AEW Dark Episode 193 4/25/2023

AEW Dark Episode 193 4/25/2023

Harley Cameron vs Mafiosa

Harley snapmares her then Maf trips her. Harley shoulders her over then takes a back elbow. Mafiosa sunset flips her in the corner and lariats her. Harley hits knees to the gut then a russian leg sweep. Harley grabs her phone and takes a selfie, then bangs Maf's head off the canvas. Maf makes a comeback and corner splashes her. She then lifts her leg up and kicks her while she's behind her. Harley neckbreakers her then hits a backcracker for the win.

Mafiosa kind of got over here and her backwards kick was cool. Harley's the attractive QTV girl and she has only been wrestling a few months. This wasn't that great or anything, but Mafiosa may be worth bringing back again.

Arn Anderson's son, Brock Anderson, did a promo with Brian Pillman Jr. He said they wrestle because it's in their blood and it's all they know. Brian says they don't have a choice with the last names they have and says its the one thing they do best. Brian said they have looks that kill and a lineage that will.

Lee Johnson vs Blake Christian

They armdrag each other then Blake shotgun dropkicks him. Lee goes out and back in. Blake goes up top and is pushed down to the floor. Lee hits punches then throws Blake hard into the buckles. Lee suplexes him for 2. Blake slaps him then hits a backbreaker and an enzugiri. Blake 619's him under the middle rope then does a handspring enzugiri.

Blake hits an alabama slam and catapults Lee into the buckles. Blake backdrops him for 2. Lee blue thunders him for 2. Blake standing spanish flies him for 2 and misses a 450. Blake spears Lee on the apron then fosbury flops him outside. Blake springboard 450's but Lee gets his knees up. Lee superkicks him then Blake gets on his back and does some kind of curbstomp to win it.

It was fast paced but not particularly memorable. Blake did his usual bit here.

The Wingmen (Cezar Bononi and Ryan Nemeth) vs Brock Anderson and Brian Pillman Jr.

Bononi grabs Brian early then Ryan hits him from behind. Peter Avalon chokes and punches Brian outside. Bononi slams Brian then Ryan gyrates and the camera zooms in on him. Avalon chokes Brian then is clotheslines by Arn.

Brock gets in and slams Ryan. Brock gutwrench slams Ryan for 2 then Bononi decks him. Brock clips Bononi and lariats him over the top. Brian goes over the top then Brock hits punches on Ryan. Brock then picks up the win out of nowhere on Ryan.

It was a short one. The heels were heels and the faces weren't that great, but it was fine for what it was.

Mei Suruga and Emi Sakura vs Reka Tehaka and Ashley D'Amboise

Reka's team gets jumped by the Japanese team then Reka is tripped into a botched springboard double stomp. Mei indian deathlocks Reka and Ash breaks it up. Mei stomps on Reka then Reka catches her headscissors and backbreakers her. Ash gets in and hits a nice suplex on Mei.

Emi takes a double kick then double eye pokes them and chops them. Emi corner crossbodies both. Mei gets on EMi's shoulders and they roll onto the two. Emi delay butterfly backbreakers Ash then Reka hits a headbutt on Emi. Mei comes off the top rope and double stomps Reka as she leans on the apron. Emi then crossbodies Reka against the steps. Emi top rope moonsaults Ash to win it.

It was a short one and was a near total squash. I didn't have any issues with it, though I would have liked to have seen this be a non-squash.

Ryan Nemeth does a promo. He says we have more in common than we think. He talks about going to a private school and a private, expensive college. He said he was on the dean's list all four years and was on the rugby team. Ryan said he had a dark time after that and had to get a real job, with a manager, co-workers and customers. Ryan said we may have dealt with it, but if we put it all together, it was not worse than his 3 months as a part-time job. Ryan says not to give up and then asks if it was good and tells people to put it on social media.

Zack Clayton vs Jake Logan

Jake is nailed from the side and dropped. Jake hits forearms then is lariated over the top. Jake is thrown into the steps then Zack 2nd rope superplexes him. Zack hits a jumping knee drop. Jake leg lariats him then misses a 2nd rope moonsault. Zack hits a nasty lariat and does a fisherman's buster variation to win it.

It was short and Zack looked good here. Jake needs to lose weight. He bumped a lot for Zack here.

The Varsity Athletes vs The Dark Order (Alex Reynolds and John Silver)

Nese poses to start and is dropkicked. Alex does a fast crossbody for 2. Alex and Woods trade forearms then Alex 2nd rope dropkicks him. Woods grabs Alex by the arm and yanks his head into the top rope. Nese gets in and hits stomps Alex 1v2's his aopponents then is tripped and knee'd in the face. Woods double underhook suplexes him.

