WWE Superstars 5/29/2014

Last week's show is here: https://prowresblog.blogspot.com/2026/02/wwe-superstars-5222014.html

Byron Saxton and Tom Phillips are on commentary.

Big E vs Titus O'Neil

They get in each others faces. Titus shoves him twice. E takes him down and hits shots. E punches him in the corner then hits corner spears. Titus facekicks him. Titus then hits mounted shots and then drops him with punches. Titus chinlocks him. Titus hits a nice powerslam for 2.

Titus clubs him and hits a big backbreaker on the shoulder for 1. Titus bullies him and tells him to get up. E hits shots to the gut and Titus shoulders him over for 2. Titus arm and chinlocks him. Titus chest clubs him in the corner. Titus corner splashes E. Titus misses a corner splash and E germans him over the top rope.

E hits running lariats, a corner spear and a belly to belly suplex. E splashes him. E hits a big ending and wins.

Thoughts: This was a good bout. They were rough with each other and both powered the other around which is impressive at their sizes. This match is the kind of stuff you watch this show for and it went well.

R-Truth and Xavier Woods vs Ryback and Curtis Axel

Truth raps to the ring as usual and tells the crowd to make some noise. He then does his "What's Up?" line.

CA boots Woods in the gut and clubs on him. CA shoulders him over. Woods then hits a dropkick for 1. Woods spinning headscissors him. CA is hit with a double chop then Truth gets a 1 count on him. Truth dances and drops CA with an uppercut.

Ry gets in. Truth punches him and yanks on the arm. Ry knees him  in the gut and bangs his head off the buckles. Truth punches him and rolls him up for 1. Truth hits forearms then Woods 2nd rope forearms him for 1. Ry takes a double hiptoss then a double lariat over the top.

We go to break and return. Truth fights off his opponents in the corner and CA dropkicks Truth. CA beats up Truth in the corner and hits him on the 2nd rope. CA knees Truth in the gut. Truth takes corner attacks. Ry suplexes Truth for 2.

Ry chinlocks Truth. Ry back elbows him then slams him. Ry 2nd rope splashes Truth. CA 2nd rope double axe handles Truth for 2. CA knees Truth in the gut. Truth jumping side kicks him. Woods gets in. He hits forearms on Ry and spin kicks him in the gut. Woods running dropkicks him.

Woods enzugiri's him from the apron then top rope crossbodies him for 2. Woods hits chops and Ry shoves him over. Woods sunset flips him for 2. Woods headflips into a lariat on Ry for 2. CA pulls Truth out and sends him into the rails. Woods dropkicks CA through the ropes. Ry lariats Woods then hits a shellshock for the win.

Thoughts:
It was acceptable but not much more. They didn't botch anything or have any problems but it just wasn't that great or interesting. The faces could have flown around a bit more and the heels could have shown a bit more personality.

Overall thoughts: There were only 2 new matches as usual with various recaps. Titus vs Big E was good. They hit each other hard, they got rough with each other and slammed each other. That was a Superstars hidden gem and well worth a look. The main was just acceptable without too many big highlights. I'd check out Titus vs Big E and skip the other match. It was an okay show mainly for Titus/Big E.

Next week's show is here: https://prowresblog.blogspot.com/2026/02/wwe-superstars-5292014.html

Byron Saxton and Tom Phillips are on commentary.

Big Show vs Titus O'Neil

They lock up and Show shoves him backwards. Titus hits boots and punches. Show hits a big lariat. Show chops him in the corner. Titus hits him in the eye and shoulders him over. Titus clubs and stomps on him. Titus chinlocks him. Show back drops him to break it. Show hits lariats and then running shoulders him over. Titus hits a ddt on him for 2.

Titus stomps him then leg drops him for 2. Titus sleepers him. Show throws him over then chokeslams him. Show picks up the pin.

Thoughts:
It was a slower match and only went about 4 minutes or so. Show won as expected. I liked show busting out the backdrop and his shoulderblocks looked good.

Jack Swagger vs Cody Rhodes

Zeb Colter is with Jack and Goldust is with Cody. Jack headlocks him and shoulders him over. Cody side headlocks him then is shouldered over. Cody flying lariats him. Cody gordbusters him then throws him down by the arm. Cody does a wristlock from behind. Jack hits some short arm shoulderblocks.

Jack lifts him up by the arm and wraps him arm around the 2nd rope. Cody goes up and over and hiptosses him. Cody hammerlocks him and hits knees to the arm. Cody hits mounted corner punches.

Cody snapmares him and running knees him for 1. They collide when Cody avoids being sent into the buckles. Zeb yells at Cody then Goldust gets in Zeb's face. He then spits in his face. Cody dropkicks Jack out then walks up the buckles and plancha's him outside. We go to break and return.

Jack pulls Cody's arms back. Jack clubs on Cody. Cody hits shots to the gut and head. Jack bends over and is kicked. Jack lariats him for 2. Jack hits shots to the back. Cody is sent hard int othe buckles for 2.

Jack knees Cody in the gut. Cody flips out of a backdrop and disaster kicks him. Cody drop down punches him. Cody goes up and over and sunset flips him for 2. Cody springboard dropkicks him for 2. Jack blocks cross rhodes then ankle locks him. Jack goes into the buckles twice. Cody top rope moonsaults him for 2. Cody's disaster kick is caught and Jack goes for the ankle lock. Cody then taps out.

Thoughts
: It was an average match and got a little better towards the end. Jack should have worked the ankle a bit more before winning with an ankle lock. I liked Cody flipping out of the backdrop then hitting the disaster kick right after.

Overall thoughts: There were only 2 new matches here as usual. The main was the better match but neither was great. The opener was a little show at times. I wouldn't really recommend this one and thought it was average, but there's worse ways to spend 15 minutes.

Next week's show is here: https://prowresblog.blogspot.com/2026/02/wwe-superstars-5222014.html

Tom Phillips and Byron Saxton are on commentary.

