Stardom 5/26/2019

Stardom 5/26/2019

This is in Konami's hometown and is kind of a Konami show, so she gets to main event. This is the 3rd show in 2 days.

Konami introduces us to the show, saying they are in her home town of Fukuyama. She said she wants to get the win.

Leo Onozaki vs Saki Kashima
Promos: Leo said its her first time in Fukuyama. She said she fought Saki once before and wants her first victory against her. Saki said next month she will have her own homecoming show and wants to set the tone with a win.

Leo refuses to shake to start out. Saki flips out of an armlock and does her own. Saki takes over early with a slam and stomps. Leo and Saki trade shots. Saki double jumps off the ropes and facebusters her. Saki goes into the ropes and misses and takes a big forearm then a Leo cutter for 2. Saki comes back with a double underhook suplex and gets rolled up off a stomp. Saki does a double underhook sit out slam and wins it. This was a super quick squash here, but Leo got some stuff in atleast.

Saya Iida vs Andras Miyagi
Promos: Andras gets interrupted by a PA announcement and said it's gonna be a bad ending. Saya said she will win with the Iidabashi and won't lose(yeah right).

Andras tries to dropkick a camera man on the outside then yells into a camera. Andras keeps her jacket on and doesn't want to be patted down. They get on the mat to start and Andras clean breaks. Andras hits her with some hard punches and bullies her around. Andras argues with the ref and gets rolled up. Iida finally gets some offense in with dropkicks and puts Andras in a half crab. Iida comes off the ropes, Andras throws the ref in front of her and kicks her, but Iida then rolls her up. Saya then kind of pins herself and loses in a waste of time match.

Queen's Quest - Momo Watanabe and Bea Priestley vs STARS - Starlight Kid and Arisa Hoshiki
Promos: Kid says its their first time in Fukuyama. Kid said she will do her best not to get lost in all this talent. Momo said she's never been here either and wants to entertain.

QQ refuses the handshake. Kid does a hurricanrana on Bea early and gets slammed down after, before getting put in the camel clutch. Bea tears at her mask some and then Kid gets worked over and bullied by Momo. Momo catches kid and tries to slam her down, but Kid rolls herself around and armdrags her down, then gets Arisa in. Arisa cleans house, hitting the vader bomb double knees on Momo's back. Then she kicks Momo right in the back of the head and kick combos her body. Bea gets in and double jumps off the ropes to escape Arisa, then backdrops Arisa hard. She then highkicks her and clutch suplexes her. Arisa comes back with a brogue/bicycle knee then does her headkick off the top rope. We get a double hot tag and Momo dropkicks Kid in the corner, then uranage's her. Momo misses a double knee press, then gets set up and hit with the 619. Kid does her standing moonsault for 2. She lets the forearms fly on Momo's chest and everyone's in the ring. Kid does a tilt-a-whirl ddt on Momo then does her 180 splash. Kid then does a roll-up for a close nearfall. Bea hits a Saito suplex on Arisa and Kid takes double kicks and a Momo double knee press for 2. Momo high kicks and chickenwings her for the win. Fast paced fun match here. It didn't stop at all and was what it needed to be.

Oedo Tai - Hazuki and Natsuko Tora vs Tokyo Cyber Squad - Hana Kimura and Jungle Kyona
Promos: OT is hard to hear over music. Tora says she doesn't care about TCS and Hazuki said she wants to get the local food speciality after the match. Hana and Jungle said they should take turns saying good things about Konami with the loser having to make a face. Jungle loses when she says she has a fish face.

TCS has once again ditched the camo. Is it only for trios matches? OT throws TCS into chairs outside early. They try to throw TCS into each other on the outside, but TCS reverses it and OT collides. Hazuki takes a hard ride into the chairs and Tora gets beaten with a fan by Hana. Tora gets worked over by TCS as we get back in. Tora bites the ankle of Hana and spears her hard, then gets Hazuki in. Hazuki get the advantage on TCS and crossfacres Hana, which Jungle stops. Hana hits a big standing dropkick on Tora and then follows with another. Hana then stretches her with her usual octopus hold and keeps control of the match. Jungle gets in and knocks down Tora with shoulderblocks, and that feud has been pretty much forgotten. Hazuki gets back in and facewashes Jungle then michinoku drivers her for 2. Jungle takes back over by throwing her off the top then hits a sliding lariat on her. OT tries to double dropkick Jungle, but Jungle counters and double suplexes both of them. TCS hits double john woo style dropkicks on Hazuki and Jungle splashes her from the top for 2. Tora takes the advantage back by spearing both TCS members, then ends up nailing her partner with the OT sign. Jungle deadlifts Hazuki for a powerbomb, but Hazuki gets her to fall down then she rolls her up for the win. Totally random finish there but it is a good win for OT, who hasn't gotten a ton of wins lately. This wasn't anything special.

