New Japan Pro Wrestling 7/22/2025 G1 Climax 35 Day 3

Gabe Kidd is still unable to wrestle.

Shoma Kato & YOSHI-HASHI vs. BULLET CLUB War Dogs (Drilla Moloney & Taiji Ishimori)

DM and Yoshi fight. They trade forearms and chops. Yoshi dropkicks him in the knee then DM has his legs split. Kato hits forearms on DM then is uranaged. DM bounces off the top rope and elbow drops Kato. TI cravates Kato then twists his head with his feet. Kato is sent into the rails outside.

TI hits punches on Kato then Kato armdrags him. Kato dropkicks him. Yoshi headhunters DM then running back elbows him. Yoshi neckbreakers him for 2. DM pump kicks him then they collide with lariats. DM suplexes him. Kato hits forearms and a flying forearm on TI.

Kato hiptosses him for 2. Kato then crabs him. TI handspring corkscrew kicks Kato then Kato dropkicks him. TI hits a crucifix driver into a border city stretch and taps him out.

Thoughts: The finish was nice here with TI hitting the crucifix driver into the stretch clean. Kato got a lot of offense in. It was a short opener and not too much of note.

El Phantasmo & Jado vs. House Of Torture (Ren Narita & Yoshinobu Kanemaru)

The heels attack before it starts. ELP's head is banged off the apron. ren dropkicks Jado in the back of the knee. Jado's legs are split and YK yanks on Jado's leg. YK stretches Jado's leg then Ren butt drops it

Ren throws ELP out when ELP tries to intervene. Ren hits forearms on Jado. Jado then shoulders him over. ELP comes in and 2nd rope twisting crossbodies Ren. He then asai moonsaults him and plancha's YK outside.

Ren rolling leglocks ELP and ELP turns it into a pin attempt. Ren facebusters ELP then ELP rolls him up for 2. ELP then backslides him for 2. ELP dropkicks Ren.

Jado shoulders YK over then lariats him. Ren tries to bring the push up bar in and is stopped. YK dropkicks Jado in the knee then Jado cradles him for 2. Jado then crossfaces YK and Ren breaks it up. Ren hits Jado in the knee with the push up bar and YK submits Jado with the figure four to win.

Thoughts: It would short and not that interesting. The heels cheated to win and nobody did anything too out of the ordinary here. We didn't really need to see this.

Ren hits ELP in the back of the knee with the push up bar after.

United Empire (Great-O-Khan & Jakob Austin Young) vs. The Don Callis Family (Konosuke Takeshita & Rocky Romero)

Khan tries takedowns on KT and they grapple. Khan mongolian chops him then KT pump kicks him. KT flying back elbows him. RR boots Khan then Khan rams him into the corner. Jake if put on the apron and takes a double drive by kick.

RR chops Jake then KT chops Jake. Jake takes a double shoulder tackle for 2. RR knees Jake in the gut. Jake facekicks him out of the corner and tornado ddt's him. Khan comes in and shoulders over RR. Khan AA's KT then monkey flips him. Khan then hip throws KT for 2.

KT hurricanrana's him then they double clothesline each other. RR and Jake trade forearms. KT pump kicks Jake and Khan gets pushed into Jake. KT and RR hit each other on accident. Khan corner lariats RR then shoulder throws him. Jake low running knees RR for 2.

Khan claws KT outside of the ring. RR euros Jake then Jake enzugiri's him. RR cradles him then Jake backslides him for 2. RR blocks a la magistral and wins.

Thoughts: It was another shorter one here. They tried though and they did what they could with it, but it was about average.

The young lions have to get Khan to stop putting the iron claw on KT after. 

Katsuya Murashima & Shota Umino vs. TMDK (Hartley Jackson & Zack Sabre Jr.)

Hart and KM shoulder battle. Hart slams and splashes him for 2. Zack facekicks Shota on the apron. Zack hits face and chest kicks. KT hits forearms back then Zack twists his head with his feet. Zack half crabs him and turns it into an STF.

KM hits chops on Hart then Hart elbow drops him for 2. Zack kicks KM in the back and hits knees. KM fights back and takes a corner facekick. KM then shoulders him over. Shota comes in and hits basement dropkicks. Shota forearms Zack over then fisherman suplexes him.  

Zack pele kicks Shota's arm then Zack pulls back on Shota's arm with an armbar. Shota tornado ddt's Zack. KM hits flying forearms on Hart then he dropkicks him. KM tries to slam him but Hart falls down on him. Hart corner splashes him and then sentons him for 2.

Shota enzugiri's Zack then is PK'd. KM rolls up Hart for 2. KM hits a nice dropkick on Hart then powerslams him for 2. Hart hits a big lariat on KM then he death valley drivers him to win.

Thoughts: This was more about Murashima than Shota. Murashima did a good job here as the fiery underdog and he had me convinced he could beat Hart at one point here but it didn't happen. This wasn't bad.

Zack cobra twists Shota outside after to hype up their match tomorrow. Zack then drops the belt on Shota's face.

G1 Climax 2025 Block A Match - Callum Newman vs. Ryohei Oiwa

CN hits facekicks to start then Oiwa forearms him over. CN PK's him then throws him out. CN plancha's him. Oiwa is sent into the rails then CN chest kicks him. CN eye rakes him with his feet. Oiwa suplexes him.