Kofi Kingston vs Titus O'Neil

Kofi hits kicks to the body and punches. Titus backs him up in the corner and swings at him. Titus' throat is pulled over the top rope. Kofi spin kicks him then Titus facekicks him over. Titus boots him in the corner and backbreakers him over the shoulder for 2.

Titus bearhugs him. Kofi hits headbutts. Titus lariats him from behind and bangs Kofi's head off the mat. Titus barely hits a legdrop. Kofi hits shots to the gut. Titus hits knees to the gut and throws him down backwards for 2. Titus misses a corner charge.

Kofi dropkicks him. Kofi jumps at him in the corner and sunset flips him for 2. Kofi walks up the buckles and twisting crossbodies him for 2. Kofi springboard lariats him then does a boom drop. Kofi jumps at him and is caught with a backbreaker for 2. Kofi boots him out of the corner and hits a corkscrew kick for the win.

Thoughts: It was a decent bout here. Titus got his offense in early and stiffed Kofi some. Kofi then got his offense in and was able to pick up the win. Not a great, but it was a perfectly fine bout for this type of show.

Jerry Lawler interviews Kofi Kingston ever. Kofi says it feels great to win. He says WWE stars are the best athletes on the planet. He says anytime you can beat Titus, you take it. Lawler asks how it feels to put Rusev in his mirror. Kofi says he doesn't want to talk about Rusev. He asks if anyone will cook him a Southern style meal as he's hungry. He says he wants to go celebrate.

Drew McIntyre vs Sin Cara

Drew has 3MB and Hornswoggle with him. Sin has Los Matadore's and El Torito with him.

Sin rolls him up for 2 and tries another pin attempt. Drew backs off. Drew side headlocks him then shoulders him over. Sin backrolls, gets caught and armdrags Drew off of it. Sin monkey flips Drew then armdrags him into an armlock.

Sin armdrags him. Drew misses a corner attack. Sin misses a top rope moonsault. Sin kind of monkey flips Drew over the top. The two sides then stand off outside with the midgets wanting to go at it.

We go to break and return. Sin springboards and takes a double throat thrust. Drew stomps on Sin in the corner. Drew chin and armlocks Sin. Drew hits knees to the cut and Sin bodypresses him. Drew tilt-a-whirl backbreakers him for 2. Drew hits mounted punches.

Drew headbutts Sin. Sin boots him out of the corner and 2nd rope twisting ddt's him. El Torito gets on the apron. Sin leg kicks Drew then 2nd rope twisting rossbodies him. Sin spinning headscissors Drew. Sin handspring back elbows him for 2. The ref pulls Sin off of Drew and Drew claymore kicks him.

Torito is on the apron and Hornswoggle goes up to him. They argue and Horn piefaces him. Torito charges at him. Horn tries to go under the ring. Heath Slater tries to grab him, a Matador tries to grab him, Jinder grabs him then another Matador grabs him. All of them go under the ring. Everone but the midgets come out.

Torito then comes out with Hornswoggle's pants. Horn comes out without pants on and he is in his underwear. Horn is embarrassed, he runs and he trips. Los Matadores laugh. Sin enzugiri's Drew and top rope swantons him. Sin then pins Drew to win.

Thoughts:
Well that was something. I didn't see that match coming. It was a bit goofy but it's Superstars and it doesn't matter. The shenanigans under the ring did take away from the match though and it did hurt what was a good looking match.

Torito puts on Hornswoggle's pants after and dances.

Overall thoughts: We had 2 new matches, 1 new interview and various hype packages and recaps. The show was okay and totally digestible. The opener was fine. The main was looking good but there was a bunch of shenanigans with people going under the ring and Hornswoggle losing his pants which took away from it. The new content was fun and this wasn't a bad watch.

WWE Superstars 5/8/2014

Next week's show is here: https://prowresblog.blogspot.com/2026/01/wwe-superstars-5152014.html

Byron Saxton and Tom Phillips are on commentary.

The Uso's (Jimmy and Jey Uso) vs 3MB (Jinder Mahal and Drew McIntyre)

Hornswoggle is with 3MB. Jin's shoulder is all taped up.

Jimmy and Drew trade basic holds. Jimmy throws him over. Drew side headlocks him then shoulders him over. Jimmy lariats Drew off the blocked hiptoss. Jey top rope clubs Drew's arm. Drew clubs on Jimmy. Jin gets in and is chopped by Jimmy. Jin takes a double back elbow and a double elbow drop. Drew is double clotheslined over the top. The Uso's tease dives but the heels move. Hornswoggle argues with them as he gets left behind.

We go to break and return. Drew gets chopped by Jimmy then hits a knee to the chest. Drew hits punches in the corner and rakes Jimmy's eyes on the ropes. Jimmy is held for a boot from Jin and a spinning neckbreaker. Jin chinlocks Jimmy.

Jin stomps Jimmy then knee drops him. Drew legdrops Jimmy for 2. Drew flying kicks Jimmy in the face. Drew pounds on Jimmy. Jin knee drops Jimmy. Hornswoggle eye rakes Jimmy. Jin chokes Jimmy over the 2nd rope. Jin chinlocks Jimmy.

Jimmy enzugiri's Jin. Jey and Drew get in. Jey hits flying lariats and a superkick on Drew. Jey samoan drops him. Jey flying knees him in the corner. Jey corner hip attacks Drew for 2. Jin is thrown out then Jimmy suicide dives him. Hornswoggle yells at Jimmy and Jimmy tries to superkick him. Horn runs away right into Heath Slater's crotch. Jey superkicks Drew then Jimmy top rope splashes Drew to win.

Thoughts: It was tough to follow as Tom couldn't keep track of which Uso was which. It was your usual Superstars level match with these two teams. It was fine but nothing that great or memorable.

