MLW Fusion #115

MLW Fusion #115

Last week's show is here: https://prowresblog.blogspot.com/2020/12/mlw-fusion-114.html

They did a nice little package on the history of the Opera Cup.

The Dirty Blondes with Aria Black vs  Ariel Dominguez and Daniel Starling

Brien pops Starling hard to start and then boots him hard in the face. Ariel tries to get in and gets a boot too. The Blondes hit a double elbow then a bunch of other elbows after. Brien does a top rope powerslam and wins it in a quick one.

Hammerstone was interviewed in the back. He said he was able to train harder due to being put on the shelf. Hammerstone says he's worse than the monster that Mads Krugger is. He swore he would put him down with a Nightmare Pendulum at MLW Colusseum. He said Mads is just an obstacle between him and Jacob Fatu.

Low-Ki was interviewed. He said he worked hard to get here. He said he knows Lawlor's weaknesses. He said Tom has run his course and he will be bringing prestige back to the sport.

Myron Reed did an interview. He said Lio Rush is running from him. He said Rush won't be a moneyweight, but a brokeweight and a littlweight after he beats him.

Contra cut in to the promo segment. Mads Krugger said he was the black hand of Contra but it was hard to hear.

They did the PWI rankings. Alexander Hammerstone was #1 again.

We got a segment with L.A. Park working out. They called the Dirty Blondes obese pigs and didn't like that they didn't have a title shot. Park said he had been there since the beginning and said they will leave if they don't get a shot at the tag titles soon.

Opera Cup Finals - Tom Lawlor vs Low-Ki

The finish

They did inset promos. Tom said when he wins the Opera Cup, he's going to Filthy Island to get away. Ki said Lawlor isn't getting away like he did in Philly and Orlando.

Lawlor stretches Ki with a bow and arrow and single crab early. Lawlor tries to choke Ki but Ki rolls out.  They do a lot of grappling here. Tom ankle locks Ki. Ki reaches for the ropes but Tom switches to his arms so he can't. Ki gets gutwrenched and as they continue on the mat, Ki double stomps him.

They finally get up and Ki kicks and euro uppercuts Tom. Ki then hits the flashing elbow for 2. Ki headscissors Tom, but he gets out of it and indian deathlocks him. Ki throws some kicks and Lawlow grabs his leg, so he spinkicks him with the other leg. Lawlor goes out. Lawlor comes back in and backbreaker's him. Lawlor pounds on him in the corner with forearms. Ki gets tilt-a-whirled and lands on Tom's back with a dragon sleeper. Lawlor grabs the ropes with his teeth. Lawlor sharpshooters him but Ki hits the ropes.

Tom kicks the leg and dragon screw's Ki, then figure four's him. Ki chops the knee to try and get out and Tom puts on an armlock to go along with the figure four. Ki gets out and starts hitting some elbows. Ki springboards off the second rope and hits a kick. Ki pounds on Tom with kicks and does the Kawada kicks to the head. Ki jumps on Lawlor but gets speared and thrown hard down.

Ki hits a hard Ki Krusher but hits it at the ropes and can't capitalize. Ki does a John Woo to him in the corner and does a koppo kick to him, but Lawlor lands in the corner and falls on Ki to win!

Neat ending here. Like a lot of Lawlor matches, the first half or so is a bunch of technical ground work that doesn't really go anywhere. It's not that it is bad, just you can kind of skip it. This was a long one at 25 minutes straight, which is a little tough without the crowd. I think the match probably could have been shortened and not much would have been lost.

Overall thoughts: This show was 1 match, 1 squash and maybe 2 or 3 promos and lets be honest, if you just saw the main only, you pretty much saw the whole show. I wouldn't really go out of my way to see this.
