The Acclaimed get jumped before the bell. Max is sent into the rails. Jay and Bowens fight on the ramp. Jay figure fours Bowens on the ramp then they roll down it together. Max hits punches on Jeff then Max gets sent into the post.

Billy Gunn then lariats Jay over the top. Satnam Singh beats up Max outside and sends him into the steps. Bowens does an over the back fameasser on Jeff but there's no ref to count the pin.

Thoughts: The logic wasn't good early on as they were making tags when there were no rules and no need to do as such. There was a ton of shenanigans here with tons of different people getting involved. There was no lack of action on this one and it was a wild affair, but the early logic lapses hurt this one.

Powerhouse Hobbs has his book with him. He says The Book of Hobbs is sacred to him. He says everything has happened to him is in this book. He says everything that has happened to him will happen to you.

Ortiz and Eddie Kingston talk. Ortiz says House of Black speaks in riddles. He asks Eddie why they keep talking about Eddie and not him. Eddie says him and Ortiz will beat House of Black in a match on Rampage and Eddie says to question him then.

AEW TBS Title Match - Jade Cargill (c) vs. Skye Blue

Jade holds her title up in Skye's face. Skye hits forearms. Jade blocks an armdrag. Jade takes a crucifix then a sunset flip. Skye sends her into the corner then is knocked off the apron. Jade boots her around outside and chokeslams her on the ramp. Red Velvet comes out.

Skye beats the count in and has her head banged off the buckles. We go to PiP break then full break. Skye botches a satellite headscissors on Jade. Skye step up knees her then swing kicks her from the mat. Jade hits a stiff pump kick. Red Velvet comes down to ringside. Leila Grey grabs her and gets slapped for it. Jade goes for jade end but is rolled up for 2. Skye superkicks her then hits a code blue for 2.

Skye springboards on Jade but is caught. Jade does a nice job turning her around in mid-air then hits a jade end for the win.

Thoughts: I didn't like the chokeslam on the ramp but I was okay with it otherwise. It had a good finish and both did what they were supposed to do here.

Stokeley Hathaway, Big Bill and Lee Johnson are interviewed by Lexy. Stoke says Jungle Boy is a few fries short of a happy meal. He says LA is where entertainers go to die and says they will but Jungle Boy in the dirt and see him at the crossroads there.

Tay Conti and Anna Jay talk trash with Willow and Ruby over video clips. Tay talks about fighting in favela's in Brazil. Anna says she choked The bunny out with barbed wire. They say if Willow and Ruby want a street fight, they got it.

OC gets knocked off the apron and Kip seated moonsaults him outside. Penelope Ford and The Bunny then hug Kip. Danhausen cruses Kip. Kip bites Dan's finger then OC topes Kip. OC top rope crossbodies Kip then hits a stunner out of the suplex. OC then is caught on a tope outside and Kip hits a magic screw on the floor.

We go to PiP break and return. Kip sentons OC in the corner. They fight on the buckles. OC superplexes him. The Bunny grabs OC's foot. The ref throws The Bunny out. OC and Kip bang heads and both go down. The Butcher and The Blade come out and fight with Danhausen. Butcher and Blade sit down in seats outside. Kip and Oc trade forearms.

Kip then mocks OC with weak chops and kicks. OC then fires on him with a forearm flurry. Kip headbutts OC and pop-up knees him. Kip knees OC in the face for 2. Kip then ki krushers OC for 2. Oc is thrown out. Butcher and Blade attack him but Best Friends save OC. Trent chairs Butcher. OC comes off the top but is caught wit ha magic screw by Kip for 2.

Kip hits his own orange punch on OC. OC fires up and no sells it. OC satellite ddt's him then PK's him. Oc hits a beachbreak for 2. OC stomps on Kip in the corner and throws the ref down. Kip backrolls OC for 2 then OC wins it with 2 orange punches.

Thoughts: There was a lot of shenanigans here with 5 different people doing things outside. The match really wasn't that bad. It made sense and OC didn't do his usual comedy that brings down matches. It wasn't a classic but was far more tolerable than expected. They also actually showed some aggression here.

Overall thoughts: It was an easy hour of wrestling to get through. It had the usual BOTB issues with no big title matches or big stars on the show but what we got was fine. The opener had some logic issues that could have been avoided but it was full of happenings. The women's match wasn't bad and the main was fine. I would give this a 6 or 7 out of 10.

Trent hits a bunch of forearms inside and basement dropkicks him out. Trent spears him on the floor outside then running knees him in the back of the head inside. Pac superkicks him outside and grabs a table. Trent knees him and puts him on the table. Pac then gets off of it before he is put through it. Trent dropkicks him through the ropes.

Pac superplexes him. Pac foot chokes him. Trent double footpresses him down out of the corner. Trent germans him. Trent release suplexes him. Trent tornado ddt's him and Pac does a nice sell for it for 2. Pac's head is banged off the buckle then he is flipped with a lariat. Thoughts: They did too much here with people surviving suplexes through tables and top rope release suplexes.

Orange Cassidy comes out and pounds on Pac until security stops him.

Tony Schiavone interviews Chris Jericho, Matt Menard and Angelo Parker. They talk about Daniel Garcia. Menard says he understands there's times in a man's life when he wants to go at it alone. he says he had a piece of humble pie. Jade comes out with Leila Grey and Kiera Hogan. Jade and Willow lock up. Willow shoulders her and they butt heads. Jade boots her in the gut and clubs her back. Willow dropkicks her then suplexes her for 2. Jade is pushed out then Willow ends up hitting a tope on Hogan and Grey when Jade moves.

Willow is dropped face first on the steps. Jade suplexes her then kips up. Jade foot slaps and euros Willow. Jade side headlocks her. Jade chinlocks her then throws her by the neck. Willow's head is banged off the buckles and Jade throws her across the ring.

Jade does push-ups and Willow hits lariats. Willow flying headscissors her then hits a big chop. Willow corner cannonballs her then 2nd rope dropkicks her. Willow goes for a headscissors and is side slammed down. Jade hits a jade end and gets the win.

