NWA JCP SE 5/23/2024 Season 4, Episode 6

The Stew Crew do a promo. They say they are taking the first step into winning the tag team tournament. They aren't happy with their seeding. They say they will do whatever they have to in order to get the titles for the third time.

Joe Cazana and Tom Prichard talk. They said they might have made a mistake with making Spanky the commission. Joe asks where he got the money for a $10,000 body slam challenge? Tom says Spanky is pushing his weight around and says if anyone can get to the bottom of it, it's Joe. Joe says if The Stew Crew win tonight, they are in the finals. They said other teams have to win twice to get into the finals. They say they need to go find Spanky. I have no idea who Spanky is. 

NWA JCP Southeastern Tag Team Title Tournament First Round Match - The Stew Crew (Dylan Stewart & Zach Stewart) vs. The TVA (Big L & Devan Dixon)

 

Zach's the bigger Stewart here and Dylan is the smaller one. Dylan waistlock takes down Dixon then armlocks him. They do a test of strength and Dixon armlocks him. Zach armdrags him and armlocks him. Dylan is thrown into a spear on Dixon then Zach is butt rammed into Dixon's head.

Zach throws Dixon. Dixon back elbows him out of the corner then L gets in. L stares down Zach. Dylan jumps on L's back with a sleeper and is thrown over. L then takes a double dropkick. L is double clotheslined over the top to the floor.

Dixon takes a double suplex for 2. L pulls the top rope down and Dylan goes out. Dylan's back is then rammed into the steps and post by L. Dylan's head is banged off the buckles and L boots him. L footchokes Dylan. Dylan is dropped on the top rope and bounces off of it down to the mat.

L elbow drops Dylan's back then Dylan is choked on the ropes. Dixon drops Dylan with a punch. He abdominal stretches him with help from L. Dylan backbreakers Dixon. L misses an elbow drop on Dylan and Zach gets in.

Zach hits forearms on L and throws Dixon in. Zach does a samoan drop + dropkick combo. Zach misses a corner splash and takes a facekick from L. Zach hits headbutts and punches on L. L takes a double backdrop. Zach hits a top rope splash but it's for 2 as Dixon breaks the pin up.

Dylan throws Dixon out. Dylan hits shots on L then does a big suicide dive over the top rope. Zach is sent into the post then L boots Dixon then Dylan moves. The ref does the count and Dylan is the only one to make it in on time. The Stew Crew win by countout.

Thoughts: It went a little long but it was an okay tag. Zach had a good showing here and we had some typical face vs heel stuff here. The countout finish was fine as the match was decent enough and long enough to make it feel not like a ripoff.

Commissioner Spank's $10,000 Body Slam Challenge

 
Spank comes out but it's hard to hear most of what he said. He challenges a 10 year old kid in the audience to slam him and the kid makes an awesome mean face, points his finger at him and poses. The kid gets on the mic and cuts some kind of promo on Spank and tells the crowd to make some noise. The kid steps on Spank's foot then his dad or someone else in the ring slams Spank. The kid is then given the $10,000 check and celebrates with it.

Spank says something else after and the kid points at him before going back to his seat.

Thoughts: It was too hard to hear the people involved in this but the kid was absolutely awesome. He had the mannerisms down and he seemed to actually be a good promo. I could not believe my eyes as he had a better defined character and ring presence than most people in wrestling do. They HAVE to get this kid on this show again. This was something else.

The Southern Six do a promo. Silas says he has had the Southeastern belt for almost 2 years now. Silas calls Jay Bradley a dumb@ss and say he must be an idiot to step in the ring with Silas Mason. He says the heat might be too hot for him to stand in the kitchen and he might be burning up like he's in hell.

Thoughts: Not the greatest material here but they performed it well.

NWA JCP Southeastern Title Match - Silas Mason (c) vs. Jay Bradley

Jay backs SM up into the corner. SM then backs Jay up. Jay wristlocks him then SM side headlock takeovers him. Jay headscissors him then SM side headlocks him on the mat. Jay armlocks him again then SM shoulders him over. They shove each other and Jay pulls him down by the hair.

Jay side headlocks him then SM dropkicks him out. SM throws a chair in and sits on it in the middle of the ring. They test strength. Jay knees him in the gut and rams into his shoulder. SM side headlocks him then shoulders him over. Jay throws him down backwards by the hair.

Jay running shoulders SM twice then knocks him out of the ring with it. SM's head is banged off the apron then Jay runs him over outside again. They trade shots outside and Jay hits a hard chest club. Jay clubs on him more.

