WWE NXT 2.0 5/24/2022
Last week's show is here: https://prowresblog.blogspot.com/2022/05/wwe-nxt-20-5172022.html
Tony Nese and his crew are getting ready. They did a promo on Santos' crew and said this ain't over. Santos then popped up not too far behind him.
Edris Enofe and Malik Blade vs Stacks and Two Dimes
Stacks and Dimes double back elbow Enofe early then Enofe hits a big dropkick. Blade comes off the 2nd rope with an armdrag then hits a dropkick. Stacks and Dimes beat up on Enofe then we see LdF on an inset in the back. Santos says it is time for LdF to go and they are headed to the ring.
Edris and one of his opponents hockey fight then Enofe steps up on the 2nd rope with a knee. Blade springboards in and trips then one of Tony's crew is clotheslined hard over the top. Blade top rope crossbodies one of his opponents then does a harlem sidekick.
LdF comes out and Blade takes a sandwich elbow and a sandwich forearm and Tony's crew picks up the win.
It wasn't a bad match and Blade/Enofe continue to look capable. It was too hard to tell who was who with Tony's crew though and they need to wear something to differentiate themselves.
Tony tells LdF to come on down so they can do this and all 6 men fight in the ring. Security then breaks it up.
Wes Lee is interviewed. He said he was running on adrenaline when he challenged Sanga, but even now, he stands by it. He says he has to prove to himself that he can.
Sanga vs Wes Lee
Wes' ribs are taped up. Sanga hits a giant throw early and headbutts him in the back of the head. Sanga then steps on his chest while he is down and beats him up from outside as he hangs over the bottom rope. Wes hits some attacks on the leg from below then does a flying koppo kick. Sanga is on the floor and Wes jumps over the top into a double stomp on his back. He then shotgun dropkicks him into the steps. Wes is on the apron and Sanga hits a huge chest shot and drops him.
Wes runs into a big clothesline inside and does a nice corkscrew sell for it then he gets chokeslammed for the Sanga win.
This was well done with both guys playing their role well and looking good.
Xyon Quinn is at ringside and claps for Sanga. He then gets in the ring and goes to do something but Sanga stops him. Wes then kind of hugs Sanga and Sanga does it back.
Cora Jade and Roxanne Perez are in the locker room. They talk about how the NXT Breakout Tournament will be tough. They talk about someone who they beat up named Jenna Waters. Cora said she will be in the crowd for Roxanne's match.
Bron Breakker is in the back. Guru Raaj and Javier Bernal said they saw Gacy's crew going into his locker room. Bron finds a picture on the locker of his family
NXT Women's Breakout Tournament - Alba Fyre vs Elektra Lopez
Alba has a new entrance with fog, fire graphics and a flaming bat. They lock up and roll to the outside into the commentary table and apron. Alba dropkicks her and snapmare rolls her into a kick. Alba is thrown into the buckles shoulder first and we see Cora Jade watching in the crowd. Lopez comes back with a single arm ddt then Alba superkicks her and headbutts her. Alba then hits a swanton off the top to win.
This was a short squash and there wasn't much to it.
Lopez knocks Cora's popcorn away at ringside then yells at her.
Damon Kemp is in the Diamond Mine dojo. The Creed's and Ivy show up. Damon says the Strong/Kemp vs pretty Deadly Match is off tonight. Strong has rolled his ankle. The Creed's don't accept this as they said you should basically fight through the pain. Kemp says he isn't involved with it and just wants to earn his spot here. Brutus gets mad that Pretty Deadly has lucked out here.
Fallon Henley is interviewed with Briggs and Jensen. Nikkita Lyons has an injury and is out of the Breakout Tournament. Fallon has a bye to the finals now and said she was looking forward to fighting Nikkita. Tiffany Stratton comes in and asks if she will take the easy road to the finals. Tiff says she isn't fooled by her country girl act and says she didn't earn her spot in the finals. Fallon said she earned her spot in everything and agrees to fighting her in the tournament.
NXT Women's Breakout Tournament - Lash Legend vs Roxanne Perez
No entrance for Lash here. Roxanne gets blocked on armdrags early then Lash does a delayed reverse suplex. We get a dueling chant over Lash then Lash does a delayed double underhook into a backbreaker. Roxanne does shots to the knee and Thesz presses her. Lash goes for a powerbomb but Roxanne reverses it into a sunset flip to win.
