WWE NXT UK 1/20/2022

NXT UK is a a little tough for me to catch. They air it once usually and then you can't really see it on any WWE services for a while after. 

 

Also worth noting that NXT UK is really not an easy show to pop into and be able to follow along, so I'll do my best here.

We saw clips of Sam Gradwell searching for partners. He tweeted at Stone Cold and Elon Musk and bugged people like Nathan Frazier and A-Kid. Frazier grilled him for some of the things he said to him. He ended up finding Saxon Huxley.

Pd got bullied around early. Saxon crossbodied Stoker against the ropes and tried again but Howley pulled him out of the way. PD then dropped Huxley body first over the top rope. PD kept control then Sam got the hot tag and cleaned house. Gradwell came off the 2nd rope and ate euro uppercut from Stoker.

Kenny Williams came to ringside and was climbing on the rails. He then ambushed Saxon. Sam went looking for the tag but Saxon was down and then he got hit with a PD bearhug + neckbreaker combo. I thought the big guys took too much here and didn't bully around PD enough, but PD looked a lot better here than they did last time I saw them.

Jinny did a promo on I think Amale. She said the fans pity her and said she is nothing.

They did a package for Die Familie vs Gallus for next week. Die Familie must be german for No Dimes, because that group looks like they suck.

Blair Davenport got a vignette. She said she came from a long line of Davenports and they only care about themselves. She said Meiko Satomura should fear her.

Emilia McKenzie vs Isla Dawn

Isla hit a nice Saito suplex here and really bullied around EM early. EM came back startng with a sunset flip off the top then hit some forearms and a big spear for 2. EM dropkicked Isla out and hit a suicide dive on her. EM missed a crossbody from the top and took a TKO variation for the loss. EM busted her lip during this. This wasn't too long but they kept it action packed and it ended up being okay. Isla gave her the watch she took from her back.

Amale did a video package on Jinny. She said she is hope and hope never dies.

Ilja Dragunov also did a quick package then Jordan Devlin followed. He said he fights for himself only and wants the NXT UK title. Jordan suggested Ilja take him on in an empty arena match.

Heritage Cup - Noam Dar vs A-Kid

 

This is under Heritage Cup Rules with 6 3-minute rounds. Kid had a nice kip-up into a dropkick here. He was sat on the ropes and Dar tried to dive at him but missed and went tumbling out. Later on, Kid had his legs hung up in the ropes and Dar kicked hard in the face. Dar was up 1 fall to nothing inn the 4th round but Dar ducked a dive to the outside and Kid did a suicide dive into the rails. Dar's second Sha Samuels stood up on the apron and Kid used him to hit a tornado DDT and tie things up. Sha had bet that Dar would win this 2-0 and ripped up some of his money as he saw that wouldn't happen. Kid then did a butterfly suplex off the top on him in the 5th round. Both desperately tried for submissions and pin attempts to take it home in the 5th round but the 1 to 1 fall score stayed tied as we headed into the 6th and final round. Kid tope'd Sha Samurels early in the 6th round and rolled back in to heel hook Dar. Dar came back with a big spinning back elbow to Kid. Kid then hit a flying kick for 2 and ducked a kick only to get a uraken. Kid had a rings of saturn variation on Dar but time ran out and the match ended in a 1-1 draw for Dar to retain the cup. This got better as it went on and the draw finish was fine here. There wasn't a great story to it but  it ended up being good.

 

Overall thoughts: As I said, I think NXT UK is a tough show to follow if you aren't regularly watching, which I haven't been the main ended up being decent and Dawn/McKenzie was decent as well.
