WWE NXT 2.0 2/22/2022

WWE NXT 2.0 2/22/2022

Last week's show is here: https://prowresblog.blogspot.com/2022/02/wwe-nxt-vengeance-day-2152022.html

Bron Breakker came out to talk. He said he proved that over his dead body, nobody will take the title from him. He said NXT will  have their next big show on Wrestlemania Weekend with Stand and Deliver. He said he will walk in and walk out champ.

Dolph Ziggler came out. He said you never forget your first title defense and said Bron can't make promises he can't keep. He said Bron will make to Stand and Deliver, but not as champ. He said when he decides the time is right for the title to be his, it will be his.

Bron says he owes him a receipt for kicking him in the face last week and tells him to get in the ring. Dolph called him a hot head and said he is the guy...in Orlando. He said Bron gets the night off tonight and is barred from ringside in his match tonight so there are no cheapshots. Dolph told him to sit in the back and watch tonight.

I don't like Dolph telling Bron what to do and Bron not trying to do or say anything back about it.

Grayson Waller vs LA Knight

GW goes out to stall to start. LA chased him and hit a big clothesline. He then did a slingshot shoulder in and took a stiff knee to the face. GW got crotched on the top rope and LA bounced it up and down and knocked him out of the ring.

We came back from a PiP break and LA was thrown into the steps. GW stomped on him. GW walked the 2nd rope a little and hit an elbow for 2. GW went outside and jumped in the ring for his stunner but got caught and backdropped. LA hit a nice flying clothesline and a back body drop then did  nice jumping neckbreaker from behind. LA went for a cutter but Sanga held GW and GW rolled him up for the win.

LA beat up GW and Sanga after.

This was a little short but the two matched up well together and it flowed well.

Dakota Kai was looking for Wendy Choo. She found her sleeping and Choo eventually ditched her.

RG and Cora Jade were at an adventure park. RG is afraid of heights and they climb a ropes course. RG doesn't want to do the zip line but Cora talks her into it. They then said they would win in the Dusty Cup next week.

Toxic Attraction has a Toxic Longue and is going to watch the tournament. They have a sofa and red drapes.

NXT Women's Dusty Cup Quarterfinals -  Kay Lee Ray and Io Shirai vs Lash Legend and Amari Miller

Lash and Amari have teamed up once or twice on 205 Live. Lash shoulders down Io early then Io headscissors her into a 619 on the middle rope. Io botches a springboard then top rope dropkicks her. Amari tags herself in and Io bridges to avoid the lariat. KLR goes for a suplex but Amari rolls her up then spinning high kicks her.

Lash hits a step kick on KLR and KLR superkicks her. KLR hits the Gori bomb then hits a bad 2nd rope moonsault. Io then top rope moonsaults Amari for the win.

This was very short and oddly, KLR and Io did the botching here.

Dante Chen is interviewed. He finally gets a chance against Duke Hudson tonight. He said he would get his vengeance on Duke tonight.

We saw Jensen trying to record a dating intro video in the back with Briggs' help.

Dante Chen vs Duke Hudson

Duke didn't really have an entrance and got jumped as he walked out. Chen bangs Duke's knee off the post then gets pulled into it. Chen hits a flying forearm and a neckbreaker then ddt's him.

Chen goes for corner punches but Duke gets out and face kicks him. Duke hits a high razor's edge for the win.

This made Chen look like an idiot and was a short match to possibly cap off this near forgotten feud.

Trick and Carmelo Hayes are headed to the ring. Carmelo says when he shoots he doesn't miss and tonight is a "Melobration". He bragged about having the match of the night and beating Grimes. He said he is the "A-Champion" and the "A" is for "Absolute Best". Pete Dunne comes out. He said Hayes hasn't beaten him and says the absolute best shouldn't sit on the sidelines during Wrestlemania season. Hayes says he can't make everybody famous. Dunne tells him to prove that he doesn't miss when he shoots and to fight him next week. Trick says no but Hayes says he never backs down from a fight. Trick says he will beat him like he beat Grimes then Cameron Grimes comes in and clears them out of the ring and it seems like we have a tag match.

Cameron Grimes vs Trick Williams

This started during the break. Grimes hits chops on Trick and Trick does a big flop sell for a turnbuckle shot. Trick hits a bad punch combo and flying clothesline. Trick hits a high dropkick and pounds on him from the mount. Grimes does a comeback with some forearms and a flying kick. Trick hits a step kick  and does a bad uppercut. Grimes then hit a swinging side slam for 2. Hayes helps Trick out of the ring and Grimes goes after him, hitting a superkick. Grimes gets him back in and hits a crossbody to the head? He then hits the M. Bison stomp for the win.

Trick is very green and this is only his 6th match in WWE. He has a whole lot of work to do and is a long way away.

Jensen is trying to more pick up lines and accidentally says he likes guys.  He starts talking about Kayden Carter and asks Briggs to stop recording.

Ciampa is working out in the back and Bron and says he will be out there to watch. Ciampa says they are 1 and 1 against each other and he needs to know who the better man is. Bron says he is looking forward to a rubber match.

We get a Nikkita Lyons vignette as she is up next.

We get a Chase U vignette. He talks about intestinal fortitude and said Von Wagner has lost his after joining Robert Stone. One of his students questions what he can do to Wagner and he says he's gonna give him a whoooping. Chase says that was a teachable moment. I really enjoyed this one.