The finish was out of nowhere. This was short and fine.
Toxic Attraction does a walking promo. Mandy says Indi calling her out was one of the worst moves of her career. Katana Chance and Kayden Carter then jump Toxic Attraction. Security comes to break it up. Mandy escapes and continues to head to the ring. Why would Mandy let her friends get beat up?
Mandy Rose vs Indi Hartwell
Not much happens early. Mandy snapmares her and back kicks her. Indi drops her throat first on the top rope and hits short arm clotheslines. Indi then sideslams her for 2.
We go to PiP break and return. Mandy banged Indi's head off the buckle during the break then hit a big forearm. Many goes for some pin attempts then gets spinebustered for 2. Toci Attraction, Chance and Carter come out fighting. Jacy gets in the ring and Indi hits her then Mandy pump kicks her and wins it.
This wasn't any good. Neither of these two are interesting workers and they kept it very basic.
T-A, Chance and Kayden continue to fight outside as Mandy poses and doesn't count. Wendy then comes up from behind Mandy and hits her with a pillow sack filled with basketballs and footballs. Wendy then grabs her title and poses over top of her like a retard.
Bron Breakker is interviewed. We see a clip on the monitor of Bron playing football. The clip had Bron scoring a touchdown and Bron brought up how his dad didn't make that game and it made him sad. That was was dumb.
Pretty Deadly does a promo. They said it's another week and another Diamond disappointment. They say all is not well in the Diamond Dojo and complain they didn't thank them for the remodeling they did on it. They brag about themselves and say, "yes boy". They did a good job with it though.
NXT Women's Breakout Tournament - Tiffany Stratton vs Fallon Henley
Tiff does an up and over early in the corner then backflips. Tiff has new red and white gear here going away from her usual pink. Tiff takes a forearm then grabs her by her hair and slaps her. She then blows her a kiss and slapped. Fallon hits a big leg lariat then slides outside to do the punch spot that Briggs and Jensen do. Tiff dragon screws her as she tries to come back in.
Fallon is against the 2nd rope and Tiff hip attacks her then hits some leg kicks. Tiff then does a flipping senton with her knees on the top rope. Tiff overshoots a sunset slip and chop blocks her. Tiff then does a handspring backflip into a back elbow then double stomps her for 2.
Tiff does a bringing leglock then takes a facebuster. Tiff then takes a back body drop but Fallon's leg gives out. Tiff uses this to springboard off the bottom rope into a double knee then does the same into a corkscrew splash for the win.
I liked that they kind of used the injured knee to play into the finish. Tiff overshot a sunset flip here but looked good otherwise. She's athletic and looks like she's going to be the next female main eventer. Fallon was okay here and I thought it was a decent match.
Grayson Waller celebrates with Tiff after.
Kayden Carter and Katana Chance are interviewed. Chance said they told everyone to stop mistaking their kindness for weakness so they hunted Toxic Attraction down. Kayden agreed and said they are fed up. She said if Toxic Trash wants to do something about it, they should face them in a tag title match at In Your House.
Wendy Choo walks in. She said she liked the sound of that and the sound of her sack of balls hitting Mandy. Wendy says she wants to be NXT Women's champ at In Your House and makes an unofficial challenge.
We see highlights of Von Wagner injuring Jensen and beating up Jiro.
Thea Hail talks about her high school graduation. She said her friends want normal jobs but she wanted to be in WWE. We see her getting letters of acceptance from big colleges and she said she wants to be a student and superstar. She said she has a choice over which school to go to and says she will make her decision next week. Chase U sounds way better than Yale to me.
Bron Breakker is on the phone and seems to tell his family to be careful. Duke Hudson walks in and says he didn't do any of that stuff. He says he is ready for tonight though and Bron says he will see him out there. Bron then grabs him by the shirt and pushes him up against the locker. Duke says Gacy was right about him and I think says he is angry or something.