Hazuki says after the match that TCS has a lot of nerve saying they want to defend the trios titles against OT. Hazuki said they aren't even interested in them, but they want a shot at the tag titles instead. Hazuki mocks Utami on the outside and tells her to heal up so they can defend the titles. Hana got on the mic and blames Jungle for the loss. She said she doesn't care about OT and their next defense of the trios belts will be against Kagetsu, Andras and Sumire. Andras and Jungle have a stare down after.

I'm skipping the Konami vs Kagetsu main, atleast for now. It's over 30 minutes or so and I'm just not that interested in that.

Overall thoughts: While I didn't watch the main, the rest of the show wasn't anything too special and was skipable.

Stardom 5/25/2019 Night Show

Stardom 5/25/2019 Night Show

Saya Iida vs Natsuko Tora
Promos: Tora said she was trired and wants to end it quick. Iida says she wants to show Tora what she's learned from facing her many times.

Iida gets bullied early, having her head rammed into the buckle and having her face stepped on. More bullying by Tora followed. Tora rushed the corner but Iida moved. Iida then hit a bunch of dropkicks and forearms. She hit her backslide and the Iidabashi on Tora for 2 counts. Tora then went back on offense with a spear and won it with a frog splash, as if the ending was ever in doubt on this time filler.

Leo Onozaki vs Andras Miyagi
Promos: Andras has given up the no talking thing. She said Leo doesn't impress her and she will make an example of her. Leo said she scouted her during her earlier match with Kid and said she would use her brain for the win.

Leo gets jumped at the bell and sent outside. They go back in Leo takes some hard left hooks from Andras. Leo tries to fight back with shots of her own. Andras still has her OT jacket on at this point.  Leo hits some back elbows and gets a few nearfalls. Leo comes off the ropes and Andras throws the ref in front of her. Then she kicks her and wins with something like a chinlock/sleeper while she is on top of her in quick fashion. Another time filler squash that does nothing for anyone.

Queen's Quest - Momo Watanabe and Bea Priestley vs Oedo Tai - Kagetsu and Natsu Sumire
Promos: OT said they will do their best, not their half-assed best. Natsu said she is looking forward to this and has her shoulder taped. Momo said they were looking forward to this also.

Momo and Kag start it out on the mat then get out and do the usual stand off. Kag then knocks down Bea, while Natsu holds Momo. Kag runs up to Momo, stops then gut punches her. Natsu gets out the whip, but the ref and her fight over it. Natsu then grabs a fan, which the ref didn't get when checking for weapons I guess and hits Momo with it. Momo blocks Natsu's bronco buster and tags out. Bea puts Natsu in the rings of saturn before it is broken up. Kag and Bea go at it. Bea blocks her strike combo and kicks her, but then takes a kick and gives her one back. Momo gets back in and gets crossbody'd by Natsu off the top. Momo hits corner dropkicks on her and a bad uranage followed by a double knee press. Kag mists Momo in the corner with water and Momo gets double teamed by OT. Natsu hits the cuty special but Bea breaks it up. OT takes a double dropkick from Bea and Natsu kicks out of Momo's MK Ultra B-Driver. Natsu then gets tapped out to a crossface chickenwing by Momo. This didn't have enough time to be anything special here, especially for a tag match. This was easily the most predictable result as Momo could use a win and Natsu doesn't need one.

Tokyo Cyber Squad - Hana Kimura, Jungle Kyona and Konami vs STARS - Saki Kashima, Arisa Hoshiki and Starlight Kid
Promos: Stars is wearing stuff from Mayu and Tam, who aren't here. They said they will do their best in a bad promo. Hana calls Stars small fish, and they said they will win and fool around during the whole promo, even screwing up their own pose.

TCS are the reigning Artist of Stardom champs here and I'd expect them to win this. TCS are back to the camo after not wearing it earlier. Kid cartwheels out of a dropdown early and Jungle blocks her armdrag, slamming her down. Kid hits the satellite headscissors and Stars triple teams Jung. Kid gets her 619 blocked and is spin around in a slam position, knocking down her teammates. Jung then just drops her out of the ring. They fight outside with Hana tying Kid's mask to a pole on the outside. Stars comes to help and Kid trips going down the stairs trying to make the count. Hana blocks Kid from getting in but she finally slips in. Jung backbreakers Kid, jumping up and down. Konami and Kid exchange shots with Konami winning the exchange, but Kid recovers with a standing moonsault and a tag. Arisa gets the hot tag in and Stars lines up TCS on the ropes for triple dropkicks.

