WWE Friday Night Smackdown 6/28/2013 Results and Review

WWE Friday Night Smackdown 6/28/2013 Results and Review

Last week's show is here:

Dublin Street Fight - Sheamus vs Damien Sandow

Sandow ripped on the crowd as usual and called them ignoramuses.
Sandow said after he wins tonight, this will be known as the "Sandow Street Fight".

Sheamus hits Sandow with potatoes and then dumps potatoes on him

Sheamus won with a Brogue Kick while Sandow was sitting on chairs. It got better near the end but wasn't that good. It was like an Attitude Era hardcore match with lots of cane shots. The Irish themed stuff was pretty absurd and I'm sure caused a bunch of Irish people to roll their eyes. This was forgettable and had little wrestling it.

DB came in to brag about beating Orton and Kane didn't want to hear it. DB said he'd be on commentary for Kane's match tonight in case Kane needed his help and Kane got mad.

MizTV with Paul Heyman
Miz talked about Paul bullying Renee Young on Raw and Paul brought out Curtis Axel to bully him.

"You know Paul, you're like the walking version of Star Wars. You sound like Yoda, smell like Chewbecca and look like the walking version of Jabba the Hut." - The Miz
Miz tried to challenge Axel and Heyman said no.
Paul tried to say Miz's catchphrase, Miz interrupted it and said his own, then ate a cutter from Axel for it.

AJ Lee vs Natalya

Kaitlyn came out dressed as AJ Lee.

She talked about AJ's past boyfriends and said she dated timekeeper Mark Yeaton.
She also said AJ had a very physical examination by WWE Physician Mark Samson.
Finally, she said AJ Lee was with Lillian Garcia.

Natalya got a roll-up win in after AJ Lee was distracted by watching Kaitlyn. Kaitlyn speared AJ Lee after. There was nothing to this match and it ended quick.

Cole announced there would be two Money in the Bank Matches. at MITB.
Teddy Long said he wanted to give prospects a chance at MITB, so he chose Wade Barrett, Jack Swagger, Antonio Cesaro, Fandango, Dean Ambrose, Cody Rhodes and Damien Sandow for his MITB match. He said Booker wouldn't of ever thought of it. Vince tried to teach Teddy how to say Fandango right after.

Kane vs Randy Orton

DB was down on commentary for this.

DB started going yes midmatch to get Kane some support.
Randy Orton won with an RKO. The match was nothing speicla and the focus was really on DB. He got up twice and tried to help cheer Kane then near the end, pushed Kane into the ring into an RKO on accident. I liked the story but didn't really like the match. Orton and Kane aren't a great combo.
DB smirked as he left.

Ryback vs Justin Gabriel
Gee, I wonder who will win this.

Ryback won in a quick match in which he got little offense in.  He caught a Gabriel corner splash with a Shellshock to win. This was good actually. Gabriel kicked the crap out of his leg and looked good doing it. After the match, Ryback held his leg while Jericho's music hit.

Jericho mocked this and Ryback being a killer. He said Ryback is a whiner.
"They should probably change your name from Ryback to Cryback."- Jericho
They then hit a skirmish and Ryback left after escaping a Walls of Jericho.

The Shield vs Christian and The Uso Brothers
This is family vs Family since The Uso's and Reigns are related.

Christian won with a surprise spear on Ambrose to get The Shield their 2nd clean loss. Good match here. It wasn't that long so they kept it action packed and did their big stuff. It was a really fun spring tag match but it really needed a lot more time. Rollins was the star here as he took a backdrop on the floor and did the great dive shown above. I do question The Shield losing again though so quickly after their first loss. WWE loves to have heels lose and I'm worried it will happen to them.Rating:***

Fiesta Del Rio
This is at least Alberto's second fiesta as he had "Fiesta Del Rio on 1/18/2013:

Ricardo said the crowd wasn't into it enough during his ADR intro and he did it again and quickly mocked SC with a country accent.
Alberto Del Rio said he would talk only in Spanish and he did for the next few minutes. I obviously got none of that.
Alberto Del Rio busted a pinata with Dolph Ziggler's head on it. He then called out Dolph.

Dolph got the advantage of ADR and they fought as he entered. Dolph cleared out ADR then sent Ricardo through a snack table and hit him with a guitar.

Overall thoughts: The show was okay as a whole. It had campy and cheesy WWE moments which were of varying degress of quality. I really only got into The Shield's match here and on a wrestling perspective, that's all you need to see here wrestling wise.