Jay facekicks him off the apron. SM comes back and hits a headbutt then is knee'd in the head. Jay clubs on SM and eye rakes him. Jay abdominal stretches him and SM hiptosses him out. Jay running facekicks him and takes a big lariat. Jay jumping knees him then suplexes him. SM backdrops him for 2.

Jay back body drops him then misses a corner charge. SM hits a big standing blue thunder then misses a 2nd rope elbow drop. Jay wastelands him then 2nd rope vader bomb elbow drops him for 2.

Kerry Morton gets on the apron. Jay grabs him by the throat. Alex Taylor hands SM the title belt and SM hits Jay with it to win the match.

Thoughts: The finish wasn't the best ever but it was a hard hitting heavyweight match. It was just two big dudes clubbing and pounding on each other here just as you would want. Silas really took a beating here at times. I liked this one.

Overall thoughts: We had 2 matches and a segment here. The two matches were both good. The opener had typical face vs heel stuff which worked and a couple of highlights. The main was just two hosses beating the crap out of each other with Jay really giving Silas a whooping. The body slam challenge was really hard to hear but the kid in it looked like a better wrestler than most of the people on TV today and legit seems like the next big superstar. I could not believe it. This was a good show and the kid's segment is worth a look if nothing else.

KC and AJ Cazana do a promo. AJ says they found themselves in the tag tournament and said they found themselves "The Southern Sucks" (The Southern Six). AJ says he's going to slap Kerry Morton's hairdo off his head. KC says they better think twice before lighting strikes. They say they will be dead to rights if they step to them.

Ricky Morton does a promo. He says the scars on his head came from the NWA. He thanks everyone for coming out and says they are all about professional wrestling. 

There was an intergender match here that I won't be watching.

NWA JCP Southeastern Tag Team Title Tournament First Round Match - The Country Gentlemen (AJ and KC Cazana) vs The Southern Six (Kerry Morton and Alex Taylor)

AJ backs up Kerry in the corner then throws him. Kerry grabs the arm then is slammed. Alex gets in and is chopped down by AJ. Alex takes a double team then KC dropkicks KC. KC powerslams Kerry then slams Alex. Kerry trips KC from the outside then KC is double teamed in the corner.

Kerry suplexes KC for 2. Alex back elbows KC and Kerry chokes KC on the ropes. Kerry snapmares KC then fist drops him. Alex stomps KC in the corner. Kerry stomps KC's hand. KC is thrown into the buckles, jumps onto them and hits a twisting crossbody. AJ is hot tagged in.

AJ beats up the heels. Alex is laid over the top rope gut first. AJ corner splashes both opponents then spinebusters Kerry. Alex takes a hart attack from the 2nd rope and is pinned.

Thoughts: It was a short but decent tag with the heels beating up on the faces then the faces making their comeback to win.

Overall thoughts: There were only 2 matches here and one of them was an intergender match that I didn't cover. The Southern Six vs the Country Gentlemen was short and decent but not must see. I don't recommend this one.

Zuka King vs Shoop

Shoop armdrags him and Zuka hits a boot and chop. Shoop goes up and over then armdrags him. Zuka hits shots on the ropes then Shoop slams him. Shoop monkey flips him then suplexes him around. Zuka rolls him up with the tights for 2.

Shoop misses a dropkick then Zuka misses an elbow drop. Zuka uranages him on the apron and they trade shots. Shoop hits forearms and is hit in the throat. Shoop slingshot sunset flips him but Zuka blocks it. Shoop step up enzugiri's him then Zuka flatliners him into the buckles.

Zuka knees him in the gut and kneedrops him. Zuka hits corner spears and Shoop misses a 2nd rope dropkick. Zuka chinlocks him. Shoop hits elbows to the gut then Zuka lariats him. Zuka misses a punc and Shoop hits clotheslines. Shoop russian legsweeps him for 2.

Shoop hits a nice dropkick and Zuka grabs a foreign object. Shoop dropkicks him and grab the foreign object. Zuka misses a charge and lands on the ropes. Shoop top rope elbow drops him and wins it.

Thoughts: It was a little long but it was a decent match here with Shoop being a good face. Shoop showed some nice fire at the end of this.

The Weaver and The Pain do a promo. Bruiser Bob says their opponents aren't a real tag team. Moxxi asks where his opponents hearts are and says they will take them on a one way trip to Bruiser City.