Paige vs Alicia Fox

They lock up and Paige kicks her in the chest. Fox is thrown by the hair. Paige stomps her in the corner for 2. Paige totally misses a headbutt that Fox sells anyway. Paige hits knees to the gut.

Fox goes out and tilt-a-whirl backbreakers Paige on the floor. Fox stomps Paige. Fox pulls Paige's arms back and surfboards her off of it. Fox then sits on Paige's back with a chinlock. Fox knees her in the gut then slams her. Paige rolls her up for 2. Paige low dropkicks her. She does a very low headscissors and somehow ends up on Fox with it.

Paige hits short arm lariats. Fox back elbows her. Paige is swept on the bottom rope. Paige then submits Fox with the queen angelito stretch.

Thoughts: It was short and not good. They missed on a bunch of stuff, Fox took bumps when she didn't even have anything done to her and the low headscissors into a press was an interesting botch. Fox always had some of the most creative and athletic botches and we got some of those here.

Overall thoughts: There were only 2 new matches here as usual. The men's tag match was acceptably but Tom Phillips kept messing up the names of The Uso's and threw me off. The women's match had a bunch of sloppy moments and botches and wasn't good. I wouldn't recommend this one and thought it was a little below average for Superstars.

Next week's show is here: https://prowresblog.blogspot.com/2026/01/wwe-superstars-582014.html

Tom Phillips and Byron Saxton are on commentary.

Sin Cara vs Damien Sandow

Sin tries 3 pins to start then DS rolls out to stall. DS boots him in the gut and wristlocks him. DS pulls him down by the mask twice. DS side headlocks him. Sin hits a dropkick then armdrags him into an armlock. Sin goes up and over then armdrags him into an armlock. DS stomps him in the corner.

DS misses a corner charge. Sin throws him out and plancha's him off the top outside. We go to break and return. Sin forearms him fron the apron and slingshot swantons him for 2. Sin armlocks him. Sin armdrags him. Sin hits chops. Sin misses a springboard and DS running lariats him for 2. DS hits corner spears on him. DS waistlocks him.

Sin sunset flips him for 2 then DS basement dropkicks him. DS russian legsweeps him then elbow drops him for 2. DS headbutts Sin in the back of the head. DS abdominal stretches him. Sin hiptosses him then handspring back elbows him. Sin springboard crossbodies him then headscissors him. Sin rolls him up into a pwoerbomb for 2.

DS gets his knees up on Sin's top rope swanton. DS hits a half-nelson slam and wins.

Thoughts:
It went a bit long and was only so-so. This is not the original Sin Cara but the second. He has a real lack of charisma, fire and doesn't play the face that well at all.

Tamina vs Natalya

Nat side headlocks her. Tam kicks her in the leg. Nat rolls into a pin on her for 1. Tam blocks Nat's crucifix then Tam misses a butt drop. They trade forearms. Tam samoan drops her off a missed spinning lariat. Tam chokes her on the ropes.

Tam does a bad olmpic slam for 2. Nat is thrown down off a chinlock. Nat boots her off the ropes then double underhook suplexes her for 2. Nat backslides her for 2. Nat low dropkicks her. Nat gets a 2 count on her. Tam superkicks her and pins her.

Thoughts:
It wasn't good. They piped in fake crowd noise and I think Tamina just wore her street clothes here. There was no build to the finish at all and it just wasn't that pretty of a match.

Overall thoughts
: There were only 2 matches her as usual along with various recaps. Neither match was that good and I would not recommend this.

Next week's show is here: https://prowresblog.blogspot.com/2026/01/wwe-superstars-512014.html

Bryon Saxton and Tom Phillips are on commentary.

Big E vs Damien Sandow

DS side headlocks him. E throws him off. E throws him off of his back and side headlock takeovers him. DS boots E in the gut. E hits corner spears for 2. DS headbutts him and E suplexes him. E throws him.

DS gets some punches and clubs in. DS headbutts him. E hits backbreakers for 2. E is tripped and goes into the middle buckle head first. E falls out of the ring. DS stomps him inside the ring and knee drops him. E chinlocks him. We go to break and return.

DS knee drops him and double axe handles him. DS elbow drops him and hits punches to the head. DS chinlocks him. E goes into the buckles face first and DS chokes him with his knee and foot. DS chinlocks him. E hits elbows to the gut and DS boots him out of the corner.

DS goes for a slam and E headbusters him for 2. DS flipping neckbreakers him from the side for 2. DS pounds and boots him in the corner. E lariats him then hits a big ending to win.

Thoughts:
It was oddly a mostly one sided bout with DS getting all the offense in. I have no idea why. DS' offense was fine but the heel being on offense the whole time was not super exciting. E is the current IC champ and picked up the win because of it. E also busted his nose open here.

Jerry Lawler interviews Big E on the stage after. Lawler asks him about the ongoing IC Title #1 Contender's Tournament. He says people are lining up around the block to face him. He says he wants the best of the best and says he needs to beat the best to be the best. He says he will walk in and out of Extreme Rules as IC champ.

Kofi Kingston vs Titus O'Neil

Titus backs him up in the corner and piefaces him. Kofi hits kicks to the legs. Kofi dropkicks him. Titus blocks his monkey flip and hits a big boot to the face. Kofi is thrown hard into the corner and goes down. Titus stomps on him. Titus arm and chinlocks him.

Kofi jawbreakers him and is thrown down. Titus hits mounted punches then a short arm clothesline. Kofi chops him in the corner then Titus hits his own chop. Titus backbreakers him, swings him down and leg drops the back of his neck for 2.

Titus throws him down backwards then misses a legdrop. Titus is thrown out. Titus comes in and Kofi dropkicks him. Kofi hits kicks to the body and kicks him in the corner. Kofi springboard crossbodies him for 2. Titus ducks a PK and slams Kofi. Titus goes for a fallaway slam but is rolled up for 2. Kofi hits a trouble in paradise corkscrew kick and wins.