Sterling gets on the apron and Silver grabs him.  Nese grabs Alex by the hair and tries to go over the top to brings his head over the rope but is pushed and plancha's Silver off of it. Woods then germans Alex for 2. Alex fends off a double team move and pushes Nese into Woods. Silver running euros Woods then running euros Nese. Silver hits kicks and a brainbuster on Nese for 2.

Silver armdrags Woods then Alex topes Woods outside. Alex and Silver try some bridging ddt on Nese but Ari Daivari comes out and pushes Silver off the top. Nese pumphandle fire thunders Alex for 2. Ari gets on the apron again and Evil Uno pulls him down and puts him into the steps. Woods is popped up into a euro then Nese takes the Dark Order's usual sequence finisher that ends in a german and a pin. The Dark Order win it.

It was on the shorter end and kind of rushed towards the end. It had shenanigans with Ari and Uno interfering and was just kind of average.

Overall thoughts: It's Dark and you will rarely get anything special here. A couple of the matches were okay though and it wasn't that bad.

AEW Dark 4/18/2023 Episode 192

AEW Dark 4/18/2023 Episode 192

Last week's show is here: https://prowresblog.blogspot.com/2023/04/aew-dark-4112023-episode-191.html

I skipped one match here.

Juice Robinson vs Pat Buck

Ah, the joys of being an AEW agent - you can also book yourself as a talent and get a double payday like Pat is doing.

Juice headlock takeovers him and Pat does the same. Juice hits corner spears then Pat rolls him up from the corner. Juice rolls out and is pulled out. Juice then is pushed into the apron then Juice slams him on the floor. Juice tells some kid to shut up then says he will beat up his dad. Juice suplexes him then hits mounted punches.

Pat suplexes Juice then manhattan drops him. Pat rams his face into the mat then powerslas Juice for 2. Pat asks if that's all Juice has then Pat swing kicks him. Juice jumping side kicks him then does a ddt for the win.

I wasn't real interested in this one and really just didn't see the point of it. We knew Juice was winning this and why Pat needed to be here is beyond me.

The Renegades vs. Kiah Dream & Brittany J

J calls one of the twins a loser then takes mounted punches. Kiah is thrown into the post outside then J takes a big lariat. A twin suplexes the other onto J then J is held for a pump kick. Kiah tries to get a loser chant going then a twin calls her a loser. J chinbreakers a twin then Kiah dropkicks Robyn.

Robyn shotgun dropkicks Kiah then Kiah is held up and the other twin bangs her head off the mat for the win.

It wasn't good. The twins were sloppy here the announcers didn't know who was who. J really has to drop some weight.

The Iron Savages are interviewed. Boulder is all hyped up and then they bring in someone who poses and is hyped up with them. They say they are the Iron Savages multiple times.

Cole Karter vs Hunter James

James gets his face banged off the mat and Cole spinning lariats him. Cole chokes him over the middle rope then throws him hard into the buckles. Cole hits a nice dropkick then does a nice spinebuster. Cole then puts him on his shoulder and twists him into a nice ddt for the win.

It was a short squash and Cole looked good in the little time he got.

Cole Karter does a promo. He said it's another dya and another win then I think Zack Clayton comes in. They never say who it is, so they assume you know. He said they have a lot in common and says Kole is on the rise as a star. Zack tells him to think about it.

Dream Girl Ellie vs Marina Shafir

Marina offers her body parts to grab and DGE eventually takes a headlock. MS does a nice throw then DGE kicks her with her heel. DGE kicks at her on the mat and goes for a lariat but is reversed into an armbar. We get a close up of DGE's crotch then DGE spin kicks her while holding the arm. MS does some nice footslaps then hammerlock backdrops her. MS does a nice roll into a pumphandle suplex then MS does a head and arm triangle and wins it.

This was a good squash. Marina looked vicious and everything she hit looked great. Easily one of the best things I've ever seen her do.

Jora Johl and Rohit Raju vs Ariel Levy and Jarrett Diaz

I'm kind of a fan of Rohit Raju. I think he gets what being a wrestler is and I think he puts in the work. Johl and Raju could honestly pass for twins. Diaz has some colorful tights.

Levy stops him to do a taunt saying he's the one and only South American superstar then is kicked and suplexed. Johl picks up Diaz and Diaz fights off a 2v1. Johl headbutts Diaz then Raju hits a jumping flatliner.  Levy dropkicks Raju, stomps his hand then running knees him. Raju twisting neckbreakers and fisherman suplexes him. Johl superkicks Diaz then Levy takes a jumping knee into a pump kick for the loss.

It was a short squash and there really wasn't a lot of time for this one. They were definitely rushed here.