Arisa and Konami go at it, trading high kicks, with them kicking each other at the same time. Arisa then does a brogue knee and takes her down. Kid perfectplex's Hana for 2, then does a spinning neckbreaker on her. She hits her 180 splash for 2 and does a satellite headscissors into a pin. Hana stops it with a dropkick but Stars stops Hana's tag. Hana sideslams Saki for 2 and Saki comes back with a grounded choke on Hana. Hana deadlifts her and then suplexes her back. TCS double teams Saki and Hana hits a big missile dropkick on her for the win. I liked this one. Wasn't the best they could have done, but there wasn't anything too wrong with it.

Stardom High Speed Title - Hazuki vs Death Yama-San
Promos: Death just does her pose. Hazuki said she has to be careful with her becaue she doesn't know her and she wants a successful defense.

They start off real fast with reversals and pin attempts before they do the stand off with Death's pose. They both try for super fast pin attempts but can't get it. They trade facelocks on the mat and Hazuki facewashes her out of the ring. She then does a nice tope on her through the ropes while TCS and OT battle on the outside. Hazuki tries to dive again but Death chairs her. Death hits a nice spin kick to her head and does a nice german on her for 2. Hazuki then la magistral's her out of nowhere and wins this short match. I did not see that ending, but definitely felt robbed by it, since this was such a limited show as is.

Hazuki got on mic after and said she was tired from her quick match, which was only 5:33. Hazuki said she expects to be paid more since it went longer than her usual 4 minutes. Haz said she was happy they had a title match and did the death pose. Death said she was disappointed and ran out the ring. Haz said it was her 7th defense with 8 defenses being the record. She called out any challengers and Saki came in. Saki said she want the Artist titles back and said she lost both matches today, saying she is worthless without Tam and Mayu. Haz agreed, which she didn't like. Saki then made the challenge. Haz said Saki lost today and called her stupid. She told her to build up her weak body and challenge her. Haz then said because she won, OT can close the show. They shilled tickets. OT said they are the best, and the worst, they are Oedo Tai to close the show.

Overall thoughts: Pretty lame show and lame day in general. Everything on both shows was rushed and nothing too major happened.

Stardom 5/25/2019 Day Show

Stardom 5/25/2019 Day Show

Leo Onozaki vs Konami

Promos: Leo said this is her first singles match vs Konami, and she wants to avoid the Triangle lancer. Konami said she will see how Leo has grown since joining QQ, but said she will beat her with the triangle lancer.

Leo dropkicks her to start off. They trade some forearms and Konami stands on her in the corner and kicks her. It's pretty obvious this is going to be a squash. Konami pounds on her more but Leo gets some good forearms in. Leo hits a running cutter on her. Konami armbar her, but Leo gives her one back. Konami takes over again with kicks and gets a fisherman's for 2. She tries for the triangle lancer, but Leo rolls her up. They then miss a kick and Leo takes a rough looking german and a buzzsaw kick for the Konami win. I thought Leo looked really good here showing some fire and getting a bunch of offense in.

Saya Iida vs Natsu Sumire

Promos: Natsu said she doesn't have much to say, but that's enough for Iida. Iida said she will watch out for Natsu's weapons and win with her Iidabashi pin attempt.

Natsu has a new costume here, ditching her purple for see-thru and white. I really liked her old costume. They trade hammerlocks to start. Natsu then starts picking on Iida. Natsu wraps her legs around Iida's head and presses on her. Saki is down on the apron and gets on it, and Natsu yells at the ref to get her off. Of course she then grabs her whip and nails Iida with it. Natsu does her bronco buster to her. Natsu goes up top and iida follows her. Natsu rips her saying she doesn't have a brainbuster or other moves to use up there. They have a minute discussion up there and Iida gets down, then Natsu tries to debate her. She tells her to move away then gets closer, then tries to crossbody her. Iida moved though then dropkicks her. During the whole discussion, Natsu said your 3rd rate if you hurt someone and 2nd rate if you hurself yourself doing moves. Iida goes into the ropes and comes in and Natsu claps in her face, distracting her and rolling her up for 2. Iida then gets her Iidabashi reversed out of and she gets pinned. Not a good one here and they kind of exposed the business.

