WWE NXT 10/29/2024

They go to show us clips from Halloween Havoc but Tatum Paxley interrupts with a casket. She says Wendy Choo takes her final ride and we will find out about what happened at Halloween Havoc later.
Casket match - Tatum Paxley vs Wendy Choo
Wendy brings a bed out on wheels. Wendy has blue facepaint on, red hair and some weird clothing. Tatum hits forearms then dropkicks her. Wendy lariats her and Tatum kips up, hitting a step up enzugiri. They fight on the apron and Wendy is pulled down on it. Tatum then cannonballs off the apron onto Wendy. Tatum puts a garbage can on Wendy's head. Tatum then hits the can with a kendo stick.
Tatum corner crossbodies her then does like a reverse samoan drop. Tatum dives at her in the corner but goes into a trash can. Tatum is in tree of woe with her head in the trash can. Wendy hits a dropkick on the can.
We go to break and return. A dollhouse is brought in the ring and Tatum is hiptossed into it. The dollhouse then falls onto Tatum. Tatum is in the casket but Wendy can't close the lid as Tatum blocks it with a pillow. They do tug of war over the pillow and Wendy hits Tatum with the pillow.
Wendy then spills legos out of the pillow. Tatum takes a half-nelson slam on the legos. Tatum stops the lid from being closed on her. Wendy dives on her in the casket and the lid closes on both. They then both sit up in it and fight. Tatum uses a fire extinguisher on Choo, who is on the casket. Choo falls off and goes through the bed she brought out. Tatum then slams the casket door on Choo and pins her.
Thoughts: It was a good opener and it was really entertaining. They used some unconventional weapons here like dollhouses and beds which created some interesting spots. It was amusing, believable and fit the two characters. This couldn't have gone much better than it did and I thought this was a huge success. I feel like this is the swan song for the evil Choo character but we'll see.
We see Trick Williams walk the halls.
Trick Williams comes out to talk. He said he went to the devil's playground, washed his hands with holy water and beat Page for the NXT Title. He says he's in pain, like Page said he would be, but he said Page didn't tell him that Ridge Holland was going to jump him.
Trick asks Bubba Ray Dudley to come out. Trick thanks him for helping him at Halloween Havoc. Bubba says it was about Ridge Holland and the disrespect he showed. Bubba said not one person came to save Trick when he got jumped. Bubba says it's because he's the NXT champ. He says it might as well be a target or a bullseye. He tells Trick he needs to have eyes in the back of his head.
He says he wants revenge on Page and Ridge. He says he wants a tag match and asks Bubba to be his partner at The ECW Arena. Bubba says Trick has his juices flowing. He says maybe he should bust out the tie dye and the glasses (he then puts them on) and he says maybe he should tell Trick to get the tables.
Bubba says it's not about him, it's about Trick and every wrestler in the roster room who can do it. He says he can't take their spot and says he has to say no. Bubba hten walks off.
Ava is seen watching in the back and Rob Van Dam is next to her. He says him and Bubba have history. He says Bubba might not want to be his partner but he knows someone who does and points to himself. Ava says she'd be happy to have him and asks what he might do on the show next week. Wes Lee is behind them and seems to follow RVD out.
Kelani Jordan goes up to Ava. She complains and says she wants a rematch. Nikkita Lyons goes up to her. She says she lost and she's not the only one who wants it. She says Fallon needs a challenger. Kelani says she'll take of Lyons and go back to Fallon.
Shawn Spears and Brooks Jensen talk in the back. Shawn says he wants to be the #1 contender and they go up to Tony D'Angelo and Rizzo. Luca and Stacks interrupt, saying he has an urgent voicemail. The message complains about Tony coming to Philly next week. They say this is disrespect and says they'll see him next Wednesday. Tony says they'll handle it next Wednesday.
WWE NXT Heritage Cup Match - Charlie Dempsey (c) vs Lexis King
William Regal is with King and is Dempsey's dad. NQCC is with Dempsey.