Von Wagner vs Ikemen Jiro
Jiro rushes in and attacks. He hits some punches and takes a weak powerbomb. Wagner spinning slams him then spinning backdrops him. Jiro gets pulled off the top rope. Jiro gets slammed down then makes a comeback with a springboard dropkick and pocket punches. Jiro hits a step-up enzugiri then asai moonsaults him outside.
Von regains control, pulling the jacket over Jiro's head and punching him. He then hits a falling F-U and wins it.
Jiro was fine here as usual and it might have been one of the better things Von was involved in, but Von still hasn't shown he is worthy of the push he gets.
Sofia Cromwell, the attractive woman who hangs out with the Robert Stone Brand came out. She points and Jiro goes for an attack on Jiro but Josh Briggs comes in and clears off Von. Sofia then prevents Von from going back in.
We go to the parking lot. Tony said the thing with the Legado's has gone too far. Tony says he wants one last business meeting and wants to go to him this time. Stacks and Two Dimes are concerned about it but Tony said everything will go fine. He said if it doesn't, he will give him an offer he can't regfuse.
The Robert Stone Brand talks in the back. Stone is mad about Briggs. Stone says Von has pissed off a lot of people in NXT. He said Von needs eyes in the back of his head. Sofia says if you want to get noticed in NXT, you ruffle feathers. She said Von can handle anything that comes his way. Stone agrees.
Vic and Wade Barrett talk then Mandy Rose and Toxic Attraction intervene. Mandy has had enough of Wendy. She said Wendy is the joke and she is a grown up kid while Mandy is a grown woman. Jacy says Kayden and Kacy can't compete with them and calls them munchkins. Gigi says they are insecure and says T-A will walk-in and out of In Your House as champion.
We go to the Barber Shop with Trick Williams and Carmelo Hayes. Hayes says he isn't the same after losing his title. Trick says he is still that guy and then said third time is the charm. Cameron Grimes then walks in. He said he is just here to talk. He took offense to Hayes calling him lucky. Hayes says he isn't the A-Champion and Grimes says all he will ever be is "a champion". Hayes then said all Grimes will ever be is a title holder. Grimes then starts talking up Nathan Frazer. He says Frazer is the better version of Hayes and will beat him next week. Hayes says he has nothing to prove to him.
Joe Gacy tells his minions they did a great job and have gotten to him. He said they will make sure they get to him tonight.
We get a video of someone in Italy talking Italian. He talks about living in the fastlane and says fashion represents who you are. This person says they are thristy for more. It then says "veni vidi vici" and it says Giovanni Vinci is coming soon. Seems like a perfect partner for Tony D.
Next week we have Toxic Attraction vs Katana, Kayden and Choo, Grimes vs Hayes and Cora Jade vs Elektra Lopez.
Bron Breakker vs Duke Hudson
I think Duke has new gold tights here. Joe Gacy and crew watch from the riser. Bron hurricanrana's Duke then does a side throw. Duke stomps him then Bron does a nice gator roll into a twisting suplex. Bron goes outside to get Duke then Duke clobbers him with a big lariat. Duke hits a nice overhead belly to belly and and a nice boot to the face.
They collide and lariat each other down. We go to PiP break then full break. Bron is up top and is thrown onto the top rope. He bounces and takes a hard bump to the floor. Duke stomps on him and hits some bad mounted punches.
Duke goes for the razor's edge but is back body dropped. Bron comes back with shoulders and powerslams him. Bron then lariats him over the top and goes over the top with him. Bron stares down the minions outside then fights with them in clear view of the ref. Somehow that wasn't a DQ. Duke goes for a chair shot and isn't DQ'd, then the minions get in the ring and fight with Bron and aren't DQ'd. Bron swings a chair at Gacy on the apron then hits Duke with it and gets DQ'd. Gacy laughs as his plan works out. Gacy says Bron can't control himself and Bron tells him to shut up. Gacy stares and smiles at him to close the show.
The finishing stretch sucked and didn't make much sense. The druids should have been kicked out and someone probably should have been dq'd. This wasn't bad though and Duke really is becoming a solid heavyweight hand. This whole angle with Gacy is not working out though. It's not entertaining and it makes Bron look like an idiot and that's a big problem with all the potential Bron has.
Overall thoughts: Most of the matches were solid but the Gacy/Bron angle sucks and it brought down the show.
