AEW Dynamite 3/5/2025

AEW Dynamite 3/5/2025

Last week's show is here: https://prowresblog.blogspot.com/2025/02/aew-dynamite-2262025.html

This is airing against WWE Evolve on Tubi.

We cut to MJF outside. He says Adam Page poked the devil. He says what he did to Daniels was light work. He says Page got him hungry and wanting to prove a point. He says he's in the streets if Page wants to find him. He says he has a bullet with his name on him. He says if he wants to shoot, saddle up and let's ride.

Tony Schiavone is in the ring to host a contract signing. Ricochet, Prince Nana and Swerve Strickland come out.

Ricochet doesn't have Nana's robe on and says it is getting some upgrades for Sunday. Ric says Swerve's contract signings didn't go well before but at least his house isn't getting burned down. Ric says Swerve is lucky he's here as he should be done with him. Ric says Swerve is upset as he won.

Ric says he's one step closer to achieving his goal of being champ. He says he's one step closer to being who he was supposed to be - the AEW champ. He tell Swerve not to let Prince Nana down.

Swerve says Ric stole Nana's robe. He says the worst thing he did was let him be here and still breathing. He says he will breathe down his neck until he ends him. Swerve sends he will run him into the ground on his path to the title. He says people will remember Ric for his wife and that Swerve briefly revived his career. Ric gets up, they stare down and Ric tries to hit him with golden scissors. Swerve catches the scissors and hits Ric with his own scissors. Ric then gets busted open.

Thoughts: I liked this. Ric is doing good with this annoying heel character.

Will Ospreay, Mark Briscoe, Powerhouse Hobbs and Orange Cassidy vs Lance Archer, Mark Davis, Brian Cage and Bryan Keith

BK = Bryan Keith , MB = Mark Briscoe, MD = Mark Davis

Will facekicks Cage. Cage catches his headscissors, does curls with him and hits a world's strongest slam on him. Cage hits corner lariats on Will then short arm clotheslines him. Will is popped up and hurricanrana's Cage. Will backdrops Cage.

MB and Cage go at it. MB hits uppercuts. MB flips out of a back body drop. MB back enzugiri's Cage. Will hits corner punches on Cage then Hobbs hits corner punches on Cage. OC then hits a single corner punches on Cage. Cage lariats OC over.

OC bangs Cage's head off the buckles. OC is caught on a slingshot and takes a jackhammer. Lance hit forearms on OC. Lance black hole slams OC. We go to PiP break and return. Don Callis stomps OC outside.

Lance suplex lifts OC and passes him to Cage then Cage is passed to MD for a suplex. OC suplexes BK. MD gets back in and OC stunners him. Hobbs is tagged in. He and MD trade. Hobbs shoulders MD over. Hobbs lariat battles with Cage and Lance at the same time. Cage and Lance lariat each other on accident and Hobbs double lariats both.

Hobbs exploders Mark. Mark then takes corner attacks. Will plancha's out onto Lance. MB tope con hilos through the ropes. OC gets on Hobbs' shoulders and elbow drops MD for 2. Mark powerbombs Hobbs. BK facekicks Hobbs. Hobbs lariats BK. Will springboard forearms BK. Will handspring corkscrew kicks Cage. Will superkicks BK's head into the buckles.

Everyone starts hitting a move. Cage rock bottoms Hobbs. OC spinning ddt's Cage. OC topes into a tornado ddt on Cage on the floor. OC goes up top and is headbutted. BK 2nd rope exploders him. BK and MB go at it. MB flying forearms him then exploders him. Lance lariats MB. MB shotei's a chair into Lance's face. MB jumps off a chair and flipdives Lance and Cage. Will os cutters BK then hits a hidden blade for the win.

Thoughts: It was a good tag match. It was fast paced with lots of people coming in and out as expected and the heels lost here as expected. This was all action.

Mark Davis sleepers Will after. Cage powerbombs OC on the apron edge. Lance chokeslams Briscoe on the apron. Hobbs takes a chokeslam + powerbomb combo on the side of the steps.