Thoughts: Titus was pretty rough with Kofi here and definitely made him earn that win. I thought Kofi did a decent job of making this look like a fight and he sold well for Titus. This just was just only acceptable though as the structure and flow wasn't quite there.

Overall thoughts: There were only 2 new matches as usual along the various recaps and replays. Sandow/Big E was mostly dominated by Sandow and E didn't really get a great comeback in before winning. I thought Titus/Kofi did a good job of making it look like a fight but the structure and flow wasn't there. This was just so-so overall and I wouldn't recommend it.

Next week's show is here: https://prowresblog.blogspot.com/2026/01/wwe-superstars-4262014.html

We get a tribute video for The Ultimate Warrior, who passed away recently.

Byron Saxton and Tom Phillips are on commentary.

Big E vs Titus O'Neil

They lock up and E is backed up in the corner. Titus piefaces him and is shoved. Titus side headlocks him. E shoulders him over then gets slammed. Titus hits shots on him then chops him in the corner. Titus gets rough with him and puts him down in the corner.

Titus throws E on a slam and legdrops him for 2. Titus chinlocks him. E rams him into the corner and hits a corner spear. Titus facekicks him for 2. Titus kicks him in the gut and cranks his head. Titus tells him to quit. E hits shots to the gut. Titus slams E.

Titus slaps him around. E hits shots to the gut and Titus knees him in the gut. Titus talks trash and slaps him. E slaps him and hits punches. Titus knees him in the gut. Titus then slaps him. Titus tries to throw him but E lands on his feet. E hits lariats and belly to belly suplexes him. E hits a big splash. E then hits a big ending and wins.

Thoughts: Yeah, this was one of those Superstars gems. Titus stiffed Big E all the way through this one and hit a bunch of slaps like E owed him money. E definitely wasn't loving it and slapped him back a bit as well. Titus did a great job talking trash and this was a fun little fight. This was nothing but two big dudes getting chippy with each other and that makes for good wrestling.

Los Matadores (Diego & Fernando) vs 3MB (Drew McIntyre and Jinder Mahal)

It's hard to tell the Matadores apart so bear with me here.

Drew locks up with a Matador and side headlocks him. Drew shoulders him over and poses. Drew runs the ropes fast then a Matador stops him and yells "ole". Drew lariats him down and eats a boot in the corner. Drew then takes a 2nd rope diving headscissor.

Drew takes a russian legsweep into a slingshot swanton for 1. A Matador is rammed into the corner and JM hits some nice punches. JM is hurricanrana'd. JM forearms and clubs him. The Matador fights off the heels but is kicked in the leg hard by Drew and goes down.

We go to break and return. A Matador gets his legs split. JM elbow drops the Matador's leg and footlocks him. Drew boots the Matador in the leg. The Matador jawbreakers Drew. Drew bangs the Matador's leg over his shoulder for 2. Drew butt drops the Matador's leg and JM bangs it off the apron edge.

JM knee drops the Matador. 3MB hits a double slingshot suplex for 2. Drew boots the Matador in the knee and puts him in tree of woe. Drew boots the knee more there. JM then boots the knee.

The Matador makes his comeback and ddt's Drew. The other Matador gets in and springboard chops JM. He flies at JM and 2nd rope double chops JM. The Matador bottom rope twisting swantons JM for 2.

Drew is sent over the top. JM and the Matador run into each other. Heath Slater and El Torito get on the apron. They then both get on the 2nd rope and Heath gets mad. Heath goes up top and Torito crotches him. JM is hit with a hammerlock ddt and is pinned.

Thoughts:
It was an okay tag with one of the Matdores getting his knee worked on before tagging out and getting the win. It was nothing super memorable but it was fine for what it was. We also got our usual Torito spot where he crotched Heath.

Overall thoughts:
There were only 2 new matches as usual here. Big E vs Titus was good and the main was fine. I'd actually recommend the Titus/Big E match as they got stiff with each other and had a good little fight.

Next week's show is here: https://prowresblog.blogspot.com/2025/09/wwe-superstars-2142014.html

Tom Phillips and Byron Saxton are on commentary.

Natalya vs Tamina Snuka

They lock up and Nat is backed up in the corner. Nat rolls her up for 1. Tam boots her in the gut. Nat sunset flips her off the crucifix for 1. Nat la magistral's her for 1. Tam bangs Nat's head off the buckles while she's on the apron and Nat goes down.

Tam headbutts her and short arm lariats her for 2. Tam chinlocks her. Tam running back elbows her. Tam cravates her. Nat hits shots to the gut. Tam samoan drops her. Tam misses a 2nd rope splash. Tam boots her out of the ring then jumping headbutts her outside. Nat pushes into the commentary table and throws her back in. Nat hits lariats in the ring. Nat goes for the crab and Tam ropebreaks.

Nat is pushed into the ropes. Tam misses a superkick and is rolled up for 2. Tam then superkicks her and pins her.

Thoughts: It wasn't exciting or too much of note. They had trouble getting any momentum going here and the trips to the outside didn't really help with that.

The Usos (Jimmy and Jey Uso) & Los Matadores (Diego and Fernando) vs 3MB (Drew McIntyre, Jinder Mahal and Heath Slater) & Curt Hawkins

Heath and Jey start us off. Heath shoulders him over. Jey dances then drops him with an uppercut. Jey slams him then a Matador slingshot elbow drops Heath. Heath runs into a dropkick. Heath is sent out then tripped into the 2nd rope. Heath's buddies pull him out.

We go to break and return. Jinder takes shots from a Matador. A Matadora handstands in the corner and headscissors Jinder off of it. Heath flying kicks a Matador down for 2. Heath foot chokes a Matador. Jinder knee drops a Matador for 2. Jinder then flying knees him for 2.

