WWE Smackdown 11/8/2024

WWE Smackdown 11/8/2024

Last week's show is here: https://prowresblog.blogspot.com/2024/11/wwe-smackdown-1112024.html

We are in Buffalo, New York.

We see various wrestlers arrive.

Roman Reigns and Jimmy Uso come out. Jey Uso comes out as Roman goes to speak. He says there's a lot of misunderstandings going on and says to hear him out. He then brings out Sami Zayn.

Sami says the kick to the face of Roman wasn't on purpose. He says he showed up for Jey. He says it was special when it was just them in the ring at Crown Jewel. He said it took him back to a special point in his career. He says he still has a soft spot for their time in Bloodline. Sami says Roman wants all of this back.

Sami says he thinks Roman loves him and says he can see it in Roman's face. Roman makes a nasty face. He says Roman wants all of them fighting together side by side. Sami says he will do it if that's what Roman wants. He says he needs him to do something for him though - apologize. Roman makes more faces.

Sami says he wants Roman to apologize to Jey, not him. Roman says he's sorry...for ever letting Sami waste his time with this. Roman says Sami isn't in their family. He says it's not about Sami, it's about Solo. He tells Solo to bring his @ss out to the ring right now and let's handle business. Sami then leaves.

Jacob Fatu appears on the tron. He says there's the tribal chief than everyone else. He says Roman's like everyone else and tells him back of the line. He says Solo moves on his own time and will come out when he pleases. He says Roman will acknowledge that.

Thoughts: I didn't like this angle. It made Sami look like a fool and ruined any cred he had gained on his own for the last year.

Jey tries to catch up with Roman and Jimmy in the back. Roman says no and Jey grabs him. He says he just asked him to hear him out. Roman asked why he'd wanna do that. He says Sami means nothing to them and says get out of my face. Jey says that's his one pass and told him if he talks to him that way he's out. Jey asks him why he did that Roman says he should go find his brother.

Bayley vs Candice LaRae

CL boots and dropkicks her. Bay shoulders her over then  sliding lariats her for 2.  CL neckbreakers Bay over the 2nd rope. We go to PiP break and return. Bay escapes a side headlock and hits some shots. CL hits corner spears. CL pulls her down backwards.

They fight on the buckles and CL top rope dropkicks her. Bay no sells it and lariats her. Bay forearm flurries her. CL is pulled down over the 2nd rope. Bay spins her into a side slam.

Bay chases after CL. CL holds her leg and the ref makes Bay back off. CL tries to roll Bay up from behind and Bay catches her. Bay then pins her.

Thoughts:
It was short with a stupid finish. CL has done the fake injury thing before and props to Bay for knowing that.

Johnny Gargano talks to The Motor City Machine Guns. He puts over Alex and says it's long overdue that he's here. Sabin says they can't wait to fight DIY again. Johnny says punching Waller is one of his favorite things to do and they will love it. Ciampa comes in and asks him what that was. Ciampa says MCMG just got here and took their spot and titles. Ciampa says they will make an example of Pretty Deadly tonight and let The Guns know they will take their titles back. Randy Orton then heads to the ring.

Randy Orton is in the ring. He says Crown Jewel was the beginning and says he will end this sh!t now. He tells Kevin Owens to come out. KO comes out. Officials try to stop him and fail. KO and Orton fight. Orton gets the edge. KO boots Orton then piledrivers him. Orton holds his neck and a stretcher is brought out. Cody comes out. Orton is stretchered out and put in an ambulance.

Pretty Deadly vs DIY

Ciampa stomps on Elton and then sends Kit into the post outside. Elton's head is banged off the commentary table.  Kit is thrown over the rails and Elton is sent into the steps. Ciampa hits a sitout pedigree on Elton and wins.

Thoughts: It was a short one with JG never getting in. I don't love PD getting jobbed out like this but atleast there was a reason for it.

Tiffany Stratton goes up to LaRae and tells her beating Bayley was a fluke. She says she'll have to work harder to earn Nia's respect. Nia asks Tiff if she set up the match tonight vs Jade and Bianca. Tiff says it would put them in line for the tag titles if they won. Nia says she's already a champ. LaRae says Nia would have won at Crown Jewel if she was there. Nia tells Tiff her plan better work.

Nia Jax and Tiffany Stratton vs Jade Cargill and Bianca Belair

Tiff talks trash to Jade and is thrown into the corner. Tiff slaps her. Jade stares her down. Jade fallway slams Tiff then kips up. Nia and Jade stare down. Nia samoan drops her.

We go to PiP break and return. Nia blocks Jade's tag. Nia chinlocks Jade. Nia headbutts Jade. Jade suplexes Nia. BB gets in and shoulders Tiff over. she single leg dropkicks her. BB suplexes Tiff then hits corner punches. Tiff pulls BB by the hair. BB spinebusters her. BB handsrping moonsaults her but Tiff gets her knees up. Nia gets in and misses a corner splash.

