Next week's show is here: https://prowresblog.blogspot.com/2025/08/wwe-evolve-8132025.html

Kali Armstrong is in the ring and cuts off the opening video package. She says she doesn't run from nobody and asks where Jin Tala is. She tells Jin to come and get the title if she wants it.

WWE Evolve Women's Title - Kali Armstrong (c) vs Jin Tala

They fight in the entrance way then get in the ring and fight. Stevie Turner comes out and says they can fight now as refs try to stop it.

Kali rams her into the corner. She hits various strikes. Jin boots her in the corner then clubs her. Kali armdrags elbow drops her. Kali hits shoulderblocks to the arm. Jin superkicks her in the gut then hits kicks to the body. Kali goes up and over then she slams her. Kali goes for a splash and Jin gets her knees up. Jin hits knees to the gut and euros her. Jin 619's her in the gut.

We go to break and return. Jin hits knees to the gut. Jin then stands on her. Jin suplexes her for 2. Jin does a grounded abdominal stretch and clubs on her. Jin slaps her and hits forearms. Kali shoulders her over and back elbows her. Kali then spinebusters her for 2. Jin corkscrew kicks her in the gut.

Kali blocks her 619 to the body. Kali hits a powerslam. Kali running shoulders her and wins.

Thoughts: Kali won as expected here. The match was acceptable. They really kept things moving here which is good as Jin is a slower worker usually. It wasn't great or memorable but it wasn't boring. Jin looked less muscular than the last set of tapings.

Chuey Martinez interviews Kali after. She says the same thing happens everytime when you step into the ring with the champ. Karmen Petrovic comes out. KP says they have unfinished business from NXT a few weeks ago. She says she didn't show back up on NXT so she's here to make her Evolve debut. She says she's not leaving without the title.

The Vanity Project talk in the back. They talk about Keanu Carver coming after the WWE ID guys. Brad says he's just jealous and so is everyone else. Drake says Keanu has tree trunk legs and is crazy. He also says he has Brooks Jensen on him and he says he can't catch a break. Brad says to eliminate and survive. Brad says Keanu will fight Bryce Donovan in a match he set up and Bryce will knock him down. Bryce says why didn't you tell him that? They ask if there's a problem and Drake says Bryce will take out Keanu and the problem is solved.

Kendal Grey and Carlee Bright talk about Wendy Choo. Grey says Wendy Choo is stalking her and it's p!ssing her off. CB says Choo cost her that match vs Jin Tala. Grey says she wants to fight Choo and rip her arm off. CB says she can do it for the both of them.

We see clips from the indies with Cappuccino Jones becoming the first WWE ID Men's champ and Kylie Rae becoming the first WWE ID Women's champ. They say the titles will be defended on the indies against other WWE ID guys and indy wrestlers. They say if an indy guy wins the title, they will sign a WWE contract. They will then go to Evolve, NXT then Raw or SD.

Stevie Turner and Karmen Petrovic talk. KP says she wants a rematch with Kali. Stevie says she will. Tyra Mae Steele comes in. She says this isn't NXT and if anyone deserves a shot at Kali, it's her. KP makes some kind of comment about NXT and says she's already on there. Stevie says this isn't NXT, it's Evolve. She says Tyra and Kali can fight in a women's title eliminator mtch.

Thoughts: This is the first time WWE has used the term "eliminator match" to my knowledge. Boxing's version of an eliminator match is to have two non-champions fight and the winner usually gets a title show. AEW's version oddly often has a champ fight someone who isn't the champ. It looks like WWE will be using the term the way it is supposed to be used.

Carlee Bright vs Wendy Choo

Choo armdrags her off the lock-up then waistlock takedowns her. Choo side headlocks her and takes her over. CB headscissors her. WC armlocks her. CB cartwheels out then flips out using the ropes and armdrags her. CB shoulders her over.

CB gets a 2 count on her then rolls her up for 2. Choo hits forearms then gets her head banged off the buckles. She no sells it and laughs. CB hits forearms then flying headscissors her. CB dropkicks her.

CB cannonballs her off the apron. We go to break and return. CB is up top and is kicked. Choo hits an iconoclasm then stomps on her. Choo twists her head with her feet. CB hits forearms then Choo elbows her.

CB hits lariats. CB jumping neckbreakers her. CB then standing moonsaults her for 2. CB top rope crossbodies her but Choo backrolls out. CB armdrags her then backrolls her. CD hits a codebreaker for 2.

They trade shots then Choo hits a pepsi twist lariat. CB puts her in the dirt nap and makes her pass out.

Thoughts: It was fine. There was nothing really wrong with this and Choo won as expected here.  This is one of the longer matches Carlee has had and she got to do a little more than usual.

Tate Wilder is interviewed. He says his first match was nice. He says it was like riding a dirtbike over a hill but things didn't go his way. Brooks Jensen comes in. He says Tate didn't jump a hill, he crashed and burned. Brooks says he wants to take over the interview. He says Tate is a young immature cowboy and is nothing more than he was in 2022. He says you get chewed out, spit out and left jaded in this place.

Brooks says Jordan is in a nomad but realized he's deadweight and a deadend. He says he's just like Tate. Tate says Ridge doesn't have the fortitude to get in the ring with him and says maybe Brooks does. Brooks says to go tell Stevie.

Dante Chen does a taped video. He says he's still here and is ready for anything that comes his way. He said he took the opportunity in Evolve. He says Edris Enofe has turned into someone he's not. He says just because he calls himself the EOE, doesn't mean he should be given titles. He says Enofe takes shortcuts. Chen says he talked to Stevie and asks they will fight next week. He says Edris will get the whooping he earned.

Bryce Donovan vs Keanu Carver

BD hits punches and back elbows to start. BD htis a corner lariat then KC shoulders him over. BD hits him on the apron then forearms him off of it. BD is caught off the apron. KC drops BD face first on the apron.

We go to break and return. KC hits a forearm to the gut. KC goes for the pounce but BD facekicks him. BD clubs KC's chest and bangs his face off the mat for 2. KC hits punches and is knee'd in the gut. BD kicks the rope into KC and hits a big lariat.

BD slams KC for 2. BD chinlocks him. BD stomp flurries him in the corner. BD double throat thrusts him then KC hits a nice lariat. KC hits a big punch then corner lariats him. KC fireman's carry throws him then hits a big fallaway slam for 2.

BD sits on top and clubs KC. BD electric chair drops KC for 2. Jackson Drake yells at BD, asking why we're still out here and if he's got this. BD misses a facekick and KC hits a samoan drop.

KC is pulled throat first into the buckles. Zayda Steel distracts the ref. BD calls for a chair and his partners can't get him one. Brooks Jensen comes down and wants to fight The Vanity Project. Jordan Oasis then jumps Brooks.

KC hits a flying shoulder on BD then hits his enka otoshi variation for the win.

Thoughts: I liked it. It was maybe the best match both have had so far in Evolve and Bryce was treated like a bigger heavy here. KC moved well and was more explosive than usual. I didn't expect a ton from this but I liked what we got.

Overall thoughts: We had 3 matches here and some things built for the future. All 3 matches were fine and the main was the best thing on this show. It was a good heavyweight match and beat my expectations. Jin Tala also had a better showing against Kali than I had expected as she wrestled faster and seemed a bit comfortable out there. I'd give this a 6 out of 10 and it was good overall but didn't think it was must see.