Angelico vs Christopher Daniels

Ange shoulders him over then Daniels headlocks him. We are told Dean Malenko borrowed a belt from Tazz and has not yet returned it. Daniels shoulders over Ange then armdrags him. Daniels flying kicks him then Ange trips him into the middle rope. Ange throws a wrist sleeve at him then rolls him into a leglock.

Ange backdrops Daniels then Daniels back body drops him. Daniels does an iconoslam variation on him while he's up top then Ange rolls him into a pin attempt. Daniels uranage's him  then Ange rolls him into an stf variation. Daniels hits the angels wings off a backslide attempt and wins it.

Ange had a couple of nice submissions here, but that's all that was of note really.

Overall thoughts: It's Dark and it's usually not anything special. This was no exception. Marina Shafir was the highlight of this one and looked great in her squash.

AEW Dark 4/11/2023 Episode 191

AEW Dark 4/11/2023 Episode 191

Matt Taven vs Brian Pillman Jr.

This might be good. BPJ has some red highlights in his hair now and takes him down and rides him. BPJ cartwheels out of a wristlock then upkicks him. Taven hits a nice dropkick then they roll around before BPJ steps on his back. Taven gets his face banged off the apron thne BPJ skips around and goes into the front row to high five the crowd.

BPJ is also noticeably roided up here as he dances outside. BPJ bangs Taven's head off the buckles then Taven pulls his thrown down over the top rope. BPJ top rope crossbodies him then single leg crabs him. Taven hits the ropes then dropkicks him through the ropes. Taven stunguns BPJ then springboard back enznugiri's him for 2. I lost the rest of the review here but Taven won with a headlock driver.

BPJ's running some new out of control character here and I don't really think it's going to work. It was very fast paced and fine for what it was. Taven probably should have gotten a little more in though.

Lee Johnson vs Blake Li

Blake actually gets a crowd chant. Lee quickly takes control with a punch then is hit with a forearm. Blake hits a decent dropkick then Lee suplexes him. Lee footslaps him then Blake hits punches. Lee superkicks him then hits another superkick that looked like it missed. Lee hit a fisherman's neckbreaker and won it in quick fashion.

This was a quick squash and Blake arguably got more over than Lee did here.

Toni Storm did a quick promo asking if we saw hwat she did to Kiera Hogan. She said she's ripping the homgrown women of AEW apart and said she sees a division riddled with entitled and ungrateful losers.

Josh Woods vs Daisy K

Daisy K is a dude. Why he named himself that is beyond me, but he's an idiot and shouldn't even be on here for that name alone.

Woods takes him down and pats him on the head. Daisy then takes him down and rubs Woods' head. Daisy tries to leapfrog but Woods grabs his leg and he faceplants. Woods hits a nice karelin's lift. Woods punches him then hits a pumping knee. Woods then won with a nasty twisting brainbuster in the corner that looked super unsafe.

This was a mess. Woods was dangerous here, throwing Daisy around without caring how he landed and seemingly trying to injure him. Daisy has a good look, but his career is toast due to his name.

Jake Roberts and Lance Archer do a promo. Lance said he keeps being fed the same crap every week. He said he wants someone who means something. He said to stop wasting him time and give him something he can chew on. This promo would have been a lot more effective if there was a match to go with it.

Willow Nightingale vs Diamante

Willow waistlocks and throws her down. Willow hits a big slam and catches her on a headscissors attempt with a sideslam. Diamante neckbreakers her over the middle rope then baseball slides her off the apron. Diamante stretches Willow over the post then hits elbow drops. Diamante kneels on her back and pulls her neck.

Diamante gets knocked off the 2nd rope and then Willow dropkicks her. Willow lariats and chest kicks her. Willow spinebusters her then Diamante dropkicks her in the corner. Diamante hits a twisting neckbreaker for 2 then germans her. Willow pounces her then hits a doctor bomb for the win.

This wasn't anything special and was just the basic Willow match.

Overall thoughts: We had a guy with a girls name get the crap beaten out of him, a random Lance Archer promo and Brian Pillman Jr. acting goofy plus a non-offensive main event.

AEW Dark Episode 186 3/7/2023

AEW Dark Episode 186 3/7/2023

Mylo vs Skye Blue

Mylo gets a wristlock then is armdragged. Mylo blocks an armdrag then takes an armdrag with the other arm. Mylo kicks Skye off the apron then bangs her head off the apron. Mylo barely hits a slingshot suplex for 2. They go up to the 2nd rope and Skye crossbodies her off of it. Skye step up knees her against the ropes then hits a spinning kick while on her knee. Mylo hits a big cutter for 2.

Mylo misses a top rope splash then is superkicked and takes a full-nelson slam for the win.

Mylo got more in than I expected here. Skye was sloppy and not particularly impressive.

Brian Cage vs Bad Dude Tito

Tito grabs a headscissors early then shoulders him over. Tito takes an enzugiri in the corner then a german suplex. Cage foot chokes him then is rolled up. Tito grabs an ankle lock out of it then hits a sliding lariat.