Oiwa running forearms him, armdrags him and dropkicks him over. Oiwa olympic slams him for 2. Oiwa stomps on CN's leg then splashes it. Oiwa pulls on the leg and they ropebreak. CN superkicks him then Oiwa hits a ddt. They trade forearms. CN hits chest kicks then Oiwa blocks his corkscrew kick. Oiwa ankle locks him then bangs CN's knee off the mat. CN kicks him in the chest then lariats him. CN fisherman busters him for 2. Oiwa lariats him over. CN flying knees him for 2. Oiwa hits a german then hits a chaos theory german for 2. CN headbutts him then Oiwa spinning lariats him for the win.

Thoughts: The two matched up okay and I liked what we got but they didn't get to go all out and they didn't get a ton of time. This was really just a taste of what they can do. 

G1 Climax 2025 Block A Match - Hiroshi Tanahashi vs. Oleg Boltin

They trade waistlocks. Tana side headlock takeovers him and is put in a headscissors. Oleg backs him up on the ropes. Tana hits a shot to the gut and Oleg hits chops. Tana 2nd rope twisting crossbodies him. Oleg rolls him then hits a corner splash. Oleg belly to belly suplexes him for 2.

Oleg stomps on him then karelin's lifs him for 2. Oleg rams him in the corner and chops him. Tana dragon screws him. Tana flying forearms him. Tana slams him then flipping sentons him for 2.  

Tana germans him. Oleg dropkicks him. Olegslams him then hits a vader bomb for 2. Oleg back rolls then Tana rolls him up for 2. Tana hits a twist and shout then hits a second and third one. Tana slingbldes him. Tana goes up top then Oleg grabs him and hits an AA for 2.

Tana bodypresses him out of an F-5 then Tana slingblades him for 2. Tana's top rope crossbody is caught then Oleg finlay rolls him. Oleg then pins him.

Thoughts: I liked it. They nailed the general idea of Oleg muscling Tana around and Tana getting thrown around. It was one of Tana's best matches as of late and beat my expectations. This was good.

Oleg helps Tana ice his ribs then helps pull him up after.

G1 Climax 2025 Block A Match - SANADA vs. EVIL 

Sanada comes out in full body fishnets and pink sunglasses for some reason.  Sanada won here with a roll-up. It was short and filled with shenanigans with interference and Kanemaru trying to be the ref before the actual ref took the shirt off of him. 

G1 Climax 2025 Block A Match - Taichi vs. David Finlay  

Tai hits leg kicks and takes forearms. Tai spin kicks him then back body drops him. Tai forearms him over. DF is sent into the rails then pushes Tai into the post. DF sends Tai hard into the buckles. DF uranage backbreakers him for 2. Tai enzugiri's DF after a missed charge.

DF throws him on a suplex. Tai running lariats him. They trade shots and Tai gamengiri's him. DF clubs on him. Tai backdrops DF over the top. DF comes back in and Tai hits a big lariat for 2. DF cradles him then hits oblivion for 2. Tai hurricanrana's DF into the buckles. DF then buckle bombs Tai. DF spinning forearms him. Tai gets a 2 count on him then rolls him up for another 2.

Tai superkicks him. Tai hits an air raid crash and wins.

Thoughts: I liked this. It was almost all action, the crowd was into it and they kept it short so it didn't overstay it's welcome. We didn't run into the usual issues with DF doing offense he shouldn't be doing either.

G1 Climax 2025 Block A Match - Yota Tsuji vs. Yuya Uemura

Yota wristlocks him then Yuya side headlocks him. Yota shoulders him over. Yota hits corner spears. Yuya armdrags him and bangs his arm off the mat. Yota sentons him. Yuya hammerlocks him.

Yuya crucifixes him and armdrags him. Yuya chops him then Yota tilt-a-whirl backbreakers him. Yuya is laying on the apron and Yota baseball slides him out. Yota topes him. Yota hits a knee to the face then Yuya snaps Yota's arm. Yuya armdrags him and drops back on Yota's arm.

Yuya backdrops him for 2. Yota flatliners him then deadlift germans him. They go up top and Yota top rope spanish flies him for 2. They trade shots. Yuya dropkicks him. Yuya misses a top rope crossbody. Yuya armdrags him. They headbutt each other and Yota runs into Yuya's forearm. Yuya germans him for 2. Yuya dragon suplexes him for 2. Yuya top rope splashes him for 2.

Yuya comes off the top and is hit with a spear for 2. Yuya hurricanrana's him for 2. Yota spears him and wins.

Thoughts: I didn't like the top rope spanish fly being meaningless and the selling wasn't that good. But they did keep things moving here. I do think this needed a little bit more as it was not set up to be an epic.

Yuya goes to leave and Yota calls him out. Yuya then talks on the mic.  

Overall thoughts: I liked the opener and the Murashima match on the undercard. Three of the G-1 matches delivered and Tana/Oleg was the best match of the night. I don't think anything was must see here though. I'll give it a 6 out 10 overall was it was better than average but nothing was great.
