WWE Elimination Chamber 2021 2/21/2021

WWE Elimination Chamber 2021 2/21/2021

This card is a mess. Keith Lee is out of the US Title match and Lacey Evans is out screwing up the Women's Title match. Miz then gave up his spot in the Chamber, because he is a total moron, which put Kofi in there.

Pre-show:

Billie Kay tried to join The Hurt Business and MVP said he would take a look at her resume and then said something that implied he wouldn't call her back.

The Street Profits tried to get a title shot from Sonya Deville while she was at the commentator's table. She was not happy about this and told them to ask her at her office

Winner gets a US Title shot - Mustafa Ali vs John Morrison vs Ricochet vs Elias

Elias feels like old news. I don't think we have seen him for a few weeks.

Ricochet face kicks out Morrison early. Everyone fights in the ring. Elias puts Ricochet in a reverse DDT, then JoMo puts Elias in a reverse DDT then Ali comes in and neckbreakers Morrison. Ali hits a hard backdrop on Ricochet and Elias hits a great knee to Ali's face. Ric enzugiri's Morrison off the apron then takes an Elias sitout side chokeslam. Morrison hits a springboard kick to Elias' face then spinning neckbreakers Ricochet for 2. Morrison goes for starship pain but Ricochet moves.

Ricochet does a forward roll into a dropkick on Ali then Asai moonsaults Elias and Ali. Ric flip dived onto Retribution and was caught and thrown into the post, then Morrison stole the pin soon after in a short match that wasn't anything too special.

WWE Universal Championship - Elimination Chamber - Jey Uso vs Kevin Owens vs King Corbin vs Sami Zayn vs Cesaro vs Daniel Bryan

We are starting off with this. It makes sense as the winner has to face Reigns later, though with Roman seemingly being able to book his own stuff and do what he wants, it is odd that match isn't right after this. Sami argues with the ref as his cameramen get kicked out of ringside. Jey gets in front of Owens' chamber and Owens headbutts the glass. They play a video for the EC after the 4 people in the pods enter which is dumb. The actual match starts at 17 minutes into the show.

Daniel Bryan vs Cesaro starts this. DB jumps up and Cesaro catches him into a backbreaker. DB hits his elbow off the ropes. Cesaro gets backdropped over the top rope but lands on the platform then goes into the cage. DB then jumps on him from the top rope.

Corbin gets in and deep sixes Bryan. He runs DB's knee into one of the pods and pushes Cesaro into one. Corbin wraps DB's leg around the post. Zayn is the next one out and Corbin goes out to his pod. Corbin gets smacked into the pod by DB and as Sami talks trash on one side of the pod, Cesaro comes through the other side of the pod and beats him up. Cesaro pops up Sami as he runs near the pods and Sami climbs up on top of the pod. They fight on the pod and Sami climbs along the cage. Cesari swings off the top of the cage and knocks Sami down, then does pull-ups off the top of the chamber.

Cesaro gets caught by Corbin and rammed into the cage. Corbin catches DB off the top rope and chokeslams him. Cesaro does a euro uppercut off the top on Corbin then giant swings him as DB and Sami are down. Corbin then taps to Cesaro's sharpshooter and is eliminated.

Kevin Owens is next out. Sami tries to strike a deal with him and Owens rams his head into the pods. Owens and Cesaro trade euro uppercuts. Sami takes a superkick from Owens and Owens cannonballs Cesaro, Sami and DB. Everyone hits signature moves and that ends with DB taking an Owens pop-up powerbomb. Jey Uso is the last one in and Owens throws him into the pod. Owens moonsaults off the top of the pod onto everyone.

Owens hits a big stunner on Zayn and eliminates him. Zayn heads out of the Chamber and Uso traps Owens' arm between the doors as Zayn exits. Uso top rope splashes Owens and eliminates him in what I think is a surprise ending. I figured there was a small possibility of some huge Reigns/Owens stip match at Mania, but now, no.