NWA JCP Southeastern Tag Team Title Tournament First Round Match - The Weaver and The Pain (Moxxi and Bruiser Bob) vs Gustavo and Axton Ray

Mox and Bob fight over who gets in the ring first. Ray shoves Bob over. Bob side headlocks Gus then shoulders him over. Gus trips Bob and dances. Gus puts him in la magistral then flying headscissors him. Gust dropkicks both opponents.

Bob is sat up top, Gus gets on Ray's shoulders and punches Bob. Ray punches Mox at the same time. Bob is thrown off the top. Mox and Gus get in. Mox boots him then is armdragged twice. Mox leapfrogs Gus then Bob nails Gus from behind.

Gus is double teamed and has his legs split. Gus' eyes are raked across the top rope and he takes chops from both opponents. Gus gets his head banged off the buckles. Gus is 2v1'd in the corner and takes a nodowa otoshi + backdrop combo. Bob knees Gus in the gut. Gus upkicks Bob.

Gus comes off the 2nd rope and is hit by Bob. Gus takes a backbreaker + face kick combo for 2. Mox stomps on Gus then pumping knees him. Mox blocks Gus' tag and Gus ddt's him. Both tag out.

Ray boots Bob then flying lariats him off the buckles. Ray lariats Bob over several times, limbs out of a lariat then hits a stiff pumping knee on Bob. Ray package backbreakers Bob. Gus is lifted and dropped down onto Bob for 2. Mox tries to bring a chain and is stopped by the ref. Bob stops a double team and lariats Ray. Bob sitout spinebusters Ray. Mox top rope legdrops Ray and wins the match.

Thoughts: It was an okay match. The dynamics of this were weird and Mox and Bob came off like faces yet were heels and Ray/Gus were definitely the faces. I liked some of the in-ring work but the lack of clear faces/heels messed it up. Gustavo has some charisma and maybe has something. Mox has a lot of energy but he's smaller which is going to limit what he can do.

Mox pounds on Gus and Ray after. 

Openweight Title - Toby Farley (c) vs Drew Hood

Drew gets on the mic beforehand but it's too hard to hear. Toby wristlocks him and someone is taking notes outside. Toby stf's Drew but Drew ropebreaks. Drew lariats Toby then stomps on him. Toby chops Drew then Drew stomps on him. Drew drops him with an uppercut. Toby hits shots to the gut then Drew boots him in the gut in the corner. Drew facewash kicks him then sentons him.

Drew front facelocks him and is suplexed. Toby flying knees him then hits a falcon arrow for 2. Toby stomps on him then Drew low blows him on the ropes. Drew lifting ddt's him and wins it.

Thoughts: It wasn't long enough for the type of match they were doing and ended before it really got going here. They said Toby was going to Japan after this so that's likely why he lost the title here.

Overall thoughts: There were only 3 matches here. 2 of the 3 matches were okay, but I wouldn't recommend it. There were no storylines, angles or promos here for this one.

Tyler Shoop did a promo on Mims and he said he was harder than him. Shoop yells "harder" and gyrates. Mims said he built the NWA and the NWA house doesn't stand up without him. Mims says his opponent will find out how great he is tonight. Mims said his opponent thinks he trains harder than him, but Mims says you can't train harder than him.

Tyler Shoop vs Mims

Shoop gyrates and says "Shoop trains harder". Mims then says "big, strong, Mims". They repeat this again and lock up. Shoop hits a corner spear and a euro. Shoop tries a hiptoss but is thrown. Mims then gyrates and says he trains harder. Mims shoulders him over.

Shoop hits a step up enzugiri and Mims shoulders him over. Mims runs through his lariat and shoulders him over again. Shoop then goes out. Mima bangs Shoops' head off the apron outside then Shoop stomps him as he gets in.

Mims lariats him and gyrates more. Shoop rude awakens him for 2. Mims jawbreakers him then Shoop foot chokes him. Shoop cravates him then hits a nice dropkick. Mims hits corner spears then hits punches to the gut. Shoop russian legsweeps him for 2.

Shoop gyrates over him then does a camel clutch variation. Mims picks him up and drops him back. Mims hits back elbows and a headbutt. Mims running lariats him then Shoop backrolls him with the tights. Shoop picks up the pin.

Shoop does the gyrations and stuff a little too much and he's hard to understand, but maybe there's something there if he can tone it down. Mima showed some personality here though I also could have done without him gyrating so much. I thought it was an okay match. 