Kyle Fletcher comes out after. Will is held as Kyle pounds and stomps on him. Mark Davis pulls Kyle off and Kyle yells at him. Kyle tells Mark to chair Will and Mark does. Mark is then told to leave. Kyle brainbusters Will on an open chair after.

Thoughts: I didn't get the Mark Davis stuff since he turned on Will already and shouldn't care.

We get a video on Takeshita vs Omega with Don Callis, Takeshita and Omega talking over it.

Wheeler Yuta vs Cope

Cope blocks a boot to the gut and takes Yuta down. Yuta takes him down by the wrist and bangs his leg off the mat. Yuta headflips out of a wristlock and Cope running lariats him.

Cope shoulders Yuta over. Yuta ankle locks him. Cope flips him with his feet then armdrags him. Yuta hits chops on Cope. Yuta hits armdrags and a dropkick. Cope slides out and pulls Yuta's face down on the apron.

We go to PiP break and return. Yuta chinlocks Cope. Yuta olympic slams Cope for 2. Cope clubs on Yuta on the buckles. Yuta top rope splashes Cope for 2. Cope crossfaces Yuta. Cope facekicks him then impaler ddt's him. Cope runs at Yuta and catches a flying knee. Yuta does cattle mutilation on Cope. Cope hits a jade end on Yuta. Cope hits a spear on Yuta for the win.

Thoughts: It was an acceptable match. There was anything too great or wrong with it and it was fine for what it was. Cope won as expected here.

Cope grabs the mic after. He shakes Yuta's hand and says this is what respect feels like. Mox comes out and asks Yuta what the handshaking stuff is about. He said he told  him to take him out. Yuta kind of pushes Mox aside and leaves.

Yuta walks to the back and Mox follows him. Mox tells him to keep walking and threatens him. Mox congratulates Cope and said he's now all alone. Mox says he's defenseless and will be like a sheep. He says Cope got to him and wasted his time. He says Cope rattled his cage. He says the bars were there for Cope's safety. He says Cope will do nothing to him at Revolution and says he deserves to get his @ss beat because he deserves it and he wants to. Mox says there's no respect in this business and never has been. He says you only get respect if people know you are willing to pull the trigger. Mox says he only has to pull the trigger once.

We get an 80's style music video on The Outrunners.

MJF is still waiting for Page outside. Renee interviews him. MJF says Page is a gutless coward. He says he will prove he's not the main character and says he is instead. Page then drives a truck at him. Page chases him and MJF runs.

Page catches an MJF imposter backstage. He throws this guy into the rails. The guy says MJF made him do it. MJF nails Page from behind. Page goes for a buckshot lariat and MJF kicks him in the nuts. MJF hits a heatseeker ddt on Page. MJF then reveals his shirt which says, "MJF did nothing wrong". MJF beats up on Page. Security tries to help out and fails. Page takes down and pounds on MJF. MJF hits him with the Dynamite Diamond Ring.

MJF says the people love it when Page burns things and says let's see how they feel when he does it. MJF grabs lighter fluid. MJF pours it on Page and a whole bunch of security guards hold down MJF. MJF then gets carried out like a kid by security.

Lexy interviews the director of Queen of the Ring. He talks about it. Mariah May is brought in nd she says she's in it. She puts over the movie and says her nude scene was cut from it. May tells us to go see the movie and poses.

Thunder Rosa and Kris Statlander vs Megan Bayne and Penelope Ford

Kris throws Ford off the waistlock. Hart side headlocks her then Kris side headlock takeovers her. Ford takes shots in the corner then dropkicks Rosa's back against the ropes. All 4 girls get in. Meg catches Rosa off the buckles and throws her onto Kris outside. Meg then throws Ford onto opponents outside.

We go to PiP break and return. Meg chinlocks Rosa. Meg blocks Rosa's chop. Rosa hits leg kicks and a step up enzugiri. Kris gets in and top rope dropkicks Meg. She back body drops Ford. Ford handspring back elbows Meg on accident then Kris ki krushers Ford for 2.

