MLW Fusion #120 2/3/2021

MLW Fusion #120 2/3/2021

Last week's show is here: https://prowresblog.blogspot.com/2021/01/mlw-fusion-119-1272021.html

Sentai Death Squad with Daivari vs Jordan Oliver with Myron Reed

Myron Reed did an inset promo. He said they took the masks of Contra before and asks if they had their attention and challenged Contra to a 2v2 match next week.

Sentai Death Squad is just one guy today, apparently. They start off fast and Oliver hits a face kick. Oliver dropkicks Sentai in the corner. Myron has a new chest protector and Jordan does a cutter off the 2nd buckle to win in a very quick match.

Oliver did a promo after. He said he gained 50 pounds in the last year and is now a heavyweight. He said he was coming for Fatu's MLW Title.

Salina de la Renta did a promo. She said Savio Vega's honor and pride was hurting and said Vega let down Puerto Rico last week. Reina said Vega's IWA is lacking money and the backer of Promociones Dorado has made Vega a big offer for it.

They talked about Tim Donaghy (the ref) messing up the match with Holliday/Vega last week. He is the same ref who fixed NBA games, which I can tell you are often as fixed as wrestling.

Alicia Atout said MLW will investigate what happened. Supposedly there were suspicious referee re-assignments and some odd betting patterns. I want to bet on some MLW.

The Von Erich's did a video package. They said they weren't invited to the Filthy Island show but said they would come anyway. They said they wanted to choke out Garrini with a bull rope.

MLW Tag Team Championship - Los Parks (c) with Salina de la Renta vs Bu Ku Dao and TJP

Someone else came out with Los Parks and St. Laurent explained that it was an associate of Azteca Underground. Hijo de LA Park stepped on Dao's leg then did a half-nelson in a neat submission. TJP went after LA Park, who pushed down Dao. Dao ran the ropes and Park kicked him in the back then the Parks stomped on him. The ref was distracted and TJP shoved Dao out to pound on Hijo. TJP hit a flying headscissors on Hijo then TJP and Dao both dove on their opponents.

Dao did a la mistica into a crossface on Hijo and TJP did an octopus on Park but both moves were broken up.TJP did an inside to out springboard dropkick on Park then Dao did like a spinning reverse STO. Hijo hit a big dropkick on Dao in the corner. Hijo and Dao double clotheslined each other and Selina got on the apron. The azteca underground guy pulled out L.A. Park Jr from under the ring, then he came in shoulder breakered Dao for the win. This was an odd finish and the problem with it was that Hijo and Jr have similar but different gear making it easy to see that they aren't the same person. I'm not sure why that finish was really needed for this.

Dao wanted to shake hands after with TJP and TJP shoved him down.

The announcers were talking and Krugger of Contra interrupted. He talked but it was impossible to hear any of it.

Lio Rush did a promo from his car. He talked about Laredo Kid. Rush said he didn't know who Kid was but he likes gold and he knows Kid has it. They said it would be an interpromotional title fight, which isn't clear as to what it means. Then they did a graphic that said its the MLW World Middleweight Title vs the AAA World Cruiserweight Title, so I guess its title for title?

They said Calvin Tankman returns next week. He hasn't been on TV for a while.

We had The Filthy Island Control Center. Atout was dressed up with beach sunglasses and a polka dot outfit. Lawlor did a promo with Ku and Garrini. They were clearly in front of a green screen and Lawlor said Filthy Island was better than the Von Erich's island. He said you could come to Filthy Island and basically get beaten up by all of them. Ku said he got an email but Lawlor told him it was spam and tried to hush him up. Lawlor said everything was good on Filthy Island and they are having a blast. They said Ku, Lawlor and Garrini would be on the show. They announced King Mo vs Low-Ki for the show.

Alexander Hammerstone did a promo saying Contra had him come out to the middle of nowhere. He said he was coming for Fatu next.

Gringo Loco vs Gino Medina

We have 14 minutes left in the show here and we have this and the Baklei Brawl left. Loco armdrags Gino early. Gringo does a standing moonsault but Gino moves. Gino said he will fight Loco with one hand and then snapmares him. Loco does a springboard armdrag off the ropes then takes a leg sweep off the apron.

Medina does a headstand headlock. Loco tries to trip Gino by getting on all fours behind him but Gino mostly trips himself. Loco does a cancun tornado off the 2nd rope for 2. Gino does a spinning kick and Loco does an enzugiri. Gino does a running knee into Loco on the ropes and almost goes over the top. Loco rolls up Gino but Gino reverses it and wins. This wasn't bad with Loco really standing out with his flying.

Gino then does a promo in half-spanish, half-English. I couldn't understand most of it making it a waste of time. Loco then interrupted and dove on Gino and they brawled.

Baklei Brawl - Alexander Hammerstone vs Mads Krugger

We have 4 minutes for this. Hammerstone and the Ref were both lost and the Ref said they shouldn't be here. They were in front of some kind barbed wire fence. Mads appeared from near a dumpster. Hanmer got his head banged off a gate and had a gate swung into his hand and face. Mads threw a pallet at Hammer but Hammer ducked. Mads was thrown into the side of a dumpster. Hammer called him a "big piece of sh!t" and threw him into the dumpster again then won. Hammer then figured out this wasn't the real Krugger and the real Krugger decked him. The video then cut out.

This was disappointing. The first Hammer/Krugger match had no finish and this didn't have a real finish either or even Krugger in it. This obviously isn't the end of this, but I'm getting tired of caring about this match and not getting an ending.

Overall thoughts: Not a good one. The main event was bogus and the finish on the Los Parks match sucked.