Heath hits a knee drop. Curt then hits one too for 2. Curt does a front facelock on a Matador then knees him in the chest. Jimmy is tagged in. Jimmy hits lariats on Curt and superkicks him in the gut. Jimmy samoan drops him. Jimmy hits a corner hip attack for 2. Heath is hurricanrana'd out. Drew facekicks a Matador off the apron then is superkicked. Curt takes a swinging superkick. Jey suicide dives out and Jimmy top rope splashes Curt to win.

Thoughts: It was a shorter one. It had a good bit of action and there was nothing wrong with this. We saw little of Drew here.

Overall thoughts: There were only 2 new matches as usual. The women's match wasn't anything special. The men didn't get a lot of time with it but did good with what they got. There's nothing you need to see here though and I wouldn't recommend this one.

WWE Superstars 1/31/2014

Last week's show is here: https://prowresblog.blogspot.com/2025/08/wwe-superstars-1102014.html

Tom Phillips and Byron Saxton are on commentary.

Summer Rae vs Natalya

Nat side headlocks her then shoulders her over. Sum hiptosses her and dances. Nat side headlock takeovers her. Sum headscissors her. Nat backrolls her for 2. Sum slides out and Nat throws her in. Sum boots her as she tries to get in.

Sum puts her legs behind Nat's neck and pushes. She then turns it into a pin attempt. Nat hits forearms on Sum then Sum spinning high kicks her for 2. Sum armlocks her. Nat armdrags her. Sum misses a corner charge. Nat hits lariats. Nat suplexes her then basement dropkicks her.

Sum slaps her then Nat spinning lariats her. Nat then sharpshooters her and submits her.

Thoughts: It was a quick one with a fast pace. They did okay with it and fit their stuff in well here. It didn't have the time to be anything too great.

Los Matadores (Fernando and Diego) vs 3MB (Jinder Mahal and Drew McIntyre)

Jin and Deigo go at it. Jin wristlocks him. Diego reverses it and side headlocks him. Jin rolls him then Diego shoulders him over twice. Diego springboard forearms him. Fern takes knees to the gut from Jin then hurricanrana's him. Fern armdrags him into an armlock. Drew comes in and gets thrown out by a Matador. The faces tease dives and scare the heels. We go to break and return.

Drew takes a springboard back elbow from Fern. Jin pulls the ropes up on Fern and pulls him out. Jin puts Fern's head in the ring skirt and kicks it. Drew stomps Fern's hand. Fern sunset flips him. Drew sick kicks Fern.

Drew sits on Fern's back and pulls his arm and chin. Jin knee chokes Fern in the corner. Jin spinning neckbreakers Fern and knee drops him for 2. Jin chinlocks him. Fern takes a double team ending in a kick. Fern ddt's Drew. Both tag out. Diego springboard chops Jin. He spinning heel kicks him then flying forearms him.

Diego monkey flips Jin. Jin's throat is pulled over the top rope. Diego top rope mongolian chops Drew. El Torito flying headscissors Heath Slater from the apron outside. Jin takes a codebreaker. Jin then takes a gamengiri + legsweep combo and is pinned.

Thoughts: It was a fast paced bout here and got a lot of time. It was fine and totally okay for this type of show. I liked the face's finisher here.

Overall thoughts: There were only 2 new matches as usual. Both were fine but neither were must see. Nat/Summer didn't get a lot of time but they did alright. The men's match got a lot of time and was alright.

WWE Superstars 1/17/2014

Last week's show is here: https://prowresblog.blogspot.com/2025/08/wwe-superstars-1102014.html

Tom Phillips and Alex Riley are on commentary.

Xavier Woods vs Brodus Clay

Woods comes out with The Funkadactyl's and R-Truth. He dances with the girls. R-Truth joins the commentary team for this. Clay is in a pinstripe suit.

They lock up and Woods is pushed back. Woods hits leg kicks and punches. Woods slides through the legs and dropkicks him. Clay battering rams him over. Clay elbow drops him. Clay hits a heart punch.

Clay hits shots to the back and corner splashes Woods. Clay elbow drops Woods then backbreakers him over the shoulder. Clay lariats Woods down. Clay backbreakers Woods. Clay hits punches to the gut. Woods enzugiri's him.

Woods dropkicks Clay in the knee. Woods hits punches and discus punches him. Woods low diving forearms him. Woods dropkicks him for 1. Woods is caught off the buckles and Clay exploders him. Clay misses a splash off the buckles. Woods hits a soul foot and wins.

Thoughts: It was short and what we got made sense. Clay used his size and Woods picked up the win off a missed splash. Woods was he underdog here. I thought this worked.

The Primetime Players (Darren Young and Titus O'Neil) vs 3MB (Drew McIntyre and Jinder Mahal)

Heath Slater is with 3MB. Titus and Jin go at it. Titus chops him in the corner and throws him. DY is thrown into a spear on Jin. Jin is dropped on DY's knee for 2. Jin jawbreakers him. DM chops DY then DY lariats him. DY atomic drops DM then powerslams him for 2.

DY side headlocks DM. Titus hits shots on DM and chest clubs him. DM chops Titus, talks trash and is lariated over. Titus slams DM and DY is dropped gut first on DM. The heels go out.

We go to break and return. DY top rope punches DM in the gut. DY is thrown shoulder first into the post. Jin stomps on DY outside. Jin head and chinlocks DY. Jin knee drops DY and knee chokes him. DM arm throws DY for 2. DM armlocks DY.

DY takes a double kick to the ribs. Jin double underhook suplexes DY. Jin armlocks DY. DY overhead belly to belly suplexes him. Titus comes in and knocks the heels down. Titus goes up and over DM then facekicks him. Titus corner splashes DM then slams him for 2. DY hits hits a fireman's carry gutbuster on Jin. DM flying knees DY. Titus sky high's DM and wins.

Thoughts
: It was acceptable but not much more. The Players aren't the greatest faces ever and they stuck to simple stuff here.

