WWE NXT 4/13/2021

Karrion Kross comes out to start the show. He talked about winning the title. He said he is in command on NXT until he says so. He said there's nowhere to go when you are up at the top except down and he said that's a lie. He challenged anyone who wanted the title to step up.

WWE NXT Tag Titles - MSK vs Killian Dain and Drake Maverick

Carter was tripped by Spud then Dain dropped an elbow on him. Lee botched a leapfrog then Drake hit a twisting swanton on him. Carter bronco bustered Drake and flipped out of a double backdrop. Dain was superkicked off the apron then Lee tope'd him but was caught and rammed into the apron. Dain then running crossbodied him on the floor.

We then went to break and returned. Carter missed a knee but it was sold anyway then he knocked Dain off the apron. Carter then deadlift german suplexed Drake and was pushed on his SSP onto him. Dain was then double teamed with a superkick to the back and Lee wrapping around the post to 619 him. Lee then corkscrew splashed him for 2.

Carter tried to sunset flip Dain, but Dain dropped down on him and hit a driver on Lee at the same time. Dain tried to powerbomb Drake on Carter, but Lee pulled Carter out of the way. Carter then ran up the ropes and cuttered him. Carter held up Drake then Lee running blockbustered him, then Carter dove over the top on Dain as MSK picked up the win.

MSK did their usual stuff here but Dain and Drake didn't really do too much of their own and it ended up being not that interesting of a match. It was also very obvious MSK was winning this.

Alexander Wolfe came out and distracted him while Imperium jumped Dain. Imperium then stood over Dain as he was left laying.

Robert Stone was in the back and Mercedes Martinez wanted her money from when he promised to pay her for teaming up with Aaliyah. She grabbed Aliyah and Jessi Kamea got in her way. Mercedez asked if she wanted to step up to her, but she said she wanted to step on her

Roderick Strong arrived with his wife, Shafir.

We were shown clips of Cole/O'Reilly. Cole threatened him while they rode in stretchers.

Mercedes Martinez vs Jessi Kamea with Aliyah and Robert Stone

MM was jumped as she took her jacket off. Jessi axe kicked her in the back of the neck then dropkicked her. Jessie threw MM and then hit a nice jumping forearm in the corner. Jessie jumped off the bottom rope and dropped a leg on MM the missed a crossbody. MM then hit her with a jumping knee and hit a schwein/death valley driver combo for the win. MM then went after Stone and forced the money out of him. MM then yelled at the announcer and said she was coming for Raquel Gonzalez.

Jessi got a lot of offense in here for some reason before being squashed.

The Way was interviewed in the back. They have a mixed tag tonight and Johnny wasn't happy. He said it is the first time The Way will all be in the ring at the same time. Thoery said he would get revenge on Lumis and Indi said she wants to end up in the ring with Dexter so she can handle her business. They then put their hands in and yelled "The Way", making the announcer do it too.

Santos Excobar was walking to the ring.

We cut back to the studio with Isaiah "Swerve" Scott making music. He said he is sick of Ruff and wants to move on. He said he will get rid of him and said Ruff is done.

Escobar came out with LdF. He said he stole the show at Takeover and he is now the undisputed champ. Kushida came out to accept his open challenge.

WWE NXT Cruiserweight Title - Santos Escobar (c) with Raul Mendoza and Jaoquin Wilde vs Kushida

Kushida dropkicked him to start and is wearing an unusual white and orange outfit which has to be a nod to Sakuraba. They counter each other early and Escobar gets out of the hammerlock.

We do a picture in picture break and return with Santos in control. Santos swings Kushida into the steps. Then he puts him in a crab on the steps. Escobar kept in control and hit some slaps and hurricanrana'd him off the 2nd rope for 2.

Kushida came back with an atomic drop and a hiptoss into a cartwheel dropkick. Kushida hit a shotei in the corner then he did a hammerlock suplex off the top then a hammerlock suplex for 2. kushida then hit a pele kick. They hit each other with high kicks at the same time then Escobar caught him with a backcracker as he did a handspring into the ropes. They traded pin attempts and Kushida won! Total shocker here with Escobar getting a big win the week before then losing it here. I thought Santos got a little too much in here and Kushida didn't get enough in. Most of the match wasn't that exciting until it picked up for the finish.