Thoughts: It was an okay match. I had no real issues with it. They both got some offense in and Willow got caught near the end and got pinned.

Vickie Guerrero comes out after and Jade gets her TBS Title stolen.

Lexy interviews Matt Hardy, Ethan Page and Stokeley Hathaway. Matt asks why they follow him around like shadows and stick their noises in his business. They talk about contract tampering. Stoke shows Jose the Assistant's ipad and we see a clip of Matt talking to Private Party. Stoke says that's contract tampering and accuses mat of lying. Matt says if they keep sticking their noses in his business, he will delete them off their faces.

Hook is interviewed and rips up an envelope that was given to him by The Trustbusters. He leaves without saying anything.

Toni Storm and Shida talk. They say it wa ssupposed to be them vs Britt Baker and Hayter but Britt took Shida out. Toni says Shida is back, out for blood and ready to get her. Shida says she always comes back stronger and says Britt will find out next week.

ROH World Tag Team Title Match - FTR (Cash Wheeler & Dax Harwood) (c) vs. Gates Of Agony (Bishop Kaun & Toa Liona)

The Gunn's are in the front row and are dressed like FTR though Colten has some weird black curly wig on. Dax and Kaun lock-up. Dax wristlocks him and shoulders him over. Kaun lariats him over on a blocked hiptoss. Kaun pounds on Dax. Dax hits shots in the corner. Dax slides between his legs then neckbreakers him. Toa takes double team punches out and Toa fires up.

Dax suplexes Kaun then drops Cash in a legdrop on him. Kaun hits a big lariat on Cash. Toa slams Cash then headbutt drops him. Toa uses a traphezus hold on Cash. Cash has his sunset flip blocked and Tora does a stiff butt drop on him. Cash takes a corner lariat and belly to belly suplex for 2.

Kaun's throat is pulled over the top rope. Toa throws Cash into the rails then spears the rails when Cash moves. Cash cradles Kaun. Kaun hits an air raid crash on him for 2. Cash is thrown out and Prince Nana stomps on him outside.

Toa pounds on Cash then chokes him on the ropes. Kaun front facelocks Cash. Kaun throws Cash off and front facelocks him again. Cash atomic drops him and Kaun hits corner spears. Cash fights off a double team. Cash flips out of a backdro pand tags Dax in. Dax hits punches on Kaun then Toa shoulders Dax over. Toa release samoan drops Dax for 2.

Kaun takes a spike piledriver for 2. Toa blocks a big rig and headbutts Dax. Toa takes a big rig. Kaun nails Cash with an elbow. Prince Nana gets on the apron. Dax gets distracted and sends Kaun into Nana. Dax backslides Kaun and pins him.

Thoughts:
The ending could have been a little better here as the crowd didn't really buy into it and the heels didn't quite take enough offense for me. It was fine otherwise but I didn't think it was the best match they could have had.

Brian Cage comes down to help The GoA beat up FTR. Wardlow comes out to help FTR. Samoa Joe comes out and beats up The GoA and Cage. Joe lariats Cage over the ropes onto the ramp. FTR then poses with Joe and Wardlow to close the show.

Overall thoughts:
I was fine with 2 of the 3 matches here so it was an okay show. It's nothing I would watch again or remember but it could have been worse and it could have maybe been better. It was very heavy wrestling oriented as all AEW shows tend to be. As usual, the show lacked any big title matches and big stars despite being a show dedicated to that. I'd probably give this one a 6 out of 10.

AEW Battle of the Belts III 8/6/2022

AEW Battle of the Belts III 8/6/2022

The last Battle of the Belts is here: https://prowresblog.blogspot.com/2024/10/aew-battle-of-belts-ii-4162022.html

AEW TNT Title Match - Wardlow (c) vs. Jay Lethal

Jay has Singh and Dutt with him. Jay stalls outside to start. Dutt distracts Ward on the apron then Jay hit sWard from behind. Jay suplexes Ward and Ward no sells it. Ward facekicks Jay then back body drops him. Ward lariats him over the top to the floor.

Ward goes after Dutt then Singh gets in his way. Jay dropkicks Ward through the ropes. Jay hits shots in the corner then bangs his head off the buckles. Jay step up enzugiri's him then Ward tilt-a-whirl slams him for 2. Jay hits two dropkicks and Jay holds his leg after. The ref repositions Ward and Jay rolls Ward up. Ward spears the post when Jay moves. Jay topes Ward outside.

Ward's leg is banged off the post. Jay stomps on Ward in the corner. Jay elbow drops Ward's leg and yanks on it hard. Jay jack knifes him and tries to do it again. Ward rolls him into a powerbomb but Jay gets out.

Jay hits kicks to the leg. Ward stops a lethal injection. Ward headbutts Jay then hits a big wind-up lariat. Ward hits a powerbomb and mounts him to pin him.

Thoughts: They should have used the jack knife roll into the powerbomb spot as the finish. It was a cool looking spot. This was fine Jay attacking the leg and Wardlow eventually fighting him off to win. I had no issues with it and it made sense.

Sonjay Dutt attacks Wardlow after. Singh joins in and stands on Wardlow's chest. Jay figure fours Wardlow while Singh stands on him.  Wardlow fights them off and kicks Singh in the nuts. Wardlow goes the powerbomb but gets back body dropped when Jay helps out. A table is brought in and Singh chokeslams Wardlow through it. The heels then pose on Wardlow.

AEW Women's World Title Match - Thunder Rosa (c) vs. Jamie Hayter

Britt Baker and Rebel are with Jamie. Toni Storm is with Rosa. Jamie nails Rosa as she poses on the ropes and hits mounted shots. Jamie boots her and foot chokes her. Jamie chokes Rosa on the ropes.

Rosa ddt's her on the floor. Rosa is on the buckles and Jamie knocks her down to the floor. Jamie uranages Rosa on the steps. Jamie double knees Rosa while she's against the ropes. Rosa hits shots to the gut then hits chops. Jamie chops her back. Jamie suplexes her then does a grounded sleeper.