Round 1 - Dempsey water wheel drops him. King headscissors him. CD takes him down with a bodyscissors. They trade pin attempts. King backslides him. King does under his legs and slaps his knee to try to get CD to go after it but CD hust nails him. CD hits shots, tries to use the buckles and is dropkicked. King top rope twisting crossbodies him. King goes for a bridge but CD gets out. CD double underhook suplexes him and gets the pin. Dempsey leads 1-0.
Round 2 - CD rushes him with a shot and hits knees. CD then does a cravate takeover. CD cravates him on the mat. CD hits a knee to the body. King hits monkey flips. King is back body dropped to the outside. Regal checks on King and we go to break. We return with 40 seconds left in the round. We were told the matchup was paused. King jawbreakers him and hits euros. King back body drops him and lariats him. King superkicks him and the round ends.
Round 3 - CD hits knees and dragon screws him. CD hits euros then gutwrench suplexes him. CD fisherman suplexes him for 2. CD half-crabs him. They trade chops and forearms. King hits chops and CD seems to hurt himself irish whipping King. King step up enzugiri's CD. Regal gives King brass knucks. King says he's not his father. He gets chop blocked then CD germans him for the 2-0 win.
Thoughts: We're in like the 2nd or 3rd chapter of a story here with King. We have some ideas where it might be going but we just don't know yet. They could have maybe done a better job leading to the finish but the finish definitely is part of this story with King and we don't know what it is yet. The match wasn't that much and kind of felt incomplete.
Lola Vice talks about how she will knock out Jaida Parker next week and says Dawn Marie won't even have to count.
Zaria vs Brinley Reece
This is Zaria's NXT debut. Zaria shoulders Brin over. Brin hits a forearm and is knocked over. Zaria lifts her up by the arm and throws her over. Zaria supposedly pops out and pops Brin's arm back in. Zaria hits corner spears and backbreakers Brin. Brin rolls her up and hits forearms. Brin forward rolling cartwheels but is caught with a german. Zaria spears her. Zaria then hits an F-5 and wins.
Thoughts: It was fine. It was a quick squash and they put Zaria over well. She has a unique look and we'll have to see what she can do in regular matches.
Fatal Influence comes out through the crowd. Fallon says she stole their moment on Sunday and they are repeating the favor. Fallon says you don't mess with Fatal Influence.
Roxanne Perez and Cora Jade then come out. Everyone surrounds Zaria. Kelani Jordan then comes out to help Zaria. Fallon says that's still only 2. Giulia and Stephanie Vaquer then come out. Perez says it's 4 on 5 and that works for them. Jordynne Grace then comes out. All 10 girls fight. The faces win the battle. Perez is then thrown out onto the other heels. After the break, a 5v5 tag match is announced with these girls.
Nikkita Lyons vs Kelani Jordan
KJ armdrags and armlocks her. Lyon armdrags and armlocks her. KJ dropkicks Lyons then cartwheel back elbows her in the corner. KJ low crossbodies Lyons. Both girls end up doing splits at the same time. KJ hits corner spears. KJ is caught coming off the 2nd rope then KJ is catapulted into the mat.
Lyons catapults KJ's neck int othe ropes and samoan drops her. Lyons throws her and does a million dollar dream variation. KJ hits a flying forearm. KJ heel kicks her. Lyons superkicks her. Adrianna Rizzo comes out. Lyons misses a vader bomb. KJ hits a split-legged moonsault and wins.
Thoughts: It wasn't a bad match with them being athletic. Lyons has changed her offense around and isn't doing a lot of the things she used to likely because of her injury. It was strongly implied Rizzo attacked Lyons last week.
Rizzo comes in after and attacks Lyons. Jordan initially stops her then throws Rizzo into a tope on Lyons. They then fight to the back and refs try to break it up.
Ethan Page is in the ring and is talking. He says he's not finished with the NXT Title. Ridge Holland then comes out. Ridge says everyone is sick and tired of Page. Ridge says he's going to take the title from Trick and Trick knows, so he asked Bubba Ray to help him. Ridge says Bubba came to his sense and rejected Trick's offer.