Tito takes a kick while on the apron and fights off a 2nd rope suplex. Tito then blockbusters him off the top for 2. Cage hits a big pumphandle driver and it's only for 2. The announcers are surprised by it then Tito hits a superkick and enzugiri. Tito then blue thunders him for 2. Tito fires up and Cage spinning lariats him. Cage then hits a powerbomb into a texas cloverleaf style lion tamer to win it.

Tito got more in here than Cage did, but I wasn't really a fan. They did too much for a 3 minute squash.

Lance Archer vs Cody Chhun and Guillermo Rosas

Jake Roberts introduces Lance Archer and is using a knock-off version of his WWF theme.

Chhun and Rosas argue on the ramp then Lance nails both out there. Both are thrown in and the jobbers 2v1 Lance. Lance gets on the 2nd rope as the jobbers pose then crossbodies both guys. Lance hits running back elbows in seperate corners on both guys then hiptosses Rosas into Chhun. Lance then chokeslams Chhun onto Rosas, as Rosas is in the reverse ddt position then double chops Chhun as he sits on top. Lance hits a stiff lariat on Rosas and wins as expected.

We've seen Lance have one sided squashes for years now and that's mostly what this was. Not particularly interesting though I did kind of pop for Chhun doing breakdancing to celebrate getting the advantage on Lance.

Konosuke Takeshita vs Jack Cartwheel

Jack cartwheels out of a wristlock then is shouldered over. KT flying clotheslines him. Jack is pushed and does a cartwheel out of it then handsprings into on KT on the apron. Jack then does his corkscrew flying space tiger on KT outside. Jack does a handstand into a legsweep from the apron then uses the ropes to bounce off and elbow drop KT.

KT germans Jack and Jack backflips out of a lariat. Jack hits an enzugiri then gets elbowed and takes a big lariat. Jack hits a forward Finlay roll. Jack goes for a cartwheel handspring into a backflip but is caught with a blue thunder bomb and a high knee. Takeshita wins.

It was short and what you would expect. I thought it was entertaining. Jack did his cartwheels as he always does and had some highlights. Taz couldn't get Jack's name right, calling him Jake Something at one point.

Big Bill vs Julius Coleman

Coleman's actually of a decent size and has nipple rings and a lip ring. One of those is getting ripped out someday by accident.

Bill hits a big punch early and hits a nice corner splash. Bill pounds on him and steps on his head. Coleman hits a dropkick and is pushed off during corner punches. Bill throws him in the corner and Coleman takes a great bump over the top. bill then hits a big chokeslam and wins it.

This was a short but entertaining squash thanks for Coleman's nice corner bump.

Willow Nightingale vs Zoe Dubois

Zoe has very artistic eyebrows and takes a side headlock to start. Zoe takes a cheapshot on the ropes and Willow cartwheels out of an irish whip. Zoe gets put into a split then Willow superkicks her as she is split. Willow suplexes her. Zoe hits some bad kicks then takes a big lariat.

Willow his a back splash in the corner then a stiff facekick. Willow spinebusters her for 2. then hits a gutwrench bomb for the win.

it was a short and stiff squash that probably went less than 3 minutes.

Athena comes out after and tries to hit her with the ROH Women's title but is pounced and rolls out. Willow holds up the ROH Women's title as Athena leaves. Athena then decks Zoe with a forearm outside.

AR Fox vs Ryan Nemeth

This is going to be the 3rd AR Fox match I saw in the last week. That's about 3 too many for me. A fan, or probably a plant, is dressed up like Ryan Nemeth and he gives him the up yours gesture.

AR hits a lariat in the corner, goes over the top some and skins the cat back in. AR then moonsaults off the post on the apron. Ryan takes chops outside then Fox does the 10 punches spot on the outside. Somehow, neither one was counted out during this. AR superkicks him as he is seated on a chair outside then AR takes a hiptoss on the apron.

AR gets his head banged off the apron and kind of does a handstand out of it. Ryan beats up on him more and hits a nice dropkick for 2. Ryan hits punches and double throat thrusts him. AR hits an interesting fisherman's suplex. AR jumping back elbows him and rolls him into a cutter. Fox misses a 450 from the top then is slammed down. Ryan then jumps up and hits a ddt for 2.

Ryan poses on the 2nd rope and takes an iconoslam. AR then walks him into a cutter and hits a top rope 450 to win.

This wasn't bad. Not great or anything you would ever remember, but Ryan was a decent heel here and AR had some shine spots to put him over as the face.

Overall thoughts: It wasn't bad, but nothing I would really go to check out. The crowd was somewhat interested and everything was kept short, good or bad. Takeshita/Cartwheel was what you would think and the main was okay. Big Bill throwing Coleman over the top was a nice spot too.