Rebel chokes Rosa on the ropes and Britt puts a hat on Rosa. Toni Stomr then breaks it up as Jamie sleepers Rosa. We go to break and return. They trade forearms and Rosa northern lights suplexes her for 2. Rosa dropkicks Jamie through the ropes. Rosa cannonballs Jamie off the apron.

Rosa top rope crossbodies Jamie for 2. Jamie uranage backbreakers Rosa for 2 then Jamie brainbusters her for 2. Jamie hits forearms in the corner. Britt grabs Rosa then Toni fights with Britt to stop her. Britt superkicks Toni. Toni then jumps off the steps and tornado ddt's her. Rosa rolls up Jamie then rolls her up out of the casadora for the win.

Thoughts: I would have had Rosa get the pin on the first attempt on her comeback as it would have pushed the surprise win better. It was a decent match here. The heels cheated all the way through and Jamie's offense looked fine. Rosa then made a quick comeback and won.

ROH World Title Match - Claudio Castagnoli (c) vs. Konosuke Takeshita

Regal is on commentary for this. CC and KT shake hands. CC misses a charge then side headlocks him. CC grabs the ropes and they stand off. CC takes him down and grabs the leg. CC side headlocks him. CC takes him down by the wrist and face.

CC tries to ridge him down with the double knuckle lock but Kt bridges. KT monkey flips him off of it then CC monkey flips him. CC trips him then KT hooks the leg. KT hiptosses him and front facelocks him. CC side headlock takeovers him.

CC running facekicks KT then backbreakers him. CC pulls the arms back. CC hits shots in the corner. KT 2nd rope diving headscissors him. KT forearms him over then flying forearms him.

KT pulls CC over the top rope then tope con hilos him. CC 2nd rope gutwrench suplexes him for 2. CC giant swings him. CC running euros him in the corners. KT running facekicks him then hits a blue thunder for 2. CC knocks KT to the apron.

CC's head is banged off the buckles. KT turnbuckle ddt's CC then top rope frogsplashes him for 2. KT goes for a flying clothesline and takes a euro in mid-air. CC sharpshooters KT. CC switches to a crossface then KT rolls him up. CC hits some footslaps then KT germans him. CC no sells it and lariats CC. KT pops back up and germans then lariats him.

KT hits forearms and takes a euro. CC pops him up then KT backslides him. KT running knees then brainbusters him for 2. KT spinning forearms him then sunset flips him. CC euros and double stomps him. CC goes for a ricola bomb and KT hurricanrana's him for 2.

KT flies at him and takes a death valley driver. KT hits forearms then CC 2nd rope twisting euros him. CC lariats him over then hits downward elbows. CC ricola bombs him and wins.

Thoughts: CC worked the back for a while early then it went on for 10 more minutes or so with no more back work.  You could maybe claim the ricola bomb followed up on the backwork but more focus on it would have helped this out. KT did a good job as the face here getting sympathy but CC didn't really lean into the heel work. I liked the first half of this a lot more than the 2nd half and thought it went a little longer than needed. All things considered, I would say it's good, but this had potential to maybe be great.

Overall thoughts: We only had 3 matches here. All of the matches were fine with the main being a long but mostly good affair. It was a good shot. I liked this show.

AEW Battle of the Belts II 4/16/2022

AEW Battle of the Belts II 4/16/2022

The last Battle of the Belts is here: https://prowre sblog.blogspot.com/2022/01/aew-battle-of-belts-182022.html

AEW TNT Title Match - Scorpio Sky (c) vs. Sammy Guevara

Sky has Dan Lambert with him and SG has Tay with him. SG rushes Sky and pounds on him. Sky slams him down and hits mounted punches. Sky pounds on Sammy in the corner and hits corner punches. Sky then bites his head. SG throws him in the corner and then bites him in the head.

SG backdrops him then hits mounted punches. SG is caught on a leapfrog and they trade chops. SG lariats him over and flips over him. SG then hits a corkscrew dropkick. SG goes out and yells at Dan Lambert then hits sky from behind.

Sky is sent into the rails. SG is dropped throat first on the rails. Sky slams him on the floor. SG moonsaults him off the steps. Sky hits a TKO on the apron. SG's feet get stuck on the top rope during it and he takes a hard fall down. SG is thrown into the steps.

Sky hits knees to the body and then punches. Sky backbreakers him three times then stretches him over the knee. SG flips out and hits a step up enzugiri. SG knocks him over and hits a standing spanish fly for 2.

Sky goes up and over then takes a mule kick from the 2nd rope. Ethan Page comes out and pulls Sky out of the ring. Tay argues with Page. SG then top rope ssp's Sky and Page outside.

Sky cradles SG for 2. SG enzugiri's him out of the corner then slips on a double jump cutter. Dan Lambert gets on the apron. SG rolls up Sky with help from Tay. Lambert and Page call down Paige Van Zant. Zant and Tay fight on the floor. Sky eye pokes SG. SG low blows Sky then hits a GTH and wins.

Thoughts:
This was a rare title change on BOTB. Sammy cheating to win wasn't exactly a great face move. This had a lot of shenanigans going on. Page got his face all bloodied up here, likely from the Sammy top rope SSP outside. The match was fine overall.

Jonathan Gresham does a promo. He said Dalton Castle want a to dethrone him. He says some people want to be champ but he needs to be champ. Dalton says JG is a goof in his engine trying to send him down. He says he will land this thing in the river.

Thoughts: I have no idea what Dalton was talking about here. He seemed to be referencing some recent event with someone landing a plane in the river.

ROH World Title Match - Jonathan Gresham (c) vs. Dalton Castle

They lock up. JG wristlocks him and DC ropebreaks. JD side headlock takeovers him and DC goes out to stall. The Boys fan DC off. DC takes him down then rolls him on the mat. DC gutwrenches him and suplexes him on it.