Bubba Ray Dudley then comes out. Bubba says it's time him and Ridge have a talk. He said he learned a lot about him in the last 48 hours and talks about him. He puts him over some. He says him coming back quick after injury is respectable, but that's where the respect stops.
Bubba asks if Ridge knows who he is. He says he has had more titles than he had title opporunities. Page gets in the way and Bubba says Page deserves nothing. Bubba says the audience needs to see more of Ridge before he gets a title shot. Ridge says Bubba's not an active competitor and a radio host. He says he's a nostaliga act. He says he should go back to radio and says Dave LaGreca will have to look for a new cohost if he doesn't as he will be in the hospital. Bubba hits ridge then Page nails Bubba from behind. Bubba takes a 2v1. Trick Williams comes out to make the save.
Bubba asks Trick if he still wants a tag partner and they set up a match for next week.
Grace, Zaria, Giulia, Vaquer and Kelani talk in the back. They talk about who gets who. Rhea Ripley walks in. She said she wanted to see this team for herself. She says seeing them is going to be amazing and says to tear the roof off.
Jaida Parker talks about Lola Vice. She says Lola doesn't know what she's getting herself into. She says she will use any weapon she can get her hands on. She says she doesn't know Dawn Marie, but she will learn what Lola finds out if she gets in her way - Jaida Parker don't play.
Mr. Stone, Ava and Stevie Turner are watching the monitor in the back. Stone asks who will walk in next week as champs. Eddye Thorpe goes up to them then we see refs run. We see Raquel and Liv Morgan leave with baseball bats and Rhea is all bloodied outside of a car.
NXT Tag Titles - Axiom and Nathan Frazer (c) vs Cedric Alexander and Je'Von Evans
Ced waistlocks Ax. Ax up kicks him. Ced up kicks him back. Ced armdrags Ax then armdrags him. Ax armdrags him. Ced tries to leapfrog and is pulled down.
NF and Evans get in. NF flips over him then flying headscissors him. Evans flips through it and they stand off. Evans takes him down and pounds on him. Ced basement dropkicks NF. Ced chops NF in the corner. NF springboards and flying back elbows Evans.
NF doesn't tag in Ax when Ax wants and argue over it. Ax shoves him. Evans does a seated springboard and a dropkick on Ax. Ced tope con hilos Ax.
We go to break and return. Ced does a go to sleep style move on Ax. NF and Evans go at it. Evans corkscrew kicks him off the ropes then topes Ax into the commentary table. Evans springboard lariats NF for 2. Evans tries a corkscrew kick on Ax but is caught. Evans sends Ax into NF then superkicks NF, causing him to ddt Ax. AX hits a top rope dropkick on Evans while NF legsweeps Evans.
Evans powerbombs Ax. Ced then sitout powerbombs Ax for 2. Evans springboards down over NF then hits an os cutter onto Ax. Ax hits a headscissors canadian destroyer on Evans.
Ced chops up Ax. Ax hits a top rope spanish fly on Ced then NF hits a phoenix splash n Ced for 2. Evans breaks it up by jumping off of NF and hitting a cutter on Ax. Wes Lee comes out with a chair. Evans topes him and hits punches on him. They fight to the back. Ced lumbar checks Ax then michinoku drivers NF. NF walks up the buckles and superplexes Ced. Ced takes a brainbuster + superkick combo and is pinned.
Thoughts: It was average in the first half but picked up some in the 2nd half. It's a shame Evans left and we didn't get to see this play out more. It was a high flying match as you would expect with fast paced action. Evans and NF wasn't too shocking and they continued to push the issues between the two. I liked this one overall.
We go to the back .Wes and Evans are fighting and ref/s security break it up. Ava yells at them and RVD walks in. RVD says he has a fantastic idea. He says he knows what he wants to do next week and will see them in Philly. Wes hits Evans and the fight continues.
Overall thoughts: It was a good episode of NXT. We had some guest appearances. Tatum/Choo was probably the best match in both girls careers so far and was something unique. The main was okay, Zaria had a good debut and we built up a 5v5 women's match for next week. NXT was really cooking here with tons of stuff going on. I liked this one and would recommend it. I'd easily give it a 9 out of 10.