Overall thoughts: There were only 2 new matches as usual here. Both were fine but neither were must see. I wouldn't recommend it, but it's not like it was bad. I'd argue Woods/Clay was the better match on this.

Next week's show is here: https://prowresblog.blogspot.com/2026/01/wwe-superstars-4192014.html

We get a graphic for The Ultimate Warrior, who passed away recently.

Curtis Axel is with Ry. Ry boots him off the lock up. DZ ducks a shot and slides out. Ry misse a lariat and DZ works the arm. DZ ducks lariats then dropkicks him. DZ is thrown into the buckles and then is dropped throat first on the top rope. Ry 2nd rope splashes him for 2. Ry stomps him and we go to break.

DZ dropkicks him then hits a jumping ddt for 2. Axel tries to interfere, gets hit then Ry hits a big powerbomb on DZ. Ry then hits a shell shock and wins.

Thoughts: It was a solid match here with both guys trying hard. Ry took a bump to the outside and took a big face buster from the top. Dolph took a big powerbomb here and did his usual big bumps. This got a bunch of time too. It was a good big man vs small man match.

Kofi Kingston vs Titus O'Neil

Kofi ducks a lock up and leg kicks him. Kofi hits more kicks to the body and is shoved down. Titus misses an elbow drop and is side headlocked. Titus shoulders him over. Kofi flying back elbows him for 1.

Kofi side headlocks him again. Kofi goes up and over then Titus facekicks him. Titus chops him in the corner. Kofi chops back. Titus backbreakers him then throws him. Kofi 2nd rope twisitng legdrops him. Kofi dropkicks him then flying lariats him. Kofi does his boom legdrop.

Titus back elbows him. Kofi double jump twisting crossbodies him for 2. Kofi is dropped throat first on the buckles. Titus hits a sky high and pins him.

Thoughts:
Kofi seemed to injure himself on the twisting crossbody. He held his knee and the match ended soon after with Kofi not looking 100%. It wasn't much of note and seemed to end early due to injury.

Overall thoughts:
There were only 2 matches here along with various recaps. Ryback/Dolph was solid with Ry really going all out. Titus/Kofi seemed to end abruptly due to a Kofi injury and wasn't much of a note. Ryback/Dolph was about as good as you are going to see on this show and was a neat little watch. It maybe could be worth a look out of curiosity.

Overall thoughts: There was only one new match here as they had a lot of recaps and hyped up Mania. The one match we got was fine but nothing great. I wouldn't recommend this one.

Emma puts her in the tarantula then low crossbodies her in the corner. Emma indian deathlocks her and Sum taps out.

Thoughts: It was a short one, too short to really develop into anything. They did what they could but they just didn't have enough time here. Emma had some unusual and unorthodox offense in this one.

R-Truth and Xavier Woods vs 3MB (Drew McIntyre and Jinder Mahal)

Jin wristlocks Truth. Truth side headlocks him then shoulders him over. Truth dances at him Truth drops down and Woods flying forearms Jin off the buckles. Drew clubs on Woods. Woods goes up and over him then dropkicks him. Drew takes a double hiptoss then a basement dropkick and legdrop.

Truth fights out of an armlock from Drew. Truth leg lariats Drew. Woods is tagged in and hits shots on Jin. Woods flying headscissors Jin and legsweeps him. Woods running knees him for 2. Truth plancha's the heels outside. Woods headflips into a lariat on Jin. Woods hits soul foot on Jin and pins him.

Thoughts
: It was an acceptable match. Both sides got some offense in and the faces eventually picked up the win here as they usually do on this show. Truth was pretty agile in this one.

Overall thoughts: There were only 2 new matches as usual here. The women didn't get much time for their match. The men got more time and it was acceptable but nothing you need to see. I wouldn't recommend this one.

Next week's show is here: https://prowresblog.blogspot.com/2025/12/wwe-superstars-3282014.html

Natalya vs Alicia Fox

Fox wristlocks her. Fox takes her down from the double knuckle lock. Nat flips her into a pin attempt. They bridge up together and Nat backslides her for 2. Fox backrolls into a headscissors on her.

Nat backrolls and then headflips right into a facekick from Fox. Nat's face is banged off the mat. Fox chinlocks her then throws her down backwards. Fox northern lights suplexes her for 2. Fox chinlocks her. Nat hits elbows to the gut. Fox tries a tilt-a-whirl but Nat presses her off of it for a 1 count. Fox kicks her then Nat spinning lariats her. Nat then sharpshooters her and Fox taps out.

Thoughts
: This was oddly pretty good. Everyone hit their stuff clean and I liked the headflip into the facekick spot. They kept this short too which helped this. They just found a good rhythm in this one and ended it before they lost the beat.

Jerry Lawler interviews Natalya after on the stage. She says it feels amazing to win. King congratulates her on another win and another season of Total Divas. He asks what we can expect next season. She says it will be full of surprises and says redemption is sweet. She says Summer Rae thinks she can slap her but doesn't know what a slap is until she is done with her. Nat says she's Natty by nature, naughty by choice and made in the dungeon.

R-Truth and Xavier Woods vs 3MB (Jinder Mahal and Drew McIntyre)

Jin wristlocks Woods. Woods rolls out and takes him down by the arm. Woods stomps Jin's arm into the mat. Jin forearms him then Woods dropkicks him for 2.

Drew suplexes Woods for then armlocks him. Drew knees him in the gut then Woods gets a 2 count on him. Drew lariats him for 2. Jin stomps on Woods then neckbreakers him. Jin arm and chinlocks Woods. Woods rolls Jin, sending him face first into the mat.

Truth and Drew get in. Truth hits lariats and goes up and over. Truth splits out of a lariat and hits a leg lariat. Truth corner splashes Drew then sitout gordbusters him for 2. Jin is back body dropped out.

Drew hits Woods from behind. Heath Slater distracts Truth on the apron. Drew kicks Heath when Truth moves. Truth flatliners Drew and wins.

