Eddie chops him down and is thrown hard into the buckles. JD chokes him with his knee.

Eddie pulls his straps down and hits chops. JD rakes his eyes. JD misses a step up enzugiri. Eddie does the stretch plum. Gibson gets on the apron and distracts Eddie. JD hits a dropkick off the 2nd rope.

JD hits forearms and Eddie lariats him. Eddie hits a corner splash then hits chops. Eddie neckbreakers him. JD running corner dropkicks him for 2. JD hits mounted forearms. JD is caught off the buckles and takes an exploder. Eddie ddt's and wins.

Thoughts: Eddie winning with a ddt was a bit weak. It was an okay match otherwise with Eddie winning as expected. The match should have never began though since Eddie chaired Drake before it started.

Gibson jumps Eddie after. Eddie gets the edge, is hit with a low blow, then is choked with a towel. Drake then springboard flying knees him while he is held.

Santa Claus is in the ring with two jobbers. The Premier Athletes interrupt. Sterling says they gave Santa ozempic and he has shaved 170lbs. He says the fans would never be able to do this. He says Santa knows if they've been bad or good and where they sleep. He says he knows that Athletes____ and Santa says, "suck". Santa gets chokeslammed and thrown out.

The Premier Athletes (Ariya Daivari, Stori Denali & Tony Nese) vs Ashley Vox, Jon Cruz & VSK

Nese poses and says he knows NYC came to see it. Nese knees VSK in the gut. VSK goes up and over then poses. VSK sunset flips him and is spine kicked in the face. VSK takes double punches in the corner.

Jon htis punches on Ari then takes a neckbreaker. Stori knocks down Jon and throws him in the corner. Vox comes in. She hits forearms on Stori. Stori suplex throws her. Jon interrupts and pushes Vox away. Jon is tripped by Ari after sizing up Stori. Nese and VSK trade shots. Nese pulls his throat over the top and plancha's outside at the same time. Stori facekicks Vox over then chokeslams her for the win.

Thoughts: I'm not a fan of intergender stuff and I'm curious if Cruz could actually beat Stori in a fight or not. The Athletes won as expected. Them chokeslamming Santa was something though.

Komander and Alex are interviewed. Kom talks in Spanish. Alex says Kom is one of the best flyers and one of the most technically gifted. He says Lee Moriarty will find out he was meant to be a champion.

Mina Shirakawa vs Rebecca Scott

Mina side headlocks her, ducks a lariat and shimmies. RS kicks her in the back. Mina kicks her in the back. Rs is dropped onto her knees. Mina figure fours her and is cradled. Mina slingblades her. Mina top rope diving slingblades her for 2. Mina hits leg kicks. RS back elbows her.

Mina spinning forearms her twice and head kicks her from behind. Mina spinning back elbows her and submits her with the figure four.

Thoughts: It was all squash as expected here. It wasn't anything special. Scott's decent looking and should probably get more bookings here.

Jay Lethal and Bandido are interviewed. Jay says they have The Swirl in common as enemies. Jay says they have been a thorn in their side for weeks. Jay says they should team up next week against The Swirl. Band says of course.

The Swirl (Blake Christian & Lee Johnson) vs Alec Price & Jordan Oliver

BC gives Alec the finger on a handshake attempt. BC shoulders him over then they trade roll ups. Blake dropkicks him and kips up on it. Alec pulls BC over the top. Lee takes a shot to the gut > scissors kick > low dropkick. JO hits chops on Lee. He misses a corner splash. BC hits JO then springboard lariats him. BC spears Alec on the apron. JO is held for a dropkick. Lee tope con hilos Alec outside.

BC knee drops JO and boots him. BC chinlocks him. BC jumps into the air and JO jumps into a side slam on him. Alec high kicks his opponents from the apron and top rope M. Bison stomps Lee. Alec is popped up and dropkicks BC off of it. Alec walks up the buckles and flying forearms Lee.

Lee lariats Alec. JO facekicks Lee. BC handspring corkscrew kicks JO. Alec rebound lariats BC. Alec suicide dives and tags out as he does it. BC takes an assisted 2nd rope bulldog for 2.

Lee superkicks Alec off the apron and BC corkscrew dives him between the ropes. JO takes a suplex and a BC springboard 450. JO takes a silly handspring kick into a brainbuster and is pinned.

Thoughts
: It was a very fast paced match with a lot of flying. The selling wasn't the best but I still liked it as it was fully of action and some interesting moves.

Zack Gibson vs. Bryce Donovan

Zack does his usual intro and rips the crowd for hijacking the show. Zack says you will put respect on the name GYV and learn they are the real deal. Zack says you will grit your teeth when you see them coming.

Zack waistlock takedowns him. Zack snapmares him and hits him from behind. BD hammerlocks him. Zack hits a short arm lariat. BD hits punches and facekicks him. BD slams him then elbow drops him for 1. BD is swept off the 2nd rope then Zack throws him over the top rope. BD's head is banged off the buckles. BD is backdropped and kicked while he's down. Zack hits a hard low dropkick to the face. Zack bullies him around and hits crossface shots. Zack hits downward elbows and chinlocks him. BD flying lariats him then corner splashes him. BD hits a black hole slam for 2.

BD misses a corner splash and takes a 2nd rope diving codebreaker. Zack then pins him with a lariat.

Thoughts
: Zack won as expected here. Zack did a good job bullying Bryce around and was an effective heel. Bryce didn't get that much in and didn't really impress with what he did get. He's just kind of in between a lot of things. He's not tall enough to stand out. He's not muscular or ripped enough to really stand out either and he's kind of bland in the ring.

Dalton Castle and The Outrunners are interviewed. DC says he didn't get everything he wanted for Christmas this year. Turbo hugs them and says he's got all he needs right here. MxM TV then jump them in Christmas costumes. Mansoor says they get one more present - an @ss whooping in a fight without honor.

Boom And Doom (Big Boom AJ & QT Marshall) vs. The Frat House (Cole Karter & Griff Garrison)

Vance drops one of the pledges during their entrance. AJ comes out with his son and Aaron Solo but no Rizzler. His wife and daughter are in the crowd.

Cole shoves QT from behind and poses. QT drops him. Cole hits punches and boots on QT in the corner. GG is pushed into Cole. Griff takes corner attacks and a powerslam from AJ for 2. GG boots and euros AJ over. Cole does knee drops on AJ then hits mounted forearms. Cole hits shots to the gut. GG hits punches on AJ while he lays on the bottom rope.

AJ takes a double suplex. AJ belly to belly suplexes Cole. QT gets in. QT hits forearms on GG then handspring enzugiri's him. GG is thrown out and QT tope con hilos him and his crew. GG facekicks QT out of the ring. QT is then stomped on outside.

GG wristlocks QT and clubs on him. Cole hits QT in the gut. Cole standing dropkicks QT twice and GG gets a 2 count on QT. GG misses a corner splash. QT goes for the tag and Cole pulls AJ off the apron. QT takes a flying headkick + drop for 2. Vance threatens to chair QT outside. Aaron Solo and Big Justice stop him. The ref ejects Justice and Solo as Solo had a chair. Vance then grabs the chair, gets caught with it and him and Jacked Jameson get ejected.

QT STO's GG. AJ gets tagged in and hits shots on the heels. He slams both opponents. AJ full-nelson slams both heels. GG spinning forearms AJ. QT cutters GG. AJ hits a bad sky high on Cole. Vance takes a blockbuster + powerbomb combo and is pinned.

Thoughts: There was a lot of shenanigans here and AJ had a sloppy night here. I thought this went a little longer than it needed to and they should have just stuck with basic face and heel work.

Lee Moriarty is interviewed. He says he beat Nigel McGuinness last year and says he became the longest ROH Pure champ of all time. He says he has broken records. He says Komander earned this opportunity but he will learn there is a difference between proving ground matches and title matches. Lee says he will walk out tonight as the Pure champ.

Katsuyori Shibata vs. Lio Rush

KS offers a handshake and pulls away. They do a test of strength. Lio ducks a high kick and they stand off. Lio rolls him up for 2. KS boots him from the apron. KS snapmares him and rakes his face with his feet. KS suplexes Lio on the apron and holds on for a suplex on the floor.

