WWE NXT 2.0 5/17/2022

Carmelo Hayes and Trick Williams come out. Melo says Solo doesn't have next, he has last. Trick says the N-A Title is going back where it belongs (to Melo).
Carmelo Hayes and Trick Williams vs Cameron Grimes and Solo Sikoa
Hayes gets sent out early then Trick takes a gut kick and a senton from Solo. Trick takes a kick and chop combo from both opponents. Trick then comes back with a flying clothesline. He then helps Hayes up the ropes for a springboard crossbody.
Solo splashes Trick in the corner then does a running hip attack. Trick hits a Mcguillicutter on Solo then him and Hayes do a passing and shooting a basketball taunt. We go to PiP break where Hayes and Trick stay in control. Solo takes shots from Hayes. Solo backdrops Hayes over the top but Hayes and Trick trip Solo on the outside. Hayes then slingshot elbow drops Solo.
Trick misses a splash in the corner and hits his face off the buckle. Grimes then gets the hot tag in and hurricanrana's both opponents at the same time. Grimes top rope crossbodies Hayes.
We get some more action and Solo spinning uranage's Hayes. Grimes his the M. Bison stomp on Trick then Solo top rope splashes Hayes for the win.
This was fine. No real complaints about this.
Hayes points at the N-A Title and Grimes raises it in front of him.
Pretty Deadly is interviewed. They joke that thye are scared of the defending against The Creed's. They say they beat them already and said they are one of a kind. they said they will see what they are like after the Viking Raiders destroy them.
Thea Hail gets an intro video. She says she is signed by WWE. She said she thinks she was the youngest one at the tryouts and said she can't wait to start training at the Performance Center. She said she needs to graduate high school though which happens next week. She tells the NXT Women's Division to watch out because here she comes.
NXT Women's Breakout Tournament 1st Round - Lash Legend vs Tatum Paxley
Tatum gets an inset promo. She said Lash doesn't intimidate her and no one is stronger than her in this tournament.
Lash charges at her with a back elbow to start. Lash axe kicks her in the back of the head. Tatum is on her shoulders then rolls forward with a headscissors on her. They both then kip up. Tatum gets driven face first and hard into the middle buckle, then Lash bangs her leg off the post. Lash grabs Tatum's leg and cartwheels forward to stretch it then Lash pulls her leg as it is put around the rope.
Lash puts her in the stretch muffler. Tatum tries to electric chair her but can't then she suplexes her. Tatum hits a standing corkscrew moonsault and still can't get the electric chair on. Lash then pump kicks her and wins it.
I guess maybe the leg work here made sense as it prevented Tatum from putting the electric chair move she was trying on her. It wasn't too long of a match though and the finish was somewhat out of nowhere.
Tony D and his crew do a promo. Tony said Santos won't have anyone to blame but himself. His crew suggests things to do to Santos. They talk about old stories of beating people up and Tony says he wants Santos alone 1v1 tonight.
We are told NXT is going back on the road and doing live events.
Duke Hudson is interviewed. He said he doesn't care what the NXT Universe wants or needs, though they never state that him and Persia Pirotta are done. He said he took a few weeks off to clear up his mind. He said no one measures up to him then Bron Breakker walks through and says to hit his music, interrupting the promo.
Bron Breakker does a promo in the ring. He said Gacy dumped him in a field somewhere the last time we saw him. He said Joe Gacy has two people doing hwatever he wants for him. Bron tells him to kiss his @ss. He said he should have finished the job as now he is coming to make him unconscious.
Joe Gacy appears up in the stands. Bron says he is ready for whatever Joe has in store tonight. He invites him down to the ring. Joe says their journey together isn't over. He said Bron rejected the oppurtunity of a lifetime to join him. He said he will give the people what they want and that's a match between them. Joe said it is time we up the stakes though. Joe says Bron should kick his butt and should lose control against him. Joe says if Bron loses control though, he could lose the title. Joe says their match should have the stipulation where if Bron is DQ'd, he loses the NXT Title. He asks Bron how bad he wants it and Bron says he is on.
