TNA Xplosion 2/9/2024

TNA Xplosion 2/9/2024

Last week's show is here: https://prowresblog.blogspot.com/2024/02/tna-xplosion-222024.html

Jai Vidal vs Laredo Kid

Jay asks for a handshake then pulls his hand away. Kid side headlocks him and cartwheels over him. Kid rolls him into an leg submission. Jay tries to tell the rough he's injured then Jay pulls at Kid's mask. Jay does a tornado ddt build up into a suplex, which I would call a tornado suplex.

We go to break and return. Jay chinlocks him then takes double boots out of the corner. Kid enzugiri's him from the apron then top rope dropkicks him. Kid asai moonsaults him on the outside.

Kid running forearms him in the corner and michinoku drivers him. Kid bottom and 2nd rope corkscrew moonsaults him. Jay gets his feet up on Kid's top rope moonsault. Jay flying single leg dropkicks him for 2.

Kid suplexes him, hits another then northern lights suplexes him for 2. Jay spinning enzugiri's him then kips up. Jay bangs Kid's head off the mat then chokes him. Jay goes for another tornado suplex and is seated up top.  Kid then hits a top rope spanish fly and wins it.

It was a quick one here with some highlights and flying. It was a fun little match with no issues. Kid looked good as he usually does here.

Around The Ring with Gia Miller

Kevin Knight is this week's guest. He roller skates. He said he was bored during the pandemic and said there is a lot of roller skating in Atlanta, where he's from. He said he got a big scar from it. He said he's not a big club person, so he goes out to the rink. Gia said she can't roller skate at all. She said she triedto work at Sonic and fell.

Kevin said skating is all in the toes and ankles. He said he had a calf injury and it rehabbed his hurt calf. Kevin has his skates with him and shows them off. Gia said she has to do a follow-up episode with him to try roller skating.

This was better than last week's episode as we learned some new things about Kevin we didn't know about.

They show some clips of a Mr. Kennedy vs D'Angelo Dinero match form back in the day.

Shera vs Jake Something

They lock up and roll on the ropes with it. Shera side headlocks him and they collide with shoulders. They get in the corners and charge at each other with shoulders. Shera is knocked over. Shera asks him to pound fists then cheapshots him. Shera clubs him then slams him into the buckles. Shera slams him down.

Shera clubs his back and they trade shots. Shera delay suplexes him, hits some punches then is slammed. Shera lariats him in the back of the neck then foot chokes him. Shera knees and clubs him, then kneels on him over the 2nd rope. Shera elbow drops him then throws him into the buckles.

Shera stands on Jake's back then Shera short arm lariats him. Shera talks trash and Jake starts to hulk up. Jake hits forearms and drops him with one. They collide shoulders and Jake knocks him over. Jake hits lariats and a coner spear.

Jake is back body dropped off a powerbomb attempt. They block each others chokeslams then Jake body blocks him. Jake black hole slams him and wins it.

This was a fun, 1980's WWF style heavyweight match. These two worked it well and stuck to mostly power moves here. It wasn't exactly Sekimoto vs Okabayashi but for a short throwaway power matchup, it worked. I just wish Jake would change his name. Literally, anything other than Jake Something would be an improvement.

Overall thoughts: Only two matches here and an interview segment. All of those things were fine and it was a fun little show. I wouldn't recommend it, but it's not a bad way to spend an hour.