Lios is sent into the rails. They trade shots inside. KS stomps on him and elbows him. KS hits chops. Lio ducks a PK and corkscrew kicks him. Lio handspring kicks him off the apron then topes him. KS gets his feet up on a top rope Lio splash. KS corner dropkicks him and underhook suplexes him for 2. Lio hits a bottom rope springboard stunner for 2.

KS low blows Lio then armbars him. Lio taps out.

Thoughts: It was a shorter bout and nothing too special. Some of their technical wrestling looked good in the beginning of this.

ROH Pure Title Match - Lee Moriarty (c) vs. Komander

They shake hands. Lee hammerlocks him. Kom hammerlocks him. Lee uses his leg and escapes. Lee side headlock takeovers him and armbars him. Lee does a border city stretch. Kom uses his first rope break. Lee takes him down by the arm and wristlocks him. Lee blocks a sunset flip. Kom 2nd rope moonsaults and tiger feints. Lee pushes him down. Lee drops down and rolls him by the leg into a grounded choke.

Lee spin kicks him in the gut. Kom walks up the buckles, comes down, cartwheels and backflips. Lee the tilt-a-whirl drops him on his chest and gut. Lee hits knees to the gut. Lee waistlocks him and rolls him. Lee does a nice grounded abdominal stretch variation and claws his ribs. Lee then crucifixes him for 2.

Lee abdominal stretches him and Kom hiptosses out of it. Kom hits some shots. Kom walks up the buckles, does rope tricks, tries a diving headscissors and is caught with an STF. Kom ropebreaks and Lee hits knees to the body while he's down.

Lee hits knees to the gut and hits corner spears. Kom dropkicks him in the knee. Kom spin kicks him and jumping ddt's him for 2. Lee punches him in the ribs and gets a warning for using a closed fist to face even though it wasn't in the face.

Lee back elbows him. Kom step up enzugiri's him from the apron. Kom rope walk crossbodies him. Lee suplex lifts him into a flatliner for 2. Kom uses his last ropebreak. Lee drops him on his arm and chest then puts the border city stretch on. Kom goes for a rope break that he doesn't have, Lee drops the hold and Kom gets a 2 count on Lee.  Lee runs at him and takes a standing spanish fly for 2. Kom running superkicks him in the back of the head.

Lee goes out. Kom walks up the buckles and blind springboard moonsaults outside. Kom poisonrana's him for 2. Kom armbars Lee and Lee uses his first armbar. Kom superkicks him in the head again. Kom ropewalk ssp's but Lee gets his feet up. Lee gori specials him in the ropes and Kom taps out.

Thoughts:
I liked the match. It was fast paced with a lot of quick reversals and counters. Lee had some cool technical spots here and they managed to blend their styles well. I thought it would be okay but this was actually good and worked out a lot better than I expected.

Overall thoughts: It was your usual ROH show. The stars weren't wrestling as usual and there was very little build to any future matches. We had some squashes and a couple of okay matches with the main being quite good. I also kind of liked The Swirl's tag match. I'd give this a 6 out of 10 mostly for the main which was a show stealer.

Ring of Honor TV 12/29/2012

Ring of Honor TV 12/29/2012

Last week's show is here: https://prowresblog.blogspot.com/2012/12/roh-tv-12222012-review.html

Next week's show is here: https://prowresblog.blogspot.com/2025/12/ring-of-honor-tv-152013.html

Kevin Kelly says it was a great year for ROH with great matches. He talks about The Briscoes and shows us:

The Briscoes (Jay, Mark and Papa Briscoe) vs House of Truth (Michael Elgin, Roderick Strong and Truth Martini)

Cousin Jethro is with The Briscoes. Mike back elbows Jay and is dropkicked. Mike takes punches and headbutts from Mark. We cut ahead. Jay euros Mike. Truth knees Jay from the apron then trips him. Mike samoan drops Jay for 2.

Truth double chops Jay outside. Jay is worked on in the corner and RS hits corner spears on him. Truth boots Jay. Truth takes a shot and tags out. Mike slams Jay then elbow drops him for 2. RS hits a punch flurry on Jay in the corner. Jay back elbows him out of the corner then flatliners him into the 2nd buckle.

Truth pulls Mark down on a tag attempt. Papa goes after Truth. Truth runs to the back. RS stomps on Jay. Truth comes back out. Jay takes corner attacks. Mike delay suplexes Jay for 2. Truth misses a corner attakco n Jay and goes crotch first into the buckles.

Mark comes in and beats up on RS and Mike. Mark flips out of a back body drop and enzugiri's RS. Mark dropkicks Mike in the corner. Papa comes in and RS pounds on him. RS is pushed into a Mark superkick. Papa chokeslams RS. Jay slingshot plancha's RS outside.

Truth hits Papa from behind. Mike then hits Pap from behind. Mark tope con hilos Mike outside. Truth grabs salt but it gets knocked into his own face. Papa stunners Truth and pins him.

Thoughts: It was clipped so it's hard to know what this really looked like. What we got was fine with Papa chasing Truth around and eventually getting the win over him. The crowd was really dead for all of this though until Papa came in which hurt things.

Kevin Kelly talks about the three way tag at Final Battle 2012, which I reviewed here: https://prowresblog.blogspot.com/2012/12/roh-final-battle-2012-ippv-review.html

We go to break and return. Kevin says everyone knows ROH athletes put it all on the line every time they fight. Kevin talks about Tomasso Ciampa blowing out his ACL and wrestling through it against Jay Lethal. He says he will be out for a year. He also shows us clips of Mike Mondo injuring his ankle and says he will be out for a year as well.

We then see:

7/21/2012 - ROH Title - Kevin Steen (c) vs Mike Mondo

I reviewed this here: https://prowresblog.blogspot.com/2012/07/roh-tv-7212012.html

Kevin Kelly says it's been a year of transformation for Jay Lethal. We see clips of Kevin Steen spitting on Jay Lethal's mom. We then see Jay Lethal throwing Jim Cornette over a table due to it. We see clips of a Survival of the Fittest match from 10/27/2012. Davey Richards and Jay Lethal were the final two left and Jay pinned him to win. I reviewed this here: https://prowresblog.blogspot.com/2012/10/ring-of-honor-tv-10272012-review.html

Kevin Kelly talks about the Match of the Year for this year. It's:

ROH 3/31/2012 Showdown in the Sun Day 2 - ROH Title - Davey Richards (c) vs Michael Elgin

I actually saw this one but decided to watch this again. I originally reviewed it here: https://prowresblog.blogspot.com/2012/07/davey-richards-vs-michael-elgin-and.html

DR hits kicks on Mike and they shoulder battle. DR dropkicks him. Mike is pulled over the top and DR kicks him in the back on the apron. DR topes him. DR chest kicks him outside. DR sits up top and is chopped. DR is lariated down.

Mike stomps him and clubs his chest. Mike delay suplexes him. Mike legdrops him on the apron. Mike hits a hard knee to the gut. DR handsprings and is caught in the torture rack position. Mike then drops down on his butt.

Mike chops him over and clubs his back. DR jawbreakers him. Mike hit a northern lights suplex for 2. We go to break and return. Mike gets stuck up top. DR hits a totally disgusting top rope dragon suplex. Mike of course kicks out. DR ankle locks him and Mike ropebreaks.

DR hits chest kicks. Mike piefaces him. DR hits Kawada kicks. Mike hits hard knees to the chin and DR hits Kawada kicks. Mike hits more knees. DR chest kicks him several times. Mike backrolls him into a german for 2. Mike superkicks him and hits a nightmare pendulum for 2.

Mike then crossfaces him. Both men are tired out. DR drago nscrews him aroudn the 2nd rope. DR top rope double stomps him on the apron. DR then does another top rope double stomp for 2. DR spinning lariats him then exploders him for 2. DR step up enzugiri's him. DR hits slaps and takes a spinning forearm. Mike does a high angle sitout reverse ddt for 2.

Mike buckle bombs him. DR spinning high kicks him and takes a hard lariat. DR toyota rolls him into an ankle lock. Mike crossfaces him. DR tries a pin on him. DR runs at him and is hit with a knee to the face. Mike uraken's him then spinning sitout powerbombs him for 2. Mike crossfaces him. Kevin Kelly says it's the greatest match he has ever seen.