Rosa jumps off Rosa's back and corner dropkicks Ford. Meg takes a double kick to the gut then takes a scissors kick from Kris. Rosa dropkicks Meg through the ropes. Rosa licks Ford's face and lariats her.

Rosa is driven into the corner. Rosa stunners Meg. Meg F-5's Rosa and pins her.

Thoughts: I was surprised by the ending here as Meg's team took most of the offense and didn't seem on the path to winning. There were a lot of weak looking shots here and I don't think this did a lot to put Meg over. It got better in the second half though.

Renee interviews Mercedes Mone. She says beat Momo but says she's the greatest TBS champ of all time. She gets Renee to say that there's no stopping the money train. She's asked who will win between Momo and Deeb. She says she will be watching and says Deeb will break Momo for her. Mone tries to get Renee to say her lines but she says the wrong thing and Mone says money changes everything.

Max Caster comes out. He says we are looking at the best wrestler alive. He says he's the most talked about wrestler in AEW. Max tries to get a chant going for himself. Max calls the fans ballbags. Max says let's see who wants to step to the best wrestler alive.

Jay White vs Max Caster

Max charges at him and is hit with a bladerunner. Jay wins.

Thoughts: I don't like this Max character and don't get what making him look like a fool really accomplishes.

Jay gets on the mic after. He says since World's End, Cope and him have had each other's backs. Jay says Mox is now all alone and says he's waiting to see AEW champ Cope.

Renee does a taped sitdown interview with Mariah May and Toni Storm. May immediately spits on Toni. Toni says it's nice to know she still cares. May says look what Toni made her do. Renee yells at her and says May started all of this. May says she will be the sickest b!tch Toni has ever seen. She says she's the woman from hell and will drag Toni down there with her. Toni says she sentences her to a life of mediocrity. She says her starpower will dwindle and she will be replaced and forgotten. May gets mad and throws her chair. They stare down.

Swerve Strickland and Brody King vs Ricochet and Kazuchika Okada

Swerve hammerlocks Okada. Okada reverses it. Okada taps on his chest to break in the corner. Swerve gets double teamed and goes down. Brody knocks Okada off the apron and pounds on him outside. Swerve hits shots on Ric in the corner then throws him over the top.

All 4 men fight outside and Okada goes into the rails. Swerve flying knees Ric then Okada facekicks Ric on accident. Ric and Okada are in a chair against the rail and Brody crossbodies both.

Okada and Ric are put on Brody's shoulders in the powerslam position outside and Swerve double stomps them. Ric takes a senton and a 2nd rope euro to the neck. Swerve rolls into Ric's codebreaker for 2. We go to PiP break and return. Swerve backbreakers Okada then dropkicks him. Brody gets back in and cleans house. He lariats Okada over twice. Ric hits chops on Brody and gets nowhere. Brody chops him down and slaps him on the head. Brody flapjacks Okada onto Ric then sentons both.

Brody death valley drivers Okada for 2. Okada dropkicks Brody. Ric springboard splashes Brody. Okada facekicks and euros Brody. Brody lariats him.

Swerve hits shots on Ric then hitposses him. Swerve suplexes Ric for 2. Ric flips off of him and spin kicks him. Swerve goes for a powerbomb but is ddt'd for 2.

Swerve ducks a spirit gun. Ric rolls up Swerve for 2. Swerve rolls into a flatliner on Ric. Swerve house call kicks Ric. Swerve top rope double stomps Ric. Okada comes off the top and elbow drops Swerve while he's on Ric.

Brody and Okada trade forearms. Brody facekicks him then corner splashes him. Brody misses a corner cannonball. Okada grabs his title belt. Swerve house call kicks him. Brody lariats Okada over the top and goes with him. Ric hits Swerve with the title and wins.

