WWE NXT Level Up 2/16/2024

Last week's show is here:  https://prowresblog.blogspot.com/2024/02/wwe-nxt-level-up-292024.html

Brooks Jensen vs Je'Von Evans

This is Evans' TV debut. He was Lucky Ali on the indies. They say Evans is 19 and started training at age 13. Brooks throws him down off the lock up then wristlocks him. They say Evans calls himself the 2pac of this generation and wants to change the game. Brooks wristlocks him and shoulders him over. Brooks flips him but Evans hits an armdrag out of it. Evans does a seated bounce off the ropes into a hurricanrana. He dropkicks and headlock takeovers him.

The audience pops big for Evans. Brooks hits a stiff flying forearm and Brooks' lip is busted open. Brooks throws him hard into the buckles then suplexes him. Brooks knees him in the back then hits a low lariat for 2. Brooks chinlocks him and they say Evans competed in some arena's Brooks would like to compete in. The crowd boos Brooks and the commentators ask what is going on.

Evans hits a forearm off the ropes and then hits a flurry of shots. Evans hits running forearms and springboard crossbodies him for 2. Brooks cradles him for 2 and Evans counters it. Evans backrolls him. jumps off the 2nd rope and is caught with a powerslam. Brooks top rope kneedrops him and gets the win.

It was a fine debut for Evans with the crowd being super into him for unknown reasons. Evans looks like a younger R-Truth and seems be a younger guy who can move around well. If Evans has a bunch of creative spots/moves, he didn't get to do them here.

Kiana James and Izzi Dame are interviewed. Kiana rolls her eyes at Izzi facing Gigi Dolin tonight. Kiana says Izzi facing her will make her stock grow. Izzi said she always gets the job done. She said all they are worried about is future proofing the division one loser at a time. Izzi said it is what it is.

Gigi Dolin vs Izzi Dame

One has to wonder how much longer this Gigi Dolin face experiment will go on as it's not working. Izzi has a bright green leather outfit on and really doesn't have much of a top on.

They lock up and Gigi is pushed down immediately. Gigi wristlocks her then is thrown down on the waistlock. Gigi side headlocks her then Izzi shoulders her over. Gigi hits a headscissors takedown then hip attacks her on the ropes. Gigi low dropkicks her on the ropes. Gigi 2nd rope crossbodies her then takes a kick to the chest.

Izzi bullies her around and takes forearms. Izzi knees her in the gut and slams her. Izzi pulls on her chin. Gigi hits forearms and a knee. Gigi high kicks her then hits an STO for 2. Gigi hits Kawada kicks and a brazilian kick to the back of the head. Gigi does a neat cut throat bomb off the 2nd rope. Izzi forearms her then does a flapjack variation to win it.

It went longer than it needed to and was not very interesting. I was surprised to see Izzi get the win here as that's a big upset. They busted out two new moves at the end here that I hadn't seen before.

Overall thoughts:  There were only 2 matches here for unknown reasons. The men's match was fine but the women's match was long and not that good. I wouldn't recommend this.
