Marigold 11/14/2024 Winter Wonderful Fight 2024

Chika Goto did the show introduction as usual. Nanae Takahashi talked to start the show and I think she announced she is out for today.

Naho Yamada vs Hummingbird

Naho wristlocks her. Hum reverses it. Hum side headlock takeovers her. Hum headflips out of a headscissors then Naho dropkicks her. Naho hits more dropkicks then hair throws her. Naho slams her. Naho puts her in a figure four and bridges. Naho wraps Hum's leg around the ropes and dropkicks it.

Naho bodyscissors rolls her and they trade pin attempts. Hum corner dropkicks her then hanging triangles her. Hum running dropkicks her for 2. Naho hits a running headhunter and 2nd rope diving shoulderblocks her. They trade shots and Hum la magistral's her for 2. Hum does a bridge pin for 2.

Hum does a spinning headscissors then spin kicks her in the head. Hum hits a top rope frogsplash and wins.

Thoughts: It was a little better than expected but it was mostly just the girls doing their moves without a lot else to it.  

Rea Sato vs Minami Yuuki

Whoever put this one together is a brave one. They trade chest forearms on the ropes and Yuuki dropkicks her. Yuuki does snapmares then slams her. Rea corner dropkicks her then facebusters her. Rea hits a dropkick for 2.

Rea pulls Yuuki's arms back then does a cattle mutilation. Rea pulls Yuuki's arm around the ropes. Rea slams Yuuki for 2. Rea crabs her. Yuuki slams her and does a wrist-clutch guillotine hold. Rea then taps out.

Thoughts: They kept this one short which was smart. There was only like one sloppy moments here and it beat expectations. It still wasn't much though.

Misa Matsui and Komomo Minami vs Bozilla and Myla Grace

KM = Komomo Minami

KM hits a dropkick to start and Myla takes a double dropkick. KM slams her. Misa gets in and crossbodies Myla against the bottom rope. Misa fisherman suplexes Myla for 2. Boz comes in and double lariats her opponents. Boz the throws Myla on her opponents outside.

Myla does a border city stretch and Misa ropebreaks. Myla dropkicks Misa through the ropes. Myla twisting suplexes her for 2. They trade chest forearms. Myla does a twisting double underhook drop on her. Myla backdrops her.

Misa takes a suplex top rope flying crossbody combo but Myla doesn't hit it right and Misa has a rough fall. Boz sentons Misa for 2. Boz corner splashes Misa then superplexes her. Boz running lariats Misa for 2. Boz F-5's KM. Misa hurricanrana's Boz. Boz chest forearms Misa over.

Misa flying knees Boz in the corner. Misa top rope dropkicks Boz and Boz no sells it. KM comes in and dropkicks Boz several times. Boz walks away from one and KM sleepers her on her back. Boz dropkicks KM off the buckles for 2. Myla and Boz do stereo sitout slams for 2.

Boz forearms KM over then Boz does a double samoan drop on her opponents. Boz then does a double vader bomb and wins.

Thoughts: They tried to put over that KM and Misa could survive Boz here but I didn't really buy it. Myla nearly killed Misa on a botched suplex + crossbody combo. I thought this went longer than it needed to and didn't think that much of it.

Victoria Yuzuki and Kizuna Tanaka vs Nagisa Nozaki and CHIAKI

Yuz = Victoria Yuzuki, Kiz = Kizuna Tanaka, NN = Nagisa Nozaki

Chi has dark hair now and it's a downgrade. Chi ducks Yuz's lockups. Chi side headlocks Yuz. NN trips Yuz then curbstomps her. NN reverse pendulum kicks her. Yuz flying headscissors NN and basement dropkicks her. Yuz takes a facewash kick on the ropes from NN. 

Chi facewash kicks Yuz on the ropes then Yuz facewash kicks her. Chi facewash kicks her then slams her. Chi cartwheel double knee drops her. Chi hits a powerslam then takes a double dropkick. Yuz hip throws Chi.

Kiz hits a top rope dropkick on Chi for 2 then armbars her. Kiz goes for a triangle and is slammed out of it. Chi eye rakes Kiz then rolling spears her. Kiz dropkicks NN. NN run at her but Yuz trips NN from the outside. NN takes a double attitude adjustment and a double kick to the face.