Thoughts:
It was a good main with a lot of action. It's nothing you'd remember or anything but it was totally fine for what it was here. Ric got the win likely because Swerve will beat him at the PPV.

Overall thoughts: It was a good show. It was very light on wrestling for AEW standards but the matches we got were fine. The storylines are fine enough and the promotion does seem like it has taken the advice of people like myself to try and get things going in the right direction. I'd give this one a 6 out of 10 and think most people would be fine with show.

NWA Powerrr 3/4/2025

NWA Powerrr 3/4/2025

Last week's show is here: https://prowresblog.blogspot.com/2025/02/nwa-powerrr-2252025.html

We get some videos for the two cage matches tonight.

Danny Dealz and Joe Galli are our hosts.

There's an intergender match that I won't be covering.

Tiffany Nieves does a promo. She says tonight's the night everyone has been waiting for. She says it's the first women's cage match in the NWA. She says she's been waiting to get Natalia Markova one on one. She says it comes to an end right now. She says there's a generation who will never know who Markova is again.

Cage Match - Tiffany Nieves vs Natalia Markova

Markova runs in and neckbreakers Tiff. Nat hits chops and they trade shots. Nat knocks her down then Tiff eye rakes her. Tiff hits her with a kendo stick. Tiff chokes her with the stick. Nat hits the cage with the stick and hurts her hand off of it. Nat is sent hard into the cage.

Nat upkicks Tiff. Tiff takes the ref's belt and whips Nat with it. Nat is put in tree of woe then baseball slides her. Tiff ties Nat to the bottom rope and licks her blood. Tiff stands on Nat's face. Tiff poses on the top rope and is pulled down.

Nat hits kendo stick shots on her. Nat russian legsweeps her with the kendo stick. Tiff grounded sleeper her. They both go up to the top rope and both fall down together to the mat. We go to break and return. Tiff spears her for 2. Tiff goes for mounted shots but Nat blocks her. They both climb to the top of the cage. Tiff tries to shake her off but Nat shakes her off.

They fight on the top rope as they hold the cage. Nat kicks her and bangs her head off the top of the cage. Nat then stands on top of the cage and dropkicks her. Nat then picks up the win.

Thoughts: They did what they were supposed to here and had an okay cage match. Nat's dropkick off the top of the cage was a nice spot. Nat's face got bloodied up here. I had no issues with this and what we got was fine.

Thom Latimer is interviewed. Thom says the cage is the most brutal match there is and says it separates the men from the boys. He says there's no more flukes or what if's after tonight. He said he used to be the king of all evil and says EC3 will know his name and fear it tonight.

We get a video on Duke City Championship Wrestling becoming an NWA affiliate. The promoter gets booed for it which I'm surprised they aired.

NWA Title - Cage Match - Thom Latimer (c) vs EC3

EC has his Exodus Pro crew with him surrounding the cage. They trade punches. EC's head is banged off the buckles and he takes corner punches. EC's head is banged off the cage. They trade chops for punches. EC front facelocks him then throws Tom backwards.

EC climbs the cage and is blocked. They get on the top rope. EC's head is banged off the top of the cage. Thom moonsaults EC off the top. Thom dives at EC, misses and goes into the cage. Thom 2nd rope backdrops EC. Thom tries to climb out of the cage and one of EC's buddies swings a chair at him. Thom is kind of back body dropped off the top rope. EC is given a chair. EC top rope diving chair shots Thom.

We go to break and return. EC chairs Thom. Thom is sent into the cage. EC then sits in the chair and talks trash to Thom. EC chairs Thom then sends him into the cage. EC throws a chair at Thom's head.

Thom jawbreakers EC then sends him into the cage. EC is sent into the cage several time and atomic drops him. Thom lariats him. Thom flying back elbows him then hits a standing blue thunder. EC back body drops Thom.

EC thesz presses him then pop-up powerbombs him. EC charges at Thom, Thom side steps him and sends him into the ref. Thom hits a rolling spear but the ref is down and can't count the pin. Thom climbs the cage and escapes but EC's buddies throw the outside ref into the cage. The ref doesn't see Thom escape.