AEW Dark Episode #152 7/12/2022

AEW Dark Episode #152 7/12/2022

I can think of better ways to spend my time, but I want to see the All-Atlantic title match.

Private Party (Isiah Kassidy & Marq Quen) vs Bear Country (Bear Boulder & Bear Bronson)

Quen has a blue beard and Bronson is in better shape since I last him saw. Bronson threatens a punch and Kassidy backs off. Kass then rolls under his punch and threatens him. Bronson slams his head off the mat and splashes him. Bronson hits a nice punch in the corner and spinebusters him. Bron mocks PP's taunt.

Quen side headlocks Boulder and Boulder lifts him. Boulder shoulders him and they suggest Quen got the blue beard from putting his face in a port-a-potty. Quen is caught by Boulder and thrown down from his shoulder. Boulder then hits lariats and back elbows. Quen then collapses. Bronson headlocks Quen and does his taunt again. Kassidy tries to trip Bronson then PP hit the silly string into a spinning ddt for 2.

Quen gets help with a slingshot elbow on Bronson then Kassidy slingshot sentons Boulder. Kass shows off his shows as he stomps Boulder. Bronson tries to fight out of a 2v1 but PP gets him in the leg and Kass dances. Bronson tries to fight out of a 2v1 again and pulls them into each other. He flips Quen and lariats Kass. He finally tags out. Boulder gets in and beats up the heels with lariats and slams. He then splashes both in the corner.

Kass jumps off the 2nd rope and is caught by Boulder then he catches Quen too and fallaway slams both for 2. Boulder backpacks his partner but Quen dropkicks them to prevent it. Bronson then hits a blackhole slam on Quen. Bronson gets on Boulder's shoulders then Kass springboard cutters Bronson. Kass tope con hilo's Boulder then Quen SSP's Bronson off the top to win.

This was good, but it could have been a little better. I don't think they got the most out of Bear Country here and I think it could have been a little shorter. PP were good here though with the screaming and being heels and Bear Country was fine as usual.

Captain Shawn Dean vs Conan Lycan

When you have the name Conan, you better look like one and this one does. He is a thick dude despite not even being super ripped. Conan shoulders him over and Dean hits armdrags. Dean then dropkicks him out. Dean plancha's Conan and Conan is supposed to catch him but both fall down. Conan then goes into the post. Dean slingshots but is caught then swung into an STO.

Dean chinbreakers him then lariats and back elbows him. Dean then wrap around ddt's him and hits a nice football tackle for 2. Conan rolls over his back then spinning blue thunder bombs him for 2. Conan goes up top and Dean avoids his 450. Dean then shotgun dropkicks him in the corner and top rope splashes him for the win.

Dean was a good face here. Conan didn't have the greatest night, but he's big, he's agile, he looks like a wrestler and he needs to return.

Rohit Raju was interviewed. He introduces himself and his nicknames. He said Dark is getting brighter with him and says he is a walking bag of money. He says Baron Black will be a walking bag of pain and suffering. He said his mom calls him son because he shines like one.

The Jericho Appreciation Society (Angelo Parker & Matt Menard) vs Jake St. Patrick & Sage Scott

Sage isn't the tallest but he's big. Jake and Sage get jumped and beaten on then Safe goes into the rails and apron. Menard lariats Jake then Jake takes a double elevated ddt for the quick and pointless JAS win.

Willow Nightingale vs Mila Moore

Mila looks a lot like AJ Lee and isn't a bad looking girl. She has very shiny gear that looks good. Mila wristlocks her and gets slammed. Willow poses then crossbodies her as she is seated. Willow hits a running hip attack to her body in the corner. Willow then perfectplexes her for 2. Mila hits corner boots and does a nice pump kick.

Willow cartwheels out of an irish whip the nenzugiri's and lariats her. Willow then spinebusters her. Mila blocks a gutwrench then side backcrackers her for 2. Mila slaps her then Willow hits a pounce from the side. Willow corner cannonballs her then gutwrench powerbombs her for the win.

It was short and was okay for the time it got, but it couldn't have been that much more due to its length.

Rohit Raju vs Baron Black

Baron gets a small chant going. He rolls out of a wristlock but Raju rolls with him. Raju headlocks him then is put in abdominal stretch. Baron rolls him into a nice pin attempt for 2. Baron atomic drops him and spinning lariats him.

Raju double knees him against the ropes. He drops him on his chest and hits a nasty lariat to the back of the head for 2. Baron euro uppercuts him then chops and spinning chops him. Baron then hits a spinning emerald flowsion for 2 and crossfaces him. Baron spins and takes a jumping knee. Raju then facewash kicks him in the corner and cannonballs him in the corner. Raju top rope double stomps him and wins it.