Tomasso Ciampa and Timothy Thatcher were sitting down and talking in the back. Ciampa said they didn't win every fight, but they passed every test and are now stronger as a unit. They said they would finish what they start and said they are coming for MSK.

Raquel Gonazalez was coming to the ring with Dakota Kai.

Kushida was with the doctor in the back then William Regal congratulated him. Jordan Devlin went up to him and said Escobar never really beat nayone and just ran up a ladder. Devlin said he was the best wrestler and said he was going home. He said he was coming back though for him. Kushida told Regal "anytime".

Dakota Kai welcomed Raquel Gonzalez. RG said she wasn't ready before, so she lifted and trained harder and is ready now. She thanked Dakota Kai for helping her get here. She said the Raquel Gonzalez era has official begun, then the lights went out and Franky Monet appeared.

Franky talked in Spanish and said the division has gotten better now with her here. RG said if Franky interrupts her again, she will shove the dog up her butt. Rhea Ripley then showed up.

Rhea and RG banged fists and hugged. This didn't make sense since the last time they saw each other, they were trying to kill each other. Bianca Belair then came out. They then held up all their belts for some reason and they showed a photo of them together. Then they hugged. This didn't make any sense.

Pete Dunne then did a promo. He said he outwrestled Kushida and showed he is the best wrestler. Dunne said it's time to focus on what he came here for - championship gold.

We got a package on Sarray. Regal said she is something special and will take it to the next level. Simon Inoki then put her over, he's Inoki's step-son and was known for stinking up NJPW. They said Sarray debuts next week.

Regal is interviewed in the back and is excited for Sarray. Roderick Strong and Marina Shafir are in Regal's office. Strong said he is done and Regal said he is welcome back any time.

Isaiah "Swerve" Scott vs Leon Ruff

Ruff hit some forearms to start then was popped up and fell chest first. Scott was then dropkicked in the shoulder. Scott did a euro uppercut from the top onto the back of Ruff's neck. Ruff came back with a dropkick. Ruff took a 2nd buckle russian legsweep then Scott stomps on him from the apron.

We go to break and Return with Scott bullying Ruff. Ruff fires up with some chest chops and lariats him. Ruff goes for a 2nd rope cutter but Scott avoids it, then he hits it on the 2nd attempt. Ruff then runs up the ropes and flip dives Scott on the outside. Ruff missile dropkciks him for 2.

Ruff top rope hurricanrana's Scott for 2. Ruff bounces off the ropes with a lariat and takes a harder one back. Ruff counters a suplex with a hurricanrana for 2. Ruff goes for a 2nd buckle hurricanrana but Scott catches him and drops him face first on the top rope. Scott then hits a storm cradle driver and wins it. I feel like I've seen this match 100 times but it is usually good and was good here as well. Ruff is a good face and Scott is a good heel with some personality. They could have sold a little better but it was good.

Zoey Stark was interviewed. She said she was struggling to make ends meet a few months ago but now is having the biggest matches in her career at Takeover. She said she wants the NXT title then Mercedez Martinez came in. She said she is next in line for the title and calls Zoey a rookie.

We got a video package on Walter and Imperium. He said Imperium's crusade to restore the honor of wrestling is just beginning. He said they will grow and expand and they are here to stay.

Isaiah "Swerve" Scott was interviewed. He said he made a statement then Ruff banged his head off the lockers. He then rammed a box into him and said it isn't over until he says it is over.

The Way vs Shotzi Blackheart, Ember Moon, Dexter Lumis and Bronson Reed

I was going to watch it but it ended up being essentially boys vs girls and that's crap that I'm not watching.

Overall thoughts: I wasn't a fan of this one. I don't have much interest in the women and I refuse to watch intergender wrestling, which the main was. I liked Ruff vs Scott and the tag title match wasn't that bad or anything, but now that we've seen the main MSK spots, it is less interesting to see them again and again.