DR tries to roll out of the crossface and grabs the ankle lock again. DR shining wizardss him for 1. Mike gets up and DR hits kicks to the head for 2. DR buzzsaw kicks Mike and pins him.

Thoughts: I didn't like this one at all. The dragon suplex off the top really should have ended it. It was a brutal bump. Everything else after was unnecessary. They did do a good job of working the crossface and ankle lock though. They were also stiff with each other and had good intensity. This should have ended much earlier than it did though and it had all the hallmarks of a 2010's indy main event. I would have liked this a lot more without the top rope dragon suplex and probably would have put this over without that.

Kevin Kelly then closes the show and says he will see us next year. He says we will see matches from Final Battle next week.

Overall thoughts: They gave us a pretty good card here with The Briscoes, most of a Steen/Mondo match and most of Richards/Elgin. Yeah, two of the matches were replays, but at least they picked noteworthy stuff to show again. I wouldn't really recommend this one though as it's always best to see matches from their original airing and not on replays.

Ring of Honor TV 1/5/2013

Ring of Honor TV 1/5/2013

Next week's show is here: https://prowresblog.blogspot.com/2013/01/roh-tv-1122013-review.html

Kevin Kelly welcomes us to the show and says it's a Road Rage edition. He talks about Final Battle 2012 and says the main will be Matt Hardy vs Adam Cole from Final Battle.

Truth Martini is interviewed. He says his men and Nigel don't see things his way. He says he doesn't sleep or eat and doesn't know what to do to get off. He can't decide whose corner he will be in tonight. He says he planned every thing in his life and this is the first night where he doesn't know what he will do.

Michael Elgin vs Roderick Strong

I reviewed this here: https://prowresblog.blogspot.com/2012/12/roh-final-battle-2012-ippv-review.html

During the break, they interviewed referee Todd Sinclair. He says his job is to uphold the rules. He says that didn't hapen during the ladder war. He says Steen and Generico threw everything they had at it. He says his job was easier but he was helpless and felt helpless.

Kevin Kelly talks about The American Wolves and how their match vs Red Dragon came to be.

Bobby Fish and Kyle O'Reilly vs Eddie Edwards and Davey Richards

I reviewed this here: https://prowresblog.blogspot.com/2012/12/roh-final-battle-2012-ippv-review.html

Eddie Edwards and Davey Richards do a promo. Davey says everyone will feel their wrath. Eddie says it was time for a change at Final Battle and the change was them reuniting. He says their goal is to take over tag team wrestling. Davey says the hunt is on.

Matt Hardy vs Adam Cole

I reviewed this here: https://prowresblog.blogspot.com/2012/12/roh-final-battle-2012-ippv-review.html

Veda Scott is interviewed during the break. She wonders what is going on with Jay Lethal and says he is crazy. She says the fans felt like they would see something they will never see again in the ladder war.

Overall thoughts:
This was all repeats from Final Battle 2012. If you didn't see that show, this was the show for you. If you did, there wasn't much to really see here.

Ring of Honor YouTube Special Episode #3 12/2/2025

Ring of Honor YouTube Special Episode #3 12/2/2025

The Beast Mortos vs Gravity

Mort misses a corner splash and is booted. Mort blocks a sunset flip and flying snapmares him. Grav flying headscissors him. Grav does his slow gravity walk and Mort shoulders him over. Mort slaps him down.

Mort hits corner attacks then powerslams him for 2. Mort twists Grav's head with his feet. Mort chops him down. Grav's handspring is blocked. Grav goes up and over in the corner into a sunset flip. Grav crucifixes him for 2.

Grav dropkicks him. Grav tope con hilos him outside. Grav misses a 450. Mort pop-up samoan drops him for 2. Grav toyota rolls him for 2. Mort headbutts him down in the chest. Grav does a terrible overhead belly to belly in the corner on Mort.

Grav goes up top and is thrown down. Mort powerbomb backbreakers him then spinning lariats him for the win.

Thoughts
: It wasn't good. Grav had his usual botches and just looked and overweight here. Even the stuff Grav didn't try to do in slow motion looked like it was done in slow motion.

Dalton Castle & The Outrunners (Truth Magnum & Turbo Floyd) vs. Rosario Grillo & The Frat House (Griff Garrison & Jacked Jameson)

The Frat's have Preston Vance with them.

RG and Truth lock up. RG clean breaks him but taunts him. Truth goes after him and RG hides under the buckles. RG hits Turbo from behind but he isn't bothered by it. Turbo punches him down. RG takes a double team ending in a backdrop and a Dalton splash.

Truth back elbows Griff then is back elbowed. Truth boots Jacked out of the corner. Jacked still has his hat on and Truth chops him. RG is on the 2nd rope and is chopped then falls in. Vance pulls Truth out and Truth fights off the heels. Jacked crossbodies Truth's back on the 2nd rope then spinebusters him for 2.

Griff flying corner lariats Truth then running facekicks him for 2. Jacked slams Truth. RG misses an elbow drop on him twice. Truth rolls over RG's back and Dalton tags in. Dalton suplexes RG, takes off Jacked's hat and suplexes him. Dalton suplexes Griff down. The heels are outside and throw RG in. They walk off. Dalton slams RG. The Runners do a double elbow drop on RG. Turbo puts Jacked's hat on RG and Dalton bangarang's RG for the win.

Thoughts: It was basically a squash here. The heels left Grillo and he got beaten right after. The faces were entertaining and it wasn't super serious.

Trish Adora vs. Leila Grey

They shake hands. TA armdrags her then gets armdragged. TA boots and clubs her. TA pulls her arms around the ropes. Grey running dropkicks her then flipping neckbreakers her. Grey slingblades her. TA hits corner spears on Grey.

Grey hits a crucifix bomb for 2. Grey powerslams her for 2. TA cravate cutters her for 2. TA hits kicks to the back then pulls her arms backwards while sitting on her neck.

TA top wristlocks her and takes her down with it. TA does a grounded cobra clutch. Grey hits chest forearms then lariats her. Grey superkicks her then germans her. Grey step up knees her in the corner. TA blocks a bulldog and spinning bckbreakers Grey. TA release germans her.

TA rolls her up for 2. Grey rolls her up in return. TA backslides her. Grey hits a sitout pedigree to win.

Thoughts: I was surprised to see Grey win this one. No one botched anything but it was pretty average without a real story. I didn't think it had much of a flow to it either.

The Dark Order (Alex Reynolds, Evil Uno & John Silver) vs Jay Alexander, Jimmy House & Vin Parker

Silver and Jimmy start us off. They lock up. Silver hammerlocks him. Jimmy back elbows him then Silver hits kicks to the chest. Jimmy jumps up high and is caught with a powerbomb. Jay comes in and is hit with a double shoulderblock. Jay is double tripped, has his hands stomped then takes a triple basement dropkick.

Jay takes corner attacks then Alex flying euros him. Alex boots him out of the corner then Jay hits Alex from behind. Alex is thrown into the buckles then choked in the corner. Silver is forearmed off the apron by Jay. Alex boots Jay out of the corner. Alex spinning forearms him then hits a cravate neckbreaker on him.

Uno gets in and hits corner lariats and splashes on his opponents. Uno ddt's Vin and Jimmy together. Vin is double flipped then Silver hits a bad canadian destroyer on Vin. Vin is held up in the air and Silver flips him over. Silver then pins him.

Thoughts
: It was a shorter bout here. Jay Alexander got offense in but that was it. It was your usual Dark Order bout and it was acceptable. Silver's powerbomb on House was nice.

Leila Grey and Zayda Steel are interviewed. Zay says she asked for this time. She says most people know her as the real deal. She says she's a big fan with Grey and would love a match. Grey agrees and says she can be a real baddie when she wants to.

Diamante vs. Persephone

Pers side headlocks her. Dia reverses it. Pers no sells a waistlock and is hit from behind. Pers throws Dia down off her back. They shove each other and armdrag each other. Pers shoulders her over.

Pers catches her in mid-air and fallaway slams her. Dia ddt's her on the apron over the 2nd rope. Pers hangs upside down and Dia baseball slides her. Dia flying headscissors Pers off the apron then dropkicks her into the rails.

