WWE NXT Level Up 4/15/2022
Last week's show is here: https://prowresblog.blogspot.com/2022/04/wwe-nxt-level-up-482022.html
Roxanne Perez vs Sloan Jacobs
Roxanne Perez with a neat move |
Roxanne was Rok-C in the indies and ROH. Roxanne cartwheels over her as she dorps down then hits some armdrags. She then barely gets over for the headscissors then gets wildly thrown throat first on the top rope. Sloan strangleholds her.
A little later, Perez hits a back elbow and a Thesz press. She then russian leg sweeps her. She backflips, catches herself on her wrists, then twists over to senton Sloan. She then hits a code red and wins it.
This was short. Perez had some highlights here and does seem to be a decent babyface.
Troy Donovan vs Damon Kemp
Damon Kemp |
Kemp comes back and does like a running back elbow and 2 nice suplexes. Kemp then running shoulders him and Troy hits a falcon arrow for 2. Troy misses a high frogsplash and Lauren gets knocked off the apron. Kemp then forward rolling fireman's slams him then Kemp does a double underhook into a neckbreaker to win. It was nearly botched and I don't think we will ever see that one again.
This was a good one here. It was short but Kemp looked really good with his amateur wrestling inspired offense. Troy did fine as well here and I enjoyed this. Kemp has been impressive every time I see him and I really think he could be something.
Kiana James vs Tatum Paxley
Kiana James was Kayla Inlay, but they changed her name. Tatum's only had a few matches but she has looked real good. Kiana's music has a slow start then turns into dance music like you would use in a dance routine.
Kiana headsprings out of a wristlock then Tatum kips up out of one. Tatum then does a nice forward handspring out of a throw. They stare each other down then Ivy Nile comes out. Tatum's been like a Diamond Mine prospect and has a history with Nile. They have a messy section then James hits knees to the gut. Kiana hits some gut kicks then takes a sunset flip roll-up. Tatum hits a nice dropkick hen suplexes her as she is distracted by Ivy. Tatum does a standing corkscrew moonsault and wins it.
Both girls are new to wrestling and they had a messy match where it was obvious. Some of the flips were cool though and they did try to work the Ivy Nile/Tatum Paxley storyline in it.
Overall thoughts: The show was really only about 22 minutes long once you cut out commercials and other stuff. Kemp vs Troy was good and Kemp really looks like he's going to be good. Tatum had her sloppiest match yet and Roxanne was a decent face in her match.
