All Japan Pro Wrestling 5/6/2024 Champion Carnival 2024 Day 10

All Japan Pro Wrestling 5/6/2024 Champion Carnival 2024 Day 10

I skipped one match here:

Nagisa is in the blue and Maru has the short lighter hair. Mari and Maru pose with their opponents then hit them from behind. NS has her head banged off the buckles and Maru chokes Natsuki with a chain in front of the ref. Maru pulls Natsuki's arms back then facebusters her. Natsuki dropkicks Maru then Nagisa running dropkicks Maru.

Nagisa chop flurries Maru then sharpshooters her. All the girls get in the ring and Mari is facebusted onto Maru. Nagisa and Natsuki double elbow drop their opponents. Natsuki jack knife pins Maru.

Thoughts: I thought it went too long for an opener and as usual, it got little reaction. The work wasn't bad but it would have been better with a few minutes shaved off.

GAORA TV Title Match - Seigo Tachibana (c) vs. Dan Tamura

ST wore some goofy alien looking sunglasses out. Dan takes down ST. They trade forearms and ST saito suplexes him. ST is sent into the rails outside. Dan is tripped into the rails then ddt's on the floor. ST chinlocks him then neckbreakers him. ST chinlocks him. Dan samoan drops him to get out.

Dan hits a lariat flurry then runs into ST's lariat. ST lariats and headbutts him. ST running elbows him over the neck and wins it.

Thoughts: It was a longer 16 minute match. I don't know why they did this so low on the card. There were some things I liked here especially towards the end, but it was the wrong spot on the card for this.

Hartley Jackson, Hideki Suzuki, Lord Crewe & Suwama vs. Jun Saito, Rei Saito, Ryuki Honda & Yuma Anzai

Everyone fights to start. Suzuki takes Honda into the seats and down into the lobby. Honda and Suzuki fight in the stands. Yuma forearms Suwama in the ring then is eye raked. Rei and Hart go at it. They shoulder battle and Hart knocks him over. Rei then knocks him over.

Suzki and Honda get in. Suzuki is tripped into the middle rope and Honda kneels on his neck. Suwama tries to stop it then Rei counts along with the ref as he does it to Suwama too. Suzuki and Suwama go for competing holds on Honda at the same time and get nothing in as they lift him in different directions. They then spin Honda around together and get dizzy.

Crewe and Jun go at it. Crewe germans him and hits a big forearm for 2. Jun takes corner attacks when he gets in then Crewe spin kicks Jun for 2. Jun spinning lariats Crewe then Crewe takes a jumping knee + lariats to the spine combo. Crewe is chokeslammed by Jun for 2. Jun chokeslams Crewe and wins it.

Thoughts: There were too many people involved here, not enough time and this was just not a serious match. There was lots of goofing here and it was just a night off for most of the people in it.

Yuma Anzai locks the rail door to prevent Suzuki from leaving after.

Champion Carnival 2024 Block A Match - Kuroshio TOKYO Japan vs. Ren Ayabe

Jiro does his long entrance as usual bringing Seigo out for it and putting on alien sunglasses.

They go face to chest here. Jiro then goes out to talk to Seigo. Ren clean breaks Jiro on the ropes then throws him over off the lock up. Jiro is thrown off the waistlock and goes to talk to Seigo more. Ren double axe handles Jiro off the apron. Jiro then hides under the ring. Jiro pops out the other side and gets an attack in.

Jiro rolls him up and hits superkicks. Jiro hits a beach break for 2. Ren hits a stiff face kick. Ren then does his spinning falcon arrow and wins it.

Thoughts: It was a match. It didn't get enough time and a lot of it was spent screwing around. It was far from anyone's best effort here.

Champion Carnival 2024 Block A Match - Shotaro Ashino vs. Cyrus

Cy pushes Sho back. Sho clips and works on Cy's knee then slaps him in the back of the head. Sho side headlocks him then bodyblocks him. Cy butt drops him then splashes his arm.

Cy misses a splash and takes euros from Sho. Sho 2nd rope euros him then basement dropkicks him. Cy fallaway slams him then misses a vader bomb. Sho ankle locks him. Cy gets out then Sho does a nicer german on him. Sho does another ankle lock.

Cy hits bolo punches in the corner. Sho tries to fight back but is dropped. Cy then corner cannonballs him. Cy vader bombs him and gets the win.

Thoughts: It was short but it was fiery and hard hitting. The two matched up well and Cy felt inspired today, putting out one of his best performances yet.

Champion Carnival 2024 Block A Match - Yuma Aoyagi vs. Hokuto Omori

Omori comes out with fake Omori again, only it's Yuma Aoyagi under the horse mask. Yuma nails Omori from behind and throws him out. Omori is thrown into the rails and has his head banged off the Korauken sign. Yuma chokes Omori with his own shirt the bangs his head off the sign again.

Yuma puts the horse mask on and get in. Wada tries to take it and then throws it out into the crowd. Yuma hits Omori in the leg then knee drop him in the crotch. Yuma is knocked over and kicks Omori in the crotch on the fall. They fight over a suplex and Omori cutters him. Omori neckbreakers Yuma.

Yuma and Omori trade forearms then Yuma rock bottoms Omori for 2. Yuma fisherman busters him and another Fake Omori throws a horse mask in, disrupting the count. The ref argues with Fake Omori. Omori low blows Yuma, puts the horse mask on him and germans him.

The mask is put on Yuma then Omori corner forearms him. Omori ki krushers him and wins it.

Thoughts: This was mostly them goofing off here. I used to really like Omori when he was a junior and I don't think his current gimmick is good for him. It's turning him into an Ogawa or comedy style guy which sucks because he was a good serious wrestler.

Champion Carnival 2024 Block A Match - Davey Boy Smith Jr. vs. Kento Miyahara

They lock up. Kento is backed up on the ropes and pushed back. Kento armdrags him and Davey armdrags him off of it. Kento grabs the leg then Dabey grabs his leg. Davey camel clutches him. Davey side headlocks him and is headscissored. Davey is tripped into the 2nd rope and basement dropkicked. Kento then headbutts him outside.

Kento dropkicks him in the knee and the side of the head. Kento's neck is brought down over the top rope. Kento ddt's Davey on the apron.

Kento is thrown into the rails then powerslammed on the floor. Davey legdrops him. They fight on the buckles. Kento headbutts him. They trade forearms. Kento germans him then pumping knees him on the ropes. Davey backdrops him for 2 then superplexes him for 2. Kento pumping knees him and is lariated.

Davey tiger suplexes him for 2 then sitout powerbombs him for 2. Kento pumping knees him then dropkicks him. Kento straightjacket delay suplexes him and wins it.

Thoughts: It was long and slow. There was armwork that lead nowhere and instead of Kento adding some personality to this, Davey's lack of personality took over here. This was just not an interesting match and I found it hard to sit through.

Kento and Jun Saito have words after.

Overall thoughts: Everyone mostly took the night off here minus Dan/Seigo and Ashino/Cyrus. AJPW's better workers also all got stuck in the 8-man which was short and not serious. I wouldn't recommend this one.