DC back elbows him then lariats him. JG goes up and over in the corner. DC facekicks him. JG cartwheels over him then uses the ropes to do a headscissors on him. JG shin kicks him then dropkicks him.

JG kicks him in the arm then armdrags him. JG takes him down by the wrist. DC wiastlocks him then JG hammerlock takedowns him. JG headscissors him. JG hammerlocks him then trips him. JG hammerlocks the arm with his leg. JG ties up both arms and DC ropebreaks.

We cut ahead as the PiP break ends. DC is outside. JG goes after him. DC 619's under the bottom rope into a headscissors outside. They duck each others shots in a silly spot that became a meme. DC overhead suplexes him.  then does a backdrop.

DC lifts him and hits another overhead suplex for 2. DC waistlocks him on the mat. JG boots him in the corner and is caught coming off the buckles. DC goes for a bangarang and they end up trading pin attempts. DC facekicks him. JG enzugiri's him then DC hits a lariat.

JG puts DC in an octopus and submits him.

Thoughts: It was fine with JG doing his technical wrestling and DC throwing him around some. DC was kind of the heels here though not by much.

They shake hands and Jay Lethal's crew comes out minus Jarrett. Satnam Singh double chokeslams The Boys then sends DC into the steps. Jay Lethal then hits a lethal injection on JG. Singh grabs JG by the throat and bangs him off the apron. Lee Moriarty and Matt Sydal come out to help, though Matt is on crutches. Singh pop-up drops Lee. Matt hits Singh with a crutch and Singh breaks the crutch over his knee. Matt takes a 3v1 and Singh goes for a powerbomb. Samoa Joe then comes out with a pipe. The heels leave before they get hit.

I won't be covering the main event with Thunder Rosa defending the women's title. She won the match though.

Overall thoughts: I saw 2 of the 3 matches here. The opener had some shenanigans and it was acceptable enough. Oddly, Ethan Page got busted open despite not even being in the match. Dalton vs Gresham was fine with no real issues then both got beaten up after by Jay Lethal's crew. What I was was okay but nothing you really need to see.

AEW Battle of the Belts XII 10/19/2024

AEW Battle of the Belts XII 10/19/2024

This started on Collision and bled over.

The Order come out to save the faces as the beat down continues. CC takes a chair shot from Silver. Yuta chairs Silver in the gut then CC chairs Silver in the back. Mox gets on the mic and says they will put the trios titles on the line right now and calls for the ref.

AEW Trios Titles - Blackpool Combat Club (Claudio Castagnoli, Pac and Wheeler Yuta) (c) vs The Dark Order (John Silver, Evil Uno and Alex Reynolds)

The match starts with The Order not even all in the ring. Silver is stomped and chopped on in opposite corners. Pac backdrops Silver. CC slams Silver multiple times. CC rocket launchers Yuta and Uno breaks up the count.

Uno is thrown over the rails. Pac spin kicks Silver. Silver lariats him. Alex is tagged in. He hits shots on the heels. CC forearms him over then gorilla press gutbusters him. CC sharpshooters Alex. Pac top rope double stomps Alex's back and Alex taps out to the sharpshooter.

Thoughts: This was dumb and should have never started as The Order weren't even ready. It was all squash here and a slow waste of time.

Silver is held for kicks from Pac. Uno slaps Mox and gets choked. Shafir bangs a suitcase on Silver's wrist while it's on the steps. Private Party, Orange Cassidy and Garcia come down and The BCC back off.

AEW Continental Title - Kazuchika Okada (c) vs Kyle O'Reilly

Kyle wristlocks Okada. Okada rolls through it and wristlocks him back. Kyle waistlocks him. Okada trips him and side headlocks him. Kyle takes him down by the arm. Okada teases punching him on the ropes but lets him go. Kyle legsweeps him and hits mounted palm strikes. Kyle goes for a leg and armbar combo. Kyle ankle locks him.

We go to PiP break and return. Kyle hits some shots and takes some back. Okada slams him and misses a slingshot swanton. Kyle knees him in the gut. Kyle hits a strike combo and legsweeps him. Kyle running forearms him in the corner and armbreakers him. Kyle hammerlock ddt's him.

Kyle dragon screws him over the middle rope. Kyle 2nd rope diving knees Okada on the apron. Kyle top rope knee drops Okada's leg then leglocks him. Kyle does a heel hook and Okada eye rakes him. Kyle hits leg kicks. Okada over the back neckbreakers him on the knee.

We go to PiP break then full break and return.Okada basement dropkicks him. 15 minutes have gone by and 5 minutes remain. Kyle guillotine chokes him. Kyle knees him in the chest and ankle locks him off a tombstone attempt. Okada ropebreaks.

Okada wastes time outside then ddt's Kyle on the floor. Okada slams him then top rope elbow drops him. Okada hits a big lariat. Okada dropkicks him then landslides him. Okada rainmakers him and wins.

Thoughts:
I was surprised it didn't go the time limit as it was close to doing so. it was a slow paced match with Kyle doing a lot of knees to the gut and leg kicks. Okada didn't do the greatest selling of it. It wasn't the most exciting match and it wasn't anything too special.

Anna Jay does a video and says she doesn't like Mariah May. She says she's shady and she's the one that can beat her. She says if she beats her tonight, she gets to do it all over again for the title.

LFI do a promo. Rush says that's what happens when you mess with LFI. Rush says they will destroy every single wrestler and faction in the company. We then see Mortos trying to rip off Hologram's mask. LFI then push on Holo as they say if you mess with the bull, you get the horns.

Lance Archer and Brian Cage vs Jack Cartwheel and Jon Cruz

Jack has some spray tan stuff on and looks like he took a bath in honey. Cage shoulders Jack over then is knocked over. Jack is popped up, goes down then is superkicked. Cage poses then throws Jack. Cage forces Cruz to tag in and throws him in. Cage hits corner attacks on Cruz. Cruz sits on the top rope and Archer hits a hard lariat to knock him over.