Thoughts: It was your usual Superstars match. Nothing too memorable or must see but totally fine for what it was and satisfying enough. This also got plenty of time to play out.

Overall thoughts: There were only 2 new matches and a quick interview here along with various recaps.  Both matches were fine and I'd argue the women's match was actually better than the main. They just had a good flow and ended it at the right time. You don't need to see this one but it was a quick and decent watch as it usually is.

Next week's show is here: https://prowresblog.blogspot.com/2025/11/wwe-superstars-3212014.html

Sin flying headsissors him then handspring back elbows him for 2. Sin enzugiri's him from the apron. Sin misses a top rope swanton and is superkicked. ADR then pins him.

Thoughts: It wasn't quite as good as it should have been. It was just average and neither guy really went all out here.

Dolph Ziggler vs Fandango

Summer Rae is with Fan. Fan shoulders DZ over and struts. Fan back elbows him and hits punches. DZ hits a dropkick then is back body dropped over the top to the floor.

We go to break and return. DZ flips out of a back body drop and is knee'd in the gut for 2. Fan chokes him on the ropes and Summer Rae slaps DZ. Fan bangs DZ's headoff the buckles then throws him hard into the corner.

DZ hits shots to the gut and head and Fan hits a nice spinning heel kick for 2. DZ crossbodies him and hits mounted shots. DZ hits mounted corner punches. Fan rolls him up for 2 off a fameasser attempt. DZ then fameassers him for 2.

Fan blocks a zigzag and Fan falcon arrows him for 2. DZ crawls through his legs then hits a zigzag and wins.

Thoughts: Dolph put on a good show here. He really bumped around and tried hard to make Fan look good. Fan looked alright here and they got Summer Rae briefly involved. It was acceptable.

Overall thoughts: There were only 2 new matches here with various recaps. Neither match was great and both could have been a little better. ADR/Sin Cara was a bit disappointing and Fandango/Dolph was the better match here. I wouldn't recommend this one.

Next week's show is here: https://prowresblog.blogspot.com/2025/11/wwe-superstars-3142014.html

Byron Saxon and Tom Phillips are on commentary.

Titus O'Neil vs Zack Ryder

They lock up and Titus backs him up in the corner. Zack ducks a shot. Zack hits punches and boots him out of the corner. Titus catches his crossbody with backbreakers then he just throws him. Titus short arm clotheslines him then elbow drops him.

Titus misses an elbow drop. Titus is hanging over the 2nd rope and Zack kicks him. Zack 2nd rope dropkicks him from behind. Zack wants a broski boot and Titus slides out. Zack boots him between the ropes.

Titus hits a big sky high and wins.

Thoughts: Titus did a lot of the small things well but not much else here. It got enough time and wasn't anything too special.

Los Matadores (Diego & Fernando) vs Ryback and Curtis Axel

Fern has the arm sleeve on here and Diego doesn't.

Ry and a Matador lock up. Ry holds him for a shot from Axel. Axel hits punches and chops. Axel leapfrogs and runs into a dropkick. Axel takes chops in the corner. Diego handstands in the corner and spinning headscissors Axel.

Diego knees him in the gut, flips over his back and Axel takes a high/low from the faces for 2. Axel hits corner spears on Fern. Fern hits chops in the corner. Ry boots Fern, Fern stops him and says "ole". Fern knocks him into the buckles. The faces do a double monkey flip on Ry then a double dropkick on Axel. Ry is double lariated over the top.

Ryback goes after Torito then takes a 2nd rope twisting swanton on the outside. Fern rolls up Axel and gets the pin.

Thoughts: It went a bit long for what it was but it was fine. The faces flew around a bit and the heels were in control for a lot of this. Ryback going after Torito is always good for a pop with me.

Jerry Lawler interviews Los Matadores on the stage. Fern says they were getting ready and said Lawler and Torito are alike. He says it's because Torito is horny. Lawler said he thought he'd be interviewing the heels but they pulled off an upset. Diego says they love to be the underdogs and show everyone that they are the greatest team. Diego says they beat Rybaxel today and next time they are interviewed, they might be the tag champs.

Overall thoughts:
There were only 2 new matches usual along with a Lawler interview and various recaps. Neither match was anything too great. The tag match was easily the better match. I wouldn't recommend this one.

DS boots Kofi out of the corner. Kofi double jump crossbodies him for 2. DS clips Kofi and Kofi grabs a surprise pin to win.

Thoughts
: It was an alright match here. Sandow wasn't screwing around and was pretty aggressive here. He hit a bunch of punches on Kofi and didn't do so many cute moves. Kofi did his flying as usual and was fine here.

Jerry Lawler interviews Kofi Kingston on the stage. He asks how big the victory was. Kofi says every victory you get is huge. He says the crowd was amazing and it's all about momentum. He says he hopes it's the start of his road to Mania.

Cody Rhodes, Goldust & Los Matadores (Diego & Fernando) vs 3MB (Drew McIntyre & Jinder Mahal), Curtis Axel & Ryback

Ry and Gold go at it. Ry boots him in the gut and clubs his back. Gold armdrags him then takes a knee to the gut. Ry wristlocks him. Gold boots him then hits an uppercut. All 8 men fight.

Heath Slater gets on the apron and Drew pulls him down. Torito then diving headscissors Heath. Cody hits a cross rhodes on Drew and picks up the pin.

Thoughts:
I liked it. It was a fun tag and there was nothing wrong with it. They even got Torito into the fray on this one. The faces got the win as expected and it was neat to see young Cody vs young Drew.

Overall thoughts: There were only 2 new matches here as usual along with recaps plus a rare Lawler interview with Kofi on the stage. Both matches were fine and it was a decent episode of Superstars.

Curt slingshot elbow drops him while he lays on the apron. Curt pulls Cody's neck forward. Curt armlocks Cody. Cody armdrags him then Curt hits a big lariat for 2. Curt running knees him for 2.