Nothing wrong with this. It was short but they kept it moving the whole time. Raju was very crisp here and really looked like a total pro. Baron got a little in but lost like he always has.

Angelico vs Logan Laroux

Logan rolls and kips up out of a wristlock then Angelico armdrags him. Angelico takes him down with an armdrag and cravates him. Angelico pulls his arms behind his legs and pushes forward on the mat in a neat submission that I've never seen before. They trade waistlocks and miss shots. Logan then flying forearms him. Logan then rolls into a spear for 2. Logan lariats him and slides to the floor then misses a top rope dropkick. Angelico then does his spin into an ankle lock and wins it.

It was short but not bad at all. Angelico's submissions are always nice and Logan did okay with what he got.

The ref tries to dance with Angelico after.

Dante Martin (w/Matt Sydal) vs Nick Comoroto (w/Aaron Solo & QT Marshall)

QT Marshall gets on the mic and says Sydal's peace, love and pro wrestling is a bunch of crap. QT tells Dante to watch what a real coach does. Nick blindside forearms Dante and corner lotheslines him. Dante springboard but is caught then bottom rope springboard dropkicks. He then dropkicks him. He gets caught on his tope and is thrown into the apron and the stage. Nick then gorilla presses him into the ring.

Nick slingshot elbow drops him and throws him hard into the buckles. Nick backbreakers him and Solo takes a cheap shot on Dante on the ropes. Dante takes some forearms to the lower back and Taz rightfully complains that Dante is wearing The Factory's colors. Nick slams him and twists his neck with his feet. Nick butt drops Dante's lower back and Date comes back with forearms and kicks. Nick corner spears him and throws him.

Nick then poses as he tries to pin him. Nick backbreakers him again an stretches him there. Dante headscissors Nick over and Dante top rope crossbodies him. Dante dives on Solo outside then springboard dropkicks Nick. Dante goes for a twisting springboard but is caught and neckbreakered over the knee for 2. Dante is hanging off of Nick in the alabama slam position then spins around his shoulder and rolls him up for the win.

QT beats up Sydal after and throws him in the ring. Fuego del Sol then makes the save with a chair.

I thought it was a decent match. It could have been a little better with a big Dante comeback with some impressive spots but it didn't happen. Nick did good here and continues to be wasted here on Dark.

AEW All-Atlantic Title Match - PAC (c) vs Shota Umino

This is from Revolution Pro in England and this is the first ever defense of this title. Pac shoulders him over and Shota elbows him. Pac goes outside and throws him into the rails. Shota then is thrown hard into the buckles. Pac hits a nice slam on him then Shota drops him from the slam position and diving euro's him. Shota throws him into the rails outside multiple times. Shota then slingshot ddt's him for 2.

Pac gets back in and eye pokes him then chokes and stands on him with his boot. Pac bullies him around for a bit and slams him. Shota back elbows him and basement dropkicks him. Shota hits a running euro then backdrops him. He hangs on and hammerlocks him but Pac hits the ropes. Shota then dropkicks him into the rails outside and top rope dropkicks him. Shota then perfectplexes him for 2.

Pac spin kicks him in the gut then flyins kicks him in the head. Pac hits a top rope dropkick for 2. Pac footslaps him around and they trade forearms. Pac rebound germans him then facekicks him. Shota hits a nice enzugiri then is superkicked. Shota then hits a peach sunrise. Shota runs into a superkick. Pac goes up top and Shota hits the ropes with Pac taking a hard fall down. Shota then tornado ddt's him and holds on a brainbuster. Shota elevated reverse ddt's him for 2.

Pac facekicks him and tries to roll him into a pin but is countered. Pac does a head and arm hold on Shota was he is hanging from him and Pac gets the win.

I didn't think it was anything special. Going outside early hurt some of the flow and it was just a moves match without any real story to it.

Overall thoughts: It was a decent edition of Dark. I liked Bear Country vs Private Party and I liked Dante vs Nick. Raju looked good and Shawn Dean did as well.

AEW Dark #144 5/1/2022

 AEW Dark #144 5/1/2022

 Kris Statlander vs. Avery Breaux

Avery is from New Orleans and is wearing those colors. She gets thrown down early. Kris side throws her then hits a nice armdrag. Kris back body drops her. Kris puts her in the electric chair and drops her down on her front.

Avery pushes her into the buckle sand hits some forearms. She then cannonballs her in the corner and poses. Kris backbreakers her over the knee and hits some sledgehammer shots. Kris then powerslams her and hits cradle tombstone to win it.

Avery's a little awkward and Kris didn't show a lot of personality here. The crowd didn't care at all.