Dia hits mounted shots. Dia knees her in the chest. Pers' face is raked on the top rope. Dia hits bad mounted corner punches then bites her head. Pers goes up and over her then dropkicks her. Pers corner lariats Dia. Pers puts Dia on the 2nd rope and headstand double knee presses her for 2.

Dia hits chops and forearms. Pers stunners her off the casadora for 2. Pers bridges out of a shot and superkicks her. Pers goes for a razor's edge but Dia hurricanrana's her for 2. Dia code red's her for 2. Pers hits a big spear. Pers hits a top rope moonsault and pins her.

Thoughts:
I didn't think it was that good. They didn't work that well together and had some sloppy moments. Dia hit some bad corner punches and there wasn't a real clear face or heel here.

Athena comes out after and has words for Pers.

Dia goes after Pers and is hit with a back elbow. Athena gets in and is forearmed down. Pers pump kicks her. Dia saves Athena from a razor's edge. Athena's belt is left in the ring and Pers holds it up.

Overall thoughts:
It was just a so-so show. There was nothing that good here and we had the usual squashes. I'd say The Outrunners' match was the best thing on here but that's not saying much. Dia/Pers should have been better than it was. I'd give this a 4 out of 10 and wouldn't recommend it.

Ring of Honor TV 11/3/2012

Ring of Honor TV 11/3/2012

Last week's show is here: https://prowresblog.blogspot.com/2012/10/ring-of-honor-tv-10272012-review.html

Note - All of the matches here are from Glory By Honor XI. I reviewed that here: https://prowresblog.blogspot.com/2012/10/roh-glory-by-honor-xi-review.html. However, I wanted to cover the other stuff from the show I didn't see at the time.

This is a Road Rage edition. Nigel McGuinness and Kevin Kelly welcome us to the show. Jay Lethal vs Davey Richards is tonight.

Truth Martini talks. He says they will dish out the hoopla tonight. He says thinks are alright with them and Roderick Strong. He says he doesn't feel sorry for many people but feels sorry for what will happen to Tadarius Thomas tonight.

Roderick Strong comes out. He says this is BS and says Tadarius Thomas has beaten no one. He says he doesn't deserve to face him. Strong says he's not going on strike, he's quitting The House of Truth. He says he will drink beer and watch Michael Elgin fail at becoming champ.

The ref goes out to count out Strong. Truth Martini then brings out Rhyno. He says the hoopla continues and says everything is fine with Strong. He says he has a hired mercenary and speaks the language of money. Truth says they will pick up some hoopla hotties after this and take their pants off. He says TD will D-I-E courtesy of the G-O-R-E.

Tadarius Thomas vs Rhino

Tadarius Thomas beat Rhino with a roll-up after a kick. I was really happy about TD getting the upset here. It looks like ROH finally opened their eyes and saw what they got here. Rhino was so-so but Tadarius Thomas was really awesome. He did new spots as shown above and just looked so cool. This guy is going to be absolutely huge if they do this right and he's already my favorite current wrestler. Rating:*1/5 (wasn't very long)

Rhino turned on Truth after the match for his involvement and for him trying to interfere.

We get some hype for Final Battle 2012. Shelton Benjamin and Charlie Haas do a promo. SB says the New York fans don't like WGTT. He says their opponents haven't been named yet but they will prove once again that they are still wrestling's greatest.

The announcers show us clips of Kevin Steen vs Jay Lethal. The match gets out of control. Steen spits on Lethal's mom and she throws water at him. Lethal then beats up Steen and various refs outside who are trying to break it up. We then see Steen throw stuff as he leaves. Jim Cornette tries to tell Jay that Steen didn't know that was his mom. Jay says he will murder the next person who tries to spit at his mom.

Lethal goes to the back and pushes over Todd Sinclair. He then throws Jim Cornette over a table in what was a wild angle at the time.

The announcers talk. Kevin Kelly says they talked to Jim Cornette on the phone and we see clips from that. Jim talks about Jay's mom throwing a drink at Steen which he said could be considered assault. He says Steen spitting at her could be assault. He then says Jay bruised up the ref and threw Jim over furniture. Jim says he reactivated an old back injury. He says he can't travel and says Jay was disciplined several different ways by Joe Coff. He said Steen threatened to sue due to unsafe working environments. He says a replacement will take over for him until he recovers.

We see a Matt Hardy interview. He says The Briscoe Brothers are a great tag team won the titles 7 times. He says he can remember when The Hardy's won the titles 7 times. He then talks about Davey Richards. He says he stands out and is a global name. Matt says he had wrestled across every continent in his teens. He talks about Jay Lethal's new attitude and says you have to step on people to climb the ladder and move up. He says he's a big fan of the ROH promotion. He says ROH has the talent, the wrestlers and need that one mainstream character whose face is known. He says they need that well known established star and asks who that could possibly be.

Thoughts: This was funny with Matt giving backhanded compliments and subtly putting himself over.

We see clips of a recent Steen vs Elgin match where Steen wins. Steen is given a box after by Nigel McGuinness and it has an El Generico mask. Strong also hits a sick kick on Elgin. Kevin Kelly says he will give us updates as they warrant it on that situation.

Kevin and Nigel show us a recap of the 2012 Survival of the Fittest. Jay Lethal and Davey Richards are the final two and Jay picks up the win.

Jay Lethal does a promo before his match. He says Joe Coff told him not to talk about what happened but said this is live and he doesn't care. He tells Steen to kiss his @ss for spitting on his parents and says he put Cornette in the hospital. He says ROH told him he was too nice and needed a killer instinct. He says ROH can also kiss his @ss. He said he respects Davey Richards but he has a lot of anger built up inside. He says Davey will be the wrong person at the wrong time.

They shill Final Battle 2012 before the next match. The Briscoes do a promo. Jay says there might be snow but they will walk out in their drawers if they have to. He says if SCUM still has the titles, they will whoop them. Mark tells Santa he wants a shot to become the 8x tag champs.

Jay Lethal vs Davey Richards

Jay Lethal beat Davey Richards with a Koji Clutch in a really good match. It went a little long and almost bordered into overkill mode but they did a nice job here. This was probably Jay Lethal's best match ever and gave me some hope in him. Richards was good here too. This is the type of match ROH is known for and they really did a stellar job here. Definitely worth checking out. Rating:***3/4

Next week will have Cole vs Edwards from Final Battle 2012 and more words from Matt Hardy.

Overall thoughts: There were only 2 new matches here. The first was a squash. The main was good though. I also liked Matt Hardy's interview segment. There wasn't much else here and there's really no need to see this show when you can see the whole thing on Glory By Honor instead.

Ring of Honor TV 11/23/2013

Ring of Honor TV 11/23/2013

Last week's show is here: https://prowresblog.blogspot.com/2025/03/ring-of-honor-tv-11162013.html

We see clips from last week's show. Tonight's main is Eddie Edwards vs Jay Lethal. Kevin Kelly and Steve Corino are on commentary.

ROH TV Title - Matt Taven (c) Zack Gowen

Matt has Truth Martini and Scarlett Bordeaux with him. Truth Martini talks to him on the mic. Truth tells Zack he doesn't have a shot and says the people are stupid if they believe in him. He says the only thing that Zack has better than Matt is a parking spot. For those who don't know, Zack only has one leg.

Matt pushes him over on the lock-uptwice. Zach chases him around and Matt goes out. We go to break and return. Matt misses an elbow drop and Zach hits one legged dropkicks. Zack is pushed into the ref and Matt hits him from behind.

Matt elbow drops Zack's leg. Zack boots him out of the corner, avoids a sweep from Truth then takes a triangle enzugiri on the apron. Matt asks if he knows who Zack is in the ring with and the crowd says, "Paulie Shore". We then get a "Paulie Shore" chant. Matt suplexes Zack.

Zack gets up and Matt lariats him. Zack rolls him up for 2 then Taven dropkicks him. Taven comes off the 2nd rope and runs into Zack's boot. Matt is pulled out then Zack kneeling springboard tope con hilos him. Zack goes up and gets stopped. Taven gets knocked down off the buckles and Truth pushes Zack down. Zack rolls him up for 2 then cradles him for 2. Zack STO's him for 2 then does a koji clutch.

Matt misses a charge and goes crotch first into the ropes. Zack asai moonsaults him while he's stuck on the ropes. Truth distracts the ref and Zack baseball slides Truth down. Scarlett then gets on the apron. Matt then hits his headlock driver finisher on Zack and wins.