Thom is beaten up by EC's buddies outside. Thom has the cage door slammed into him. Thom is thrown back in the cage. EC hits a jay driller for 2. EC is sent into a chair between the buckles. Thom hits a pop-up powerbomb then hits EC's headlock driver. Thom then hits a piledriver and gets the win.

Thoughts: It was an okay match. It was a little slower than it needed to and I thought it could have been a little more exciting. They didn't make as much out of the top rope moves that they could have. Thom escaping the cage but the ref's not seeing it due to being out was creative. I'm not sure where either guy goes from here. EC was beaten decisively and outside of Silas Mason, I don't know who there is for Thom to face.

EC's followers carry him out after.

Overall thoughts: I didn't watch the intergender match and it was random anyway. What I did see though was good. Both cage matches were built up to for a while and were good matches. The men's cage had a clever spot with Thom escaping the cage when the refs were out, so nobody actually saw him escape, meaning the match went on. Again, if you skip the intergender match, this was one of the NWA's better efforts and was a good show. Neither cage match was must see though.

WWE Evolve 3/5/2025

WWE Evolve 3/5/2025

Note - They did not do a good job of telling us how to find this show. You had to search for this on Tubi and there was not a single mention of the show prior to 8pm. That was a massive failure as the show page should have been up hours beforehand.

This became available on Tubi at 8PM. This is airing against AEW Dynamite.

We see Shawn Michaels, Ava and various wrestlers at the Performance Center. Shawn says they will make history and show the world where wrestling evolves. He welcomes the wrestlers and says he will make the matches tonight.

He announces a male 6-man match and a Kali Armstrong/Dani Palmer vs Kendal Grey and Carlee Bright match to open the show. Shawn says it will be fun to see everyone evolve.

Peter Rosenberg and Robert Stone are on commentary. We have a small studio with purple lighting and a VIP lounge with the couch. If you took away the lounge, it kind of resembles a territory era show.

Kali Armstrong and Dani Palmer vs Kendal Grey and Carlee Bright

These are all former Level Up girls. Dani has jean shorts on, a jean vest with her name on it and a red tanktop.

Kali and Grey start us off. Kali goes into the corner off the lock up. Grey gets backed up into the corner, sat on the top rope and Kali pats her on the head. Dani gets in. Grey yanks on Dani's arm. CB sunset flips Dani. Dani and CB bridge up together. CB backslides her then Dani armdrags her. Dani puts an armlock on her.

Dani headstands out to escape and headflips into a pin attempt. Dani low crossbodies CB. CB flying headscissors Dani and Dani flips out. CB armlocks Kali. Kali armlocks CB.

CB hits Kali in the gut then dropkicks her. CB makes Grey tag in . Kali stops a double clothesline. Grey hits fireman's carries and an armdrag on Kali. Grey does another fireman's carry takeover on Kali and armlocks her. Grey cradles Kali for 2 then yanks the arm.

Grey sits on Kali's back with the armlock. Kali takes a double hiptoss and Grey tells CB to pin her. CB armlocks Kali. Kali a nice powerslam on CB. Kali talks trash in the camera and says she will be the first ever Evolve winner.

We go to break and return. Kali drops CB with a punch. Dani pendulum double knees CB in the back then goes for a standing moonsault but CB gets her knees up.

Grey and Kali get in. Grey hits back elbows and ddt's Kali. Grey overhead belly to bellies Dani and talks trash. Grey is caught on an up and over and Kali powerslams her for 2. Grey top rope superplexes Kali but Dani hits a top rope splash on Grey for 2. CB codebreakers Kali.

Dani step up enzugiri's Grey and Grey hits a hard spear on Dani for 2. Grey throws out Kali and Grey at the same time and Dani gets a 2 count on her. 3 of the girls fight outside. Dani does a top rope corkscrew moonsault onto Kali outside when Grey and CB move.

Grey rolling armbars Dani and submits her.