NN double chops Kiz and Kiz cradles her for 2. Kiz running knees her then fisherman suplexes her for 2. NN chickenwings Kiz and Yuz breaks it up. NN pounds on Kiz then does a straight punch. Kiz hits re:dream on NN for 2. NN facekicks Kiz over and mule kicks her. Kiz takes a kick to the face then a sitout burning hammer for 2.

NN basement dropkicks Kiz and wins.

Thoughts: Nagisa isn't really able to take her matches to the next level. You get to the middle of the match and things just stop there. That's what happened here. Kiz and Yuz needed to get beat up more and needed to get a big comeback to get this over and that never happened. I'm also not a fan of Chiaki using the burning hammer as a mid-match move. Kiz and Yuz did the right stuff here but this was not going to be great.

Marigold TwinStar Tag Titles - MIRAI and Mai Sakurai (c) vs Utami Hayashishita and Kouki Amarei

Mirai and Kouki mat wrestle. Kouki headscissors her and they tag out. Mai and Utami go at it. They trade wristlocks. Utami side headlocks her. Utami shoulders her over. Kouki facekicks Mai over. Mai takes a double shoulderblock then Mai dropkicks Kouki.

Mai hair throws Kouki. Mirai chinlocks Kouki. Kouki takes facekicks from Mai. They trade chest forearms. Kouki facekicks Mai then Utami gets in. Utami basement dropkicks Mai for 2. Mai dropkicks Utami.

Utami's opponents miss a double dropkick on her and she hits her own double dropkick. Mirai takes slams from both opponents. Kouki armbars Mirai with her leg and Mirai ropebreaks. Mirai throws Kouki over by the leg and basement dropkicks her.

Mai gets in and corner facekicks Kouki. She then shotgun dropkicks her and elbow drops her. Mai double dropkicks her opponents. Kouki powerslams Mai. Utami dropkicks Mai then forearms her. Mirai hits a spinebuster. Mai shotgun dropkicks Utami then facekicks her.

Mai hits a 2nd rope dropkick and Utami samoan drops her. Mai air raid crashes her for 2. Mai STF's Utami and Utami ropebreaks. Mai pump kicks Utami for 2.

Utami suplexes Mai then germans her for 2. Kouki messes up a spot and Mai basement dropkicks her. Mai facekicks Utami over then Utami germans her. Utami hits another german. Kouki pulls back on Mai's arms then cattle mutilation's her against the ropes.

Mai and Kouki trade facekicks. Mai facekicks her over then backdrops her. Kouki no sells it and backdrops her. Mirai and Utami get in. They lariat each other and Utami lariats Mirai onto the apron. Mirai slingshots and rolls into a lariat then takes a lariat. Mirai hits a drop on Mirai.

Mirai upkicks Utami then 2nd rope vader bomb elbow drops her. Mirai takes a sandwich flying knee + lariat and Mirai cradle shocks Utami for 2. Mirai lariats Utami over then hits another lariat for 2. Mirai goes up top and gets stopped. Utami does a sitout bomb on her from the torture rack position.

Kouki tags in and facekicks Mirai. Kouki flips Mirai off a backdrop and Mirai almost lands poorly. Mirai cradle shocks Kouki. Mai slams Kouki then misses a top rope elbow drop. Kouki dropkicks Mai. She lifts her like a dominator and just drops her on her back. Mirai suplexes Kouki off the buckles then Mai pump kicks Kouki for 2.

Mai top rope elbow drops Kouki for 2. Utami hits a double backdrop on her opponents and Kouki pump kicks Mai for 2.  Utami air raid crashes Mai then Kouki follows with a top rope 180 splash. Mirai backdrops Utami then Kouki takes a double backdrop. Mai STF's Kouki and rolls her over wit it. The time limit then expires for 30 minute draw.

Thoughts: It went long and wasn't that good as expected. Kouki didn't bring much to the table and didn't really fit in with the rest of the girls. It was an average match that tried to be great and failed.

Everyone except Utami talks on the mic after. Chika Goto then comes out and talks with Kouki and they seem to set up a singles match for Kouki's newly won GHC Women's Title.

United National Title Match - Miku Aono (c) vs Natsumi Showzuki

Nat = Natsumi Showzuki

Miku and Nat lock up and Miku clean breaks her. Nat side headlocks her then Miku hits chest forearms on the ropes. Nat running knees her then hits knees to the head. Nat armbars her. Miku hits her swinging, twisting slam on Nat. They trade leg kicks.