Thoughts: The heels were effective in being dirtbags here as they had to cheat a lot to beat the one legged man. They maybe overdid it. There wasn't much to build this which hurt it as it made it obvious Zack wasn't winning. Zack was impressive though for his limitations.

Matt goes to beat up Zack after but Tomasso Ciampa comes out with a crutch to stop him.

Veda Scott says she assumed we tuned in to see the return of RD Evans. She says RD isn't here though and is training. She says he will be a wrecking machine when he returns. She says everyone will have more time to prepare for the wrath of RD. Eddie Kingston appears behind her with a clown mask. He says him and Homicide have been asking for a title match against Red Dragon. He says sooner or later Nigel will give him it as they will help ROH rise.

Jay Brisoce does a promo on his Final Battle match with Michael Elgin and Adam Cole. Elgin says he will do whatever it takes to leave champ.

Michael Bennett and Maria talk about Final Battle and his stretcher match with Kevin Steen. Mike says he has beaten Steen and this is just sour grapes. He says the loser of this match can't use the piledriver. He says this will be Steen's final match and says he will need the stretcher to get out of NYC.

Jay Briscoe comes out. Jay says it's a privilege to come out as the ROH champ (he's not though as he was forced to vacate it). He talks about the Final Battle three way match for the title with Elgin and Cole. He says the title Cole has doesn't mean anything and calls for him to come out. Silas Young comes out. He says Jay is nothing but a joke like his brother. Jay tells him to get in the ring and Silas says he's taking the title if he does. Jay then says it's a title match.

Real World Champion Title Match - Jay Briscoe (c) vs Silas Young

Jay hits headbutts then back elbows him. Jay boots and foot chokes him. Jay back elbows him and forearms him over. Jay chases him around the ring and gets hit coming in. Jay hits headbutts then a neckbreaker on him for 2. Jay hits punches and headbutts. Jay hits a nice facekick.

Silas takes Kevin Kelly's chair and throws the chair in. Silas then grabs a hammer that Jay doesn't see. Mark Briscoe comes out and takes it from Silas. Jay kicks the rope into Silas' crotch and jay drillers him for the win.

Thoughts:
This wasn't much. Jay didn't do much but strikes and Silas went down easy.

Caprice Coleman and Cedric Alexander do a Toys for Tots ad.

We see a video on Jimmy Jacobs challenging for Cole's ROH Title. Jimmy says it's the one title that has evaded him. Cole says the title is going nowhere. Jimmy says he's challenging for the title in his home city and says the title it will be his. Cole says he will hurt him and the belt will be his forever. BJ Whitmer then is shown next to Jimmy and says he will be there watching his back.

Jay Lethal vs Eddie Edwards

Davey Richards is with Eddie. Eddie side headlocks him and shoulders him over. Eddie trips him then Jay rolls him. Eddie side headlocks him and is put in a headscissors. They then switch roles, repeat the spot and stand off.

They do a double knuckle lock. Jay pins him down and Eddie bridges. Jay flips out of a monkey flip. Jay then hiptosses him into a basement dropkick. Eddie is tripped into the 2nd rope then Jay slides out and dropkicks him.

Jay boots him out of the corner then 2nd rope leg lariats him. Jay euros him. Eddie boots him out of the corner. Jay is put in tree of woe then Eddie dropkicks him as he hangs. Eddie then dropkicks him again from the outside.

We go to break and return. Eddie hits chops then misses a corner charge and goes out. Jay topes him twice. Eddie hurricanrana's him out then hits a tope. Eddie then topes him again. Jay superkicks him. Jay springboard dropkicks him off the apron then topes him.

They stare down and go head to head in the ring. They trade forearms. Jay hits a lethal combination then top rope elbow drops him for 2. Jay back elbows him then it reverse sitout slammed off a handspring for 2.
Jay gets enzugiri'd up top then Eddie hits a backpack stunner for 2. Eddie then turns it into a single leg crab. Jay cradles him for 2. They each try pin attempts. Jay shotei's him then Eddie corner forearms him. Jay then backflips and hits a cutter off of it to win.

Thoughts: The finish looked a little funny with Jay backflipping to nowhere but hitting a cutter off of it. The match was decent. There wasn't a great story or clear faces or heels but the action was fine and we got some dives before going home. It was a totally acceptable TV main and I'd watch it again.

Overall thoughts: As usual, there wasn't a ton going on storyline wise and it's doubtful a lot of the match results will really lead anywhere. It was an easy hour of wrestling to watch though and I was fine with it. There's nothing you need to see but the main and opener were decent and the Briscoe match was short. I'd give this one a 5 out of 10 as it was average overall.

Ring of Honor TV 11/16/2013

Ring of Honor TV 11/16/2013

Last week's show is here: https://prowresblog.blogspot.com/2025/02/ring-of-honor-tv-1192013.html

Steve Corino and Kevin Kelly are on commentary.

Champions vs All Stars - Adam Cole, Matt Taven, Kyle O'Reilly and Bobby Fish vs Michael Elgin, Jay Lethal, Cedric Alexander and Caprice Coleman

The person who pins Cole gets a title shot. Cole rolls out and Elgin goes after him. Taven and Jay then get in. Jay hits chops on Taven and Taven goes out. Fish gets in and waistlocks Jay. Jay chops him. Ced gets in and wristlocks Fish. Fish pulls him down and does a facelock. Ced knees him in the gut then baseball slides him in the head. Coleman hits punches on Fish then leg lariats him. Fish atomic drops him. Kyle gets in.

Kyle side headlocks Coleman and shoulders him over. Coleman hits armdrags then dropkicks Kyle. Elgin gets some shots in on Kyle then sends him hard into the buckles. Kyle jawbreakers Elgin. Taven gets in and suplexes Elgin.

Elgin no sells it then tries for a delayed suplex but the champions break it up. We go to break. Veda Scott does a promo. She says the wait of injustice is off her shoulders. Kyle gets into it with Outlaw Inc and Outlaw Inc beats up the heels. Taven then does a suicide dive onto everyone. Ced then tope con hilo's out. We cut ahead as Outlaw Inc. is escorted out. Ced springboards into a Cole superkick. Cole pins Cedric Alexander. We go to break. Kevin Steen congratulates Michael Bennett for getting under his skin. Steen says he's better than anyone else at getting under people's skin. Steen says he dreams of dropping Bennett on his head. He says all it does is spell Bennett's doom. Steen says he will make sure Bennett doesn't get back up when he package piledrivers him. He says he will put him on a stretcher.

We go to back to the match. Taven takes a double enzugiri from Coleman and Jay. Coleman is back body dropped outside then Jay hits a lethal combination on Taven. Maria distracts Jay on the apron and kisses him. Jay then hit a lethal combination on Taven. Casey Rae (Truth Martini's female side kick) grabs Jay up top. Jay grabs Rae then Taven superkicks Jay off the top with Rae through a table outside.

Coleman rolls up Taven for 2. Coleman headbusters Taven for 2. Coleman drops Taven with a punch then does locomotion northern lights suplexes. Taven headlock drivers Coleman. Cole argues with Taven and tells him to get out. Cole then gets a 2 count on Coleman. Elgin takes a double superkick from Elgin and Taven. Cole straightjacket germans Caprice Coleman and pins him.

Jay Lethal is still down outside and Cole's team has the 4v2 advantage. Elgin is surrounded 4v1 with Jay down outside. Elgin gets group stomped. We are told we are at the 41 minute mark (meaning at minimum we missed 11 minutes so far).

Elgin misses a corner charge and Kyle gets a 2 count on Elgin. Kyle armbars Elgin but Elgin powerbombs him out of it. Elgin beats up the heels on the apron then takes a flying kick from Kyle. Kyle tornado ddt's him. Elgin hits a pendulum side slam on Kyle for 2.

Nigel and the refs are still checking on Jay outside as we hit 47 minutes. Fish is on Elgin's back with a sleeper and Elgin germans Taven with Fish on him. Elgin rainmakers Kyle O'Reilly and pins him.