Matt Menard and Angelo Parker vs Eli Isom and T.U.G. Cooper

Matt gets the mic. He says when Jericho isn't here, he gets his way. He said because of it, there is no judas or singalongs here. Angelo says we have some fine looking pro wrestlers here, but we beat up pro wrestlers.

Tug is not as cool looking as he sounds. Angelo avoids a dropkick. Isom then takes a german from Matt. Matt lariats him then Angelo face kicks him. Isom gets thrown into his partner and they bang heads. Then Matt and Angelo hit a stiff elevated double ddt on Tug and win it.

Not much to this here but Matt and Angelo are good at the basics and did what they could to try and make this interesting.

AQA vs Brittany Jade

Brittany has blue hair and tattoos. She pushes AQA and AQA uses the buckles to kick her. AQA side headlocks her then Brittany does the same. AQA hits a jumping forearm then bulldogs her. Brittany running euro's her  then does some flipping facebuster thing to a downed AQA.

AQA comes back with some jumping clotheslines and a sling blade. AQA step up enzugiri's her then does a moonlight drive neckbreaker for the win.

This wasn't too good. Brittany has really simple stuff and AQA's stuff didn't look good.

Lee Moriarty vs Alan Angels

Lee slams him down on the mat and rolls him. Alan hits some armdrags then Lee does an abdominal stretch with the wrist clutched. Lee doesn't give a clean break and Alan gets mad and shoves him. Lee shoves him back then Alan drops him with a big forearm.

Alan leg lariats him and hits an armdrag. Lee kicks him in the back and Alan yells at him and says, "let's go". Lee arm whips him down on the mat. Lee underhook suplexes him. Lee works his arm and continues working on it. Alan gets thrown into the buckles, back elbows him and rolls out of the ring to the floor.

Alan comes off the bottom rope with a dropkick then step up enzugiri's him. Alan northern lights suplexes him. Lee sits on the top rope and Alan runs up the buckles and knees him. Alan then hits a dangerous looking spanish fly. Lee then rolls out and Alan is facekicked off the apron. Lee then tope's him.

Lee hits a spinning ridge hand chop and taps him out with a border city stretch.

I appreciate them trying here and the arm stuff made sense. The crowd was dead though and this just didn't work. These two did not mesh that well together and it was slow and long.

Robyn Renegade vs Vicky Dreamboat

Robyn quickly pump kicks her and chops her outside. Robyn bangs her head off the apron and Robyn gets int oit with fans. She camel clutches Vicky and pulls on her mouth as Tazz comments on her dental hygiene. Vicky gets a surprise rollup and hits some bad slaps. Vicky then does single leg dropkick, which Excalibur doesn't even know what to call.

Robyn bangs Vicky's head off the mat then pumphandle slams her. Robyn misses a 2nd buckle moonsault and I believe does twin magic outside with her twin. Vicky goes for something then gets powerslammed for the win.

Tony Schiavone interviews "Robyn" after and says he knows something is going on. Tony accuses her of switching with her sister. Her sister then rolls in and Tony calls it a charade. The girls tell Tony he is their favorite and says something is going on here and we need an investigation. Tony says we will look into this further.

The match wasn't good though Robyn gets what she is doing out there but the interview after was a lot of fun.

Trenton Storm vs Anthony Ogogo

Storm has a little size to him but has weird ear piercings. Ogogo waste locks him down and kicks him in the gut. Ogogo does a nice takedown then an interesting suplex. Ogogo hits a knee to the gut. Storm comes back with a nice dropkick then superkicks him in the face.

Ogogo comes back with a lariat and hits some kicks. Ogogo ties him up in the ropes and gut punches him. The ref rings the bell and Storm is done.

Well, that was a bizarre ending to a match that wasn't too entertaining.

Ogogo bridges Storm on the top rope after and cutters him.

Leva Bates vs Kiah Dream

Dream knocks Leva's book away. Leva says how dare you then Dream pokes her in the face and takes her glasses. She says the glasses look better on her anyway. Leva takes her glasses back and gives the ref.

Dream pokes her in the eye then dropkicks her. Dream kicks her in the back then slaps her around. Leva gives her slaps back then northern lights suplexes her for 2. Leva gets behind her, pushes her into the ropes and back rolls her for the win.

This was quite entertaining and I liked this.

Peter Avalon and Ryan Nemeth vs Roppongi Vice (Trent Beretta and Rocky Romero)

Rocky gets knocked off the apron during his entrance and Trent takes a nice bump upon getting thrown out. They fight on the stage then Trent is suplexed on it. Rocky fights off a 1v2 then Nemeth lariats his own partner. Rocky then jumps off the steps and crossbodies his opponents.

Trent moonsaults off the stage onto his opponents. Peter takes punches from both opponents then takes a dropkick and a lariat. Trent gets put in the ring skirt and gets beat up by both opponents as Ryan accuses him of playing games and tells him to get back in the ring.