The Southern Six (Silas Mason and Alex Taylor) vs The Stew Crew (Zach and Dylan Stewart) 

Zach and Silas slap each other then shoulder battle. Zack back body drops him then Silas goes out for a timeout. Zack face kicks Alex then slams him. Zack runs through a double lariat then hits a double flying lariat. Alex and Silas are then lariated over the top.

Silas and Alex take double axe handles off the apron then Dylas dropkicks Alex. Dylan release germans Alex for 2. Dylan takes a codebreaker on the ropes from Alex then takes a double suplex.

Dylan is tripped into an elbow drop then Alex chinlocks Dylan. Alex dropkicks Dylan then Silas chops Dylan. Dylan hops back and is headbutted. Silas misses an elbow drop then Alex rolls into a reverse figure four on Dylan. Silas pulls on Alex to help him with the submission.

Alex butt drops Dylan's back then Dylan turns around and gets his knees up. Zack is tagged in and beats up the heels. Zack powerslams Alex then does a dropkick + samoan drop combo. Dylan is rocket launched but caught by the heels then Zach dropkicks him over. Zach hits a top rope dive to the outside.

Alex grabs a title belt then Dylan hits a suplex neckbreaker. Dylan misses a top rope swanton. Alex grabs the title again and the ref takes it. Alex then low blows Dylan and gets DQ'd.

The ending wasn't that good here and it was a little longer and slower than it needed to be. Zach's hot tag could have been better here as well. Alex isn't bad, just small and I'm sure we'll see more of Zach in the years to come.

The faces thwart a heel double team after and Silas is hit with both title belts. Alex takes an assisted swinging side slam after. Silas goes to grab his title belt then Zach holds it up at him.

Overall thoughts: Just two matches here as usual and one promo. Shoop is a little too much at the moment but may have some potential. Neither match was bad but not great. The main went a little longer than it needed to. I don't recommend this one.

The Cazana's do a promo. They said there's a new tag team coming in of Michael Gabriel and Evan Golden and they trying to make a name off of them. AJ says this is the wrong team to do it with. KC said  they tangled before and said they will be dead to rights when they have them in the squared circle.

Tobey Farley vs Zuka King

TF's a bigger and meaner looking guy. TF side headlock takeovers him, keeping the headlock on. TF throws him down by the arm. Zuka boots him in the gut then side headlocks him. Zuka shoulders him over then TF armdrags him. TF hits a leg lariat and Zuka goes out.

TF hits a PK from the apron then Zuka begs off inside. TF hits a forearm flurry then Zuka hits TF in the gut with a weapon. Zuka hits a shot to the gut then knees him in the gut. Zuka drops him on his knee then hits him in the gut with a weapon.

Zuka rakes TF's back then abdominal stretches him. Zuka uses the ropes for leverage. TF hiptosses him then takes a knee to the gut. TF hits back elbows then hits a flying knee to win it.

TF only hit Zuka's arm on the finish here. It was a slower paced match with basic heel work and some weapons usage. Not super exciting and Tobey could have used more of a comeback before grabbing the win.  

Michael Garbiel and Evan Golden (The Guiding Light) do a promo. Michael's doing some kind of preacher/cult leader gimmick. Evan said they face The Country Gentlemen tonight and they could use some positive guidance. Michael said he wants to offer a guiding light of enlightenment. He said it'll be a glorified opportunity for the almighty.

The Country Gentlemen (AJ and KC Cazana) vs The Guiding Light (Michael Gabriel and Evan Golden)

Evan and KC start us off. Evan double slaps his chest off the break. Evan wristlocks him, KC rolls, kips up and side headlocks him. KC leapfrogs him then hits an armdrag and hiptoss. AJ chops Evan and Evan does a big sell for it.

AJ works Michael's arm and sends him into the buckles. KC corner splashes Michael then Evan flying knees KC. Evan eye rakes KC then pulls his neck forward. Evan pulls on KC's hair then KC takes a double back elbow. Michael neckbreakers KC. KC hits forearms on Evan then hits a powerslam on him with Evan's head going into the mat.

KC is pounded on by both opponents in the corner. Michael springboards and does a stunner off of it for 2. Michael misses a corner splash and AJ is hot tagged in. AJ beats up on the heels and slams Michael. AJ hits corner splashes on both then he drops Evan gut first on the middle rope.

AJ spinebusters Michael then Evan is held up in the air for a top rope diving KC lariat. KC picks up the win on Evan.

It was an average match for the most part. Evan isn't exactly his dad Jimmy Golden. Michael seems like he has some Joe Gacy-esque personality to him though. I think some of the time could have been knocked off of this and the pace could have been quicker.