Indi Hartwell does a promo. She said she is tried of feeling sorry for herself. She says she has the biggest opportunity of her life and is now flying solo. She said it is now sink or swim. She says if Mandy wants to kick her when she is down and weak, she should do it when is up and in her face. She says if Mandy is the measuring stick of NXT, she will take the stick and shove it up her @ss.
Wes Lee is told his match with Xyon Quinn is postponed as Xyon is not medically cleared. Wes doesn't buy it and said Xyon knows where to find him when he is ready. Nathan Frazer comes in. He says Wes wants to be in the ring tonight and he does too. Wes says it may not be the right time as he has pent up aggression, then Nathan says he looks forward to the challenge.
The Creed Brothers vs The Viking Raiders
Julius jumps over a charging Ivar and double stomps his back. He then knocks Erik off the apron and the Creeds shoulder Ivar out. Erik forearms Julius hard then the VR's club him down. Erik throws Julius into an Ivar lariat. Brutus double chops Erik then hammer fists him on the ground. Brutus hits a nice delayed german on Erik's head then lifts Ivar up to the top rope. Brutus ducks and Julius dropkicks Ivar over him. Brutus then does a top rope cannonball on his opponents outside.
Julius gutwrenches Brutus on Erik then Erik takes the Creed's on 1v2. Ivar gets the hot tag in. He shoulders and hits big lariats on Julius. Ivar then hits a back elbow flurry on Julius. Brutus gets in. He puts Erik on his shoulders then Julius jumping knees him and Brutus spinebusters Erik. Erik tags in Ivar.
Julius gets thrown out then Ivar hits his corner butt drop on Julius. Erik hands off Julius to Ivar up top and Ivar top rope slams him. Julius his a stiff german on Erik then Julius jumps up top and gets his superplex attempt blocked. Ivar misses a top rope splash.
Both teams face off then start hockey fighting. Roderick Strong runs in and seemingly tries to attack Julius while Damon Kemp distracts the ref. Julius then takes a double single-armed powerbomb and is pinned.
As it was last time, this was another good match. These two work so well together and it doesn't get much better. I could watch these guys fight 100 times. Just good strong style heavyweight wrestling. I don't know what Strong was doing at the end but it seemed like it was botched.
Santos Escobar cuts a promo on Tony D'Angelo. He said he is in Tony's head and trusts the match tonight will be 1v1. Elektra says she doesn't trust anyone and Santos says lets go to work.
Grayson Waller is in the locker room then Tiffany Stratton walks in. Tiff asks him to take care of the Andre Chase situation, and he says he will handle it right now.
Bron is in the parking lot and gets asked if he is playing into Gacy's hands. He said as long as he has the title, Gacy won't do a thing. Duke Hudson then interrupts and tells him that if he disrespects him again, he won't make it to In Your House. Bron says they should settle this in the ring and he says it sounds better next week.
Grayson Waller vs Andre Chase
Sarray is waving the Chase U flag in the stands. Chase neckbreakers him early and takes kick to the chest. Waller suplexes him for 2 then Chase sunset flips him from the 2nd rope. Waller then hits a jumping sidekick for 2. Cahse catapults him into the buckles then atomic drops him. Chase then russian leg sweeps him and does the C-H-A-S-E-U stomps.
Chase backdrops Waller over the top and he lands on Bodhi. Chase comes back in and Waller does too then Waller does his flip into the ring then the stunner to win it.
Nothing wrong with this one. Sarray with Chase U is fun and makes sense.
Gigi and Jacy are watching a promo video with Kayden Carter and Katana Chance. Mandy comes in and they all want to know why everyone is obsessed with them. Gig says Toxic Attraction isn't getting enough respect and says that needs to change. Mandy says it starts with Indi Hartwell.
Diamond Mine argue in the back. Strong says the Creed's can't beat Pretty Deadly without following his lead. Strong sends Kemp to do something with them. Pretty Deadly comes in. They say the Creed's can't beat them. Strong is mocked for being a singles guy and says him and Kemp should face PD next week, which they agree to.