Thoughts:
It got a lot of time at around 14 minutes or so. I liked it. It was a little different than a usual WWE match with some different camera work and the girls talking trash. Dani did some nice flying as usual though only showed some of her stuff. They pushed Grey and CB as the odd couple here which is new. CB didn't get a ton of offense in. It was good.

Chuey Martinez interviews the winners. CB says that was so much fun and she's out of breath. She says they will go down as the first WWE Evolve match winners. Grey says that's cool and all. She says her eye lash came off and says she wants the audience to think of her and see her dominate. CB says they will be best friends.

We get a video on the history of Evolve, showing wrestlers like Cody, Drew and Gunther who wrestled there. it says the next evolution starts here.

Ricky Smokes, Brad Baylor and Jackson Drake talk. Drake is hyped about being in the main. Brad says Shawn sees himself in them. Ricky says he wants to see the talent outside of the ring. Brad says they are Swipe Right. He says they match with your girlfriends, wives and moms and says we are your next match.

It's Gal and Luca Crusifino are watching.

Jack Cartwheel, Cappuccino Jones and Sean Legacy do a promo. Sean is excited. Jack says him and Jones met at a bar. Jones says it's only crazy until it happens and it's happening now. Sean says this is a moment we won't forget and says they will show why they are always super.

Keanu Carver says he grew up on the concrete and had nothing. He says he got tired of it and was trying to make money. He says he was fighting every single day to get paid. He says he won't take no for an answer.

Trill London says he's from New York and likes to be different. He said he made it to the NFL and says he's completing a childhood dream. He says he was bullied as a kid. He says he's misunderstood but does things his way. He says we will see some different stuff from him.

Keanu Carver vs Trill London

This is Trill London's TV debut. Trill comes out with a hockey goalie mask, body armor, ripped up jeans and a long sleeve shirt.

KC grabs Trill by the head and throws him down to start. Trill boots him out of the corner and is thrown in. KC hits big shots on him and drops him. KC hits a big fallaway slam.

Trill hits shots to the gut and side headlocks him. KC then pounces him. KC hits a standing sky high and wins.

Thoughts:
It was all squash here with Trill getting nothing in. We've seen Carver before and he was impressive. He looked good and vicious here.

Carver talks trash into the camera after and It's Gal poses behind him.

Rosenberg walks past Gal to interview Luca Cruisifino. Luca says he's here as a rep of The D'Angelo Family. Luca says he runs things on Evolve while Tony runs things on NXT. Luca says he knows about everything that happens here. Luca says none of the people here have been in the ring with a heavy hitter like him. Luca says if he knows you, he's not worried about him. He says the future of Evolve is Luca. He says you can either side with him or against him and says to choose wisely.

We get a commercial for Evolve. Harlem Lewis will be on next week's show.

Jack Cartwheel, Cappuccino Jones and Sean Legacy vs Ricky Smokes, Brad Baylor and Jackson Drake

These guys are all from the indies and all 6 are having their WWE TV debuts in this one. The crowd chants "swipe left" at Swipe Right. Jones and Smokes go at it. Smokes throws him down then Jones armdrags him. Jones hits a back body drop. He then leapfrogs and dropkicks Brad.

Sean gordbusters Drake then standing moonsaults him. Jack flips out of the corner and headscissors then dropkicks Drake. Jones and Jack hit a double dropkick on Drake.

Jones back elbows Smokes then is lariated over the top by him. Brad lariats Jones then hits mounted punches. Brad corner spears Jones and Smokes facekicks Jones. Smokes chinlocks Jones. Drake hits knees to Jones' body then fisherman suplexes him for 2.

Brad elbow drops Jones. Jones jawbreakers him. Jones hits a step up enzugiri. Jack gets in. He lariats Drake then flips out of a lariat into a neckbreaker. Jack step up enzugiri's Smokes. Jack flagpole legsweeps Drake then belly springboards into an elbow drop.