Starlight Kid vs Andras Miyagi

Promos: Andras is seemingly back to talking now. Atleast she's good at it. She said Kid will be one of the first people she serves with teaching them something new. Kid asked if Andras was from the demon world. She said it's their first match together and she would do her best.

They wrestle on the mat to start. Kid reverses out an armlock with a handstand and a go around into an armdrag and a dropkick before Andras starts stomping her and takes over. Kid tries to fight back with forearms but gets sent down with just one. Kid comes back with a botched hurricanrana, a 619 and a standing moonsault for 2. Andras takes back over with a backdrop and a dropkick and they botch a tilt-a-whirl for their third botch of the match. Kid hits a perfectplex that Andras kinds of falls out of for 2. Andras dodges a 180 splash and they trade pin attempts. andras pushes the ref in front of Kid, then nails her with a chair(which they have trouble getting in the ring) and tombstones her for the win. A not good match with a lame finish that had a lot of botches.

Queen's Quest - Momo Watanabe and Bea Priestley vs STARS - Saki Kashima and Arisa Hoshiki

Promos: Saki said its the first time they have teamed. Then they get shy and that's about the end of the promo. Momo said she's at the bottom after losing her belt and she's ready to rise up. Bea says nothing.

Stars wants a shake and QQ attacks them, but Stars wins the exchange. Momo gets double teamed with dropkicks but comes back and kicks on Saki before tagging out. Bea takes control on Saki, kicking her hard in the back and stomping her arm before getting Momo back in. Saki headscissors her after taking some kicks and gets Arisa in there. Arisa hits a nice kick combo on her. Arisa springboard double knees her for 2 and Momo hits corner dropkicks on her. Bea gets in again and face kicks Arisa and takes a hard brogue kick. They trade brogue knees then hit each other with them at the same time. Arisa buzzsaw kicks her and tags to Saki, who blocks Bea's tag. Saki hits some offense. Everyone gets in and Saki takes a MK Ultra and a penalty kick for 2. Saki rolls Bea up on an ocean cyclone attempt and gets buzzsaw kick'd in the head. Bea then ocean cyclone suplexes her for the win. This was fine and had some good shots in it.

Oedo Tai - Kagetsu, Natsuko Tora and Hazuki vs Tokyo Cyber Squad - Hana Kimura, Jungle Kyona and Death Yama-San

Promos: OT said Toa's nickname now is Katana-chan and they said they'd do their usual half-assed best. TCS said Death isn't with them and it's the first time they all teamed together. They argued over who Death Yama-San was, saying it's not Yoneyama. They said when she enters the venue she is Yoneyama, but then she uses magic and becomes Death Yama-san, saying it is a seret. They said Yone would transform today into Death.

TCS is back to the individual gear without the camo for some reason. TCS does the Death pose to each other. Kyona and Tora start off and that feud pretty much feels over already, which they really dropped the ball on. They exchange some minor holds and do the usual stare down after. TCS gets in and triple teams Hazuki. As expected, everyone brawls outside. Tora chokes Death with a rope on the outside. They get back in and OT gets the advantage on Death. Death grabs 2 OT members then runs the ropes and does a sitdown flip to armdrag them both down. Jungle gets in and suplexes both OT members and her and Hana trade attacks on them. Jungle and Tora criss cross each other and Tora takes a big forearm. They trade some shots before Tora spears her down. Hana and Kagetsu have a nice hate filled forearm exchange. Hana hits her octopus stretch on Kagetsu but OT breaks it up, then Hana gets triple teamed by OT. Death hits a top rope northern lights on Kagetsu, then she gets double dropkicked. Everyone hits everyone and Hazuki hits a brogue kick on Death, who then spin kicks hers. Hana and Kag do bad double yakuza kicks to each other, which looked like they totally missed. Death then wins it out of nowhere with a yoshi-tonic on Hazuki. This was pretty fast paced and had a lot of action, so it was hard to hate it. It was definitely rushed though. The match seemed to be building towards some kind of Hana vs Kagetsu match.

TCS grabbed the mic after. They said Death is the final weapon for TCS and said Death will challenge for Hazuki's High Speed title at the night show that follows. Death just did her pose and Hana said she wants Death to destroy Hazuki. TCS then did their pose and lines to close the show, with Revel Kel and the young girls missing. Hana tried to organize the crowd into chanting their line, and they were not into it at all.

Overall thoughts: Day shows on doubleheaders are rarely ever anything special as they want to save themselves for the night ahead. The final two matches were fine, but this was very skippable.
