AEW Rampage 11/10/2023

AEW Rampage 11/10/2023

Last week's show is here: https://prowresblog.blogspot.com/2023/11/aew-rampage-1132023.html

Ricky Starks vs Preston Vance

This doesn't strike me as being anything special. They lock up and push each other. Vance hits a bunch of shots in the corner then Starks does the same. Starks goes up and over in the corner then takes a pump kick. Starks rolls outside then is thrown into the rails. Vance is thrown into the post. Big Bill talks on the headset at the commentary booth then Starks takes his headset and talks.

Vance is sent into the rail again and again. Starks suplexes him on the ramp and we go to PiP break. We return and Starks legdrops him on the apron. Vance flying shoulders him off the 2nd rope and hits lariats. Vance spinebusters him then Starks tornado ddt's him off the ropes.

Starks takes a back body drop then Vance cradle shocks him for 2. Starks drops down out of a full nelson and rolls him up then Vance hits another cradle shock. Big Bill distracts Vance then Starks hits a flying spear to win.

It was an average match with a lame and unnecessary finish. Vance's cradle shocks did not look good.

Vance is stomped by Bill and Ricky after. LFI then make the save and the heels back off.

Renee interviews Chris Jericho in the back. Jericho talks about Takeshita as he's fighting him in DDT on Sunday. He said KT is facing one of the best wrestlers in the business and has attacked him multiple times. He said he is going to get his revenge on him and will teach him a less in front of his friends and family. He said he's been to Japan 60 times and has done it all. He said he's better than KT and says he will show him what it's like to be in the ring with an angry Chris Jericho. He said he will gt his revenge on him.

Lexi interviews Don Callis and Prince Nana. Don is asked who the 4th member will be for the street fight next week. Lexi asks Nana what he's doing here and Nana said he's doing his due diligence. Don says Sammy Guevara is on the shelf and says Jericho will be taken care of by KT this weekend. Don says he will rent the services of Brian Cage for the streetfight on Dynamite.

Jeff Jarrett and friends are interviewed by Lexi. Jeff said Lexi is asking questions she has no business asking. Jeff said he embarassed Eddie in Memphis and says when Jay faces Eddie, he will be the new ROH champ. Jay Lethal says he will prove to the world that he outclasses him in every possible way. Ortiz walks in and says they had a lot to say about him. Karen Jarrett says he's talking a big game for 1 of them vs all of them. KAren says he should watch what he says. Jay says he might get jumped. Ortiz says Jay needs all these people to fight his battles for him. Ortiz says even if they are getting jumped, they go down swinging. He then nails Jay and Singh chokes him on boxes.

Ruby Soho vs Red Velvet

Ooh, this could be bad. Ruby slams her down and messes up her hair. Red tells her to come on then slams her down. Red then does cooking pose to Ruby. Ruby shoulders over Red then does Red's pose. Red leg lariats Ruby then hits punches and boots in the corner. Red foot chokes her in the corner.

Red's head is banged off the middle buckle then Ruby boots her in the gut. Red's head is banged off the top buckle then Red fights out of the corner. Red's throat is rammed into the rope rope and we go to PiP break then full break. We return and Red shoulders her over. Red does a bulldog off the casadora then double knees her against the middle rope. Red standing moonsaults her for 2.

Red takes two superkicks then is hung over the top rope. Ruby running kicks her in the head for 2. Ruby backdrops Red twice then drives her head into the 2nd rope using her legs. An AEW staff member delivers Ruby green roses during the match. Ruby gets distracted and Red rolls her up for 2.

Ruby forearms Red then Red does a running corkscrew kick to win.

I was surprised to see Red win here. It wasn't awful but wasn't that good either. We had multiple very weak looking shots here.

Roderick Strong is wheeled out by The Kingdom. Strong says No Neck November is in full effect. He said it makes sense why the Oakland Raiders left and says Oakland sucks. Strong said he dedicates this match to his best friend Adam Cole.

The Kingdom vs Los Suavicitos

Taven hits a spinning high kick, but his opponent is so small he barely needs to lift his leg. The other jobber takes a death valley driver and a running knee. A jobber is piledriven then takes a powerbomb + jumping russian legsweep. Kingdom win.

Roderick Strong then comes in after and hits a backbreaker.

It was just a short squash and I don't know if it really accomplished anything.

Lexi interviews 2.0 and Daniel Garcia. Garcia says he's sick of being sad and will get back on track. He said he found Andrade El Idolo by browsing the roster page and challenges him for Collision. Menard said if Garcia's head is not on straight, he may be on thin ice. Saraya and Ruby Soho come in with the flowers. Saraya asks what idiot sends flowers at 10:30PM. Menard and Saraya argue with Ruby and Parker give each other loving looks. Saraya and Menard then pull their buddies away and say they have big problems.

Lexi interviews The Kingdom and Roderick Strong. They say it wasn't a huge win. Darius Martin and Action Andretti walk in. Action said they noticed hwo great they looked but didn't look so great the last time they wrestled. Action said they beat them the last time they fought. Taven said he didn't remember them. Darius said he made them bleed before and would do it again. Strong says they talk tough and said he found his first victim - Darius. Lexi then says she doesn't know if Strong is even cleared.

We get a quick video on Komander.

FTR vs Komander and El Hijo del Vikingo

Kom = Komander, Vik = El Hijo del Vikingo

It feels like we haven't seen FTR on a non-Collision show since that show started.

Dax and Kom start us off. Dax hits chops in the corner, snapmares him then shoulders him over. Kom flying headscissors him and dropkicks him. Vik spin kicks Cash in the gut then handsprings and back rolls over him. Vik hook kicks him then enzugiri's him. Vik goes up top and does an imploding 450 hurricanrana on Cash. He dropkicks Cash out and goes to tope him but goes head first into the commentary table.

We go to PiP break and return. They are late to return and we see Kom walk the top rope and jump off of Vik's shoulders outside in PiP only. Vik then asai moonsaults Cash outside. Kom top rope crossbodies Dax but Dax rolls through for 2. Kom spinning high kicks him. Vik kicks Cash off the apron then top rope dropkicks him. Dax takes a hook kick and hurricanrana for 2.

Vik goes up top and is crotched. Vik reverses a top rope superplex then Kom top rope springboard hurricanrana's Cash. Kom and Vik go up top and hit stereo 450's for 2. Kom handsprings but is caught with a gori special drop. Vik corkscrew kicks Cash and Dax fails to catch Vik off the asai moonsault. Dax then lifts Vik and tombstones him for 2.

Dax's slingshot powerbomb is reversed by Vik. Vik then hurricanrana's him off the slingshot powerbomb attempt. Vik tries to hurricanrana Dax off the top but takes a slingshot powerbomb. Kom brings down Cash's neck over the top rope and Dax splashes but gets nothing except the post in his head. Kom tries to walk the top rope into an SSP but Dax moves. FTR hits a big rig and Cash gets the pin.

They had a couple of sloppy moments here and they didn't time their flying moves well with the break. It probably would have been okay without the sloppiness. Maybe next time.

They all hug after. Then the lights go out. The House of Black clap on the tron but don't say anything.

Overall thoughts: It was watchable but nothing must see here. Starks/Vance wasn't that interesting as expected and the main could have been okay, but it had a lot of sloppiness that brought it down.
