NWA Powerrr 10/22/2019 Episode 3

NWA Powerrr 10/22/2019 Episode 3

Last week's show is here: https://prowresblog.blogspot.com/2024/04/nwa-powerrr-10152019-episode-2.html

Jim Cornette and Joe Galli are our hosts. We are in Atlanta, GA.

We get a package on Nick Aldis not letting Kamille spear.

Joe Galli talks. He says he was told he was confrontational with Nick and Kamille and was asked not to ask about Kamille. He says he will interview Nick and only ask about his next challenger.

Eddie Kingston comes up to the commentators. He complains about The Dawson's interfering in their match last week and says that not their deal here in the NWA. Eddie says him and Homicide want The Dawson's in the ring. Eddie says they will take them out then get their title shot.

Marti Belle vs Crystal Rose

MB waistlocks her. Rose back elbows her. MB takes her over then boots her out of the corner. MB headscissors her out of the corner.

MB running corner forearms her. MB misses a corner attack and Rose double knee drops her in the corner. Rose chokes her on the 2nd rope. MB lariats her twice then spinning forearms her. MB hits a corner hip attack. MB sitout pedigrees her and pins her.

Thoughts:
It was a one-sided match. Belle didn't do a lot but various running moves in the corner and those weren't super impressive.

The Dawson's are interviewed. They are asked why they attacked last week. They say things happen...for a reason don't they? They say everyone wants to throw their weight around and it's their turn to do that. They say they will fight any single guy back there except for Kingston and Homicide.

We get a video on Thunder Rosa, where she puts her facepaint on.

Tim Storm is supposed to be interviewed but Aron Stevens comes out instead in a pirate suit. Aron says the no eye contact rule is still in effect. He says he's here to promote a movie called "Tropical Pirates". We then see clips of this movie. Aron says when it comes to acting, he has more chops than Ric Flair.

Caleb Konley vs Dan Parker

Dan's nickname is "The D-Man". Dan is in gold and red. CK pushes him then side headlock takeovers him. Dan throws him down backwards and CK kips up. CK chops him in the corner. Dan forearms CK from the apron then slingshot headscissors him. CK sentons him for 2.

CK back elbows him out of the corner then is pulled down over the top rope. Dan hits knees to the gut. Dan abdominal stretches him and holds onto the ropes while the ref isn't looking. CK hiptosses him.

CK backdrops him then double jump moonsaults him to win.

Thoughts: It was short and fine for what it was. Both guys were moving well here and seemed to be trying hard.

Tim Storm is interviewed. He said Nick Aldis didn't have to give him a title shot and said he's a true champions champion. Tim says taking the title shot was a huge decision but it didn't work out like he wanted. He says he's got other decisions to make.

Eli Drake comes out. He says Tim sounds like he's ready to quit. He says one loss shouldn't be enough to make him feel like quitting. He says Thesz, Race and Steamboat were there at one point. He says the ride doesn't have to be over. Eli says they could go for other gold since he can't challenge for the title and says tonight it's them vs The Dawson's. Tim says he will think about it.

We get some weird fake commercial for The Spiritual Advisor's Invisible Hair Cream.

We see video of James Storm chasing around Jocephus 2 weeks ago.

Jocephus comes out to apologize to James Storm Colt Cabana then comes out. Colt takes the hat Jocephus stole from James Storm and he pretends to be James Storm. Jocephus then gives Colt a beer. They shake hands and Jocephus won't let go. Jocephus throws salt in his eyes.

James Storm then gets in the ring with them and he superkicks Jocephus.

Thoughts: This was an unusual segment and it didn't work for me. I thought it could have used more expectation.

Nick Aldis and Kamille are interviewed. Nick wants to talk about his next challenger for the title. He says there's a horse race for the #1 contender spot. He says Eli Drake, James Storm and Ricky Starks could all be contenders. He says Starks has something. He says no one has stood out from the pack and he will let it play out. He says if he can't find anyone, he will have to find someone else from another promotion. Joe Galli asks Nick why he won't let Kamille speak for herself. Nick says Kamille is his insurance policy and she can speak when she wants. Joe tries to interview her and Kamille refuses to talk. Nick says she doesn't talk as she doesn't feel like it but when she does feel like it, Joe will be the first to know.

Eli Drake and Tim Storm vs The Dawsons (Zane and Dave Dawson)

Dave is the bald one, Zane has the hair and tattoos. Eli and Dave go at it. Dave knees him in the gut and headbutts him. Eli lariats him twice then flying lariats him. Eli spinning neckbreakers him. Eli hits a neckbreaker on Zane off his suplex attempt and elbow drops him for 2.

Tim boots Zane in the gut and the head. Tim then neckbreakers him for 2. Zane takes a double back elbow. Eli boots Zane out of the corner then 2nd rope diving facebusters him for 2.

Tim corner lariats Zane. Zane takes a double boot and club. Eli butt drops Zane's back. Tim hits elbows on Zane's neck. Tim boots Zane in the gut then Zane bearhugs him. Dave hits corner spears on Tim and then bearhugs him from behind. Zane then bearhugs Tim from behind. Tim ear claps him to escape. Eli comes in and russian legsweeps Zane. Eli pulls down Zane backwards for 2. Eli misses a corner spear on Zane and goes into the post. Tim runs into Dave's knee on the apron. Eli takes a bodyblock + powerslam and is pinned.

Thoughts:
Eli looked good here and was really moving well. The Dawson's winning here was fine since they are established and Tim/Eli aren't, but I don't know if you want to have faces losing main events this early in the run. The match was fine.

The Dawson's beat up on Tim after. Eddie Kingston and Homicide make the save to further that feud. They then follow them to the back.

Nick Aldis comes out and checks on Tim to close the show.

Overall thoughts: The show continues to feel a bit long and I'm not sure why. We only had 3 matches here and the main was the only thing that was really worth anything. We also had a goofy segment with Jocephus and Colt Cabana in this one that I didn't think was done well and your usual interviews. They did do a nice job in building up The Dawson's vs Kingston/Homicide though. I'd give it a 5 out of 10 as it was a rather average show.