Uso tries to jump over the top onto Cesaro but meets an uppercut, then Cesaro drops an elbow on him from the top. Uso is laying on the platform and Cesaro slingshots into a double stomp. Then he giant swings Uso into the cage. DB dives off the top onto Cesaro and Cesaro dumps him over the top rope into the ring. DB turns a pop-up euro into a backslide for 2. Cesaro does a top rope gorilla press into a gustbuster, then does a single leg giant swing to DB, which Uso breaks up with a superkick. Uso then frog splashes him to eliminate him. I'd critique why he interrupted that, but it worked. Uso top rope frog splashes DB for 2.

Uso goes up top on the pod and tries a frogsplash, but DB gets his knees up. DB does a running knee and wins the chamber match. It was a long match at over 30 minutes and had a bunch of spots in it. Had it been a little shorter it would have been better and some of the eliminations weren't that great. I don't really get DB winning this one as I thought Owens or Cesaro would have been better choices.

Roman Reigns then comes out.

WWE Universal Championship - Roman Reigns vs Daniel Bryan

As I expected, this happened right after the Chamber. It's bogus and not believable. DB is a total idiot for taking this. DB immediately puts him into the yes lock. Roman gets out and pounds on him then powerbombs him. Reigns then pounds on him more and chokes him out in a very lame and quick match. Bad ending to a bad angle from start to finish.

Edge then comes in and spears Reigns and points to the Mania sign. This is also stupid. Why wouldn't Edge see who wins the Raw Chamber after saying he would do that earlier this week? What if it is somebody he can beat easier than Reigns? Why wouldn't he see if Miz tries to cash in first?

Bad Bunny and Sonya talked in the back. The Miz said he wasn't impressed by his performance on Saturday Night Live last night. Miz asked what he was doing here and Bunny said he's the 24/7 champion. Miz pushed him and got slapped. Damian Priest then appeared and Miz backed off.

WWE United States Championship - Bobby Lashley vs Riddle vs John Morrison

First pin or submission wins it. Riddle gets beat up by both early. He jumps on lashley's back as he is beating up Morrison and is thrown off. Morrison does a springboard enzugiri then a cool capoeira kick. Bobby knocks JoMo off the apron into the barricade. Bobby racks Jomo on the outside then runs him head first into the post and he takes a bad bump down. Riddle jumps off the steps onto Bobby then is overhead suplexed hard onto the floor.

Bobby lifts Riddle for a suplex then Jomo springboards and stops it for some reason. Bobby shoulders Jomo and he takes a great corkscrew bump for it. Riddle and Jomo agree to team against Bobby then both attack him. Jomo runs into him and gets lifted up with one arm and slammed down. Bobby makes some great facials and gets hurricanrana'd over the top rope. Jomo does a twisting dive on Bobby then Riddle hits the floating bro just to get thrown into the post by Jomo. Riddle and Jomo go at it with Riddle hitting an exploder on him, then he sentons him.

Riddle hits a floating bro on Lashley, then Jomo knees him and hits starship pain on Lashley for 2. Jomo argues with MVP. Jomo takes his crutch and swings it at Bobby but takes a full nelson. Riddle then breaks the crutch over Lashley's back and hits like a reverse Styles Clash to win.

This was a pretty good match with all 3 bringing something to the table. The problem was that this was apparently a No DQ match and nobody thought of using that to their advantage at all, which doesn't make sense. Why wouldn't The Hurt Business or Miz try to get involved and help out their friends?

Kayla Braxton interviewed Bianca Belair and Sasha Banks.  Reginald interrupts and says Sasha should be draped in gold and would hold a bottle of wine for her. Why is Carmella putting up with this?

WWE Women's Tag Team Championship - Nia Jax and Shayna Baszler vs Sasha Banks and Bianca Belair

Bianca kicks Nia in the butt off the "hole" thing, then spanks her butt at her. Sasha jumps off the middle rope with Nia's arm and then bulldogs her. Nia gorilla presses Sasha and throws her on Bianca, but Bianca catches her and whips her into Nia. Bianca hits a boot right in Shayna's face. Sasha drops double knees on Shayna and then runs up the buckles just to get draped on the ropes.