Archer release suplexes Cruz. Jack and Cage get in. Jack cartwheels then takes a hard lariat. Jack takes a powerbomb + chokeslam combo. Cruz takes a blackout + powerbomb combo and is pinned.

Thoughts: It was a great squash here with Cage and Lance beating the crap out of the jobbers. Oh man did they ever take a whooping here. Sign me up for the Cage and Lance team.

The Undisputed Kingdom and Mortos talk in the back. Mike gives Mort meat. Strong says something is off with him. They say he beat up Holo and is wearing a polo shirt which isn't cool. Strong says it makes them mad that he's doing it without them. Strong says they aren't mad, just disappointed.

AEW Women's Title Eliminator - Mariah May vs Anna Jay

They lock up and trade wristlocks. Anna side headlock takeovers her. May does the same to her. Anna headscissors her then hammerlocks him. Anna rolls out of a wristlock then bangs May's arm off the mat. Anna yanks the arm and throws her down by it.

May throws her down and basement dropkicks her. Anna shoulders her over and hits knees to the gut. Anna spinning heel kicks her in the corner. May hits mounted forearms on Anna.
May hair throws her. May hits chest slaps then spinning side slams her. We go to PiP break and return. They trade forearms. May misses a corner charge. Anna hits forearms and chops. Anna running forearms her and hair throws her.

Anna iconoclasms her and basement dropkicks her for 2. Anna backdrops her for 2. Anna chokes her. May bites the arm and backdrops her. May gemrans her for 2. May bridging ddts her for 2.

Anna takes a handstand headscissors on the ropes. May running knees her and Anna jacknife pins her for 2. Anna  is rolled up off the gori bomb for 2. May headbutts her. Anna rolls her up with a crucifix and wins.

Thoughts:
Anna winning was a shock. Nobody ever wins eliminator matches. It got a lot of time and was about average. They hit their moves mostly clean but there was no real logic to this or anything. It also could have used a faster pace.

Overall thoughts: There were four matches here and despite being a show dedicated to belts, there were only two title matches here. As usual, the AEW World Champ was nowhere to be seen and there were no big matches on this one. The opening segment/match was dumb. I loved the Cage and Archer squash. Okada/Kyle and May/Anna were both about average. I wouldn't recommend this one and thought it was an average show.

AEW Battle of the Belts XI 7/27/2024

AEW Battle of the Belts XI 7/27/2024

The last Battle of the Belts is here: https://prowresblog.blogspot.com/2024/04/aew-battle-of-belts-x-4132024.html

AEW Women's Title Eliminator Match - Toni Storm  vs Taya Valkyrie

Taya throws her glasses at Toni. Toni has her hair back and has different makeup on. She puts on Taya's sunglasses. She thesz presses her and hits mounted punches. Toni suplexes her then hair throws her with the glasses on. Toni hip attacks her off the apron.

Toni is tripped into the steps with the glasses on then is meteora'd against the steps. Toni still has the glasses on and Taya chops her. Taya is thrown into the rails. Taya has Toni on her shoulders and drops her face first onto the apron.

We go to PiP break and return. Taya half crabs her. Toni backcrackers her on the ropes then fisherman suplexes her for 2. Toni hip attacks her then ddt's her. Taya hits a chop flurry on her. Taya sliding germans her. Taya hits a weak spear then hits a jade end for 2.

Taay is on her back and pulls on her chin. Toni hits storm zero and wins.

Thoughts: I didn't like Toni wrestling with the sunglasses on. That shouldn't be allowed. It was just a match and wasn't anything too special.

Toni gets on the mic after. She says this tramp is still the champ. She says Mariah May was perfect and all her dreams to come to life. She says May "was a better me than I was". She said she made a mistake though and said when she had her on her knees, she should have cut her head off.

Kip Sabian is interviewed. He says he lost his father and says the last four months have been a rollercoaster. He said it made him realize about doing his family proud. He said what's important to him is being the best wrestler in this company. He said Nick Wayne had a good showing in Royal Rampage, but he eliminated him. He says Nick knows where to find him. Kip says he's back and better than ever.

CMLL World Women's Title Eliminator Match - Willow Nightingale vs. Deonna Purrazzo

Willow wristlocks her. Willow throws her down. DP back elbows her then pins her down for 2 counts. Willow slams her and shoulders her over. DP is caught on a flying headscissors and dropped down on her shoulder. Willow low crossbodies her for 2. Willow misses a corner charge. We go to PiP break and return.

Willow hits lariats then corner hip attacks her. Willow superkicks her then spinebusters her for 2. Willow suplexes her. Willow gets crotched up top then falls down backwards. Willow death valley drivers her for 2. Willow superplexes her. DP holds on and forearms her.

They trade forearms. Willow hits a big lariat. Taya Valkyrie comes out. She has a turnbuckle connector and DP tries to get it. Thunder Rosa comes down and goes after Taya. WIllow pounces DP then hits a doctor bomb to win.

Thoughts: They had two dangerous moments here with both taking unplanned falls. It's hard to put this one since it was so sloppy and had a dirty finish.

ROH World Six Man Tag Team Title Match - Dustin Rhodes & The Von Erichs (Marshall von Erich & Ross von Erich) vs. The Undisputed Kingdom (Matt Taven, Mike Bennett & Roderick Strong)

Kevin Von Erich is with his sons. Paul Wight is on commentary but is having audio issues. Strong and Ross start us off. Strong wristlocks him. Ross kips up and dropkicks him. Marshall hits a dropkick on Strong.

Mike hits chops on Marhsall then Marshall hiptosses him. Marshall hiptosses Taven. Dustin lariats Taven. Taven takes a corner attacks then Marshall standing moonsaults him for 2. Taven dropkicks Marshall then Marshall hits more dropkicks. The faces hit a triple attack and we go to PiP break.

