ECW 12/27/1996 - Rob Van Dam and Sabu vs The Eliminators

ECW 12/27/1996 - Rob Van Dam and Sabu vs The Eliminators

The finish
The Eliminators beat Rob Van Dam and Sabu after they hit Total Elimination. This was not good at all and was little else but spots. They chain wrestled for like a minute and then just started going into the cool moves. Powerbombs were treated like body slams here and RVD took more random kicks than guys in kung fu movies. The match really had no flow to it or story except for I suppose the Eliminators being much much better than Sabu and RVD, but yet neither RVD or Sabu tried to get sympathy from the crowd. The random Sabu table spot was ugly looking and Sabu took at least half of it onto the hard floor which had to hurt. The crowd was also really bad here, chanting for Taz, chanting about their missed spots and in general just being pretty disrespectful while these guys killed themselves. I think this match could have worked, but it would have required doing about half the stuff they did and the wrestlers interacting with the crowd, which they completely forgot to do. I would have had The Elims do some of their double team moves early, gaining a clear advantage on RVD then I would have had him make the hot tag into Sabu, who could clear house. They could have then done their cool spots and at worst, this would have been better than what they got. This match was everything wrong about wrestling in 2018 in 1996 and I could see the same people who think the stuff we have now is the best ever loving the hell out of this.
