MLW Fusion #125 3/17/2021

MLW Fusion #125 3/17/2021

Last week's show is here: https://prowresblog.blogspot.com/2021/03/mlw-fusion-124-3102021.html

We start the show with Injustice and Contra fighting in the parking lot. Los Parks then get involved.

Lio Rush did a promo. He said he is an authentic athlete and star. He said Brian Pillman Jr. is not that and is a cosplay clown. Rush said that he is the real deal.

MLW World Middleweight Championship - Lio Rush (c) vs Brian Pillman Jr.

Lio issued an open contract challenge last week and Pillman apparently accepted it. Pillman is wearing his dad's 4 Horsemen era tights. Pillman's not doing bad right now by getting work here and on AEW TV, though I don't think he is that great at the moment.

Pillman throws off Rush early and shoulders him down. Pillman dropkicks Rush off the ropes and Rush does a nice sell for it. Rush springboards off the ropes into a headscissors and Pillman shoo's the cameramen away. Rush hits a hard buzzsaw kick to Pillman off the apron then moonsaults on him from 2nd rope to the floor.

The match slows down a little and Rush hits some crossface shots to him. Rush hits some chest kicks and Pillman comes back with a messy powerslam. Pillman does a running palm strike that makes Rush spin. Pillman tries to springboard but Lio handsprings him down. Pillman misses a powerslam and takes Rush's unique spin kick. They fight up top and Rush is superplexed.

Rush hits his bottom rope bounce stunner then hits a frogsplash for the win. Pillman and Rush didn't really mesh that well and Pillman continues to show that he isn't quite ready for the spot he is getting.

Alicia Atout tells us that Los Parks will now defend tonight against Injustice and Contra in a No DQ triple threat for the tag titles.

Alexander Hammerstone does a video. He said he has been forced to play games since he returned. He said LA Park couldn't get the job done, so now he has to fight Mil Muertes. He said he wants to blame Salina for taking his belt and attacking him, but Mil was the one who attacked him. He said sticking feathers up your butt doesn't make you a chicken and Mil stealing the title doesn't make him champ. Alex says if you want to be champ, you have to beat him for it. He said Mil is the man of 1,000 deaths, but may be the man of 1,001 deaths after he puts him in the nightmare pendulum.

The Von Erich's do a promo. They said Tom Lawlor has disrespected them, Texas and ACH. Marshall said he's going to wring Lawlor's neck. He told him to bring that "buffalo butt breath" Kevin Ku and said school is session. Ross said they want a time and place to fight.

They said the Azteca Underground site has been set up and they are apparently looking for a new home. We then get an official logo for MLW Azteca Underground, which has been rumored to be a new MLW show.

Salina de la Renta does a promo. She said El Jefe demands glorious violence for non-believers. She said Parrow will beg for Mil to stop punishing him tonight.

We do the Top 10 Rankings. Low-Ki at #3. Tom Lawlor at #2. Alexander Hammerstone at #1. Jacob Fatu is still the MLW World Heavyweight Champion.

Mil Muertes with Salina de la Renta vs Parrow

Parrow does an inset. He said he is sickened by what Mil did to Vega and said "let's fight". Michael St. Laurent calls Mil taking the Openweight title last week a "historic win". Laurent says he is here and he has the belt, so he votes him champ. Rich of course is confused by this and Laurent says possession is 9/10th's of the law.

They go face to face early and trade punches. Mil dropkicks his leg and then pounds on him. Mil lariats Parrow down and we are shown a live shot on Bu Ku Dao down on the floor in the back in some breaking news. Mil walks into a full nelson slam then Parrow senton's him. Parrow hits a hard forearm but then gets a bad powerslam.

Parrow misses a clothesline and takes a flatliner for the Mil win. This wasn't very good. There was a lot of weak shots and it felt rushed.

Alicia Atout updates us about Bu Ku Dao being down in the back. She thinks the Dao/TJP match isn't happening.

We get a video package on Calvin Tankman.

We go into the Never Say Never Control Center. Jordan Oliver vs Simon Gotch is now signed as is Myron Reed vs Daivari. Jacob Fatu vs Calvin Tankman for the title is the main event on 3/31/21.

Mads Krugger does a promo. It's hard to understand any of it, but it looks like his feud with Hammerstone isn't over. I was wondering about one.

The talk about Dark Sing of the Ring Confidential with The Von Erichs on 3/23.

Tom Lawlor does a promo. He calls the VE's dense and dumb. He said since he could pick the stipulation for the fight, it will be a 3v3 with Team Filthy vs ACH and The Von Erichs in a chain ropes match.

MLW World Tag Team Championship - No DQ - Los Parks (LA Park Sr. and Hijo de LA Park) (c) vs Contra Unit (Simon Gotch and Daivari) vs Injustice

Injustice and Contra go at it before Los Parks even come out. Park Sr. comes in and chairs everyone. Oliver gets a metal pan to the head and Gotch chokes Oliver with a kendo stick. Gotch and Reed duel with kendo shots and LA Park Jr. joins the fun. Makes sense, it is a no DQ match.

Reed kips down out of a lariat then kips up and nails Daivari. Reed takes a hard chairshot to the head. Park Jr.(who isn't in the match) hits some people with kendo stick shots then he goes at it in the ring with Oliver. Hijo hits Oliver in the head with a chair. Gotch goes under the ring and pulls out LA Park Sr. Park Jr. hits Reed in the back with the stick then hits Gotch with it too.

Daivari pounds on Hijo in the corner and we are told Bu Ku Dao has been sent to the hospital. We are also told TJP has been suspended. Park Sr. chops Gotch in the face and splashes him. Injustice breaks up a Park submisssion on Gotch. Reed does a crossbody on everyone to the outside and gets caught, but Reed then crossbodies that group and they all go down. Contra messes up a spike piledriver for 2. Then Hijo tope's Gotch. Park Sr. then spears Oliver for the win.

It was a chaotic mess as it was supposed to be and while maybe not the greatest brawl ever, I thought it was fun.

The Parks, Selina and the Azteca Underground officer pose to end the show.

Overall thoughts: It was fine. Not great or must see. Parrow/Mil didn't quite deliver and Pillman/Rush wasn't that good but the main was fun for what it was and the build to the next big show continues.