We then get a triple dive spot from Jack's team. We go to break and return. Drake gutbusters Jack for 2. Smokes knee drops Jack for 2. Smokes elbows Jack in the back of the head. Jack takes a double suplex for 2.

Brad chinlocks Jack. Brad back elbows him. Jack takes a backdrop + neckbreaker double team for 2. Jack tornado ddt's Smokes. Sean gets in and hits forearms and kicks on Smokes. Sean germans Drake then 619's Brad in the corner. Sean asai moonsaults into a reverse ddt on Drake. Sean takes a dropkick + spinebuster combo. Drake running knees Sean for 2.

Jones is thrown over the top. Sean headbutts Drake. Jones puts Drake in a ddt and forward rolls. Jones hits a top rope froggy bow elbow on Drake for 2. Sean comes in and pump kicks Brad. Brad twisting double underhook drops him. Jones superman punches Drake then Drake standing spanish flies him. Jack crucifix bombs Drake. Smokes M. Bison stomps Jack.

Sean hits a top rope double dropkick. Sean hits a neckbreaker from the burning hammer position on Brad and wins.

Thoughts: It was a good tag. It was fast paced with lots of action. They didn't overdo it here either. I thought the heels were pretty good here and Jack was clearly the most polished person out there.

Kali Armstrong comes to commentary after. She says she didn't lose and needs another match. She asks who she needs to talk to.

Shawn Michaels and Ava talk after. Shawn says Ava can direct this how she sees fit. Ava says she has some ideas for next week's main event. He says she's the boss.

Overall thoughts: The matches were fine and it was a decent show overall. I liked all 3 matches. I don't think anything on here was must see though. The opener got lots of time and while they did have some rookie moments, it was good. Carver looked good in his squash. Trill London looked interesting but didn't get anything in. The main worked out well and I thought did a good job in helping us understand who the heel team was. One thing they didn't do was videos on every wrestler so we could get to know them. I thought they could have also given us more info about what will be on next week's show so we tune in. I'd give the show a 7 out of 10 overall. They had a lot to do here and were able to put out an entertaining and fast paced show from the start which isn't easy to do. The show definitely does feel like early NXT.

WWE Speed 3/5/2025

WWE Speed 3/5/2025

Last week's show is here: https://prowresblog.blogspot.com/2025/02/wwe-speed-2282025.html

WWE Speed Title #1 Contender's Tournament Quarterfinals - Ivar vs Yoshiki Inamura

They shoulder battle and flurry each other with forearms.  Ivar facekicks him then germans him. YI no sells it then delay germans him for 2. YI does sumo palm strikes and does a chop and forearm flurry. Ivar hits a bunch of back elbows. Ivar rolls over YI's back and spin kicks him for 2. YI catches Ivar on a crossbody and spinning slams him for 2.

YI charges at him and YI presses him down. Ivar goes up top and is chopped. Ivar 2nd rope slams him and wins.

Thoughts
: This was a contender for one of the best Speed matches so far. It was all sprint with the big boys doing lots of heavyweight stuff and strikes here. It was exactly what you would want and hope for and this couldn't have gone much better. The crowd loved it as well.

Overall thoughts: There was only one new match as usual but it was a good 2:21 minutes of wrestling. We got a fun heavyweight sprint here that got over with the crowd. It's not must see but it's about as good as you will get on this show and maybe worth a look for that reason.

NWA Power Hour 8/5/1990

NWA Power Hour 8/5/1990

Note - Many places have this marked as being on 8/3/1990. It was not and we know that as they said it would be on after NWA Main Event 8/5/1990

Jim Cornette runs down today's show.

Tommy Rich vs Sgt. Buddy Lee Parker

Rich does an inset promo on Stan Hansen. He says he's ready for Stan. He says he's a winner and not a quitter. He said he never backed down from anyone and won't now.

Ric drags Buddy down off the lock-up. Buddy side headlocks him. Rich hiptosses and armdrags him. Rich then armlocks him. Rich drops a knee on the arm. Buddy knees him in the gut and is monkey flipped. Buddy side headlocks him. Rich trips him and pulls on the leg. Buddy ropebreaks.