Curt chops him in the corner. Curt is knocked off the 2nd rope and Cody top rope moonsaults him. Curt misses a corner splash. Cody hits lariats. Cody goes up and over with a sunset flip.

Cody drop down punches Curt then springboard dropkicks Curt. Cody kicks him in the gut. Ryback is on the apron and takes a disaster kick from Cody. Cody then hits cross rhodes on Curt to win.

Thoughts: This was a long one surprisingly. The work was fine though. Cody did a lot more flying here than usual and was significantly bigger than usual.

The Bella Twins (Nikki and Brie Bella) and Natalya vs Eva Marie, Summer Rae and Tamina Snuka

Sum and Tam fight over who gets in. Sum then does a dance and dares Nikki to do one. Nikki does the worm and bangs Sum's face off her knee. Nikki snapmares her. Nat then basement dropkicks Sum. Nat lariats Sum then Nikki basement dropkicks Sum. Tam boots Nikki on the ropes.

Thoughts: It was a short one but I liked it. They kept it moving and the faces won. I don't think Eva got in at all here. The work wasn't the cleanest as usual but there were no botches.

Overall thoughts: There were only 2 new matches as usual here among various recaps. Cody vs Axel got a ton of time but it was alright. Cody did a lot of flying around in it. The women's trios match was something different but I liked it. They kept it short and there weren't any bad botches. As always, there's nothing you have to see here but what we got was fine.

Next week's show is here: https://prowresblog.blogspot.com/2025/10/wwe-superstars-2212014.html

Tom Phillips and Byron Saxton are on commentary.

Natalya vs Tamina Snuka

Tam htis her in the gut and armlocks her. Tam pulls her down by the hair. Nat goes up and over then backrolls her for 2. Tam hits a nice running clothesline. Tam goes for a mounted punch and is tripped. Tam then stomps on Nat and throws her vest at her.

Tam grabs her then Nat cradles her for 2. Tam knees her in the gut. Nat pushes her down and sharpshooters her. Tam then submits.

Thoughts: I kind of liked this. It wasn't great or anything but Tamina was effective as the tough heel. Nat moved well and was a likeable face in this. The crowd also got into this which helped it.

Drew McIntyre vs Big E. Langston

Drew side headlocks him then Big shoulders him over. Big back body drops him. Drew hits boots and clubs. Big catches his crossbody then hits backbreakers for 2.

Big hits corner spears. Drew hits punches and Big hits a hard flying shoulder. Drew avoids the big ending and slides out of the ring. We go to break and return. Big's throat is pulled down over the top. Drew hits headbutts.

Big hits an overhead belly to belly suplex. Big hits a hard corner spear then misses one and goes into the post shoulder first. Drew single arm ddt's him for 2. Drew amrlocks him.

Big rams him backwards into the buckles then Drew hits a clayore kick for 2. Drew back elbows him then hits a short arm lariat. Drew thrusts at Big. Big hits him in the gut then Drew lariats him for 2. Drew armlocks him.

Drew hits a nice dropkick then kips up. Drew stomps on him then armlocks him. Drew knees him in the gut. Drew clubs on Big's chest from the 2nd rope. Big throws him off the buckles. Big hits lariats and belly to belly suplexes Drew. Big hits a big splash. Jinder Mahal is on the apron and Big elbows him. Big then hits a big ending and gets the pin on Drew to win.

Thoughts:
It went a little long and had a small boring spell but I liked it. Big E looked big and bad here and hit some lethal looking corner spears. Drew worked a bit faster than usual and did what he was supposed to do. These two obviously deserve better than being stuck on this show.

Overall thoughts: There were only 2 new matches as usual along with some recaps. I liked both matches here. Tamina was effective as a big and bad heel vs Natalya and Natalya did fine as the underdog. Drew/Big E was solid TV work. Big E hit some great looking corner spears and Drew sped things up a bit more than usual and did his part. There's nothing must see here, but you can get through the new content pretty quick and I enjoyed this one.

WWE Superstars 1/24/2014

Next week's show is here: https://prowresblog.blogspot.com/2026/01/wwe-superstars-1312014.html

Tom Phillips and Alex Riley are on commentary.

Alicia Fox vs Brie Bella

Brie has Nikki Bella with her and Fox has Aksana with her. Brie slides at her and does a single leg crab. Fox ropebreaks. Brie flying side headlock takeovers her. Fox shoves her and Brie hits forearms. Fox throws her out. Brie slaps her from the outside then Fox tilt-a-whirl backbreakers her for 2.

Fox northern lights suplexes her for 2. Fox snapmares her and chinlocks her. Fox then hits a lariat for 2. Fox rams her in the corner then hits a corner spear. Brie boots her out of the corner then slips off the 2nd rope with a diving shoulder maybe. Fox gets a 2 count then pulls Brie's arms back.

Brie throws her over then hits a pair of dropkicks. Fox slides out and Brie pulls her back in. Brie hits knees to the head then swinging facebusters her. Aksana distracts Brie and Brie is swept off the 2nd rope. Nikki boots Aksana, sends her into the rails then hits a backbreaker. Brie running knees Fox. Brie facebusters her and wins.

Thoughts:
It wasn't that good with Brie and Fox not doing a ton and not looking that good doing it. This was all very simple offense and Brie still ended up slipping off the 2nd rope here.

Torito double jump crossbodies Jinder and Heath outside.

Drew takes an enzugiri from Cara then Cara top rope swantons him for the win.

Thoughts: It didn't really get enough time and wasn't anything too special. The Matadores got very little offense in here and we didn't see Cara until the finishing stretch. This should have been better than it was.

Overall thoughts: There were only 2 new matches as usual along with a bunch of recaps. Neither match was that good with the women's match being bad and the men's match was nowhere near what it should have been. I would not recommend this one.
