WWE NXT 2.0 9/6/2022

WWE NXT 2.0 9/6/2022

Tyler Bate came out. He thanked everyone and said he created magic with Bron Breakker. He said he hoped he had represented NXT UK well then Gallus came out. They said Bate should be apologizing for letting the UK and NXT UK down. They asked what happened to the big strong boy and Bate said he noticed they didn't win either. They ended up fighting and Gallus beat him up. Bron Breakker came out for the save and they cleared off Gallus. Bron said he would join Tyler in the fight and kick the @sses of Gallus.

Pretty Deadly were looking at the titles they won and said they are the greatest tag team of all time. Lash Legend walked in and high five'd them. Lash said that people were saying Damon Kemp was the only reason they won and PD got mad. They said they needed to get the titles framed.

We saw Meiko Satomura being interviewed. She said she is disappointed about losing her title. Cora Jade walked in and kind of mocked her then said she had done a lot in wrestling but hadn't experienced the Generation of Jade. Jade accused her of being scared when she said she couldn't accept. Meiko said she already had a match against Roxanne Perez.

Toxic Attraction (Gigi Dolin and Jacy Jayne) vs Nikki A.S.H. and Doudrop

Gigi has her head banged off the buckles to start then is lariated by Ash. Doudrop headbutts her then Ash neckbreakers her. Jacy rolls up Ash for 2 then Ash lariats and bulldogs her for 2. Ash is pushed off the top to the floor by Jacy then Jacy cannonballs her off the apron. Doudrop goes after Jacy and is kicked hard off the apron by Gigi.

We go to PiP break and return. Gigi bronco busters her then Jacy cannonballs her for 2. Jacy neckbreakers Ash and misses a senton. Gigi and Doudrop get in. Gigi superkicks her then Jacy is thrown on her. Doudrop then sentons both on top of each other for 2. Doudrop backdrops Gigi then cannonballs her. Ash grabs Jacy from the outside and puts her in the ring skirt as she pounds on her. Gigi is caught and drivered by Doudrop then Doudrop splashes her for the win.

Doudrop busted her nose near the end of this. This wasn't particular special and I didn't have much interest in this one. I really can't believe Ash and Doudrop are still doing these bad gimmicks with HHH in charge.

We get an Apollo Crews segment. He is looking over water and writing in a book. He talks about Grayson Waller and said he poked him in the eye on purpose. Apollo Crews says he can't see the future now because of the eye poke and has a red eye. He says he is not afraid of the unknown.

JD McDonagh vs Wes Lee

JD side headlocks him and shoulders him over. Wes hits armdrags then does a cartwheel and flip over him. JD pulls him down headfirst by the hair then footchokes him. Wes then tope con hilo's him outside. We go to PiP break and return to JD putting him in an armhold. Wes hits a strike combo on him then double stomps his back. Wes topes him outside and JD rolls over the table.

Wes meteora's him for 2 and back kicks him. Wes hits a high knee and is headbutted. JD pulls him up into a saito suplex and gets the win.

I wasn't a big fan of this. It just didn't have that much build to it and wasn't anything too special. It felt like something from the Black and Gold era of NXT.

Tony was drinking coffee with Stacks. Pretty Deadly walks in and are offered expresso. Tony asks them how much their win costs. They accused PD of paying Damon to turn on Diamond Mine. PD said they did it on their own and got mad. PD said they are just like the people online then Tony D and Stacks mocked them.

Next week is the 1 year anniversary of NXT 2.0. What a year it has been too with NXT having one of the best rookie crops ever.

Meiko Satomura vs Roxanne Perez

Cora Jade was shown watching in the back. Meiko armdrags Perez early then Perez rolls and kips up out of a wristlock. Perez is tripped and they shoulder battle. Meiko flying shoulders her then handstand knee drops her. Meiko armbars her then Perez armdrags her. Perez backrolls into a hurricanrana roll-up thne Perez did a handstand into a headscissors.

Meiko has her in a grounded choke then Perez rolls into an STF. Perez basement dropkicks her then topes her. We go to PiP break and return. Meiko hit a cartwheel knee during the break and then pulled both her arms back as we returned. They trade euro upperkicks and Perez hits double axe handle shots. Perez dropkicks her then takes a high kick. Perez russian legsweeps her for 2 then Meiko spinning heel kicks her. Perez hurricanrana's her from the top for 2.

Meiko pele kicks her then does her scorpio rising shining axe kick to win it.

It was a decent match with Perez holding up well against Meiko.

Cora Jade attacks Perez with a stick after the match and Meiko runs in to back her off.

Bate and Bron talk in the back. Bate thanks him for his help earlier. Bron says Bate is NXT and says let's kick Gallus' @ss tonight.

Damon Kemp talks. He says the whole world was talking about him, but that's not how he started in NXT. He said the Creed's became tag champs and he got little thanks. He says Roddy didn't put him in singles matches. He said winning was in his DNA and said he beat Brutus in college. He said he saw the Roddy and Julius beef coming and he decided to stir things up and take down Diamond Mine. He said he destroyed Roddy in the parking lot and said the Creed's still shot him down and wouldn't accept him. He said him attacking Julius meant the end of Diamond Mine. He said it's not Diamond Mine forever, but Damon Kemp forever. Not a classic or anything, but it was fine.

