WWE NXT Level Up 6/24/2022

Last week's show is here: https://prowresblog.blogspot.com/2022/06/wwe-nxt-level-up-6172022.html

Bryson Montana vs Quincy Elliot

Quincy blows him a kiss and then puts on a headlock. They collide shoulders and Bryson goes down. Bryson then lariats him down for 2. Bryson hits a stiff forearm then does a camel clutch chinlock on him. Bryson then hits a stiff lariat on him. Quincy fights back and hits a wild haymaker before taking a stiff forearm. We go back to the camel clutch chinlock. Bryson then lifts him and puts him in the corner. He goes for a slam but can't get him over and goes down.

Quincy makes his comeback and hits a hard running euro uppercut for 2. Bryson hits too short of a dropkick but Quincy bumps big for it. Quincy then slams him and does a Shigehiro Irie style rebound splash off the ropes to win it.

This was short and really really stiff. They threw some bombs here and I liked this one. This is the most Bryson got to do so far and he did fine. While I hate Quincy's gimmick, he is a really talented dude and would go far if he was serious.

Kiana James vs Brooklyn Barlow

They do a knucklelock to start then Barlow headscissors her. Kiana snapmares her then shoulders her over. Barlow goes for a leg trip and Kiana blocks it but then goes down. Kiana hits some knees to the gut then slams her. Kiana stomps her gut then grounded cobra twists her. Kiana misses an elbow then takes shoulders and a dropkick. Barlow is pulled down by her hair and then takes a corner spear. Kiana then does a gutbuster over the knee and wins it.

It had some rough patches to it but it wasn't awful or anything. Kiana has a lot of work to do yet. Her businesswoman gimmick also didn't work before in NXT when it was previously used and I doubt it will fare any better this time around.

Ikemen Jiro vs Ru Feng

We haven't seen Ru for a long time and they said it was because of an injury. He has a cool look and does a martial arts gimmick.

Ru throws him off early and we are told he calls himself, "The Chinese Dragon". Ru misses a high kick and gets headlocked. Jiro runs into Ru's shoulder and goes down then Jiro trips him and slingshot swantons onto Ru's back. Ru kneebreakers him and stomps on him. Ru and Jiro try to pin each other and Ru leg kicks him to knock him down. Ru bangs Jiro's knee off the mat.

Ru single leg crabs him then Jiro gets out and monkey flips him. Jiro hits some jacket punches then dropkicks Ru in the knee. Jiro then hits a step up enzugiri and wins it.

This wasn't too much of note. Ru worked the knee then Jiro made his comeback and won it. Ru didn't look that great here, but didn't blow anything.

Overall thoughts: It's Level Up. It's rarely must see due to the length and format. The Montana/Elliot match was good though.
