WWE NXT Level Up 7/22/2022
Last week's show is here: https://prowresblog.blogspot.com/2022/07/wwe-nxt-level-up-7152022.html
Thea Hail vs Brooklyn Barlow
Thea
does some jumping jacks to warm up. Thea rolls out of a wristlock and
Barlow dropkicks her. They really push that Barlow is a strongman
competitor. They trade pin attempts and and Hail side headlock takeovers
her from the cazadora. Hale uses the buckles to headlock takeover her
then Hail does it to her. Barow backbreaker her on the side then Barlow
grounded octopus' her. Hail lifts her up out of it then drops her on the
side.
Hail hits a roll of the dice neckbreaker then standing moonsaults her. Hail then hits a nice tornado ddt and wins it.
They've
been having them trade a lot of headlocks here lately on NXT. Most of
this match had headlocks and it's not real exciting stuff. Thea probably
did have her best showing yet though and hit a nice standing moonsault.
Hank
Walker is interviewed. He said he learned from his experience last time
and said he won't let Duke look down on him. He said if you stay ready,
you don't have to get ready.
Ru Feng vs Bryson Montana
Ru
does his usual kung fu during his entrance. Bryson wore a suit jacket
and gloves. They lock up and Ru side headlocks him. Ru does another
headlock takeover and shoulders him over. Ru slams him then barely hits a
spin kick. Bryson hits a stiff clothesline and stomps him and poses.
Bryson
side slams him then Ru takes a michinoku driver for 2. Ru comes back
with kicks then does a shot to the gut while he is down. Ru hits some
palm strikes to the chest then Bryson sitout spinebusters him to win.
Ru's still kind of figuring out what he needs to do but Bryson is coming along alright so far. This wasn't anything special.
Duke Hudson vs Hank Walker
The
crowd chants for Hank early. They shoulder battle and Duke knees him in
the gut. Duke then mocks him with cowboy gestures. Hank basically
deadlift picks up Duke but can't slam him. Hank then puts him in the
corner and hits some shots then side slams him. Hank misses an elbow and
gets kicked for it then Duke back elbows him.
Duke hits a
reverse ddt for 2 and Duke works the chinlock. Duke bangs his head on
the mat a few times then Hank grabs him by the hair and bangs his head
off the buckle. He then hits corner splashes and crossbodies him. Hank
rips off his shirt and pulls him into a drop from the slam position.
Hank then misses a splash and Duke face kicks him to win. Duke then
grabs him by the throat after.
Decent main event here. Hank had
another good showing here and seems to get it down and Duke really is
above NXT 2.0 at this point.
Overall thoughts: The
opener was boring by design and had nothing to do with the people in it.
Someone told them to work a headlock all match and they did just that.
Bryson was decent against Ru, but Ru's slower and just hasn't figured it
out yet. The main was fine with Hank continuing to look good and Duke
being decent as always.
