AEW Rampage 9/30/2022

Last week's show is here: https://prowresblog.blogspot.com/2022/09/aew-rampage-9232022.html

AEW Tag Titles - The Acclaimed vs The Butcher and The Blade vs Private Party

The first pin wins this one. Matt Hardy is watching in the back. Bowens takes down Kass and goes for pins then Kass hurricanrana's him. Kass drops back to avoid a superkick and shakes hands with Bowens. Max dropkicks Kass then scissors Billy Gunn.

Max sunset flips Kass, Kass hangs on then Bowens neckbreakers him over Max's knees. Bowens 2nd rope legdrops Quen in the nuts then Butcher and Blade attack The Acclaimed. PP hit the silly string but Blade pushes Kass to the floor off the attempt. Bowens then takes a B&B double headbutt.

We go to PiP break and return. Blade powerslams Bowens for 2 as we return and Bowens takes a side slam + legdrop combo. Bowens superkicks Blade then Butcher back body drops Bowens. Quen springboard crossbodies Bladse then springboard moonsaults Butcher. Kas jumps off his partner's back into a corner move on Blade then Quen flip dives Butch. Blade takes a neckbreaker + swanton combo for 2.

Quen takes a huge back body drop over the top by MAx then Butch lariats Max. Kass is thrown onto Blade's knee then Blade hits a rough sitout powerbomb. Kass springboard crossbodies onto the outside then Max top rope crossbodies everyone on the outside. Bowens does a uranage into a side slam then Max hits a top rope elbow drop on Blade and wins it.

It started off well and the finishing stretch was decent but it did fall off a little around the commercial break. Could have been better with a few more minutes and on a PPV, but it worked.

The Firm are interviewed in the back. They ignore Lexy Nair. The Gunn's make fun of FTR and their titles, calling the titles by the wrong names. They note that they have been #1 contenders for a long time and haven't gotten a shot. Then they say "top guns out". I wasn't a fan of this one as it kind of buried the titles.

There was a Jade Cargill segment that I won't be covering here.

Lee Moriarty vs Fuego del Sol

Lee has a new mask with ears on it and W. Morrissey and Stokeley Hathaway are with him. Lee rolls him up on the mat to start and Sol superkicks him. Lee dropkicks him and kips up. Lee stomps him on the ropes then flying knees him in the corner. Lee hits a neat suplex then picks him up for a backdrop and drops him forward. Lee then hits a border city stretch and wins this quick squash.

Morrissey chokeslams Sol after.

Page, 10 and Uno are interviewed. Page says he is looking foward to fighting Mox. Uno says everyone will be in his corner. Andrade and Jose walk in and we see clips of 10 getting eliminated in the battle royale. Andrade says next week is the anniversary of Brodie Lee's last match. He challenges him to a match and says if he wins, he gets 10's mask. 10 says Andrade leaves AEW for good if he wins.

Stokeley and Ethan Page walk in after. They ask who the boss of Private Party is. Page said he saw contract tampering with PP and Matt Hardy. Andrade is confused.

Willow Nightingale vs Jamie Hayer

Willow ducks a lariat and Thesz presses her, then they trade shots and Willow headbutts her. Jamie back elbows her and they shoulder battle. Willow shoulders her over and slams her then sentons her. Willow crossbodies her as she is seated then suplexes Jamie for 2.

Willow takes a face kick and goes down then takes a meteora in the corner. We go to PiP break and return. Jamie urange's her on the knee. Willow pounces her and sends her out of the ring. Willow death valley drivers her for 2. Willow goes up top and Britt interrupts her then Jamie grabs her and germans her. Jamie then hits a rainmaker and wins it.

This was decent.

We get a video on Wardlow and Samoa Joe. They say the power and chaos is limitless. Joe says all who stand before them will fall.

Ryan Nemeth comes out to talk in the ring. He says Rocky Balboa is not real and says Ben Franklin moved here to die. He then talks about "Extremely Crappy Wrestling" and Hook comes out. Hook lariats him then shoulder throws him. Hook then hits crossface shots and taps him out with the tazzmission.

The Trustbusters come out with an envelope for Hook. Hook walks away with it.

We get a video on Swerve Strickland at a rap festival.

Mox and Adam Page talk about each other. Mox says we'll see about his cowboy sh!t. Page says he needs the people for his title match, then Page is told it will be in Mox's hometown.

John Silver, Reynolds and then Rush, Andrade and Jose do split screen promos. John says Andrade's mancrush on 10 is creepy. Reynolds said the thing with 10 won't happen because they are a tight family and unaffected. John says he will beat up Rush. Andrade said they will show that they are winners. Rush says there is too much talking and says he is here to fight.

Trent Barretta does a promo where you say there's a rule that you don't hit a man in the head with a hammer, which referred to Pac hitting OC in the head with a hammer. He says he's going to hurt him and to really drive that point home, he has Danhausen and Chuck Taylor put their hands in. Stupid segment.

Rush vs John Silver

Rush shoulders John over, stomps him and poses. John does a bad leapfrog and running euros him. John mocks the tranquillo pose. Rush gets back in and decks John. Rush chops John and dropkicks him in the back. Rush throws him into the rails then drops him with a forearm.

Rush kicks him in the corner an ddoes the tranquillo pose, then we go to PiP break. They fight outside during the break. Silver is hit with a trash can right in front of the ref and the ref doesn't care. We return and they exchange running corner moves then John germans him. Rush goes for a hurricanrana but is caught and sitout powerbombed. They trade shots and Rush superkicks him.

They trade chops and Rush drops him with a forearm again. Silver hits more kicks and brainbusters him for 2. Jose gets on the apron and is pulled off then Andrade gets on the apron. Rush running forearms John then running shotgun dropkicks him in the corner to win it.

I didn't like this one at all. Rush should have DQ'd for the trashcan shot and they had stupid interference that didn't add anything.

Silver and Reynolds are stomped down after then Uno and 10 make the save. Adam Page then comes out to help them when Butcher and Blade come out. Page and Rush trade shots and Page buckshot lariats Jose.

Overall thoughts: I liked the opener though I didn't care for the main. The women's match wasn't bad.