We return and Mike forearms Ross. Taven suplexes Ross for 2. Taven chinlocks Ross. Ross slingblades Strong when Strong gets in. Dustin gets the tag in and he hits shots on Mike. He powerslams Strong and mike. Taven springboards and is hit in the crotch. Dustin bulldogs Taven. Dustin canadian destroyers Mike. Dustin hits cross rhodes and a piledriver for 2.

Ross is thrown into the post. Mike spinebusters Dustin. Dustin backrolls Mike. Taven springboard enzugiri's Mike. Strong flying kicks Dustin. Taven is thrown into the rails outside and superkicks Ross. Marshall is thrown into the post. The heels bring the title belts into the ring and Mike hits Dustin with a cowbell for 2.

Katsuyori Shibata comes down and puts the claw on Taven. Kevin Von Erich claws Strong. Marshall spinning lariats Mike. Dustin twister brainbusters Mike and wins.

Thoughts: Shibata coming down was random. The match was okay but it didn't have the greatest finishing stretch. Marshall looked good as usual here and it was fast paced with a lot of action. As a fan, I liked seeing The Von Erich's win. But booking wise, it was random. The VE's haven't been around for a while outside of the last week and unless things have changed, they usually are only around temporarily. I'm not sure why this was done on here instead of the ROH PPV which was night before, but at least we got an actual title change on Battle of the Belts.

Overall thoughts: We only had three matches here. The first two weren't that good and The Von Erich's got the win in an upset in the main. We did get a rare title change on Battle of the Belts which is appreciated as this show has had a reputation for having nothing happen. It would have been nice to get a world title match on here though. I wouldn't recommend this one and it was just average.

AEW Battle of the Belts X 4/13/2024

AEW Battle of the Belts X 4/13/2024

The last Battle of the Belts is here: https://prowresblog.blogspot.com/2024/01/aew-1132024-battle-of-belts-ix.html

Lexi Nair interviews Hook and Katsuyori Shibata. Shibata talks via his translator and says he will have Hook's back. Hook says he has to do this on his own tonight.

FTW Title - Hook (c) vs Shane Taylor

Shane misses a shot and takes a punch and forearm combo. Shane is pulled over the top then Hook bangs Shane's head off the rail and steps. Shane sits in a chair and Hook hits forearms. Hook hits knees then takes some punches. Shane hits big chops.

Hook hits punches to the body then Shane punches him in the gut. Shane drops him gut first on the top rope and we go to PiP break. Shane legdrops him on the apron as we return.

Shane hits more shots to the body and punches him. Shane hits more shots, knocking him down in the corner. Shane misses a corner splash and Hook starts hitting some forearms. Hook running lariats him then germans him. Hook exploders him for 2. Shane corner uranges Hook then 2nd rope splashes him for 2.

Hook puts redrum on him then Shane falls back and gets him to drop it. Hook then puts it on again and makes him pass out to win it.

I thought they should have ended it before the corner uranage but I liked what they did here. Shane stuck with the punches here then Hook made his comeback and won it. Not great, but a solid match here with some good shots thrown.

Rocky Romero is interviewed by Lexi. He says Best Friends are his best friends. He said he doesn't know what's going on and can't focus on it. He said he will be one step closer to becoming the AEW International champ when he beats Strong. Kyle O'Reilly comes in and says good luck.

AEW International Title Eliminator - Roderick Strong vs Rocky Romero

Strong throws his shirt at Rocky. Rocky reverses a wristlock then side headlock takeovers him. Rocky arm wringers him then Strong hits chops. Rocky flying headscissors him then does a single kneepress off the buckles.

Rocky chops him then stomps and foot chokes him in the corner. Rocky snapmares him and basement dropkicks him. Rocky PK's him from the apron then double stomps him on the floor off the apron. We go to break and return.

Strong pulls both of Rocky's arms back. Rocky hits spin kicks then rewind kicks him. Rocky topes Taven and Strong outside then he hits sliced bread on Strong for 2. Rocky hits corner clotheslines and Strong chops him. Strong flying kicks him for 2.

Rocky hurricanrana's him from the fireman's carry and ddt's him. Rocky hits a shiranui off the buckles for 2. Rocky comes off the top and takes a jumping knee. Strong then pins him.

This went over 10 minutes, so Rocky earned his title shot, right? It was an average match with the heels cheating some and them going pretty even with each other.

Kyle O'Reilly helps up Rocky after. Wardlow running lariats Rocky. Kyle asks Kingdom what's going on then Strong jumping knees Kyle. He tells him he made the wrong decision.

Lexi Nair interviews Serena Deeb. She said she watched a great wrestler in Yuka Sakazaki and said she wants to get in the ring with her. She said she hasn't gotten her title opportunity and is undefeated since she returned. She said week by week she is climbing the rankings. She said consider last week an invitation to Deeb's Dojo. She said Yuka can show her how good she is and Deeb said she can show her that she's better.

ROH Women's Title - Athena vs Red Velvet

If you want to know how Red earned this shot, I got nothing for you. Queen Aminata just beat her and Billie beat Queen, so Billie should be getting this shot instead.

They lock up and roll on the mat. Athena forward cartwheels out of a wristlock. Red kips up out of a wristlock then side headlocks her. Red shoulders her over and Athena kips up. Red headscissors her and Athena lands on her feet.

Red hits armdrags then taunts Athena after Athena taunted her. Red armdrags her then leg lariats her. Red moonsaults her off the apron. Red is dropped face first on the top rope from the apron then takes a backdrop on the apron.

We go to PiP break and full break then return. Red hits lariats on Athena then headscissors her into the ropes. Red double knees her on the ropes then reverse ddt's her for 2.

Red is pulled into the buckles then Athena hits wasteland on her twice. Red hurricanrana's her then Athena does a wheelbarrow into a spinebuster for 2. Athena goes up top and Red high kicks her. Red rolls her off the buckles into a bomb.

Red spin kicks her in the face then ddt's her right on her head. Red jumps off the buckles onto her outside, gets caught then Athena slams her on the floor. Athena grabs her by the hair and throws her into the LED board ring skirt. Red rolls her up for 2 then superkicks her. Athena forearms her then hits a diving cutter off the top and wins it.