The Schism make a sales pitch and offer Kiana James a pin. Kiana has her assistant grab one of their pins and says she loves what they are doing. Kiana then throws the pin away and says she doesn't do free sponsorship. Kiana then rips someone on the phone.

Arianna Grace shows up behind her talking. Kiana says she was looking for her and Arianna says she can't stand the same people she can't stand. Kiana then books her for training.

Ricochet vs Trick Williams

Carmelo Hayes is on commentary. Trick is taken out early then Ric attacks him on the outside. Trick is thrown in the ring then Ric flips him by the wrist. Trick hits a cool hook kick and stomps him. Ric is thrown chest first into the buckles. Rick is popped up into a punch.

Trick misses a splash then shakes the ropes as Ric tries to springboard. Ric has his head banged off the table then Trick hits a mcgillicutter neckbreaker for 2. Ric hits flying forearms then springboard twisting crossbodies him. Ric springboard elbows him then hits a single leg codebreaker. Ric top rope SSP's Trick and wins it.

It really wasn't anything special, but it was easily the best match Trick has ever had.

Tony D and Stacks are still drinking expresso. They see Cameron Grimes and try to recruit him. Grimes says no. Tony says the last people who said no to him got run out. Grimes says he isn't like them then Grimes throws the drink at Stacks. Stacks and Tony pound on him then Ric takes a uranage through a table.

We get a Sol Ruca surfing vignette that says she is coming soon.

The Creed Brothers are interviewed. Brutus says he wants to break Kemp's face for what he did. Brutus says he's going to nail him on sight. Brutus says Kemp is a dead man. Pretty Deadly come in. They said no one believes they won fairly so they are going to give the Creed's another shot. They said the WWE Universe can pick the stipulation. Julius says he will take his rage out on them next week.

Best of 3 Series, Match 1 - Nathan Frazer vs Axiom

They made this sound like it would be under Heritage Cup rules, but that is not the case. NF is snapmared then Axiom gets out of his hammerlock. NF armdrags him and Ax holds on. Ax handstand flips out of a wrist throw. NF shoulders him over and they mat wrestle. They both then kip up at the same time and stand off.

Ax takes him down into a side headlock and NF dropkicks him and makes him go out. NF then topes him but trips some over the middle rope. We go to PiP break and return. Ax hammerlocks him with a bridge then high kicks him. Ax armbreakers him then NF falls out over it and is tope'd. Ax top rope crossbodies him for 2. Ax rolls him into a kimura then NF hits a nice spinning neckbreaker.

NF asai moonsaults him into a neckbreaker. NF slingblades him then Ax gets his knees up on a running ssp. Ax triangles him then NF boston crabs him. AX forearms him then jumping sidekicks him for the win.

It was decent with some flying and fast paced action, but I thought they had a much better one between them.

Hank Walker and security are in front of Gallus' locker room. Javier Bernal walks in and mocks them. He says he has been blowing minds and kissing dimes. Javier says he is a big time star and says Hank is just a security guard. Hank says he may not be a superstar but will whoop him anyday.

We get a Quincy Elliot package. He says he is about to set fire to Tuesday nights. We see him riding a mopad and he says he is bringing all of this to NXT.

Trick and Melo are interviewed. Trick says he is taller, stronger and looks better than Ricochet even though he lost. Melo talks about the Anniversary Show and says he is the face of NXT. He is surprised when he finds out he has an opponent and isn't happy that the WWE Universe is picking his opponent next week. Melo asks how he can pick his opponent instead and McKenzie says he can vote.

Tyler Bate and Bron Breakker vs Gallus (Joe and Mark Coffey)

Joe and Bron start us off. They shoulder battle and Bron hits a hard lariat on him. Bate 2nd rope flips over Bron's shoulders to hit a senton atomico on Joe. Bate is lifted into a double chop. Mark armdrags Bate and Bate rolls into a side headlock on him. Bate rolls into a headflip and dropkick on Mark. Bate and Bron stereo suplex their opponents then both kip up and both standing moonsault them. They then do the Steiner Brothers pose and Bate does his own pose with it.

We go to PiP break and return. Bate headscissors Mark and dropkicks him out. Bate then topes Mark outside. Wolf grabs Bate when the ref isn't looking and throws him into the post. Joe backbreakers Bate. Bate is back body dropped into an elbow drop. Joe suplexes Bate then bearhugs him. Bate fights out of a single leg crab then goes under Joe to tag out. Bron gets in and hits shoulders on Joe then powerslams him. Bron belly ot belly suplexes Joe then spinebusters Mark.

Bate hits a top rope bulldog as Mark is on Bron's shoulders. Wolfgang is on the apron and is hit by Bate then Bron spears Joe. Bate lariats Mark then tiger drivers him for the win.

Wasn't great or anything but it was a solid and not too long main event.

JD McDonagh comes out and attacks Bate and Bron after. Bate is left laying then JD runs away as Bron comes after him.

Overall thoughts: We were told there would be changes to NXT 2.0 and it sure felt like we saw some of them here. This was a wrestling heavy episode and it was light on younger wrestlers. It was a decent episode, but felt more like a Black and Gold Era NXT show than NXT 2.0. While I did like NXT UK, I don't really think a lot of the guys really fit in that well. The roster is just so much physically bigger and the NXT UK guys are not coming off that well.
