WOW Women of Wrestling 2/10/2024 Season 4, Episode 22

WOW Women of Wrestling 2/10/2024 Season 4, Episode 22

Last week's show is here: https://prowresblog.blogspot.com/2024/02/wow-women-of-wrestling-232024-season-4.html

NOTE - The info on this one advertised Holidead vs Katarina Jinx, but that was not on this show.

Abilene Maverick comes out to talk. The crowd chants "you suck". She says she's the champ and doesn't suck. She said she is defending her WOW Title against Princess Aussie tonight. She mocks Princess Aussie, saying she heard what she said about losing her title and said it touched her. She said she's kidding and tells her to keep her tears while she keeps her championship. She said she will keep proving why she is the VIP.

WOW Trios Tournament Semifinals - The Brat Pack (BK Rhythm, Gigi Gianni and Lil J-Boogie) vs Team Spirit (Ariel Sky, Pep Riley and Sasha Sparks)

This is Sasha Sparks' debut. BK calls the faces benchwarmers in her rap. Sasha headlocks BK then shoulders her over. Sasha flying headscissors her then armdrags her off the casadora. Sasha then dropkicks her. Pep cartwheels into a crossbody on BK and rolls her up. BK throws Pep off of her and Gigi pulls Pep's hair in the corner.

J snapmares Pep then suplexes her. Gigi chops Pep the pie faces her. Pep is choked over the 2nd rope while the rest of The Grat Pack poses. J waves to the camera then Gigi knees Pep on the ropes. Gigi slams Pep then handstand rolls onto her. BK spinning sidewalk slams Pep then elbow drops her.

Pep double boots BK out of the corner the 2nd rope crossbodies her. Sky forward cartwheels into a lariat. Sky comes off the 2nd rope with a hurricanrana on Gigi and is not getting up. Gigi chinlocks Sky. Sky tries to irish whip her but she is dazed and out of it. The ref calls off the match. This was declared a no-contest.

It was going to well up until the finish. This is Team Spirit's debut as a trio and Sasha's debut, so it's sad to see Ariel get hurt in that of all the things. WOW got lucky with this though as they debuted Sasha here and she can fill in for Sky if needed.

Ariel Sky is still being checked on as we return from break. Ariel is still trying to recover. The medics help her out and the crowd cheers for her.

We see clips of Miami's Sweet Heat costing The Mother Truckers the four way tag from a few shows ago.

Miami's Sweet Heat talk. They are mad Dave McLane gave a tag title match to The Mother Truckers. They claim they are always being screwed by them. They say they will take their frustrations out in the ring and show who the real champs are.

No Disqualification - Miami's Sweet Heat (Lindsay and Laurie Carlson) vs The Mother Truckers (Big Rig Betty and Holly Swag)

Vickie Lynn McCoy and Penelope Pink are on commentary.

Laurie has the black hair and Lindsay has the blonde hair. The Truckers rush to the ring and pounds on them as chaos ensues. Lindsay bangs Betty's head off the mat. Betty's head is banged off the buckles. Betty is stomped on in the corner then choked over the middle rope. Lana Starr helps beat up Betty while the ref isn't looking.

Laurie bangs Betty's head off the buckles then Lindsay does as well. Betty chops and headbutts Lindsay then Lindsay stomps her. Laurie goes up top and does a coast to coast dropkick on Betty, which was impressive. Lindsay chinlocks Betty then Laurie holds Betty for gut punches.

Betty is thrown off the top then Laurie foot chokes her. The twins miss a charge then Holly is tagged in. Holly comes off the ropes on Laurie and superkicks her. Lindsay does a nice running forearm to knock Betty off the apron. Holly is thrown out then Holly and Betty grab road signs. The twins go to dive on them and get hit with the road signs. The Truckers then get the win.

It was short and despite being no DQ, they mostly stuck to the rules. The heels cheated but still did it behind the ref's back even though they couldn't be DQ'd. It was overall still good though. The coast to coast dropkick was good and the dives into the road signs were nice spots.

The Fabulous Four beat up The Truckers with the road signs and trash cans after.

We see clips from the Team Spirit vs Brat Pack match earlier. They show Ariel Sky being injured again. They said she has a concussion and a severely sprained neck which is sad to hear. They speculate as to what Coach Campanelli and Team Spirit will do now.

WOW World Title - Abilene Maverick (c) vs Princess Aussie

They lock up and Aussie side headlocks her. Aussie headscissors her and Ab hits boots. Aussie goes up and over and armdrags her. Aussie spin kicks her in the gut, snapmares her and sliding lariats her.

Aussie hits a nice splash in the corner then Ab hanging armbars her over the top rope. Ab pulls her by the hair then monkey flips her. Ab wristlocks her. Aussie armdrags, lariats and back elbows her. Aussie puts her in an indian deathlock and Ab ropebreaks.

Ab spears her on the apron then knee drops her. Aussie cradles her then hits a superkick. Aussie dragon suplexes her for 2. Aussie goes up and over in the corner and flying headscissors her. Aussie hits a cutter then Ab rolls out. Aussie stomps her outside. Ab back elbows her, then uses the ropes and grabs the tights of Aussie to pin her.

The finish was kind of sudden here and could have been done better. This was not your typical WOW match with the girls being given more time and doing more than we usually see. I was really surprised to see Aussie bust out the dragon suplex in this one. I'm not really surprised Aussie lost as they didn't build it up that well and this seems like it's the start of a program between these two and not the end.

Overall thoughts: They gave us a pretty good show here with a no DQ match, a title match and a debuting wrestler. Sadly, Ariel Sky got injured in her match and that kind of haunted most of this program. The no DQ tag wasn't perfect but what we got was good and the main was way above WOW's usual standards. I wouldn't really recommend this one though.