It was a pretty good effort by both girls. Their stuff looked good here and they stiffed each other good. It wasn't always the cleanest at the times but I thought it was a solid main event. I thought this was a real good showing for Red who has improved.

Billie grabs Red by the hair after. Athena does Red's stirring taunt at her. Red slams her then Red takes a 2v1. Queen Aminata then comes out to help Red. She forearms Athena and headbutts Billie. Queen hits a running air raid crash on Athena.

Overall thoughts: There were only 3 matches here. None of them were bad and they all got enough time. In particular, the main was good and the opener was good too. As usual, it was a really weak line-up with no AEW titles even on the line here and one of the matches not even being a title match. I don't know why they do this when they have so many titles and champs. The show was good overall but not must see.

AEW 1/13/2024 Battle of the Belts IX

AEW 1/13/2024 Battle of the Belts IX

AEW Tag Titles - Street Fight - Big Bill and Ricky Starks (c) vs Chris Jericho and Sammy Guevara

The show starts off with this in progress. All are outside of the building fighting. Bill is thrown into a production truck and Jericho throws a road block at Bill. Starks is sent into a truck. Jericho throws a trash can lid at Starks and kicks it at him. Jericho then hits him with a trash can. Jericho is sent into the truck then he is hit with a roadblock and a trash can lid. Jericho is chokeslammed into a bunch of leaves in a garden.

Car lights turn on behind Bill and Starks and it's Sammy hitting them with a golf cart. Sammy and golf carts have a long history. with him having an incident with one in a Stadium Stampede match. Sammy hits Bill with a sign then sends him into the truck.

Sammy and Jericho end up on the sidewalk and Bill nails Sammy with a bookbag filled with bricks. Bill throws a brick at Sammy, which ends up going through a car window. Sammy pounds on him and Bill's head is banged off a car.  Bill is suplexed on a car windshield and Rhett Titus comes out, saying that's his car. Jericho hits a judas effect on him.

Starks is sent into a port-a-potty and a wall. Jericho and Starks head back into the building. Starks is hit with a caution sign then thrown into a hamper on wheels. Jericho pushes it into boxes with Starks in it. Starks chokes him with a blanket and pounds on him. Stakrs sticks a plunger in Jericho's face then hits him with a Christmas snowman.

Jericho hits him with a vaccum/mop then Jericho is sent into a rollaway garage door. Jericho sticks Starks' head in a copier and prints out a photo. Jericho puts a traffic cone on his head like he had done before and hits Starks with it. Sammy and Bill re-join the fight in the hallway. Jericho hits Starks with a drink then Jericho is thrown into a table.

Jericho hits Starks with a catering tray as we go to PiP break. Jericho claps him with it. Bill chokes Sammy with a sheet. Bill throws Sammy into a wall, Sammy flips off of it and superkicks him. Sammy sprays Bill and Starks with a fire extinguisher. Starks is sent into a wall and Jericho hits Bill with the fire extinguisher. Sammy is sent into the wall then Jericho sprays Bill with mustard.

They finally get into the stands where fans are. Jericho hits Bill with a kendo stick and a table. Jericho and Bill fight on top of a platform. Jericho nut shots him there. Konosuke Takeshita appears and kendo stick shots Jericho. Bill then powerbombs Jericho through two tables near the platform.

Sammy climbs a lighting rig. He jumps off of it, goes through crash pads and comes nowhere close to hitting Starks, though Hobbs did pull Starks somewhat out of the way. Starks then pins Sammy to win it.

The finish could have been done a little cleaner, but nobody died and that's most important. I really liked that this started off outside. That's where a street fight should happen. Jericho did his usual comedy bits that he does in these matches which hurt some of the seriousness and brutality of it. I liked Hobbs and Takeshita getting involved here as it furthers the Jericho/Sammy vs Don Callis Family issues and they were able to help explain some of the big spots. It was an entertaining match with a little bit of everything, but I wish Jericho would have treated it more seriously.

We get a video on Serena Deeb. She said the last 12 months have been hard but she's happy for all the lessons she learned. She said she's back to prove that she if the best's women's wrestler in the world and needs to capture gold. She said she is ready to return.

AEW TBS Title - Julia Hart (c) vs Anna Jay

Anna bangs Julia's head off the mat then forearms her down. Anna snapmares her then running headhunters her while she is seated. Hart running back elbows her and foot chokes her. Hart forward cartwheels but is dropped onto the top buckle. Jay spinning heel kicks her in the corner.

Anna's shoulder is pulled into the rope connector then she is thrown into the rails. We go to PiP break and return. Hart works the arm during the break, putting it between the steps and post and suplexing her. They shove each other and Hart is armwhipped down. Anna side kicks her then backcrackers her. Hart throws her down for 2. Anna puts her in a sleeper, Hart rolls back and puts her in a grounded sleeper. Anna flatliners her for 2.

Anna misses a side kick and is taken down. Hart puts her in heartless and wins via submission.

There was some arm work here but it wasn't that good and it had a slower pace to it. The majority of the armwork happened during the break when most people probably didn't see it.

Jay Lethal's crew argues in the back. Jeff and Jay can't get it together and Dutt is frustrated. Karen said they don't have a group photo or a team name for merch. Dutt says Jay only works here because of him. Jeff says Jay needs to get out so they can get on their winning ways. Satnam Singh walks in with snacks. He said his mom made it for Jay. Singh puts it in Jay's mouth, it gets all over his face and Jay isn't pleased. Singh said, "you didn't like it?".

AEW International Title - Orange Cassidy (c) vs Preston Vance

Strong, Taven and Bennett of The Undisputed Kingdom come down to watch this in chairs at ringside. They came in on Vance's interview on Collision earlier.

Vance spinning lariats him to start. OC goes out, is thrown back in then hits an orange punch on Vance. Vance boots OC in the corner then is hit. Vance 2nd rope shoulderblocks him then wheelbarrow germans him. Vance pump kicks him. OC rolls out in front of The Undisputed Kingdom. Vance suplexes OC for 2.

