| You know how they have heavyweight titles and various trophies like King of the Ring or G1 Climax? They should just have a Meng title for being the baddest dude on the planet. |
Meng beat Terrance Black in around 4 minutes here with the Tongan Death Grip. This was an awesome squash. They did a 1997 version of a Takayama/Frye punchout. Black did not really sell and I think they legit were nailing each other. Meng then returned the favor and beat up on Black hard. Black got a nice splash in the corner then got busted with the Death Grip for the win.
This was one of the most effective 4 minute matches I've ever seen and had this happened on a Nitro or a PPV, Black would have made himself a name. Promoters usually like to put skinny wimpy dudes in squashes, but sometimes having legit looking dudes like Black works a lot better. And it makes sense. Are you more impressed if Wrestler A takes down a Marko Stunt or are you more impressed if Wrestler A takes down a giant or some jacked dude? Clearly the latter...just if you have dudes who look tough, it wouldn't make sense to job them.
