WWE Friday Night Smackdown 3/29/2013 Results and Review

Last week's show is here: http://prowresblog.blogspot.com/2013/03/wwe-friday-night-smackown-3222013.html

The Rock said he lived near Bethlehem, PA when he was around 15/16 and he showed a dorky picture of himself at age 15:
He then said he went to Hersheyland in Pennsylvania and talked about how he ate a lot of chocolate there. The Rock talked about driving his friends around looking for a Hershey's Whatchamacallit.
"If you don't put down that candy, I'm gonna kick your candy ass." - The Rock
The Rock said when he finally found one, it was the last one and someone else was trying to grab it at the same time and he said the line above. The Rock was talking about John Cena when John Laurinaitis came out.
John said John Cena was the reason he was fired and the reason he came back.
John offered to manage The Rock. He mocked Rock's line and said together they were like a Reese peanut butter cup - two great tastes, tastes great together. The Rock said he was the most electrifying chocolate.
The Rock shook his hand and then gave him a spinebuster and a People's Elbow, leading JBL to ask, "what's wrong with peanut butter?". This whole segment took over 18 minutes without commercials.

Chris Jericho vs vs Wade Barrett
The Miz was at the booth for this.
Chris Jericho won with a suprise Codebreaker. Wade was arguing with Miz, came in and got caught immediately. The match wasn't bad, but not much was shown of it and the finish was sudden.
"His name is Fandingbat, no, Fandoodle, no, Fannaki, FanDanny Devito.." - Jericho, who then started singing Bohemian Rhapsody
"This is like Baryshnikov mixed with Ken Shamrock." - JBL
Fandango came out and then quickly walked back.
Josh Mathews interviewed Paul Heyman, or atleast tried to.
He said Brock would crush Triple H at Wrestlemania and Triple H would have to live through his employed wrestlers.
Heyman said Triple H was no match for Brock Lesnar.
This version of SD had a From The Vault Match.  I usually don't watch these but they don't call me Joshi Rob for nothing:

January 1988 - The Jumping Bomb Angels vs The Glamour Girls
Craig DeGeorge was on commentary here.
"This is getting ridiculous now. The ref keeps missing it." - Craig DeGeorge
The Glamour Girls got the win here with a gordbuster. This was a good one. The Jumping Bomb Angels vs The Glamour Girls series is one of the most underrated feuds of all time. I've seen atleast 4 matches between the two and yet have I seen a bad one. I liked the GG's working the ref here and keeping him busy while the faces tried to win and like always, they bumped nicely. Rating:***

Bench Press Challenge - Ryback vs Mark Henry
I'm predicting either Ryback getting blinded with chalk or Henry messing with Ryback during his lift. There's a better chance of The Glamour Girls running in than this one going along clean.
Booker T said if either of them violate the no contact clause, they will be banned from Wrestlemania. I should note here that Teddy Long interrupted Booker twice here and said that Henry won the coin toss in the back.

Mark Henry did 53 reps.

Mark Henry pushed down on the bar at 53, strangled him for a second with it until it went flying. I don't know how much was on it, but it wasn't that much. Henry said he didn't touch him, so he didn't break the contract. They also tried to play like Ryback was going to break the world record for this, but we all obviously know it wasn't official.

Dolph Ziggler and AJ Lee vs Kaitlyn and Daniel Bryan
They pushed here about how Team Hell No can get ready for Langston when no one ever has seen him compete. This was stupid, just as it was last week, as somehow, I can magically find matches with Big E Langston on this thing called youtube. I guess his NXT matches were all imaginary? It wouldn't be so stupid if they didn't have NXT airing in most of the non-United States world.
Kaitlyn won with a surprise spear. This had tons of shenanigans in it with interference, amongst other things. It was action packed though and Zig and DB looked good like always.

The Shield cut a promo and talked about Wrestlemania cliches and other cliches. The Shield said Sheamus/Show/Orton would implode before they beat them and that this is not a game.

The Great Khali vs Jack Swagger
Spear to the nuts
This went to a double countout and was quite bad. The crowd didn't care and they both didn't connect on some kicks they threw which looked bad. Swagger threw Horny into the rails after and Ricardo came out.
Ricardo came out and dared Jack to hurt the other leg, when Del Rio attacked.
Ricardo decked Coulter with a crutch and gave it to ADR.
Swagger got out though before he got hit.

They introduced Renee Young. She's been on NXT as an interviewer for a few weeks now. She did some stuff in Canada and has a decent fanbase it seems.
Sheamus said that Big Show promised to behave and Show took offense to this, saying he never had any issues in the first place.
Orton got them together saying they needed to focus. Randy Orton as the peacemaker is hilarious for me.

The Big Show, Sheamus and Randy Orton vs Team Rhodes Scholars and Antonio Cesaro
I almost called Cesaro "Antonio Scholar".
Sandow talked about how good of a team they'd make since they do have things in common. Antonio Cesaro did some yodeling like he did on Main Event.
Cesaro yodels during a Karelin's Lift
Josh name dropped Florida Gulf Coast University about perserving when the odds are against you and JBL said, "Josh, shut up. You don't know what you're talking about".
Sheamus won with a Brogue Kick. It was all squash here for the most part and it wasn't bad. The crowd really liked it atleast. The Shield came out after and the faces went into the crowd after them.

Overall thoughts: This is a tough one to rate. There wasn't anything bad aside from the Khali/Swagger match, but nothing really standing out either. Heyman was good and the brawl in the crowd was okay, but honestly, the best match on the show was The Bomb Angels vs The Glamour Girls from the vault. The Rock's segment wasn't really that special and John Laurinatis didn't really add to anything. I think this one is skippable, but the show was okay.