Fish pounds on Elgin. We go to break and return. Elgin superplexes Cole into the ring from the apron. Jay Lethal then comes back out. Jay is tagged in and hits lariats on his opponents. Taven is lariated over the top. Jay throws Cole over the top. Jay springboard dropkicks Fish off the apron then he topes him. Jay then topes Cole and Taven.

Truth Martini gets in the ring and is superkicked by Jay too. Jay texas cloverleaf's Taven. Cole superkicks Jay from behind and hits oblivion. Cole pins Jay Lethal. Taven misses a top rope frogsplash on Elgin. Elgin then crossfaces him but the heels break it up. Elgin back body drops Cole onto Kyle outside. Elgin reverses Taven's headlock driver with a crossface. Elgin submits Matt Taven. Fish buzzsaw kicks Elgin for 2. Elgin hits a big punch on Fish then does a samoan drop + fallaway slam combo to Fish and Cole. Elgin buckle bombs Fish then spinning sitout powerbombs him. Elgin pins Bobby Fish.

We cross the 1 hour mark on this match. We go to break and return. Cole running boots Elgin. Elgin rolls him up for 2. Elgin hits a chaos theory german on Cole for 2 then holds on for another german. Cole hits an ushigoroshi on Elgin and running leg knees him.

We cut ahead again. Elgin corner uranages Cole. Elgin running lariats Cole. We cut ahead again. Cole figure fours Elgin. Elgin cradles Cole off the figure four attempt. Elgin crossfaces him. Elgin buckle bombs Cole. They reverse moves and Elgin backhands him.

Thoughts: We really only saw close to half the match. I liked what we did see though. I thought they put Elgin over well here and the finish of him ending up 1v1 with Cole and beating him fit the storyline of Cole trying to avoid Elgin. The heels used the advantage they had on Elgin for a while and even had help from Truth Martin and the girls. I would say what we saw was a good match, but it's hard to know without seeing the whole thing.

Jay Briscoe comes out after with a bag. Elgin and Jay argue as Jay says he needs to settle things with Cole. Elgin grabs him then Jay hits Elgin and Cole with the bag. Jay gets on the mic after. He asks how you can have champions vs all-stars without the real world champ? Jay then pulls out his own version of the ROH Title with confederate flags.

Thoughts: I had no issues with the angle. Jay never lost the title and was just stripped of it.

Overall thoughts: We only had one match here. I liked what we saw of the one match but the one match was too long for TV to be shown in full. I think I understand why - ROH had a limited budget, wanted to show at least some of it and wanted you to buy the DVD of it to see the rest. I think what we got of the match was enough to make you satisfied, but we missed close to half of it so it's hard to know how good it really was. I wouldn't recommend this one and would just recommend seeing the full match instead.

Ring of Honor TV 11/9/2013

Ring of Honor TV 11/9/2013

Last week's show is here: https://prowresblog.blogspot.com/2025/01/ring-of-honor-tv-1122013.html

Kevin Kelly and Steve Corino are on commentary. Kevin says they will move on and not talk about legal issues in the settlement. Steve says they are buddies and asks what he's talking about.

Tommaso Ciampa vs Jesse Sorensen

TC and Jesse lock up. Jesse waistlocks him then TC side headlocks him. TC shoulders him over and Jesse pops back up. TC shoulders him over, Jesse pops up and is thrown backwards. Jesse gets a sunset flip off a leapfrog and dropkicks him. Jesse ducks a running knee.

TC cravates him. Jesse dropkicks him. Jesse hits a punch and does a botched fameasser. Jesse dropkicks him. TC knees him off the apron from the bottom rope. TC clubs him outside.

Mats are pulled up from the floor then Jesse plancha's TC. We go to break and return. TC lariats Jesse in the ring. Jesse back elbows him then hits a jumping neckbreaker. Jesse hits a nekcbreaker then a mcgillicutter for 2.

Jesse hits a step up enzugiri. TC hits a sitout torture rack bomb for 2. TC running knees Jesse in the corner twice. Jesse hits a sunset bomb and TC's spine bangs on Jesse's knee. TC throws Jesse shoulder first into the buckles then does a sicilian stretch on him. TC then wins.

Thoughts:
Jesse had one botch here but it was acceptable. Jesse got most of the offense in on this one before losing as expected.

We get a video on Outlaw Inc.

Next week it's Champions vs All Stars. Cole says it's #1 vs 2. Bobby Fish says the four are the bridesmaids and never the brides as they pull up lame when the lights shine the brightest. It'll be Adam Cole, Red Dragon and Matt Taven vs Michael Elgin, Jay Lethal and C&C Wrestle Factory.

Adrenaline Rush (ACH and Tadarius Thomas) vs Outlaw Inc. (Homicide and Eddie Kingston)

Hom is wearing a clown mask with a brown fro. Hom hugs everyone. Eddie waistlock takedowns ACH. Eddie cravates him. ACH side headlocks him. Eddie shoulders him over then armdrags him off the hiptoss. ACH dropkicks him.ACH corner enzugiri's him.

ACH hits a neat top rope diving euro on Eddie. ACH teases a springboard but instead does a flip into a flip. We go to break and Elgin says it's champions vs all-stars next week. He says it's about Adam Cole and the ROH Title. Cole says there's a reason Elgin's team aren't champs and he will prove it. Elgin says Cole has a week to look at his belt and kiss it goodbye.

We return Hom does a 2nd rope double ankle breaker I guess on ACH. Hom dropkicks the knee then Eddie reverse cloverleafs ACH. Hom pulls ACH's leg around the middle rope then STF's him. ACH flatliners Hom.

TD gets in. He backrolls Hom and kicks him from the mat. He hits kicks on Eddie. Hom irish whips TD and TD does a tope on Eddie off of it. TD 2nd rope superplexes Hom for 2. Hom neckbreakers TD then Eddie sliding lariats TD in the back of the head. ACH comes in out of nowhere and splashes Eddie's back. TD puts Hom up top. TD ends up taking an electric chair bulldog and is pinned.

Thoughts: It wasn't that good. It didn't get a lot of time and didn't have a ton of rhythm to it.

Eddie gets on the mic again. He says it's another show where Red Dragon ducks them. Eddie calls them snowflake and gets a chant going for that. Eddie then calls them a bunch of p*ssies.

We get a video on Jay Briscoe's situation where he was stripped of the ROH Title. Kevin Kelly says Jay is a danger to those around him in ROH.

Roderick Strong vs Paul London

RS waistlock takedowns him. Paul does the same to him and they stand off. RS takes him down by the leg and front facelocks him. Paul hits a hard facekick. RS takes him down then Paul hits a nice running dropkick. Paul plancha's him outside. We go to break and return. RS double underhook bridging twisting backbreakers him.

RS chops him in the corner. Paul hits forearms on him then goes up and over. RS sends him into the post gut first. RS pulls him against the post. They crossbody each other at the same time.

They trade forearms. Paul boots him from the ropes then germans him. Paul hits lariats and spinning heel kicks him. Paul flips out of a back body drop and leg lariats him for 2. RS hits corner spears on Paul. Paul goes to springboard and RS dropkicks him. Paul dropsaults him off the apron then tope con hilos him. Paul hits a springboard dropkick for 2. Paul is yanked into a backbreaker for 2. RS superplexes him for 2.

RS crabs him. Paul rolls him up off of it for 2. Paul knees him in the face then is hit with a forearm. RS goes for a gutbuster but Paul double stomps him off of it in a cool spot. They trade forearms. Paul clubs on him then superkicks him. Paul hits a jade end for 2.

Paul misses a double stomp off the apron then RS half-nelson slams him on the apron. RS hits a double knee gutbuster and sick kicks him for 2. Paul sunset flips him off a double underhook. RS jumping knees him then double underhook powerbombs him. RS crabs him. Paul headscissors him out of the ring into a tombstone. Paul top rope double stomps RS' back. Paul then hits an SSP and wins.

Thoughts:
This was a random match but I liked it and I thought it was good. It's 2025 and Strong is basically wrestling the same match today. There were lots of backbreakers as you would expect and Paul took a beating. Paul looked really good here with his agility and easily seemed a step above everyone else. I would have liked them to lean more into face vs heel stuff though since London is a good face.

Overall thoughts: The main was the only thing worthwhile on here. There were virtually no storylines going on in this one either, so it was an average show. It was easy to get through but I wouldn't give it more than 5 out of 10 overall. I wouldn't recommend this one.

