Dramatic Dream Team 1/9/2021 Go To DDT! Vol. 1
I skipped the first two matches here.
DAMNATION (Mad Paulie & Yuji Hino) vs Chris Brookes and Shuna Katsumata
Shunma tries forearms on both opponents which they ignore. Brookes cheers him on then Shunma is shouldered down and hit with an elbow drop and a senton. Hino takes Shunma down with one chop. Damnation walks around with Shunma in a suplex position then finally drops him.
Shunma takes out and Brookes doesn't have much better luck gaainst the size disadvantage. Brookes top rope sentons onto Paulie's back. Paulie comes back and does some clobbering then Thesz presses him. Brookes tries to trade chops with Hino but loses the exchange. Brookes gives up and distracts the ref while he nut shot's Hino.
Shunma crossbodies Hino but gets caught then Brookes missile dropkicks him to push Hino over. Shunma tries offense on Hino but gets whacked with a big lariat then Hino deadlift powerbombs him for the win. This match made a lot of sense with the big man vs little man storylin and was entertaining.
HARASHIMA & Yukio Naya vs. Konosuke Takeshita & MAO
They have Takeshita and Naya trade shoulders early without Naya dominating which I don't like. Mao comes off the top with a diving knee on Naya, then he and his partner double dropkick him. Naya gets 2v1'd again and chopblocked. Takeshita and Mao then go to work on his knee. Naya tags out after a knee and I believe we do a big jump cut to a later point in the match.
Harashima does some bad knees in the corner and does a springboard dropkick to Takeshita. Takeshita reverses a suplex and hits a big german, then is met with a gamengiri. Takeshita hits a forearm then is superkicked.
Naya gets back in and DDT's Takeshita for 2. They trade nice forearms but I don't really like Takeshita being able to go toe to toe with him in strikes. Takeshita comes off the ropes with a jumping lariat. Mao gets in and hits some nice punches. Mao runs into Naya and is sideslammed, then Harashima does a springboard splash on him. Naya hits a chokeslam but Takeshita breaks up the pin attempt. Mao tries to slam Naya but falls over in his attempt and misses a moonsault double knee. Mao does a back cartwheel into a kick then dives on Harashima outside.Takeshita hits a brainbuster on Naya then Mao wins it with a 450. I thought they didn't protect Naya's size here which brought down an otherwise okay match.
DAMNATION (Daisuke Sasaki, Nobuhiro Shimatani & Tetsuya Endo) vs. Junretsu (Makoto Oishi & Mizuki Watase) & Yusuke Okada
Okada and Endo start us off. Okada gets up on his shoulders with a headscissors and brings him down. Endo and Okada start forearming each other hard. Oishi hits some nice armdrags on Sasaki and takes a tilt-a-whirl backbreaker. Endo rubs Oishi's eyes on the ropes and puts him in a guillotine then swings him around. Okada comes in and hits a nice flurry on Shimatani and double dropkicks him and Endo. Okada does a nice dropkick on Endo for 2.
Endo comes back with a springboard forearm then Sasaki hits a clothesline off the top rope. Okada hits more nice forearms on Sasaki and Watase comes in with a great knee on Sasaki. Shimantani hits a great dropkick on Watase. Endo does a spinning death valley driver on Watase and Sasaki pedigrees Watase for a nearfall. Watase tags out and Oishi hits a nice running forearm on Endo then an overhand punch. Oishi hits a diamond dust on Shimatani and holds him so Watase can do a long springboard dropkick from the other side of the ring. oishi takes a double team stun gun and Endo alley oops Shimatani onto Oishi. Endo standing moonsaults Oishi and Shimatani does a standing SSP onto him. Oishi then is able to trap Shimatani with something like a calf crusher and wins it.
The finish was very random here and I thought they cut off Okada a few times when they shouldn't have, but this was a fun a match with a good pace to it.
KO-D Tag Team Title Match - Eruption (Kazusada Higuchi & Yukio Sakaguchi) (c) vs. CIMA & Soma Takao
CIMA flips over the ropes to enter then runs on the middle rope. Takao tags himself in and him and Yukio throw some nice shots at each other before Yukio chest kicks him down. Higuchi comes in and Cima immediately hits him from behind then Higuchi takes out both opponents. Yukio and Takao get into it again in the corner and Takao gets double chest kicked. Soma hits a nice dropkick on Yukio and Cima comes in and hits a slingshot senton.
Takao throws Yukio into the rails outside and he double clubs Yukio's back with Cima. Yukio is tripped into a legdrop then put into a camel clutch and dropkicked. Higuch comes in and shoulders Takao down and Takao flurries him with many many forearms. Higuchi doesn't really sell it and Takao crossbodies him down. Cima sentons Higuchi and the two trade chops. Higuchi catches Cima in a crossbody and slams him down. Yukio and Cima do some stuff and Cima rolls him up for 2. Cima and Takao then double suplex Higuchi onto Yukio. Soma comes off the middle rope with a ddt onto Yukio then kips up. The two trade forearms with Takao gets some good ones in before doing a running forearm. Takao and Higuchi trade strikes and Takao takes 2v1 strikes before Cima helps. The pair then hits double backcrackers and double superkicks Yukio.
Yukio accidentally pumping knees his own partner then Takao and Cima both do frogsplashes. Yukio puts a sleeper on Takao and Cima springboard double knees him. Takao hits more forearms on Yukio then is rolled up into a choke and choked out for the Higuchi and Yukio win. Takao came here to work but Cima kept interrupting him during sections.
The match just didn't have much flow or story with them doing a bunch of different things unrelated to each other when they had easy stories with Takao/Yukio or Takao's team being the underdog faces.
DDT Universal Title Match - Yuki Ueno (c) vs. Shota
Shota is the owner of some of the ugliest gear out there. He has purple and green tights with gold flames on one side then red flames on the other. That would be bad enough in and of itself, but then he has white boots with red flames on both feet.
Shota rolls out a wristlock early and keeps a wristlock on even when he is thrown. Shota challenges Ueno to a test of strength then spin kicks him in the gut instead. Shota slingshot sentons him.
They go outside and Ueno russian legsweeps Shota into the apron then does it into the rails. Back in and Ueno hits a nice back body drop and dropkicks him in the back of the head. Ueno wrpas his leg around his head and pulls on his arm but Shota hits the ropes. Shota does a backcracker and Ueno drops double knees on him. Ueno goes up top and is hurricanrana'd off. Shota topes Ueno into the rails, then tornado ddt's him back in and frogsplashes him for 2.
Shota works the arm then Ueno hits some forearms and a running shining wizard. Ueno does a nice corkscrew plancha to the outside. Shota is DDT'd onto the top turnbuckle from the top then Ueno missile dropkicks him. Ueno spinning slams him and misses a double jump moonsault. Shota tries some pin attempts. Ueno gets pushed into the ref then Shota falls over and kicks Ueno in the crotch on his way down. Ueno gets his knees up on a frogsplash then dragon suplexes Shota. Shota isn't bothered by it though and comes back with a spinning lariat.
Ueno hits a nice dropkick and wins with a forward flipping ddt. I didn't like this at all. They tried some different stories but just weren't consistent with them and the end result wasn't very good.