NXT Women's Breakout Tournament First Round - Roxanne Perez vs Kiana James
Kiana comes out in glasses and gets an inset promo. She says she is the most strategic woman in the tournament. She says the odds of Perez winning are astronomical. She says she achieves success in all of her endeavors.
Kiana takes her down then walks over her back. Kiana flips over her then Perez cartwheels over her and poses. Perez hits some armdrags then dropkicks her in the side of her shoulder. Kiana bow and arrows her then boston crabs her. Perez rolls her up for 2 then Kiana swings her around into a backbreaker. Perez headscissors her then hits a Thesz press on her. Perez then russian leg sweeps her for 2. Perez is in the corner and Kiana charges at her and gets a code red called "pop rocks" and Perez win it.
It was fine. This was one of the better matches Kiana has had so far though I wouldn't say she stuck out or anything. They got enough time for this.
Edris Enofe and Malik Blade dress up as Escobar and Tony D and do impersonations. Stacks and Two Dimes walk in then tell them to stop playing make believe and face the real thing. Blade calls them "mamaluke".
I think Nathan Frazer passes by the pretty blonde girl who has been affiliated with the Robert Stone Brand in the back.
Roxanne Perez is interviewed. Cora Jade hugs her from behind and says they have been friends for a while. Roxanne agrees then Elektra Lopez walks in. She said tonight belongs to Legado del Fantasma. She calls the two an overacheiver and underachiever. Cora asks what her problem is and Lopez says neither one of them are.
Nathan Frazer vs Wes Lee
they flip over each other early and both hit stiff armdrags. Wes backflips out of a leg sweep. Frazer is on the apron and Wes slingshots the rope in his face then plancha's him. Frazer then topes him. Wes enzugiri's him then hits a nice german for 2. Wes goes up top and takes an enzugiri. Frazer goes for a superplex but Wes counters it into a body press.
Frazer superkicks him and catches himself on a pheonix splash. They then collide crossbodies in mid-air. Von Wagner then comes in and face kicks Frazer hard for the DQ.
Tony and Santos talk to their crews ahead of their match.
Wes Lee and Frazer talk in the kitchen area. Sanga is there. He said it was a good match and it was unfair what happened. He mentioned their size which Wes took wrongly as Frazer said everyone is small to Sanga. Wes says he won't be disrespected and Sanga says he meant no disrespect. Wes challenges him to a match and says he wants to prove that you don't have to be 10 foot tall to be successful around here. Sanga accepts the match.
Bron Breakker vs Duke Hudson is announced for next week as is Mandy Rose vs Indi Hartwell.
Tony D'Angelo vs Santos Escobar
Slow start here. Tony back elbows him then pounds on him. Tony then neckbreakers him over the top rope. Tony hits another neckbreaker then is enzugiri'd out. Santos then goes for a tope but is hit with a lariat on his way out. Tony then puts on his hat and mockingly slaps Santos.
We go to PiP break and return. We saw that Tony hit a powerbomb on Santos during the break. Tony flurries on him with punches to the gut then Santos comes back with a dropkick. Santos then does a jumping side kick and topes him.
Santos slingshot sentons on Tony then jumping flatliners him. Tony comes back with lariats and a back elbow. Tony then belly to belly suplexes him three times. They fight on the ropes and Tony takes a top rope hurricanrana. Tony goes looking for his crowbar but LdF comes out and has it. Stacks and 2 Dimes then fight with LdF and Santos finds brass knucks. He hits a loaded punch on Tony and wins it.
This was fine and the main furthered the LdF vs Tony's crew feud.
Joe Gacy does a promo with his druids. He said he knows Bron won't be able to control his rage and it will give Joey full control of the NXT Title, the brand and the world. We then see the camera zoom out and Joe is on the top floor of a building, which doesn't seem to have much significance.
Overall thoughts: The in-ring work was pretty solid. I didn't like the Von Wagner interference in the Lee/Frazer match, I didn't like the Sofia Cromwell thing and the Indi/Duke stuff could have used more explanation. I thought it was a solid episode overall.
