MLW Fusion Episode #128 4/14/2021

MLW Fusion Episode #128 4/14/2021

There was no episode last week, but the last episode is here: https://prowresblog.blogspot.com/2021/03/mlw-fusion-episode-127-never-say-never.html

Ray Flores and Michael St. Laurent are on commentary. Where is Rich Bocchini?

Salina de la Renta is shown outside the arena and says she has a fool proof plan to destroy Hammerstone for good. The Azteca Underground guy shows up and pushes the camera away. Apparently she didn't ask for permission from El Jefe to clear up the plan.

Caribbean Heavyweight Title - Richard Holliday vs Gino Medina

The argue to start and shove each other. Gino hits some forearms on the outside on Holliday and Holliday comes back with shots of his own. Holliday ends up spearing the post back inside and Gino hammerlock clotheslines him. They trade shots and Holliday hits a backdrop. Holliday then spinebusters him for 2.

Gino comes back and hits Holliday's 2008(twisting neckbreaker from the suplex position) for 2. Gino spin kicks Richard but then runs into the exposed turn buckle. Holliday then hits the 2008 and wins it. It really wasn't anything too special. Holliday is better at the promos and Gino hasn't really had any standout matches yet. Mostly a basic match.

We are told Marshall Von Erich is on the injured reserve list for the next 10 days after the chain ropes match with Violence is Forever. The Von Erich's then did a promo. Marshall said he is sick of Team Filthy. Kevin Von Erich then comes in. He said he was talking with Keiji Mutoh and said he wants to teach them things. Kevin tells him not to rush the knee as it will hurt him forever and says he is sending Ross Von Erich out to see him.

Alexander Hammerstone is interviewed. He said there's no more confusion tonight over who the champ is when he wins against Mil Muertes tonight.

We see some clips of Salina's feud with Konnan.

TJP is interviewed by Alicia Atout. TJP is finished with his suspension and Bu Ku Dao is medically cleared. They will fight next week. TJP says Dao never learns his lesson. He said their match will be short and sweet then leaves the interview.

MLW World Tag Team Championship - Los Parks with Salina de la Renta vs The Dirty Blondes with Aria Blake

Blake and Salina argue and the Blondes jump Los Parks. The Blondes with control hits punches and chokes. Los Parks are thrown into each other. Blake is late on an interference spot where Park is supposed to slingshot on both Blondes.

The Parks get pulled outside and are hammered on. The Parks make a comeback with a Hijo de LA Park clothesline. Patrick low blows Hijo then splashes him from the top. Patrick then low blows Park and LA Park Jr. is pulled out from under the ring. Park Jr. low blows both opponents and Los Parks win at 4:45. Blake and Salina catfight. Short one here with the Blondes getting in most of the offense. It wasn't anything special and was a little awkward as people seemed to be out of room in the ring.

We get a package on Mil Muertes.

Mads Krugger cuts in and says something about Hammerstone, but it is impossible to hear due to the muffled voice. He asks if Hammerstone is prepared for the title fight and says something about his fist waiting to eliminate him.

We see clips from an interview with Lio Rush and Alicia Atout. Rush said he is called Poseidon because he makes waves. He brags about some of his wins and pimps his music. Lio said it doesn't matter who challenges him for his titles, though he wasn't seen with his AAA title and only his MLW title. He tells the fans to keep making the world say his name and to keep putting money in his pocket. Lio then says it's Rush Hour, which Atout doesn't play along with.

Myron Reed is interviewed and said he hasn't gotten his title rematch. He said he is hungrier than ever and says Rush doesn't deserve to have his title.

Court Bauer will have an announcement for us next week in a rare appearance. Flores mention he has been been busy with the Dragon Gate partnership and a TV deal.

National Openweight Championship - Alexander Hammerstone (c) vs Mil Muertes

Hammerstone is on his 12th title defense here. Contra tries to cut in through Hammer's intro. Hammer pump kicks him to start and Mil comes back with punches. Hammer overhead belly to belly suplexes him then missile dropkicks him from the top. They fight outside.

Hammer goes into the post and is choked with a strap.  Mil stomps him back in the ring and backdrops him. Mil does a short ddt then pounds on him more before hitting another clothesline. Hammerstone then gets sent into the post, but he powers up and they clothesline each other.

Alex hits a clothesline off the ropes then clotheslines him in the corner. Hammer then hits a wrist clutch exploder but takes a powerslam for 2. Hammer hits a spinning forearm then a superkick for 2 but Mil comes back with a backcracker.

Hammer then comes back with a german and a sit out powerbomb for 2. Mil jawbreakers him and they hit each other while on their knees. Mil takes a pump kick then takes a big nightmare pendulum for the Hammerstone win. Salina is not happy and runs off.

Hammer grabs the mic after. He said he never really lost the Openweight title and never had to really win it back. He said things are getting more interesting though as he is holding a press conference next week with some "very dynastic news".

The match wasn't that great. Mil is pretty basic and just neither one was able to get any momentum going. They didn't sell enough and when kept switching who was in control. I hope they have something bigger planned for Mil here as the character he has shouldn't really be losing.

Overall thoughts: There wasn't anything wrong with the episode, but I wouldn't say it was great. Flores was a little better here than last time. I'm really interested to see what their big announcement is next week.