Nikkita Lyons vs Kayla Inlay

Lyons is a thicker girl and has an ugly pea green outfit on. She drops to her knees and throws her then leg kicks her. Inlay pushes her head fron behind and gets back high kicked. Lyons hiptosses her then Inlay rakes her face over the rope. Inlay hits some knees. Lyons hits a big forearm and hits some kicks. Lyons hits a back high kick and hits a german. She kips up and does a very nice spin kick and does a jumping split on her to win.

Inlay looked decent here with the trash talk and aggression and kind of showed her up. Lyons does have some charisma to her but needs some work, and a new outfit. I would be willing to bet she's going to be asked to drop weight too.

Persia Pirotta goes up to Duke Hudson backstage and they kiss. Indi walks in and says "gross" and asks what she is doing. Duke says Indi used to enjoy it and Indi says "that was a long time ago". Duke says "it doesn't have to be" then Dexter Lumis walks in and looks disappointed, thinking she is cheating on him.

Wagner and Stone do a promo. Stone said Chase is dumb for trying to challenge him and said Chase will file for permanent disability. Stone said this is Von Wagner's World, and you're just living in it.

Bivens and The Creed Brothers came out with the Dusty Cup. Bivens said Imperium hadn't made it to the Olympic Trials or won any NCAA tournaments. Bivens said Imperium hadn't won the Dusty Cup yet and hadn't defended against them. He said some nonsense and said Diamond Mine is the real deal. He called them "cole slaw and weiner schnitzel eating b*tches". Gunter and Imperium came out and said he won't put up with this. Imperium said the Creeds will never take their titles. Imperium got in the ring and a brawl broke out. Bivens got choked by Walter then Solo Sikoa came in and superkicked Gunther, dropping him. Bivens gave him a scared thumgs up.

Jensen is still trying here and Fallon Henry comes in. Fallon Henley comes in and says they can just take a picture instead of a video and says she will text it to him and set up a profile. Briggs said Jensen's love life is his favorite form of entertainment and basically said he knew this wasn't needed.

Joe Gacy and Harland were interviewed. Footage was shown of them going up to Draco Anthony in the gym at night. They pushed him and Gacy said Draco is a piece of clay that could be molded by the right person. Harland and Draco argued during this and Gacy said it is better for Draco to be surrounded by friends then to be alone.

Dusty Rhodes Classic Quarterfinals - Ivy Nile and Tatum Paxley vs Kayden Carter and Kacy Catanzaro

Toxic Attraction is still watching from the longue. Kayden shook her butt at Tatum then Kacy did a weird mid-air spin before landing on Tatum. Tatum had her on her shoulders and whipped her around but got armdragged. Tatum then threw Kacy up for an Ivy Nile punch. Nile hit a flying kick to the chest on Kacy in the corner. Tatum pulled on Kacy's neck over the middle rope.

Ivy dropped an elbow off the 2nd rope onto Kacy. Kacy tried to go under Ivy to tag but got caught. Kayden got in and superkicked Ivy in the the side of the head. Ivy missed a high kick then spun around and hit a high kick. Ivy had Kayden on her shoulders and Tatum held her legs, then they kind of rotated her for a slam. Kayden hit a big superkick on Tatum and held her from the neckbreaker position while Kacy 450'd her for the win.

This was short but action packed and was a fun little tv match. The girls looked far better than the usual standard.

Ivy did her dragon sleeper to Tatum while Strong watched on. He talked her off son but wasn't urgent about it. Ivy then threatened Tatum while Strong pulled her off.

Solo Sikoa was interviewed. He said he was going to pick a fight with the biggest and baddest dude and dropped him tonight in Gunther. Bivens came in and thanked him for helping him, though said he didn't need him. Bivens told him to take him out next week and went to give him a high five but Sikoa said that wasn't for Bivens, but for himself.

Gunther vs Sikoa is announced for next week and I have high hopes for it.

Dolph Ziggler vs Tomasso Ciampa

Loud Ciampa chants here. Dolph tries to wrestle him and he slaps him in the back. They shove each other and stare down, then Dolph headbutts him and tries to roll him up. Dolph rakes his face across the top rope. They said Bron is officially banned from ringside after Dolph made that rule on his own earlier, or at least it seemed that way.

Ciampa hit some lariats. Dolph is on the apron and gets knee'd to the floor and belly flops for it. We go to break and return with Dolph headlocking Ciampa. Ciampa nails Dolph with a huge lariat for 2. They trade punches then Ciampa combos him and stomps him in the corner. He goes for a facewash but Dolph hits a dropkick then Ciampa hits a big punch. Ciampa leans over and takes a fameasser for 2.

Dolph goes for a superkick but Ciampa hits him with a facekick, then powerbombs him onto his knees for 2. Ciampa hits a pumping knee for 2. They go outside and Ciampa gets put into the post then takes a zigzag on the floor. Back in and Dolph grounded sleepers Ciampa. Ciampa gets up and drops him backwards.

Both men are down. They trade shots on the apron then Ciampa hits an air raid crash on the apron on him. A cameraman nails Ciampa with a camera then Dolph superkicks Ciampa for the win.
The cameraman then is revealed to be Dolph's partner, Robert Roode. They pose together and beat down Ciampa. Bron Breakker comes in for the save and clears off the heels, then challenges them to a tag match next wee. Bron challenges them to just fight right now and they all brawl until it is broken up.

The ending sucked for what was a good match. They hit each other hard and were really aggressive towards each other. The crowd loved it and I don't have too many complaints about it.

Overall thoughts: The opener, The Diamond Mine/Carter and Kacy match and the main were good. Nikkita Lyons' debut could have been better, Trick Williams' match was not good and the Dante Chen vs Duke Hudson payoff sucked, so it was a mixed bag here. The main is worth seeing though.