Ring of Honor 4/27/2002 A Night of Appreciation

Ring of Honor 4/27/2002 A Night of Appreciation

The last show is here: https://prowresblog.blogspot.com/2025/01/ring-of-honor-3302002-round-robin.html

HC Loc and Tony Devito meet in the back. Devito pushes someone over then throws someone else into seats.

Divine Storm and Brian XL talk in the back. Storm asks to try a new submission on XL. XL says no and Storm says he will love it. XL says he's a high flyer and he doesn't do submissions. XL says they are "beotches'.

The Christopher Street Connection then go out to see the fans saying they will do it better than The Hit Squad. They kiss out there and Da Hit Squad chase them away. The Squad says no one opens the show and rattles them up like them. Maff says when they think they have all the answers, they change the questions. He says not to throw rocks at people holding a machine gun.Mack says it doesn't matter where you're from as long as you're chanting "Hit Squad". Maff says everyone is here to see Ring of Honor.

Quiet Storm goes up to American Dragon Bryan Danielson. He says Brian XL wants to learn a submission from him. Storm tells him to come over and stretch him. XL calls Divine a "beotch". XL says he doesn't get stressed out for nobody. Storm tells Dragon to put the submission on extra tight.

Storm and Dragon come in and Divine runs away. Dragon puts a hold on XL and taps him out.

Da Hit Squad and Boogalou talk. Boog says Homicide is in Japan and not here. Devito asks if Boog is ready. He says it's coming at him. Boog doesn't know what he's talking about.

We see the PA State Athletic Commissioner talk. Spanky walks in. The Commish says all the big bosses will be here tonight. He asks for applause from Eddy and says it'll be his last night here as he's going to the WWF. The Commish tells Spanky to take his headphones off and says to pay attention. He says to give 110% for Eddie Guerrero tonight.

Da Hit Squad come out and take the mic from the announcer. The announcers runs into Maff on accident and runs. Maff calls out The Christopher Street Connection.

Prince Nana, Elax and Simply Luscious vs. The Christopher Street Connection (Buff-E & Mace) vs. Da Hit Squad (Mafia & Monsta Mack)

The Hit Squad goes after the CSC.  Maff slaps up one of them outside. Allison Danger gets on the mic but we can't hear her. The Squad corners Danger. Danger says it'll be a three way match tonight. Nana, Elax and Simp attack The Squad. Maff gets his face humped by The CSC then hits a double german on one of them and Elax.

Nana flapjacks Maff. Maff takes corner attacks. Nana throws Elax out for some reason, shakes Simp's hand and Simp corner dropkicks Mack in the crotch. Danger plays with Simp's hair as hse tries to flirt with her. The announcers say, "she's as gay as them". The Squad then spears everyone but Danger and Elax.

Maff running facekicks and sentons Nana. Mack hits a high overhead belly to belly suplex. A CSC takes a half-nelson suplex. Simp is popped up and takes a flatliner from The Squad. Simp then takes a burning hammer and is pinned.

Thoughts: These segments continue to confuse me and seemingly go against everything ROH is supposed to be about. I thought the first time they did it was to show that this was going to be a company against the entertainment side of wrestling, but they keep going on and The Squad keep getting the better of everyone else. The Squad throwing everyone around is working some though with me.

Maff lariats Elax. Mack hits a top rope butt drop onto Elax on a table.

The Briscoes talk in the back. Mark says Jay lost 2 in a row. Jay says he's tired of Mark making fun of him. Mark says Jay hasn't had a match yet and doesn't do nothing. He tells him to shut up.

Jay chops down Tony then pop-up drops him. Jay rolls up Tony for 2. Tony victory rolls him for 2. Jay rolls out of a backslide and hits a jay driller. Jay then gets the pin.

Thoughts:
I liked it. Tony worked the arm for a bit and Jay kind of won by surprise at the end. The two did have some good chemistry and the first part of this one was fast.

Mark walks out after and Tony flicks his chin at Jay after the handshake.

Mark tells Jay he almost lost in the back. I think their parents tell Mark to stop and tell him Jay won the match. James Maritato then yells at Tony as he comes to the back. James tells him to drop the comedy act. Tony says he knows who he is. James tells him he can keep doing the comedy stuff but it's without him.

York and Matthews talk. They said they shut down CW Anderson last time. They say they will be in full effect against Divine Storm tonight.

Christian York & Joey Matthews vs. Divine Storm (Chris Divine & Quiet Storm)

Joey and Storm go at it. Storm hammerlocks and headlocks him. Joey rolls and kips up out of an armlock then hits an armdrag. Joey drops Storm with a shot. York top rope dropkicks Storm for 2. Chris pulls York over the top. Storm hits forearms on Joey. Storm rolls him into a reverse figure four. Joey then taps out.

Thoughts: The finish was a little random but there was some structure here and the two teams complemented each other. This was the best outing that Divine Storm has had so far and no doubt it's due to getting away from The SAT.

James Maritato talks. He says Xavier beat him last time and beat Scoot before it. James says we have a 3-way dance tonight and everyone knows he's the master of it. He says he will show what the true shooter is all about. he says he will submit someone tonight.

Scott Andrews does a promo. He said he broke his leg last month and said Xavier didn't get what he deserved. He says everyone knows Maritato is the king of the 3-way. He says all 3 ways end with him getting the pin with the force of nature. He says there's no walking out, there's just getting carried out.

James Maritato vs. Scoot Andrews vs. Xavier

James and Scooty lock up. They double boot X and double back body drop him. James waistlock takedowns Scoot then side headlocks him. Scoot reverses it. James rolls up Scoot for 2. X dropkicks Scoot.

James backdrops Scoot for 2. Scoot reverse ddt's James for 2. James russian legsweeps Scoot from the 2nd rope. X flies off the top onto James and James catches him with an armbar. James then gets the win.

Thoughts:
It had the usual clunkiness than 3-ways have. Most of the big spots were sloppy here and it just wasn't that good.

Allison Danger pushes someone in the back. She goes up to Rob Feinstein. She says she came here from Texas and wants to do something better than teaming with Nana. Rob says to trust him for next month's show.

AJ Styles does a promo. He says it's the south vs the north. He says they should give the people what they want and that's a battle.

They trade chops and Ki enzugiri's him from the mat. AJ puts Ki on his shoulders and Ki rolls him up for the fast-count pin.

Thoughts: It was a good match but I didn't like the ending. The pin was just too fast and they might as well have had a more epic finish since they went all out here. They had a very stiff match with a fast pace. It put AJ on the map and made him look like one of the best in the promotion in his first appearance. Ki took a horrible over the shoulder ddt on his head as you can above.

Christopher Daniels does a promo. He says ROH has finally done something right. He says ROH has brought in a talent of his caliber in Donovan Morgan. He says they know Morgan's name means top notch talent and a #1 wrestler. Daniels says he doesn't have to go through a 3-way or some round robin match. He says he will pin him tonight and prove he's the top man in ROH.

Dunn & Marcos vs. Carnage Crew (DeVito & Loc)

The crew run in with hubcaps and run off Dunn and Marcos. The Crew hit punches to start and Devito stomps on one of them in the corner. Loc hits a backdrop on Dunn. Marcos is catapulted into a facekick.

Thoughts:
It was a squash as expected with The Crew running over Dunn and Marcos.

Dunn and Marcos are hit with hubcaps after.

CD crossfaces him. CD shoulders him over then CD rolls him up for 2. DM lariats him for 2. DM hits a twisting fisherman neckbreaker on CD for 2. DM then does another and wins.

Thoughts: The match didn't make sense booking wise. Daniels had a 3-way with Dragon and Ki then they had a round robin with them where the score ended up with everyone tied. One would think we'd get some other kind of match to determine who is the best of those three. Instead, everyone is off doing different things.

This was similar to the AJ/Ki match booking wise. They used the wrestler the fans know to build up a new person here in Donovan Morgan. It was a fast paced match with lots of moves and action but not much selling or story. I still kind of liked it as they didn't overdo it, but I would not have had Daniels lose here as he's clearly been established as one of the top guys and it's too early for him to lose to newcomers.