Buddy side headlocks him and Rich kneebreakers him. Rich spinning toe holds him. JR says it should be called the spinning leg lock since it affects the leg more. Buddy punches Rich and stomps on him on the apron. Buddy slams him then elbow drops him for 2. Buddy chinlocks him.

Rich reverses it into a hammerlock. Buddy escapes and gets put back in it. Rich knee drops the arm. Buddy hits shots to the gut and Rich back body drops him. Rich armlocks him. Buddy clubs on Rich's spine then backbreakers him. Buddy powerslams him for 2.

Rich bends over and is kicked. Buddy knee drops him for 1. Buddy chinlocks him. Rich shoulders him over then misses a crossbody. Rich snapmares him and chinlocks him. Rich misses a dropkick then Buddy elbow drops him.

Buddy hits shots in the corner. Rich boots him out of the corner. Rich 2nd rope thesz presses him and pins him.

Thoughts: It got close to 10 minutes for some reason and was pretty average. They mostly stuck to the basics here and didn't follow up on any of the limb work they did.

Jim Ross talks about the rest of the show.

The Samoan Swat Team (Fatu and The Samoan Savage) vs Lee Scott and Mark White

Fatu is Rikishi here and The Samoan Savage is Tama. The jobbers get hit before intros are done. Lee takes a huge double back body drop and Mark is punched down by Savage. Savage hits a side slam. The SST hit a double headbutt on Mark. Fatu hits a powerslam and a headbutt on Mark. Fatu calls for The Steiner's.

Mark takes a top rope chop from Fatu then takes a samoan drop. Savage hits a nice to prope splash on Mark and wins.

Thoughts: This was a good squash. The SST had great offense here and moved well. Lee's double back body drop bump was really nice.

Sid Vicious vs Scott Williams

Sid boots Scott and clubs him. Sid forearms him then chinlocks him between the ropes. Sid chest clubs him. Sid blocks a sunset flip and lifts him up by his throat. Sid chokes him and lariats him. Lex Luger comes out and stares down Sid. Sid tells Lex to come to him now.

Sid hits a whirlybird and asks Lex if he can take that. Sid then powerbombs Scott for the win.

Thoughts: It was the usual Sid squash where he dominated his opponent. Sid looked good as usual. Lex came out to watch like he did on Main Event earlier in the day as Sid was involved in an attack on Lex that we didn't see.

Tim Horner is interviewed by Jim Ross. He says he knows Bam Bam Bigelow is big and bad. He says it won't be a cake walk. He says he will come at Bam Bam from so many directions that he will think he's surrounded. Tim says every dog has his day and says today may be his day.

Thoughts: It was a fun squash here with Brian doing some nice flying offense and the heels doing a good job in bumping for the faces. Fred in particular took some interesting bumps.

Jim Cornette talks about Lex Luger getting attacked. He says he will try to get to the bottom of this in the Louisville Slugger. He says Lex plays what he is - a beat up guy.

We see clips from WCW 7/29/1990 with Lex coming out with ripped clothes and swinging a stick around.

Thoughts: I didn't like this that much. It went longer than it needed to. Tim's offense was really basic and Bam didn't bully him around enough to help make Tim's comeback better.

Jim Ross asks Gordon Solie about the attack on Lex Luger. Gordon thinks The Horsemen were involved in it. They talk about Lex being silent. Gordon says Lex has the killer instinct and is seeking revenge. JR asks if Sting is next. Gordon says The Horsemen may want to take out The Dudes with Attitudes first then Sting.

Overall thoughts: It wasn't the most exciting edition of Power Hour. The main and the opener both ran long and neither were that good. The Z-Man/Pillman tag was the best thing on here though it was just a squash. I also liked The SST squash. We also got no answers on who attacked Lex which sucked. I wouldn't really recommend this one and thought it was just average due to the two long matches not being good.
