WWE Main Event 4/17/2013 Results and Review

Last week's show is here: http://prowresblog.blogspot.com/2013/04/wwe-main-event-410013-results-and.html

Welcome to my WWE Main Event review for April 17, 2013.

Battle Royal for a Intercontinental Title shot

Wade Barrett came out and complained about having to defend the title again before having a staredown with Khali.

Justin Gabriel won the battle royale eliminating Primo. It wasn't that bad but not that great either. Santino was the most entertaining person in it and I am thrilled that Khali did not win. Alex Riley got some camera time here and JBL pushed him.

Gabriel said him and Wade used to be friends, so it is kharma that he wins tonight.

They announced a Triple Threat World Heavyweight Championship Match with Alberto Del Rio vs Dolph Ziggler vs Jack Swagger.

We then got lots of recaps from Monday. They talked about Punk walking out but didn't say anything of note, except Heyman talking about Triple H needing to say something about it on Monday.

Wade Barrett got interviewed by Striker. Striker asked him about his string of losses lately. Barrett said he beat Miz and will get back to R-Truth soon. Wade mocked Justin for jumping out of airplanes and Wade said he fights in his spare time. He said the Barrett Barrage would take a turn for the better tonight starting with Justin Gabriel.

Intercontinental Title - Wade Barrett vs Justin Gabriel

Wade Barrett beat Justin Gabriel with the Bull Hammer. Strong match here. They got a ton of time for this and it ended up being good. I would have liked to have seen Gabriel on offense a little more since he has more flashy stuff, but the stuff he did was good. Wade clonked him on the outside with a nice clothesline and later hit a great Bull Hammer for the win. This is definitely worth a look and I hope we see more 13+ minute matches with midcarders on future episodes. Rating:***1/4

Overall thoughts: I'd definitely recommend seeing the main event but the rest can be skipped.