Daniels gets on the mic. He said said he's been forced to do three ways and round robins. He said he got beat in a straight singles match. He then offers to shake DM's hand. DM comes back in and Daniels says to wait a second. CD says he won't shake anyone's hand in this ring and says the code of honor is a farce. He says DM proved he is a top talent. He calls Low-Ki a punk and says people like him are gonna come after DM. Daniels offers to watch DM's back here in ROH.

Spanky talks to fellow TWA in the steps. He says they remind him of ding-a-ling jabroni's. Rudy Boy Gonzalez says he's proud of the wrestlers. Michael Shane tells him to have some respect. They argue about it and Rudy says to go out and do your best. Spanky says Rudy will be proud of him when he wins the gauntlet. They ask who will go first in the gauntlet and Rudy says he will determine it because he's the trainer.

Heartbreak Gauntlet Match - Michael Shane vs. American Dragon vs. Spanky vs. Paul London vs. John Hope

They fight up top and end up going out. Spanky sends Shane into the rails. Shane is busted open. They trade shots outside. Spanky sends Shane into the post. Spanky hits forearms and Shane hits punches back. Shane lariats him over the top.

Spanky's head is banged off the buckles. Shane hits punches. Shane then gets pulled over the top to the floor. Spanky hits punches outside. Spanky suplexes him for 2. Spanky hits knees to the head. They trade more shots. Shane forearms Spanky then hits a whisper in the wind off the top onto him.

Spanky hits punches to the head then Shane lariats him. Shane back body drops him then flying forearms him. Shane bengs over and is kicked. Spanky is back body dropped out. Spanky tries to skin the cat but is dropkicked. Shane hits a nice tope con hilo outside.

Spanky hits a bad sliced bread #2. Spanky is knocked off the top then Shane falls off the top like a drunk man in a bad spot. Spanky gets a 2 count off of it. Shane superkicks Spanky. Spanky hits a sliced bread #2 and wins.

Leg 4 - Spanky vs "American Dragon" Bryan Danielson

BD waistlock takedowns him then armdrags him. BD tries to handstand out of a headscissors and Spanky stops him. BD bridges and Spanky gets on top of him. Spanky gets a 2 count on him. Thoughts: It was a long gauntlet here and it was even longer in reality, as the first match was clipped. I don't have any thoughts on the first match as we didn't really see it. London/Shane didn't get enough time. Shane/Spanky had Shane as the face which is something you don't see a lot. I thought he did a good job as a face and looked better as one than he did as a heel. He did some high flying he usually didn't do and showed me some potential. The last two matches were similar. Both got a ton of time and this was clearly a way to show off the TWA crew and figure out who was worth pushing. I wanted to like Shane/Spanky but Shane's spot where he fell off the top looked so hokey and they kept the match moving, but they didn't sell much. Spanky/Dragon got ruined by Spanky ripping his pants half-way through and wrestling the match with his underwear exposed. That's not something you want to have in a showcase match like this. Like the last match, they kept it moving but the selling was just non-existent here. At least they didn't overdo it though. I didn't like Bryan losing here as like with Daniels earlier, this is the 3rd ROH show and he needs to be protected. I think they did a good job in showing off London/Shane/Spanky though and it's clear that these guys were talented despite being younger wrestlers. I would say this was a success overall and did what it was supposed to.

Spanky gets on the mic after. Bryan's down and he wants Bryan to come and shake his hand. Spanky mocks him. Spanky says this is his is first step in the road to the title and calls himself The New Show stopper (as he's a Shawn Michaels student). Bryan says this is the first time that Spanky has ever beat him.

Christopher Daniels comes out. He calls them both youngsters. He says they aren't in the same league as him. He says he will be the first ROH champ.

Scoot Andrews comes out. He talks but we can't hear him. Daniels runs him down and says he doesn't deserve to be in the same ring as him. Scoot yells at him and challenges him to a match in the first round of the ROH Title tournament. Daniels says it's up to the booker to determine who fights who.

Xavier then comes out. X says it's about honor and he wants to throw his name into the tournament. Jay Briscoe comes out and says he wants in the tournament. Prince Nana comes out and talks. Low-Ki then comes out and talks. Nana talks to him and slaps him. Nana tries another shot and is dropped by Ki. Ki says everything everyone has done has gotten them to this point. Ki talks to all the people in the ring. Ki says the first champ needs to uplhold honor and says Daniels can't so it won't be him. Ki says it's not the size of the fighter but the size of the fight he brings and talks about seeing them in June.

Thoughts: It was a long segment that was impossible to understand due to sound issues. But they set up the matches for the upcoming title tournament here which they needed to do.

Eddie Guerrero & The Amazing Red vs. The SAT (Joel Maximo & Jose Maximo)

Eddy comes out with the WWE Intercontinental Title. Jose backs up Red in the corner. Jose shoulders him over then Red hurricanrana's him. Red hits armdrags. Jose dropkicks him then Red hits an assisted headscissors. Eddy tilt-a-whirl backbreakers Joel.

Eddy wristlocks Joel and armlocks him. Joel shoulders Eddy over then flying headscissors him. Eddy does a sharpshooter off a sunset flip attempt and Joel ropebreaks. Eddy backdrops then slingshot swantons Joel. Eddy takes a back body drop then is dropkicked.

Eddy is double tripped. He is then put in a surfboard + dragon sleeper combo. Jose basement dropkicks Eddy for 2. Jose chinlocks Eddy. Eddy superplexes Jose. Red ddt's Jose then standing ssp's him. Jose catches Red's hurricanrana and hits a sitout powerbomb.

Jose suplexes Red for 2. Red gets superkicked for 2. Red is put in a reverse rocking chair then takes a slingshot legdrop on the back of the neck. Jose comes off the buckles and gets corkscrew kicked by Red.

The locker room comes out ot watch. Eddy comes in and pounds on a Maximo. Eddy hits a brainbuster. Eddy is rolled up for 2 and he hits a lariat on Jose. Red does a slingshot tornillo out then Eddy's top rope hurricanrana is blocked. Eddy pops Red up into a hurricanrana on Jose. Red tope con hilos out. Eddy hits a splash mountain on Joel and pins him.

Thoughts: It was the best SAT match in ROH so far. They hit most of their offense and the match was structured alright. It wasn't great and was not trying to be some epic but I thought it worked and put over The SAT.

Bryan XL comes out after and complains about something. We can't hear as usual due to audio issues. Eddy offers Bryan a piece of him if he wants it and XL accepts it.

Eddy Guerrero vs Bryan XL

XL hits shots on Eddy then is pop-up dropped. Eddy powerbombs XL then brainbusters him. Eddy then hits a top rope frogsplash and pins XL in a short one.

Thoughts: I'm not sure why this was on here but I'm sure XL was thrilled to work with Eddy.

Eddy gets on the mic after and the crowd chants, "we will miss you". Eddy talks but it's too hard to understand him. I think he says he's happy when he's in the ring. He talks about his early career and says he's happy whether people are cheering him or booing him as they are here. Eddy thanks everyone and hugs The SAT and Red. He puts the IC Title on Red's shoulder.

We see Ki and Bryan Danielson walk down to the locker room and talk about Eddy. They see Spanky in the locker room talking to a slice of pizza. Ki asks why Spanky wasn't paying respect to Eddy. Ki throws Spanky's headphones. Spanky says people don't pay to see Eddy, they pay to see him. Daniels and Donovan Morgan come in. Daniels cals them girls and a fight fight breaks out. Security breaks it up and Spanky goes with Daniels and Morgan. Spanky asks what what's wrong with them. Morgan asks if he wants to do something about it and he says not to them. Daniels said if he still had hair, this place would make it grow gray.

Overall thoughts: It was a long show. Wrestling wise, it was the best show so far as The SAT and friends didn't do their usual botchfest. They are clearly pushing Spanky as the next big heel and set up a partnership with Daniels and Morgan. They also debuted AJ Styles here and he looked like a top guy on day one. I didn't like them having Danielson and Daniels losing here though as I thought they should be protected as the top guys. I'm still not sure what the idea is with Nana and The Christopher Street Connection though and they clearly don't fit in with what this company is doing. The Eddy stuff was fine. I'd give this one a 6 out of 10 overall as the wrestling was better overall than the first two shows, they built up the title tournament for the next show and some of the prospects they gambled on are starting to shine.