Nia back elbows BB and holds her in the air. BB takes a samoan drop + blockbuster combo for 2. Jade and Nia stare down and then trade forearms. Nia headbutts her and takes a pump kick. Nia bodyblocks her. Tiff hip attacks BB on the ropes. BB spears Tiff. BB goes up top and Cadice LaRae pushes BB off the top. Tiff double stomps BB and tells LaRae she doesn't need her help. Naomi then comes down and beats up LaRae.

Nia runs over Naomi and Jade superkicks Nia. Tiff is stuck on the 2nd rope and BB hits a KOD for the win.

Thoughts: It was a short one here. I was surprised as I figured Nia and Tiff might pull this off. Bianca hit the stiffest spears ever in this one and I liked the Jade vs Nia fight. It was alright.

Waller says this is their show in the back and says he's not stressed about no tag team to Theory.

A-Town Down Under vs The Motor City Machine Guns

Waller pulls Alex by the hair then Theory nails Alex from behind. Alex hits punches on Theory. Theory takes a double team combo ending in a baseball slide. Sabin armdrags and armlocks Waller. Waller kips up while in a wristlock several times. Waller leg lariats Sabin.

Waller hits knees to Sabin's gut. Waller takes a sandwich kick to the front and back. Alex chops Waller and hits corner punches. Alex plancha's Theory. Alex is held down and Waller does like a leg drop from the buckles on him.

We go to PiP break and return. Theory flying back elbows Alex. Waller jumping knees Alex. Alex takes a sandiwch forearm from both opponents. Alex is sent out. Alex superkicks Waller. Waller hits knees to Alex's face. Waller misses a corner splash. Sabin hits punches on Theory.

Sabin leg lariats Theory. Sabin top rope dropkicks Theory. Alex holds the ropes open and Sabin hits a double tope between his legs. Alex corner lariats Theory. Theory takes a dropkick from the top + flatliner combo.

Alex armlocks Theory. Sabin back rolls Theory but Waller rolls in and flatliners him for 2. Waller hits mounted shots on Sabin. Waller walks the 2nd rope and misses an elbow drop. Sabin crucifixes Waller for 2. Waller takes a double kick in the corner. Waller then takes a neckbreaker + top rope crossbody combo and is pinned.

Thoughts: It was a fast paced and decent match. The crowd wasn't that into it and it was more action than story but it was fine. Having The Guns win here was the right move.

The Motor City Machine Guns are in the back. Ciampa and DIY go up to them. The Street Profits then interrupt and says they got next. B-Fab says it's official - The Guns vs The Profits for the tag titles next week. Ciampa gets mad and spikes something on the ground. Alex says they came here to wrestle the best and Sabin is fine with it too. Dawkins says let's see how they handle real pressure.

Nick Aldis talks. He says the women of WWE have overcome every obstacle and glass ceiling. He says they redefined success. He says we have a roster of world class athletes who push themselves to leave a legacy. He then shows us a a Women's United States championship. He says it be earned by whoever is willing to go above and beyond. He says it's time to make history.

Thoughts: I'd expect this title to be on Raw, not SD, since Raw has a much bigger women's roster. SD only has 12 girls at the moment. I guess they will have time for it once the show goes to 3 hours, but that's about 7 weeks away. I really don't know if it's necessary at the moment. And while it can give lower card girls something to do, so can actual storylines.

We see Bloodline in the back. Fatu puts the necklace on Solo.

Solo Sikoa Tribal Chief Acknowledgement Ceremony

The Bloodline is in the ring. Solo says to "acknowledge me". Roman Reigns comes out alone. Solo says he needs Roman to acknowledge him as his undisputed tribal chief. Roman asks if Buffalo acknowledges him and says neither does he. He says he will never acknowledge him and is here to challenge him 1v1. He says the winner of it is the only tribal chief.

Solo says he's already the undisputed tribal chief and doesn't need to fight him. He says you can't become a tribal chief when there's no tribe. He challenges Roman to find 4 people to team up with him and go to war. He says they are always ready for war.

Roman says he only sees 4 of Bloodline. Solo counts 4 and says the 5th man is Sami Zayn. Sami Zayn comes out. Bloodline nail Roman from behind. The Uso's then come out and help Roman. Fatu hits superkicks on the outside. Solo goes for the samoan spike. He tells Sami to come here. He tells Sami to kick Roman in the face. Sami the kicks Solo in the face.

Roman superman punches Fatu then Sami running facekicks Fatu. Roman spears Solo. Sol, Jimmy and Jey hold up the one finger then Roman does as well. They pose to close the show.

Thoughts:
I didn't get this and didn't think it was well explained. I guess we are supposed to buy that Sami and Roman were tricking Solo into thinking that they were against each other but they didn't quite explain it that way. They also started talking about each side having a 5th man and it seems like that now might be off the table.

Overall thoughts: I didn't like the stuff with The Bloodline and that opened and closed the show. I guess we were supposed to buy that Roman and Sami tricked Solo but it wasn't well explained. The other big news is the night is that there is a WWE Women's United States Title. Unless the title is for both brands, I don't think SD has enough talent for it and I don't know if it's really needed. The Guns vs Theory/Waller was fine as was the women's match. Bayley vs LeRae wasn't that good. I would just give this one a 5 out of 10 and wouldn't recommend it.