Peter suplexes Trent for 2 then Trent tornado ddt's Ryan. Rocky gets in and hurricanrana's Rocky. Rocky clotheslines both opponents in the corner then double lariats them both. Peter is put over the top rope and takes a top rope dropkick then a knee.

Peter pulls Trent off the 2nd buckle then Nemeth hits his pendulum ddt for 2. Peter top rope splashes Trent for 2. Peter and Nemeth dance and Peter is backdropped from the ring to the floor. Rocky and Trent hit a double jumping knee on Nemeth then Trent flying knees Nemeth for 2.

JD Drake is outside and trips Trent. Orange Cassidy comes out and hits his weak kicks on him. Rocky then topes JD. Nemeth then takes a samurai driver with a top rope stomp and Trent wins it.

Overall thoughts: It was a tough hour. The crowd was totally not interested and that's tough with a bunch of squashes matches with green wrestlers.

AEW Dark Episode #146 5/31/2022

ROH Women's Title - Mercedez Martinez vs Viva Van

MM rolls out of a wristlock and they chain wrestle. MM butterfly suplexes her then hits a running knee. Van hits some leg kicks then hits a buzzsaw kick. MM face kicks her then dropkicks her. MM drops her on the top rope and she bounces off. MM then forearms her in the back of the head and surfboards her into a dragon sleeper to win.

This was a short squash. Van didn't get to do much here but she's attractive and has a marketable look. It's really just a matter of time until she gets signed somewhere.

The Butcher and The Blade vs Hunter Grey and Paul Titan

Hunter Grey and Paul Titan

Grey and Titan wear face paint and wear animal furs. They actually look like wrestlers and I like them already. They should be signed.

Blade and Grey shoulder battle early. Butcher hits a hard lariat on Grey then Grey takes a double headbutt. Grey forearms his partner to tag him in and yells animal sounds. Titan comes in and shoulders Blade then slams his partner on him. Titan face kicks Blade in the corner then Blade comes back with chops.

B&B double shoulderblock and double chop Titan. Grey corner splashes Butcher and gets a yell overwith the crowd. Grey gets thrown into a Blade knee. Titan takes a hard ride over the top then Grey takes powerbomb neckbreaker combo for the win.

This was actually good. Grey and Titan looked like stars and they had a short but hoss battle. The barbarians actually got a chant going with the crowd and are going somewhere.

Carlie Bravo vs Anthony Ogogo

Ogogo was injured and off TV for a while. Maybe he will be back. Bravo is from Cody Rhodes' Nightmare Factory.

Ogog headlock takeovers Bravo early. Ogogo hits a nice shoulderblock then gets dropkicked. Bravo spinning forearms him and suplexes him. He drops a knee but misses it. Ogogo comes back with two slams then does a nice pop-up into a punch. Caprice Coleman really puts this over on commentary. He puts his British flag over him and lets the ref count out his opponent.

This was a quick squash and there wasn't anything wrong with this. Caprice Coleman did a fantastic job here and Ogogo's pop-up into a punch was cool.

Jamie Hayter vs Danika Della Rouge

DDR has blonde braids and is a little chubby. Jamie pounds on her with forearms then gets suplexed. Jamie mounts her and hits more forearms then uranage's her into a backbreaker. Jamie then hits a ripcord lariat and wins it.

Another short squash here. Jamie looked okay in the 2 minutes she got.

Serpentico, Ryan Nemeth and Peter Avavlon vs The Dark Order (Evil Uno, John Silver and 10)

Nemeth is above this crap. If Avalon was about 60 pounds heavier and 6 inches shorter, he'd have something.

Silver shoulders Peter then Nemeth takes a double shoulder. Serpentico tries to shoulder tackle both opponents and fails then is whipped into an Uno shoulder. 10 delayed vertical suplexes Serp until the audiences counts to 10 then Uno does it to Serp until the audience counts to 1.

Serp hits a jumping flatliner on Uno then Uno takes a double dropkick. Nemeth corner spears Uno then Serp does some weird falling headbutt on Uno. Uno gives Serp's leg to the ref then neckbreakers him. Uno double stunners his opponents then 10 comes in and lariats people. 10 hits a big blue thunder on Nemeth then Serp takes a stunner over the top into a wheelbarrow suplex. Ryan hits his big pendulum ddt.

Nemeth is thrown over the top then Uno flips onto Avalon and Nemeth off the apron. Serp gets held up like a T and Silver runs underneath to flip him. Silver then grabs the pin.

It was fine. It was a short sub 10 minute match with some comedy in here then the D-O won easy as expected.

Overall thoughts: It was a 28 minute show. They had a couple of quick squashes here before the time ran out. Not the worst way to spend a half hour and I didn't mind it.