Overall thoughts: Only 2 matches again just like last week. They weren't awful, but longer and a little slower than they should have been. I wouldn't recommend this one.

NWA JCP SE 2/25/2024 Season 4, Episode 1

NWA JCP SE 2/25/2024 Season 4, Episode 1

This one of NWA Powerr's new territories.

Billy Corgan comes out to talk. He says this is going to be one of the first regional promotions for the NWA. He brings out Joe Cazana, hos the JCP part is named after. Joe says his friends and family are here. He says the NWA is home and is where he wants toe end his career. He says whatever happens from here, he is part of the NWA. 

Bill thanks him for all he's done and says the fans love pro wrestling. He said it's a team effort and announces that JCP is officially NWA JCP Southeast. He says the title that Silas Young is holding is now an official NWA title. He thanks the fans for their support. Billy says this is happening. Joe says it's a great pleasure to be here. He says they are the best wrestling in the Tennessee valley and are now the best wrestling in the southern US.

Jeremiah Plunkett vs Andy Optimal

They lock up and trade wristlocks. JP ropebreaks then Andy side headlock takedowns him. JP shoulders him over then Andy armdrags him. Andy goes up and over in the corner then armdrags him. Andy headscissors him over and headlock takeovers him. JP headscissors him and Andy gets out.

JP punches, headbutts and stomps him. JP knee chokes him in the corner. JP side headlocks him and rakes his face. Andy gets some sots in and JP eye pokes him. Andy hits punches then chop flurries him. Andy flying knees him then flurries on him.

Andy is dropped over the top buckle then JP rolls him up to win it.

It was a rather simple match with nothing too wild happening, just headlocks, eye rakes and basic strikes. Andy's comebacks were okay but it wasn't a real memorable match.

Kyle Davis of the NWA says JCP will get better in the future. He says you don't want to miss it as it's wrestling as it's mean to be.

The Weaver and The Pain do a promo. They say the Heatseekers will have the burden take off their shoulders of being the best unsigned team in the world as they will take the title from them.

JCP Southeastern Tag Titles - The Heatseekers (Elliot Russel and Matt Sigmon) (c) vs The Weaver and The Pain (Moxxi and Bruiser Bob)

Matt Sigmon of The Heatseekers says they are one of the best teams and the tag champs. He said you give them the respect them deserve when you see them in the ring. He says you get the honor and privilege of seeing them wrestle and says they will still be champs at the end of the night.

Russell is the bigger Heatseeker and Matt is the smaller one with the short hair. Moxxi has the yellow and gold singlet on and Bob is the bigger one with the hair.

Sigmon and Mox go at it. Mox rolls out of a wristlock and kips up. Mox wristlocks him then takes a headscissors. They then stand off. Matt shoulders over Mox then Mox sunset flips him. They legsweep each other and Mox armdrags him.

Mox hangs on the ropes, Matt goes after him but misses. Bob headbutts Matt's hand then Matt takes a double atomic drop. Bob slams Matt then Mox elbow drops him. Matt eye rakes Bob. Russell nails his partner off the top then Bob moves.  

Russell shoulders over Bob twice then hiptosses him. Russell misses an elbow drop and they shoulder battle. Bob flying shoulders Russell. Russell takes a double backdrop for 2. Bob double axe handles Russell off the 2nd rope then Bob bites Russell. Russell atomic drops Bob then Matt suplexes Bob.

Matt knee drops Bob then Bob's legs are split. Bob takes a double axe handle to the back then trades shots with Russell. Russell death valley drivers Bob. Bob is tripped into a Matt elbow drop. Matt headlocks him. Matt dropkicks Bob. Bob nearly goes out but rebound lariats him off the ropes.

Mox hits forearms on everyone then bangs the heels' heads  together. Mox then neckbreakers Russell, forcing him to ddt Matt at the same time. Mox dropkicks Russell out then asai moonsaults him outside. Mox top rope crossbodies Russell for 2. Mox takes a stungun then he is slammed. Matt top rope headbutts Mox and gets the win.

There was nothing wrong with this one. Pretty standard tag team wrestling here with the heels heeling it up on the faces then the faces making their comeback leading to the finish. Mat's a little small but he's pretty good at what he does. If Bob could put on some weight and muscle, he might be able to get somewhere. I could see The Heatseekers maybe getting around a little more if the right eyes see them.

Overall thoughts: There were only 2 matches on this one. Both were fine. The main was better than the opener and The Heatseekers have a nice little act going on that may get them further. Not must see, but it was an easy 35 minute show to get through.