Miku puts Nat in tree of woe but Nat falls out. Miku then corner dropkicks her. Miku pulls on Nat's leg around the ropes. Miku ties up one leg and crabs the other. Miku slams Nat on the apron then Nat fisherman suplexes her on the floor.

Nat kicks Miku from the apron and double knee drops her on the floor. Nat pulls back on Miku's arms and Miku ropebreaks. Nat meteora's Miku on the ropes then armbars her. Miku slams her down to get out of it. Miku top rope dropkicks Nat for 2. Nat does an octopus on Miku. Nat high kicks her and they high kick each other at the same time three times.

Nat fisherman suplexes Miku for 2. Miku's kick is blocked and Nat pulls back on the legs. Nat meteora's Miku in the corner then meteora's her for 2. Nat double knee drops Miku off the buckles for 2. Nat misses a flip off the top and Miku buzzsaw kicks her for 2. Nat rolls her into a pin attempt for 2.

Miku lariats Nat for 2. Miku tiger drivers Nat for 2. Miku hits a styles clash then does a texas cloverleaf. Nat then taps out.

Thoughts: Eh. They did try to do some limb work with Nat's knee being worked on and selling but it wasn't consistent enough for me. They tried to do a great match but didn't quite hit the mark. I think it worked out a little better than most of Showzuki's matches have though and she seemed to have a bit more chemistry with Miku than some of the girls. It wasn't awful but I thought it could have been better than it was.

Miku talks on the mic after and Mai Sakurai challenges her.

Passion Injection Match - Sareee vs Nao Ishikawa

So this was supposed to be Nanae Takahashi vs Sareee. Saree likely injured Nanae on a uranage in their tag match and Nanae went up to Nao after her last match. I think she asked Nao to substitute for her during that. This is the biggest match Nao has ever had in her life next to the Tam Nakano match and it's a big test for her.

Sare flying dropkicks Nao as they charge at each other. Sare boots her around and dropkicks her. Sare dropkicks Nao. Sare slams her then ties up her legs while pulling on her hair. Sare indian deathlocks her.

Sare stomps on Nao then hair throws her. Sare stands on her in the corner as she yells at Nanae. Nao cartwheels out of a hair throw and hits a crossbody. Sare rolls Nao into a double stomp. Nao then rolls her into double stomps. Sare forearms her over and single leg crabs her.

Sare stomps on Nao's back. They fight on the buckles. Nao is pushed down twice but comes back and slaps Sare. Nao top rope plancha's Sare outside. Nao top rope dropkicks Sare. Nao flying neckbreakers Sare for 2. Nao ddt's her for 1.

They trade forearms. They trade hard chest forearms and Nao rolls her up with a bridge for 2. Nao hits mounted chest forearms. Sare dropkicks her on and through the ropes. Sare fisherman suplexes her for 2. Sare hits a double stomp off the buckles for 2.

Sare misses a top rope double stomp then Nao germans her for 2. Sare germans her then chest forearms her over. Sare hits a top rope double stomp for 2. Sare hits a nasty uranage and wins.

Thoughts: It didn't go as long as it needed to sadly. Nao got beaten up but didn't get the huge comeback she needed with nearfalls to tease a win. Nao did do her part right though. She got her butt kicked, she sold and she fought back. It was okay but a little too on sided and they didn't try to make it special. It could have been a star making performance for Nao if they went all out with this.

Nanae consoles Nao then Sare talks to Nao on the mic. Sare then calls out Nanae. Nanae has words for her and hits her. They talk more and Nanae gets mad and grabs her. Various girls then separate them. They shove each other and Nanae grabs her by the hair. 

Overall thoughts: It didn't look like it was going to be a great show and it wasn't. Marigold's undercard wrestlers are not good right now and the matches suffer because of it. Maybe in a year it'll be a different story but right now, you come into this promotion knowing everything except the main and semi main probably won't be very good. We were supposed to get Nanae vs Sareee here but Nanae got injured and the match got cut off. Nao did a good job substituting for Sareee and showed there is more to her than what they let do, but they didn't let her go out all and really impress here. The match was mostly one-sided and that can only be so good. The Kouki 30 minute draw did not impress as expected and Miku/Showzuki also didn't really hit the mark. I'd give this one a 4 out of 10 and I had a hard time getting through this.