We go to a 4 minute PiP break. OC puts his hands in his pockets to break a full nelson then dropkicks him with his hands in the pockets. OC topes him then takes a spinebuster. Vance stomps on him in the corner. OC hits weak chops in the corner then stomps him. Vance does a ripcord cutter then OC hits his stunner out of the suplex. OC wraparound ddt's him.

Vance rolls out then OC 2nd rope crossbodies him. OC is caught and fallaway slammed into The Undisputed Kingdom. Vance and Strong have words. OC rolls up Vance then Vance full nelsons him. OC gets out then hits an orange punch. OC hits a beach break and wins it.

I didn't like this one as usual. It's a big title match with a title and money on the line and OC was goofing around. It was pretty much the same usual match from OC.

The Undisputed Kingdom and Jose get in the ring after. Strong jumping knees Jose and Vance is thrown out. The Undisputed Kingdom opt not to beat up OC for unknown reasons and the show ends.

Overall thoughts: Only 3 matches here. The opener was a good street fight. The women's match wasn't anything too good and the most important parts of it took place during the break. The main was the usual OC shenanigans and match. I wouldn't recommend it though the street fight was a full-length match with them going all out for it and might be worth seeing.

AEW 10/21/2023 Battle of the Belts VIII

AEW 10/21/2023 Battle of the Belts VIII

AEW International Title - Orange Cassidy vs John Silver

OC shoulder bumps Mox as he is leaving and he is pushed for it. Silver puts his hands in OC's pockets. OC headbutts him then topes Alex Reynolds outside. Silver throws OC across the ring. OC bangs Silver's head off the buckles. Silver delay superplexes OC off the 2nd rope.

Silver one-armed gorilla presses OC onto the apron then throws him on the floor. We go to PiP break and return. OC dropkicks Silver with his hands in his pockets. Silver kicks him on the ropes then OC michinoku drivers him for 2.

OC hits a stunner on Silver and beach breaks him for 2. Alex distracts OC and hits him with the belt. OC then kicks out of a roll-up at 2. Silver lariats OC then spinning torture rack bombs him for 2. OC trips him and hits an orange punch to win.

This was dreadful as expected with them doing comedy, doing way too much and actually trying to treat John Silver like a strong man. OC got dropped on the apron, got hit with a title belt and took a spinning torture rack bomb but it was just not enough to put down the great Orange Cassidy. Horrible.

Lexi interviews Andrade El Idolo. CJ Perry walks in and said he could become the biggest, best and most handsome star in the world with enough guidance. Andrade doesn't get it and Lexi said she is interested in managing him. Andrade asks why and leaves after making a face.

Mark Sterling and Tony Nese are in the ring. Mark says Nese is a future television chamoion. Nese wants to do group training then Samoa Joe comes out.

ROH TV Title - Samoa Joe (c) vs Tony Nese

Nese is popped up and slammed down. Joe hits a punch flurry. Mark gets on the apron for a distraction the Nese pulls Joe's head down over the top rope. Nese goes for a moonsault and Joe just walks away. Joe hits a big lariat then a muscle buster for the win in this quick squash.

Joe looked good here.

Samoa Joe does a promo. He said he is bringing MJF the gift of foresight. He said he is coming for the AEW title. Joe said MJF can give him what he wants or be forced to give him what he wants.

TBS Title - Kris Statlander (c) vs Willow Nightingale

Kris grabs her arm and chin. Kris side headlocks her then Willow shoulders her over. Kris leapfrogs her and shoulders her over. Kris slingshot elbows her then moonsaults her off the apron. Kris is then sent into the post.

Willow throws her on the floor and cannonballs her. We go to PiP break and return. Willow throws her then hip attacks her in the corner. Willow hits some short lariats then Kris legsweeps her into a flip on her. Kris running knees her in the corner and does a bad blue thunder bomb for 2.

Willow hits a pounce then Kris ddt's her for 2. Willow hits a 2nd rope death valley driver. Willow cannonballs her for 2 then Kris pops right up. Kris powerbombs her then hits a 450.

I didn't like Kris just popping right up after a 2nd rope death valley driver here. The match had some of the usual slop but was better than expected.

Willow goes to shake Kris' hand after. Skye Blue comes down to stop her. Willow shakes her hand then Skye just stares at both of them.

Orange Cassidy is interviewed. He said John Silver kicks hard. He said Moxley got in his face along with the BCC. OC says if Claudio and Bryan want to start a fight, they can fight. He says he and Okada will fight them in Philadelphia. Why Okada over Chuck or Trent, I don't know.

AEW Trios Titles - The Acclaimed and Billy Gunn (c) vs Daniel Garcia, Matt Menard and Angelo Parker

The Memphis Grizzlies mascot came out with The Acclaimed. Billy said he has never scissored a bear before and they end up doing it.

Max and Garcia start us off. Garcia does a headlock takeover then goes to dance, but Menard stops him. anna Jay gets in the ring and is ejected. Menard nails Bowens from behind. They trade punches and Bowens wins that exchange. Bowens superkicks Parker.

Max double axe handles Menard's arm. We go to PiP break and return. Bowens' tag is nearly blocked but he makes the tag. Billy hits punches, clearing out all 3 of his opponents. Billy slams Menard. Menard takes a 2nd rope legdrop to the crotch. The Acclaimed goes to scissor and gets nailed for it.

Garcia back elbows and slaps Max, then backdrops him. Garcia lariats him. Garcia dances twice then takes a fameasser. Garcia takes a double team bomb and is pinned.

There wasn't much to this. It was long enough and nobody really did anything too stiff or crazy here. They basically mailed this one in here and it was not a strong main.

Overall thoughts: As is tradition, it was a weak Battle of the Belts. No big matches here and no top level guys wrestling. The main event was mailed in. OC/Silver was the worst of both guys and the rest wasn't much to talk about.