Shayna stretched out Sasha's arm and stomped on it. Sasha made a comeback with a crossbody off the 2nd rope and some roll-ups. Bianca got back in and they did a bad hot tag leading to Sasha doing a frogsplash. Bianca did a reverse sitout death valley driver on Shayna then she ran into Nia who spinebustered her.

Sasha hit a top rope double knee for 2 on Nia then Reginald came out. Sasha did a la mistica into a crossface and after Nia got out, Reg threw in a bottle of wine to Sasha. Sasha was confused and distracted then was samoan dropped by Nia for the win. This wasn't good

Miz spoke with MVP in the back though there was no audio. They pointed at the briefcase.

WWE Title - Raw Men's Elimination Chamber - AJ Styles vs Drew McIntyre vs Jeff Hardy vs Randy Orton vs Sheamus vs Kofi Kingston

Thank God for the power to fast forward. The intros for this were 15-20 minutes.

Jeff Hardy and Randy Orton started off. Hardy flurries on Orton near a pod. Their whole section was pretty slow. I really don't know why they started this off with Orton when AJ vs Hardy or Kofi would have been a more exciting start. Hardy splashes Orton from the 2nd rope for 2 thne Drew came out. Drew got totally screwed with this whole thing having to defend in the Chamber then having to come out 3rd. Drew belly to belly's Hardy and neckbreakers Orton. Drew rubs Orton's head into the cage then suplexes Hardy on the mat platforms. Hardy then goes head first into Kofi's pod and Orton draping ddt's Drew soon after.

Kofi comes out next after Dre gets a draping DDT on the mat platform. Kofi immediately eliminates Orton with a roll-up in a piece of odd booking, then Orton RKO's him and Hardy. AJ tells Omos to get him out and Omos breaks open AJ's pod. AJ comes out and stares down Orton then  slips into the Chamber while the door is open.

Adam Pearce comes out and kicks out Omos. Kofi then does a springboard inside to outside tornado DDT on AJ. Hardy goes up top and gets pushed into the pod, then hits an SOS for 2. AJ hits a great brainbuster on Kofi. Kofi tries for an up and over in the corner and is thrown onto the mat platform. Kofi then monkey flips AJ into the cage. Drew suplexes Kofi into the cage. Drew hits a nice back body drop on AJ.

Sheamus enters and he and Drew slug it out. Drew gets his face pushed into the cage. Kofi gets whipped into the post and then climbs up it to dive on Drew and Sheamus. They do a tower of doom spot with Sheamus getting superplexed by Drew, who gets powerbombed. Kofi goes on top of a pod and dives onto his opponents. Kofi takes a big brogue kick and gets eliminated by Sheamus.

Hardy hits a twist of fate on AJ then does a whisper in the wind off the pod onto Drew and Sheamus. Hardy then swanton's AJ just to get hit with a claymore kick, then is eliminated. AJ does a springboard flipping senton on Drew for 2, then he 450 springboards Drew. Sheamus clotheslines AJ off the top but Drew hits Sheamus with a future shock DDT. Drew eats a brogue kick then AJ hits a phenomenal forearm to eliminate Sheamus in an odd choice of booking. AJ springboards off the top then is met with a claymore kick and eliminated. Drew McIntyre wins the Elimination Chamber.

Drew celebrates his win but gets speared and then pounded on by Lashley. Drew gets thrown into the rails and the post and had his head banged off the table. Lashley reverse STO's him then full nelson slams him. Miz's music then hits as he comes down to cash in his MITB briefcase.

This just wasn't that good. It was slow from the start and the eliminations didn't fit much with the Drew and Sheamus stories. Sheamus really looked like an idiot here too as he turned on his friend just to lose. The Fiend was also not involved here which is weird since he has been involved in everything Orton has done for a while now.

WWE Championship - Drew McIntyre vs The Miz

Miz DDT's him for 2. Miz then hits the skull crushing finale and wins the title. The cash-in made sense at least but Miz not competing in the Chamber made little sense.

Overall thoughts:
The surprise ending was fine and I liked the 3-way and SD Chamber matches, but the rest of this wasn't that interesting. There was a lot of bad booking up and down the card.
